‘You are free to go anywhere where you will get more respect’: Samajwadi Party writes to party MLA Shivpal Yadav and SBSP chief Omprakash Rajbhar

Samajwadi Party, on 23rd July 2022, wrote to Shivpal Yadav and Omprakash Rajbhar asking them to part ways and go where they may get more respect. The party wrote that Yadav and Rajbhar are free to go anywhere where they might get more respect.

This development took place after Shivpal Yadav hinted that there was a cross-voting in Samajwadi Party in the presidential elections and that it was the effect of the letter he wrote to the elected representatives before voting. Samajwadi Party also wrote to Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party’s leader Omprakash Rajbhar apparently asking him to break the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

On the official letterhead of the Samajwadi Party, Shivpal Yadav is conveyed to Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle Shivpal Yadav, “Honorable Shivpal Yadav Ji, if you feel that you will get more respect elsewhere, you are free to go there.” SP leader Shivpal Yadav is MLA from Jaswantnagar constituency in Etawah district, which he has been representing since 1996.

Similarly, a letter has been sent to Omprakash Rajbhar that reads, “Shri Omprakash Rajbhar Ji, Samajwadi Party is continuously fighting against Bharatiya Janata Party. You have an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party and you are continuously working to strengthen Bharatiya Janata Party. If you feel that you will get more respect elsewhere, you are free to go there.”

Claiming cross-voting in Samajwadi Party in the presidential election, Shivpal Singh Yadav had given credit to himself. He also said that he is not getting proper respect and that he was not invited to the meeting of MLAs. It is notable that Shivpal Yadav’s PSP fought Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections in alliance with Samajwadi Party and Shivpal Yadav is elected as an MLA on Samajwadi Party’s symbol. Shivpal Yadav had said that Samajwadi Party’s elected representatives should not vote for Yashvant Sinha in the presidential elections because he had called Mulayam Singh Yadav an ISI agent in the past.

Om Prakash Rajbhar had also targeted Akhilesh Yadav claiming cross-voting in SP. Omprakash Rajbhar said, “Now SP chief Akhilesh Yadav should check with his thermometer to see who has done the cross voting. Shivpal Yadav is a big leader. Akhilesh should take care of him.”

Uttar Pradesh: Missionary school directs Sikh students not to wear turban and kirpan to school, takes back order and apologises after parents and SGPC protest

On July 21, Thursday, parents and various members of the Sikh community reached St. Francis Convent School in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, to protest against a directive issued by the school authorities, asking Sikh students not to wear a turban (Dastar) and Kirpan (a ceremonial dagger) to school. Notably, both these things are religious symbols of Sikhism with the Kirpan being one among the 5 distinguishing signs of the Sikh Khalsa.

According to reports, the former president of Model Town Gurdwara Committee Malik Singh Kalra informed that a school teacher on Wednesday told students during a prayer meeting that all the children should be seen in the same uniform and those who come wearing a turban, carry “kirpan” or “kada” (steel bracelet) should stop doing so from Thursday.

Alleging that the teacher had asked the children to quit the school for failing to follow the order, several members of the Sikh community, reached the school premises on Thursday. Opposing the decree issued by the authorities, they sought the removal of the school’s principal.

After the news gained traction, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) also jumped into the fray. The apex religious body of the Sikhs took strong objection to the directive issued by the missionary school. Also, condemning yesterday’s incident where a former Granthi named Gurbaksh Singh was assaulted by some unidentified Muslim youths in Alwar, Rajashthan, the SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said in a statement, “I appeal to Sikhs living across the country to come together and organise to firmly raise voice against people who are doing discrimination against Sikhs and urge the administration at the local level to take action.”

Meanwhile, as soon as the Bareilly District Magistrate Shivakant Dwivedi learned about the protest happening on the school premises, he rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. He summoned the principal Anne Rose and the parents to his office.

Dwivedi confirmed that the school management acknowledged that there was some misunderstanding and apologised for it. He added that the issue has been resolved.

