‘Main Bhi Parda Karungi’: The viral song that glorifies burqa worn by ‘Muslim Qoam ki Beti’, here is what it means

In recent times, a song has acquired popularity among young Muslim girls in the country that praises Muslim women’s purdahs. The song portrays the pride of a Muslim woman when she wears a veil. This song has gone viral in recent times, and it has acquired even greater popularity after the hijab controversy in Karnataka.

The song is now used by young Muslim girls to promote Islamic veils, by performing dances on the song at public events.

The song essentially promotes Muslim women’s burqas, which cover their entire bodies, including their eyes. The actual name of the song is “Main Bhi Parda Karungi”. It is written by Mufti Kausar Roohani and sung by Zainab Roohani. It is produced by Roohani Media which is based in Pakistan. The following are translations of some of the lyrics used in the song.

Main Muslim Qoam ki beti hun, main parda karti hun

Allah rasul ke huqmon ki, main parwaah karti hun

Main muslim qoam ki beti hun main parda karti hun

I am a woman of Muslim faith, hence I do put a veil

I do worry about the orders of the prophet

I am a woman of Muslim faith, hence I do put a veil

Mere rab ki taar pardah ai, mere nabi ki chaahat parda hai

Paigaam jahaan ko ye dungi, main waada karti hun

My god wants a veil for me, my prophet wants a veil for me

I’ll convey this message to the world, I do hereby promise

Parde mein rehna hi meri haya ki quwat hai, parde mein rehna hi mere husn ki zinat hai

Fitnon se bara’at pardah hai, Quran ki hidayat pardah hai

Jannat ki khud ko hooron ki main malqa karti hun, main muslim qoam ki beti hun main parda karti hun

To live under the veil is the strength of my decency, to live under the veil is the beauty of my body

Veil provides safety from calamities, the advice of the Quran is a veil

I am the queen among the beautiful women in heaven, I am a woman of Muslim faith, hence I do put a veil

Aaghaz gunahon ka nazron se hota hai, ehsaas sazaon ka kabron se hota hai

Ab tak kiye gunahon ki main tauba karti hun, main muslim qoam ki beti hun main parda karti hun

The criminal activity starts with eyes, the realization of crime happens with graves

I do repent for the previous mistakes of my life, I am a woman of Muslim faith, hence I do put a veil

Kuffar ki aadat hai be dharmo aba rehna, shaitani bagawat hai besharmo haya rehna

Kuffar ke harbe jhaanso ki main chinta karti hun, main muslim qoam ki beti hun main parda karti hun

It is the habit of disbelievers (non-Muslims) to stay without faith, it is a rebellious evil to stay without decency

I am worried about the traps of disbelievers (non-Muslims), I am a woman of Muslim faith, hence I do put a veil

Private college in Mysuru allows Muslim girls to attend classes with hijab, cancels uniform rule

Amidst the ongoing hijab row in Karnataka, a private college in Mysuru has made a special exemption for female Muslim students and reportedly allowed them to attend classes with hijab. As per reports, the decision was made by the college on Friday (February 18). The college administration has also cancelled the uniform rule and thus became the first college in Karnataka to take such a decision.

Deputy Director of Pre-University (DDPU) in Mysuru, Dk Srinivasa Murthy, informed, “Four students refused to attend classes without hijab and were protesting. I visited the college and held discussions with all. Meanwhile, the college announced that it is cancelling its uniform rule to allow the students to attend classes.”

Siasat reported that the decision of the college was influenced by protests from hijabi students who shunned the interim order of the Karnataka High Court. It was then that the private college decided to do away with uniforms and allow hijabi girls to attend classes, in light of upcoming examinations.

It must be mentioned that on February 10, the Karnataka High Court had issued a preliminary ruling in the Hijab row case and instructed students and stakeholders to not wear any religious garments or headdresses till the case is resolved.

Karnataka hijab controversy

Recently, some Muslim students from the PU College in Karnataka filed a petition in the High Court to allow them to attend classes wearing Hijab. They were denied entry into classes because the college management stated that the hijab is not part of the uniform and it cannot be allowed in classes. Since then, the ‘students’ have been protesting while wearing burqas.