Uttar Pradesh: Babu Khan participates in Kanwar Yatra for third time, was thrown out of mosque the first time but didn’t leave Islam, he says

On Saturday, amid the Kanwar Yatra, a report by Dainik Bhasker surfaced claiming that a Muslim man named Babu Khan was abandoned by the local Masjid in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh for participating in the Kanwar Yatra. Khan, fascinated by the Kanwar Yatra, decided to be a part of it in the year 2018. Babu Khan of Baghpat lifts Kanwar from Har ki Pauri in Haridwar.

“When I first went to get the Kanwar, there was a lot of fighting in the house. I was also boycotted, and thrown out of the mosque. For this, I fought a legal battle and many who boycotted me were sent to jail”, Khan said as he was preparing to lift the Kanwar. 52-year-old Babu Khan is a resident of Ranchad village in Baghpat and is a laborer by profession.

Elaborating his attraction towards the Kanwar Yatra he said, “I am bringing Kanwar from the year 2018. The Kanwar then was in the name of Lord Shiva. In 2019, the second Kanwar that I lifted was in the name of Parvati Mata. I am taking this third Kanwar today which is in the name of Lord Ganesha”.

Speaking exclusively to the Dainik Bhasker reporter, Khan added that earlier he was a truck driver in Azadpur Mandi in Delhi. “This was in 2018. At that time the Kanwar Yatra was going on. When I reached near Kairana police post, it was jammed. Thousands of Kanwariyas were walking ahead. It is then that a thought came to my mind that if I was also a Kanwariya, I would have been bringing Kanwar in the same way”, he added.

It is worth mentioning that after Khan fought the legal battle against the people who boycotted him, the local Mosque allowed Khan to enter the premises. As of today, Babu Khan, who is on his way with the Kanwar from Haridwar, follows the routine of offering Namaz in his village Mosque at 5 am and then cleaning the Shiv temple in Baghpat. Babu Khan says, ” I have not left Islam, I only believe in bringing Kanwars. That’s why I come to Haridwar every year to get Kanwar’s”.

The Dainik Bhasker in its ground report also published a special Kanwar which was being carried by the Kanwariyas to Kalka, Delhi. The Kanwar as reported has been adorned with 80 feet long tricolor and 80 feet long Sri Ram Mandir model. The photographs of revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru were also attached to the tricolor Kanwar.

The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage of devotees of Shiva, known as Kanwariyas, to Hindu pilgrimage places of Haridwar, Gaumukh, and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch the holy waters of the Ganges River. Millions of participants gather sacred water from the Ganga and carry it across hundreds of miles to dispense as offerings in their local Shiva shrines, or specific temples such as Pura Mahadeva and Augharnath temple in Meerut, and Kashi Vishwanath, Baidyanath, and Deoghar in Jharkhand.

The Kanwar Yatra is an annual journey made by followers of Shiva, often referred to as Kanwariyas, to the Hindu holy cities of Sultanganj in Bihar, Haridwar, Gaumukh, and Gangotri. Thousands of participants collect holy water from the Ganga and travel hundreds of kilometers to distribute it as offerings at their local Shiva shrines or particular temples like Meerut’s Pura Mahadeva and Augharnath temple, or Jharkhand’s Kashi Vishwanath, Baidyanath, and Deoghar. The administration estimates that till July 22, around 1.19 crore Kanwariyas have taken water from the Ganga river.

Bihar terror module: NIA takes over the investigation in Phulwari Sharif case linked to PFI, slaps UAPA

On Saturday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the investigation in Phulwari Sharif terror module case from Bihar and registered a case under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. This development came after the Ministry of Home Affairs handed over the case to the NIA.

This is days after the NIA arrested a Maulavi named Asghar Ali from Dhaka Bazar of Motihari in connection with the Phulwari Sharif case against the Popular Front of India (PFI). Accused Asghar Ali is a teacher in the Jamia Maria Misawa Madrasa in Dhaka Bazar.

Asghar Ali is a native of the Sisvania village of the Palanawa police station. Before Asghar Ali’s arrest, the Bihar police arrested five persons in Phulwari Sharif in connection with this case. The case is registered against 26 people in total. The arrested individuals include Md Jalaluddin and Athar Parvez who had trained around 26 people for creating violence at PM Modi’s event in Patna on July 12. Md Jalaluddin is a former police officer from Jharkhand while Parvez is a member of PFI and its political arm SDPI.