The Muslim students had started wearing hijab and burqa to their school, college in defiance of the uniform rules since December 2021 after coming in touch with the Campus Front of India (CFI), the student wing of the Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) in October 2021. The students had admitted being in consultation with the CFI.

Sanjay Raut abuses yet again, calls BJP leader Kirit Somaiya ‘C*utiya’ repeatedly

Shivsena leader Sanjay Raut’s tryst with abuses does not seem to end anytime soon. The leader on Sunday was seen repeatedly hurling the abuses at BJP leader Kirit Somaiya while speaking to the media in Mumbai.

While talking to the press on Sunday afternoon, Sanjay Raut was asked to comment on Kirit Somaiya’s statement over the KCR-Uddhav Thackeray meeting in Mumbai. The BJP leader had rhetorically asked whether Uddhav Thackeray had sought the permission of Congress-chief Sonia Gandhi before meeting Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao over an alleged Non-Congress, Non-BJP political alliance. To which, Sanjay Raut was seen replying, “Who has said this, I don’t know. There are a lot of C*utiyas in this country and it does not look good upon the media to report what such C*utiyas say about Shiv Sena.”

Hinting at the much alleged political alliance among regional parties, he added, “The national political discourse after 2024 will terminate such C*utiyas and such people will not live in this country afterwards. The politics after 2024 will become cleaner, more transparent and essentially more democratic. You will get to know about this on March 10,”

He asserted that some people from the BJP are insulting the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray when a Chief Minister from another state is visiting. This is an insult to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and also the insult of the 11.5 crore Marathi people. “For the language they (Somaiya) have used, I call them C*utiya and I repeat that. It is shameful that the Central Government is giving security to such people residing in Maharashtra,”

Earlier in the day Telangana Chief Minister met with Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackrey and MVA strongman Sharad Pawar in Mumbai.

It was only on February 15, earlier this week, Raut was seen giving a homophobic rant while speaking about the ongoing enquiries on Shiv Sena leaders in the state. He had cussed in a press conference saying, “Maharashtra is not a child of a g*ndu”. In December last year, Sanjay Raut had used the same vernacular slang ‘C*utiya’ against women BJP workers while justifying it by saying that the word means ‘stupid’. He had also called actress Kangana Ranaut ‘Haramkhor’ which had sparked much controversy in 2020.

Karnataka: Illegal statue of Jesus built on encroached land brought down by authorities in Kolar district

0

The Local administration in Mulbagal town of Kolar district demolished an illegal statue of Jesus Christ located in Gokunte, a village in Kolar district. According to the reports, the taluk administration, on the orders of Mulbagal Tehshildar Shobhita R, demolished a 20-feet illegal Jesus statue on Tuesday. The officers demolished the statue that was built on government land reserved for grazing animals.

On Monday, the officials, accompanied by hundreds of policemen, arrived in Gokunte. The illegal statue of Jesus that was built on encroached land was brought down around 3 am despite opposition by local residents. Shobhita said the High Court had ordered the demolition.

“We demolished the statue based on the High Court order,” Shobhita said. The officer added that the demolition was carried out after seven to eight hearings. The demolition order had been issued in March 2021, and the local administration had to submit a compliance report to the court by yesterday, the officer said.

Meanwhile, the local Christians have claimed that the statue demolition was illegal because the case was still pending in court. Speaking to the local media, they said that the incident has hurt the sentiments of the community. The Archbishop said that the local administration did not show any order to them.

“This is not the way the statue should have been demolished. There are intelligent ways in which it can be removed. They could have asked us to remove the statue, we would have done that. Our people were not allowed to go there. They were kept 200 metres away. All these insensitive things the government is doing is hurting us very much,” he lamented.

Selvarani G, a lawyer representing the Gokunte church, claimed the High Court had not given such orders.

0

Karnataka Waqf Board Chairman NK Muhammed Shafi Sa Adi has said that they are taking steps to reclaim the encroached waqf properties in the state. According to the reports, the Karnataka Waqf Board Chairman said legal action would be initiated against encroachers of waqf properties, irrespective of their background.

NK Muhammed Shafi Sa Adi said that there are 1.2 lakh acres of waqf properties in Karnataka, out of which nearly 75,000 acres of land have been encroached upon. He said efforts were made to encroach 300 acres of waqf properties in Yadgir and other places recently and added that they have been accelerating the legal fight against encroachments.

The Waqf Board has started its second survey to collect the data on newly registered properties in the state.

During the survey, the board has identified 12,055 properties in 152 taluks in the state. The details of registered waqf properties in 49 taluks have also been notified in the state gazette. The process of notification in the remaining cases is in progress.

The board has directed the officials to implement Waqf Properties Lease Rules 2014 (Amendment-2020) strictly. There are incidents of subleasing out the Wakf properties, which is a violation of the rules, and have resulted in a loss of revenue for the board. The Waqf Board will also take steps for the development of Waqf properties by setting up schools, colleges, hospitals, and commercial complexes.

Maharashtra: Ambajogai police bust illegal slaughterhouse and save 111 cattle, unknown culprits absconding

0

In a major crackdown on an illegal slaughterhouse in the Ambajogai city of the Beed district in Maharashtra, the police have recovered 111 cattle and have sent them to three nearby Goshalas. The police raided the slaughterhouse situated in the Barabhai Galli area of Ambajogai city at around 11 AM on 18th February 2022. The unknown culprits running the slaughterhouse who had left the spot before the police raid are still absconding and the police are in search of them.

A case was registered against the unidentified absconding owner of the slaughterhouse.

On Friday 18th February 2022, a joint police team led by DSP Sunil Jaybhaye had raided a slaughterhouse situated in the Barabhai Galli of Ambajogai city. According to a report by Daily Punya Nagari, SP of the Beed district R. Raja had received a tip from the informer that illegal slaughtering of the cattle is being practised in Ambajogai, especially in the Barabhai Galli. Additional SP office of Ambajogai and Ambajogai City police station was then contacted by the SP R. Raja and a joint team raided the said place. The culprits running the slaughterhouse had already absconded. The police saved 111 cattle including cows and bullocks.

The police have saved more than 100 cattle in the raid.

These cattle were then handed over to three nearby Goshalas. Late Gopinathrao Munde Gorakshan Shala at Varwati accepted the parenthood of some cattle while the remaining were given to other two Goshalas – one at Ghatnandur and the other at Kanherwadi near Parli city. The whole procedure lasted till 11 AM on 19th February 2022. Unfortunately, two cattle could not survive.

The police safely handed over these cattle to three nearby goshalas including Late Gopinath Munde Goraksham Shala.

Police Constable Wadkar had informed while talking to OpIndia, “This number is so huge for the local Goshalas that none of them could accommodate them alone. So we trifurcated the lot and handed the cattle over to the three Goshalas. They already lack cattle food as this already is a drought-prone area. The police have marked the house number and other details of that property. An application is given to the local Municipality office to get the details of the owners and occupants of the property where this slaughterhouse was operating.”

‘Unfortunately, two of the cattle lost their lives on the way to Goshala.’ : Police Constable Wadkar

He further informed, “Unfortunately, two of the saved cattle could not survive. They were already looking malnourished and added to it, they must have been frightened a lot. Actually, this was a joint operation by the SP R. Raja’s team who had received the tip and the local police led by the DSP Sunil Jaybhaye.”

The cattle were settled in respective Goshalas late in the night. The action started at 11 AM on 18th February 2022 lasted till 11 AM on the next day.

It is notable that this is the third time in the month of February 2022 that the police have taken action against cow trafficking and slaughtering. Earlier, on 17th February 2022, the police had caught a tempo (vehicle number MH08H4397) trafficking the cattle near Swami Ramanand Teerth Rural Medical College and Hospital and had saved eight cattle. A case was registered in the Ambajogai city police station against Shekh Raju Shekh Rafik and Shoeb Khureshi. Even before that, on 3rd February 2022, the police had raided a slaughterhouse in the same Barabhai Galli area and had saved 15 cattle. It was being discussed in the city for the last few days that a big racket of slaughterhouses is active in Ambajogai and hundreds of cattle are slaughtered and beef is sent elsewhere from Ambajogai.