The Police also recovered the relevant documents from the accused to discover that the PFI was hurt by the alleged ‘blasphemous’ statements made by ex-BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and that they had made a plan to take revenge against the alleged remarks. The FIR registered in the matter also mentioned that the accused belonging to the terrorist organization had planned to disturb the event in which PM Modi had participated on July 12.

Bihar Police discovered during the inquiry that Parvez was in frequent contact with members of many foreign organizations and was seeking foreign funding to carry out anti-India operations. Suspected terrorist training had also begun in Phulwari Sharif 15 days before PM Modi’s visit. The police raided and detained two guys as soon as they received the information.

To note, one of the documents named ‘India vision 2047’ that has been recovered by the Bihar Police talks about ‘subjugating coward majority community’ and bringing back the glory. According to the Police, the document is very objectionable and talks about the ‘rule of Islam in India’. “PFI sure that even if 10% of whole Muslim population gather behind it, it will conquer frightened majority group and restore the glory,” Kumar continued, quoting an excerpt from the eight-page long document titled ‘India Vision 2047’.

According to the Police, the document further states that in the event of a full-fledged conflict with the state, apart from relying on cadres, they would need help from their friendly Islamic countries. “In recent years, PFI has built cordial connections with Turkey, a flag-bearer of Islam,” the police official quoted from the document.

Pakistan and China invite third country to join the CPEC amid inordinate delays and deepening fund crisis

China and Pakistan have now invited any third country to join the multibillion-dollar infrastructure project for what they call mutually beneficial cooperation as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) encounters hurdles owing to financial constraints and excessive delays.

The CPEC Joint Working Group (JWG) on International Cooperation and Coordination held a meeting on Friday 22nd July 2022. In this meeting, the foreign office issued a statement that said, “As an open and inclusive platform, both sides welcomed interested third parties to benefit from avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation opened up by CPEC.”

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the continued implementation of CPEC and its expansion to jointly agreed on priority areas. It is notable that in 2018, Pakistan invited Saudi Arabia to be the third ‘strategic’ partner in the CPEC. Now, this time, both China and Pakistan are seeking the direct involvement of a third country in this mega project.

According to reports, China and Pakistan have discussed expanding the CPEC to Afghanistan in order to foster economic development and stability in the Taliban-ruled country in exchange for guarantees on security and human rights, especially girls’ education.

Current situation of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor

At a time when Pakistan is being pounded by a domestic financial crisis, the $65 billion mega project has started its second stage. Additionally, China is also dealing with a real estate crisis and an increase in depositor protests. The CPEC is the central focus of China’s ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which aims to reintroduce historic trade networks by creating a modern-day Silk Road that links it to the south and southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.

China has given a significant boost to the BRI, which is at the heart of its foreign strategy. As part of the interconnectivity project, it was extensively spent on the construction of power plants, harbors, trains, 5G networks, and the installation of fiber-optic cables along the route.

CPEC is one of China’s most significant projects in a single country. It was intended to demonstrate the success of the BRI while also allowing China to harness connections with its ally in order to get licenses and protection assurances for its projects. However, China’s inability to pitch CPEC as a roaring success and template has caused a setback to other BRI projects that are also in debt.

Pakistan and the CPEC problems

For Pakistan, CPEC was envisioned to be a boon when Chinese President Xi Jinping and the then Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif launched the CPEC in 2015. Seven years down the line, it has proved more of a curse for Pakistan’s economy. Islamabad was forced to import billions of dollars in materials for the project, which increased the country’s current account deficits. COVID-19 pandemic only added to the worries of the Islamic country.

Besides financial problems, security and corruption emerged as major issues plaguing the CPEC’s stretch passing through Pakistan. This is because a major part of this stretch passes through Balochistan and the Baloch people are resisting this project and the presence of the Chinese and Pakistani armed forces in the name of providing protection to and monitoring the construction works. Strong Baloch opposition to Islamabad’s control over their land has expressed itself in opposition to the CPEC projects.