Ambajogai has been known primarily for its Dharmic importance as this is the Teerth Kshetra of Goddess Yogeshwari which makes it one among the 51 Shakti Peethas in the Indian subcontinent. This has been the place of the first-ever Marathi poet Mukundaraja, a twelfth-century saint who wrote poetic commentaries on Upanishads and Vedas in the Marathi language. Ambajogai has been a strategically situated center of the Imperial Subsidiary Force of the British in the former Nizam territory. Geographically second highest in the Marathwada region, this city houses more than 30% Muslim population.

Recently, the Beed district has also been in the discussions for the banners raised in support of the hijab in Beed city and in Georai which is the hometown of the infamous terrorist Abu Jundal accused in the case of the 26/11 terror attacks of Mumbai. Ambajogai’s Municipality had unanimously passed a resolution in 1998 according to which there are no statues of any eminent personality in public places. People here have been following this as rule in order to maintain communal harmony despite the significant Muslim population. The sudden appearance of this holy city in the news about such a barbaric act is potent enough to disturb the social fabric and it has sent shock waves in the minds of the local citizens.

UP elections: Voter complaints that candidate’s photo not printed on VVPAT slip, Samajwadi Party falsely alleges that SP symbol was missing from EVM

On Sunday, while elections are going on at some districts in Uttar Pradesh, The Samajwadi Party had complained that at a certain polling booth in Farukkhabad, the EVM does not contain the ‘cycle’ symbol. Taking Cognizance of the allegation, The Fatehgarh Police has refuted the claims as baseless. One voter had complained that the photo of the candidate whom he had voted was not printed on the VVPAT slip. Samajwadi Party twisted to claim that its bicycle symbol was not present in the said booth.

It is notable that while the photographs of the candidates are printed along with their names and party symbols on the EVM ballot units, the photos are not printed on the VVPAT slips. Only the party symbol is printed on the slip.

On Sunday morning, while assembly elections in the third phase in the state started, the Samajwadi Party Twitter handle levelled multiple alleged mishappenings and discrepancies at different polling stations in Uttar Pradesh. Tweeting about the supposed disappearance of its ‘Cycle symbol’ on the EVM machine at booth number 38 in the village of Kirachan, The Samajwadi party asked the Election commission and district administration to look into the matter.

Soon after SP made the allegations, the media started to report the same without verifying the same, alleging serious mismanagement in the elections.

Taking cognizance of the case, the Fatehgarh Police replied back to the party handle on the social media platform. It was found that On booth no. 38, which fell under Amrutpur Police station, a 32-year-old voter named Kuldeep Yadav had complained over a call about the photo of the candidate not being printed on the VVPAT slip. After receiving the complaint, the officials explained to him that the party symbol is printed on the VVPAT slip and not the photo of the candidate. After this, the matter was resolved.

The Fatehgarh Police has asserted that the case was false and that elections are taking place at the booth in Kirachan in a sound way.

However, even before the Samajwadi party handle tweeted the information, journalists including Utkarsh Singh and Shyam Meera Singh were seen spreading the fake news without verification.

The Twitter handle of Fatehgarh Police took no time to bust the fake claims by Samajwadi Party handles and journalists who were caught in spreading the news.

At around 11:30 Am in the morning, The Samajwadi Party had made a similar allegation – that in Farukkhabad, on booth no 110, a police inspector named Prabhakar Pawar was not allowing voters to vote.

However, it was later found that a certain voter was caught with an argument with the policeman who interrupted him for wearing a mask, pertaining to Covid-19 protocols. The Fatehgarh Police asserted, “The voting at the polling station is not affected in any way, nor is anyone being prevented from voting in any way. The allegations made are false and untrue.”

Repeated allegations made by Samajwadi Party have been refuted by concerned authorities throughout the day. The state has recorded a voter turnout of 48.81% till 3 PM.