The resource-rich Balochistan province, which has long been a hotbed for conflict, is a critical link in the CPEC. China is particularly interested in utilizing the area’s gold, gas, and coal reserves and wants to redevelop the dormant Gwadar port to get access to the Indian Ocean. According to analysts, the construction of a futuristic dock in Gwadar will open the door for the establishment of a Chinese army base there in the future. But this can be achieved in a streamlined manner only if there are no terror attacks, which seems to be a utopian case given that the site is in Pakistan.

Terrorist operations have frequently attacked CPEC infrastructure. Even Chinese soft power faces severe obstacles. Three Chinese instructors were among the four individuals slain by a Baloch suicide bomber at Karachi University earlier this year. China, therefore, urged Pakistan to take appropriate actions to avoid attacks on Chinese people working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) facilities in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.

On the other hand, CPEC has also faced stiff opposition from the Baloch people, who contend that their region is being used for Islamabad’s profit, causing the area to remain underdeveloped. On this backdrop, a third country entering this initiative in no way looks like a deal that could be mutually beneficial.

Uttar Pradesh: 4 families in Anwa village get threat letter signed by ISIS demanding a pen drive, map and threatening Sarin gas attack

On Saturday, four families in the city of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh received a threat letter signed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) warning of a huge terror attack in the year 2024. The families have also been warned about a sarin gas attack by the year 2024. The ISIS letter demanded a pen drive and a map that they claim belongs to them, and they will be killed if they don’t hand over the items.

“Maybe you people don’t know what is happening with you… I can take lives of you people whenever I want”, the letter roughly read adding that the pen drive has some videos which have been probably taken by some security agency officer who belongs to the same village. The pen drive that was hidden abroad will be brought to India by August 20, the letter stated.

Letter signed by ISIS (Image source- Times of India)

“These maps will be brought to India by August 20 and there is a plan to hand them over to Home Minister Amit Shah. That officer will try his best to hand over all those pen drives and maps to the government, but if he tries to do something all of you will be killed… I will never allow security agencies to reach you. So it is better to think about your future because by August 19, I will have every information about you along with your photo”, the letter signed by ISIS read.

It also threatened the family which is a resident of Anwa village in Shahbad Tehsil of Rampur of Sarin gas attack. “You also have to take care of Sarin Gas. A single mistake can kill many people”, the letter written on yellow paper read. It also blatantly mentioned that all the judges, leaders, officers, etc were on sale in India. Sarin gas is highly toxic and considered 20 times as deadly as cyanide.

The families, however, informed the Times of India that they don’t have any clue about the items that have been demanded by ISIS in the letter. The Police have reportedly been informed about the matter and the investigation is being done by the intelligence agencies to find out the seriousness of the threats and also whether the letter is fake or real.

Reports mention that the Police are scanning notorious elements in the village with the help of the local intelligence units. The police stated that there is no CCTV in the village which could have helped to identify who kept the letter outside the houses. While the letter has been written by someone who is educated, the police claim that the incident might be an attempt to disturb the peace in the village as all the families belong to the same faith.

A heavy police force has been deployed in the village which has a population of around 1200. Investigations in the case are underway.

West Bengal: Demand for flavoured condoms soars in Durgapur as youths get ‘high’ on them

Many regions in West Bengal’s Durgapur district have seen a sudden surge in the demand for flavoured condoms, after a few youths in the district are using it to get intoxicated.

The local administration is reportedly concerned about the sharp increase in condom demand. Apparently, as soon as the inventory of flavoured condoms arrives at the medical stores in City Centre, Benachiti, Muchipara, Bidhannagar, C Zone, and A Zone in the Durgapur district, it all disappears off the shelves in a jiffy.

When a shop owner inquired about the reason for the unexpected increase in demand for flavoured condoms, it was discovered that some youths were using them as a form of addiction. When he asked a young man, a regular customer at his shop, in response, the young man said, he regularly buys condoms to get intoxicated. The shopkeeper said that earlier he was only selling 3 to 4 packets of condoms daily, but now, his entire stock disappears the moment it arrives at the store.