‘Action will be taken if he steps out of his house’: EC orders Sonu Sood to stay at home after he was visiting polling booths in Moga, police impound his car

The election commission on Sunday 20th February 2022 restricted actor Sonu Sood from entering a polling booth in Moga of Punjab from where the actor’s sister is contesting the assembly elections on a Congress ticket. The actor has been accused of influencing the voters. The election commission has also seized his car after a complaint was filed by Shiromani Akali Dal. This action was taken in order to restrict him from entering various polling booths. EC officers have instructed him to stay at his place.

Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood Sachar is contesting the assembly polls from the Moga constituency on a Congress ticket. It is alleged that Sonu Sood was visiting various polling booths in the constituency to campaign for his sister, which is illegal as campaigning on the day of voting and campaigning at polling booths is not allowed as per election rules. Moreover, as Sonu Sood is not a voter in the Moga constituency, he can’t go to any of the polling booths. Therefore, EC officials have ordered him to stay at home and not come out, saying that action will be taken against him if he steps out of his house in Moga.

Moga district PRO Pradbhdeep Singh said while informing the news agency ANI, “Sonu Sood was trying to enter a polling booth. During this, his car was confiscated and he was sent home. Action will be taken against him if he steps out of his house.”

SDM-cum-returning officer Satwant Singh ordered Sonu Sood to remain in his house, and ordered video surveillance of the house to ensure compliance with the order. “I have directed Sonu Sood to remain in his house because is not allowed to move in the area as he doesn’t have vote in Moga constituency. However, he violated the direction. Therefore, I have directed video surveillance of his house,” the officer said. Accordingly, a flying squad team has been deputed outside Sood’s house.

After impounding Sonu Sood’s luxury SUV, a Ford Endeavour, it was taken to the city police station. SHO Davinder Singh said, “the SUV has been impounded on the basis of suspicious activity. We have received a complaint that the SUV was taking rounds near the polling booth at Landheke village. We have impounded it. Further action is underway.”

Meanwhile, the actor has tweeted and alleged other candidates of buying the votes. He has written in his recent tweet, “Other Candidates in Moga Constituency are buying votes. Election Commission should take immediate action regarding the same.”

Reportedly, explaining his visit to the booth Sonu Sood had also said, “We got to know of threat calls at various booths by the opposition, especially the people of Akali Dal. Money is being distributed at some booths. So it’s our duty to go check and ensure fair elections. That is why we had gone out. Now, we are at home. There should be fair polls.”

It is notable that Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood Sachar is contesting the assembly elections from the Moga constituency of Punjab on a Congress ticket. She has expressed her confidence in winning the elections. She has said, “I feel positive for today. A lot of people are calling up including those from foreign countries and are cheering up for my support. Many of them have assured me to vote for me today. If people think that Sonu Sood is a star, then it’s an icing on the cake for me.”

she added, “I have worked a lot for the welfare of the people. We have done many social works. I don’t think any other candidate has done so much social work.” She had joined the Congress party on 10th January 2022 in Moga.

Bhojpuri and Magahi out, Urdu stays: Latest controversy from Jharkhand and what we know about it

The Linguistic department of the Jharkhand Government in a fresh notification has removed Bhojpuri and Magahi as regional languages for the Dhanbad and Bokaro districts of Jharkhand. The fresh advisory, however, retains the status of Urdu as a regional language in every district of Jharkhand. The move has met with massive uproar since the announcement.

On February 18, The principal secretary to the Jharkhand Government issued a fresh notification in which the list of regional languages for districts in the state was directed. For the districts of Bokaro and Dhanbad, five languages including Nagpuri, Urdu, Khortha, Kurmali and Bangla were given the status of regional languages. After the release, Locals have alleged that Bhojpuri and Magahi were missing from the list.

In the list formulated by the government, Urdu finds a place as a regional language in all 24 districts of Jharkhand whereas Hindi is not recognised as a regional language even in any single district. While Urdu retains its place constant, even regional dialectic languages like Nagpuri, Kurmali and Angika keep changing their status as identified regional languages across the districts.

While considering the linguistic data of Jharkhand, while the Hindi speaking population constitutes a total of 21.4%, The tribal languages of Kortha, Santhali, Nagpuri, alongside dominate the linguistic composition in the state. When it comes to the district of Bokaro, the recent list does not include the languages of Hindi and Magahi which constitute up to 35.4% and 10.2% of the populations respectively.

The Controversy

While Hindi has been completely omitted as an official language in the districts, many have alleged that Bhojpuri and Magahi have been dropped from the list despite having considerable speakers in the state. According to Indian Express, the languages were omitted because of the protests held in several parts of the state in December 2021, over the inclusion of Bhojpuri and Magahi in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations for appointments in Bokaro and Dhanbad districts.

On Saturday, Education minister Jagarnath Mahato clarified the government’s stance on the issue. While speaking to the media he said, “There is no village in Dhanbad and Bokaro districts where the Bhojpuri language is spoken. Those who speak Bhojpuri have come from Bihar. We have considered Urdu language as regional because it is spoken in every district”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had earlier taken down on this stand stating that Bhojpuri and Magahi are spoken down across Bihar and Jharkhand since both the states were a single political unit at a time. He asked, “Do Bhojpuri & Magahi belong to just one state? Bhojpuri is spoken in UP too. Bihar-Jharkhand was one. It (language) is for all, “

Netizens are calling out the exclusion of Bhojpuri and Magahi while the languages are being labelled as ‘coming from outside’. In fierce stands, people are also calling out Urdu’s dominance as a regional language as an act of pandering to minority appeasement.

Earlier in Jharkhand, a controversy had erupted over the removal of Hindi from the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission exams whereas Urdu was retained. Looks like the Hemant Soren-led government is in the mood to score a political goal while playing linguistic politics and minority appeasement.

Islamists attack wife of an army man for narrating a story of her hijabi friend and her daughter, accuse her of ‘appeasement’

On Saturday (February 19), author and army wife Ambreen Zaidi came under a vicious attack from Islamists after she narrated a story of her friend who disciplined her child for prioritising hijab over her education.

In a tweet, Zaidi wrote, “A friend who wears a hijab, her daughter in class 9, told her that some girls want to show solidarity to the other girls in hijab in school, so they’ll also wear. My friend gave 2 tight slaps & told her to focus on studies &decide on Hijab/burqa when she finishes her education.”

The author of ‘Warrior Widows’ emphasised that the child was protected from being misguided after she was disciplined by her friend.

Islamists cry foul, make personal attacks at Ambreen Zaidi

Islamists were miffed by the decision of her friend to not impose the hijab on her child or indoctrinate her with sermons of ‘Pehale Hijab, Phir Kitaab.’ One Islamist resorted to slut-shaming the author and while hailing and wishing that the girl become a slave of Allah.

He tweeted, “Shame on you & your friend. Feel like sl** you both. But no. Allah will deal with you both….Proud of that 9th-grade girl. May Allah save her from misguided upbringing & make her obedient #slave of #Allah.”

“This is not a behaviour to be proud of. A muslimah who dons the hijab for Allah’s pleasure will never behave in such a way. There are people who do it for insta reels etc., which defies its purpose (and are committing a greater sin),” wrote another Islamist.

One Islamist declared that the mother of the 9th Std girl has an evil influence on the child. “May Allah protect these kids from evil influence of parents. May Allah guide these parents who are forcing their kids to disobey Allah’s command,” wrote one Zubair.

One Mohammed Shahid remarked, “You are showing ‘modern attitude’ for no reason. This is not about rules but oppression, public humiliation and insults. If you agree to not wear niqab, then, they (Hindus) will shame you for some other reason. Look at their nature. Allah has given you brain. Use it.”

Another Islamist alleged that ‘liberals’ discipline their children, owing to hate for Islam.

One Aurangzeb claimed that Ambreen Zaidi had been trying to appease the Hindu community. “This is how munaafiqeen look for external validation, building up tales after tales,” he wrote.

Karnataka hijab controversy

They were denied entry into classes because the college management stated that the hijab is not part of the uniform and it cannot be allowed in classes.