How can a person get ‘high’ on condoms

News18 Bangla quoted an official as explaining that when flavoured condoms are soaked in hot water, some kind of alcoholic compound is released. The students are leaving that liquid for a long time, sometimes overnight, before drinking it. Officials claimed that the concoction gives the students a high for almost 10 to 12 hours.

“Condoms contain aromatic compounds. It breaks down to form alcohol. It is addictive. This aromatic compound is also found in dendrites glue. So many people use dendrite for addiction also,” said Dheeman Mandal, who works at Durgapur Divisional Hospital, while responding to this bizarre fascination.

Analyzing this further, Durgapur RE College Model School Chemistry teacher Nurul Haque said, “The long-term soaking of condoms in hot water causes intoxication due to the breakdown of large organic molecules into alcoholic compounds.”

Strange as it may sound, this is far from the first time that youths have experimented with novel and creative methods of getting high. For many, readily accessible household products, like cough syrup, glue, paint, nail polish, hand sanitisers, aftershave, balm or Iodex etc, continue to be their preferred substance.

In fact, in Nigeria, in the mid of 21st century, the sale of toothpaste and shoe ink increased 6 times than usual just because of addiction. And now, condoms are going off the shelves in Durgapur within a day or two, raising concerns for the district administration.

Man suing Christmas market for nearly 2 Crore rupees as he can’t stop farting since eating a ham roll there in 2017

46 years old Tyrone Prades is suing Frankfurt Christmas Market Ltd, operators of the Christmas market in Birmingham for over 200,000 British Pounds over a ham roll he ate in the market in 2017. Mr. Prades, of Chippenham, Wiltshire claims that his life has changed ever since eating the ham roll as he is unable to stop farting since then.

Prades says that he has developed flatulence ever since he ate that roll, and it embarrasses him in public. He also mentioned that his farts wake him up at night as well.

Prades, who runs a flooring company, says he developed severe pain in his stomach shortly after eating at the market and was subsequently bed-ridden for five weeks. He also claimed, through his lawyer, that others who ate at the same stall as him suffered from Salmonella.

Prades’ barrister informed the court that his client was sick for months, and continues to have flatulence five years later. The court was also informed that Prades continues to get churning noises from his gut.

The Frankfurt Christmas Market Ltd on its part has denied the blame for Mr. Prades’ farts. Its barrister, Philip Davy, admitted that the council environmental health officers found e.coli on a knife, but no salmonella was found. The barrister pointed out that Mr. Prades had not claimed he suffered an e.coli infection.

According to the ED, the massive cash stash is suspected to be proceeds of crime in connection with the SSC recruitment scam. A total of more than 20 mobile phones have also been recovered from the premises of Ms. Arpita Mukherjee, the purpose and use of which are being ascertained. Acharya was interrogated for around 12 hours before he was taken into custody. Reportedly, ED also recovered documents and electronic devices from his residence.

Partha Chatterjee was the state education minister from 2014 to 2021, and he had allegedly collected vast amounts of money from recruitment of teachers and other staff under the department. Currently he is industries and commerce minister.

2019 video shows Mamata Banerjee praising Arpita Mukherjee

Opindia had earlier reported how the West Bengal Chief Minister was seen heaping praises on the scam-tainted actress in a video dating back to September 28, 2019.

Odishai kaaj koro. Valo more koro. oh, korte? (Arpita has worked in Orissa. Keep up the good work. You have worked in Odisha in the past?),” Mamta Banerjee was heard as saying.

Odiya bolte paro valo more? Odisha te kaaj more Banglar meya…Agar baar o eschelo akhane… Bobby der okhane o jai (Can you speak Odiya? She is Bengal’s daughter who works in Odisha..She had come earlier too. She also visits Bobby [Firhad Hakim]),” the West Bengal CM remarked.

The video was shot at Naktala Udayan Sangha, the Durga Puja committee of TMC leader Partha Chatterjee. Reportedly, Arpita Mukherjee was the face of the promotional campaign for the event.
