‘No hijab when they make TikTok videos, but they want to wear it inside classroom’: Non-hijabi students in Karnataka say protests spoiling their education

The Hijab controversy has intensified across the country, especially in Karnataka, as Muslim students are openly violating the Karnataka High Court’s interim order by attempting to enter the educational institutions by wearing hijab and burqa.

Amidst the disobedience of existing laws by a section of Muslim students, there is a sense of despair among Hindu as well as other non-hijabi students. The non-Muslim students are facing the heat of this hijab row as the dress code has become the main issue, relegating academics and studies into the background.

The non-Muslim students are the worst hit due to the hijab protests in the state, whose voices are being ignored by the left-liberal media establishment. However, these students have now come on the streets to share their grievances, saying that their education and academics are being affected due to the protests by Muslim students against the hijab ban.

One young girl student speaking to media said that the Muslim girls would come to schools without hijab if education is important to them. However, it is not the case, they just want to fight, so they insist on wearing the hijab.

“These Muslim students do not have any problem when they shoot videos on Instagram, TikTok by removing hijab, but in college, they do not want to. So our education is getting spoiled due to them,” said one student.

Another girl student voiced a similar opinion saying that classes are being held, however, due to protests situation has changed. “We all come from low-income families. Our parents are daily-wage labourers who strive hard to send us to school. However, due to the protests, we face challenges to education,” the student expressed her helplessness.

Muslim students openly violate High Court order

Earlier, we had reported on how non-Muslim students had stepped up their protest against the provocative act of Muslim students to violate the existing uniform guidelines enforced by the state government.

As the court proceedings are still ongoing, the court advised that all students should stick to the prescribed dress code of the educational institutions. The college authorities in Udupi have been pleading the girls to follow the dress code and start attending classes, but the Muslim students have made it clear that Hijab is their priority, and the college should bend to their demands.

There were several instances reported when people defied the court’s advice and insisted on entry into schools and colleges with full-body burqas. The Muslim students, backed by the PFI and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, have been disobeying the uniform dress code rules and insisting on wearing the Islamic attire of Burqa inside the classroom.

In response, Hindu students had launched a protest, saying that if Muslim girls are allowed an exemption to the dress code on religious grounds, they will be coming to college with saffron shawls too.

The Gujarat High Court confirmed the lower court’s ruling, but the six convicts were acquitted by the Supreme Court. Maulana stated that if necessary, he will take the case to the Supreme Court.

PM Modi expressed his views on the comprehensive economic partnership agreement signed today. He further added, “This agreement represents the strong friendship, common attitude, and trust shared by the two countries. I believe that this will initiate a new era of the economic relationship we have. I hope that the trade between the two countries will increase from $60 billion to $100 billion in the upcoming five years.”

Underlining the ways to achieve this feat, Modi further said, “We can promote the start-ups from both the countries through joint incubation and joint financing. Likewise, we can also cooperate with each other by setting up advanced institutes of excellence for the skill development of our people.”

Amit Shah assures Punjab CM Channi of a thorough probe into AAP’s alleged links with Khalistani organisation ‘Sikhs For Justice’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday assured Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi of “personally looking into” allegations of alleged links between banned Khalistani organisation ‘Sikhs for Justice’ and the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP).

Shah wrote a letter to Punjab CM Channi informing him that the government of India has taken the matter seriously and that he would personally ensure that the matter is looked into in detail.

In his letter, Amit Shah wrote: “As per your letter, a political party who is alleged to have been in contact with and soliciting support from an anti-national, separatist and banned outfit during elections is a serious matter in the context of national security.”

“The agenda of such people is in accordance with the agenda of the nation’s enemies. It is deplorable that some people, in order to grab power, can go to the extent of joining hands with separatists and endangering the integrity of Punjab and the country,” the letter said.

Shah further added, “I assure you that no one will be allowed to imperil the nation’s unity. The Government of India is taking this issue seriously and I will personally look into the matter in depth.”

Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi writes to Amit Shah seeking a probe into alleged ties between AAP and SFJ

The letter was in response to a letter written by Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi seeking a probe into alleged ties between AAP and pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).

In his letter to the Union Home Minister, the Punjab Chief Minister said, “Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), which is a banned organization, is in constant touch with Aam Admi Party. The SFJ has given support to AAP in the elections to the State Assembly in 2017 and similarly in these elections too. The SFJ has exhorted the electorate to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party.”

“This is a serious issue of compromising the security and integrity of the country and thus needs to be investigated. I would urge you to immediately get this matter investigated for taking appropriate action in this regard,” Channi said in his letter addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

It is worth noting that former AAP member Kumar Vishwas had earlier this week accused Arvind Kejriwal of harbouring separatist dreams. He said that at one point, Kejriwal claimed he would either become Chief Minister of Punjab or will become first Prime Minister of an independent nation (Khalistan). Today, Kumar reiterated his allegations against Kejriwal, saying that the AAP supremo met terror sympathisers in his home during the last assembly elections in Punjab.

Assembly polls for all 117 assembly seats in Punjab will take place on February 20 and the results will be declared on March 10.

Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar sent to ED custody till 24th February in a money laundering case

Iqbal Kaskar, brother of the infamous gangster Dawood Ibrahim, was sent to ED custody till 24th February 2022 in a money laundering case on Friday. Kaskar was imprisoned in Thane in an extortion case and was brought before the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court today.

ED had recently registered a money laundering case against Dawood Ibrahim and his aides for their involvement in funding the terror activities and had arrested him earlier in the day. The ED will now interrogate Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar, his aides, and gang members in the case. The ED’s plea to take Iqbal Kaskar in custody was approved by the special court.

On February 16, the special court in Mumbai had issued a production warrant against Kaskar in a money laundering case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Moreover, the court directed the Taloja Central Jail authorities to produce Kaskar before it after ED’s counsel Hiten Venegavkar requested the court to do so. Accordingly, ED had arrested him from the jail today and produced him before special PMLA judge M G Deshpande.

Iqbal Kaskar’s lawyer Sultan Khan argued that Iqbal Kaskar is being harassed just because he happens to be the brother of Dawood Ibrahim. The lawyer told the court, “Iqbal had no relation with Dawood Ibrahim after Dawood had left the country. Iqbal Kaskar has nothing to do with the matter that ED has to investigate. Iqbal Kaskar has been in jail for several months.”

Iqbal Kaskar was allegedly working for his brother and handling his gang activities and illegal business interests in Mumbai and other areas. Recently, it was known that Dawood Ibrahim’s gang was operating in the country and that it was running terror activities, trying to disrupt law and order.

Earlier this week, ED had raided various locations in Mumbai as the ED has registered a money laundering case against Pakistan-based fugitive Dawood Ibrahim based on an FIR registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). It is notable that some of the places are in the Nagpada area which was once a stronghold area of Dawood Ibrahim.

Kaskar was made an accused in the money laundering case registered by the ED against Pakistan-based fugitive Dawood Ibrahim after his name had emerged during the interrogation of Salim Qureshi, a close aide of Chhota Shakeel, the dreaded underworld gangster and a high-ranking leader of Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company.

Iqbal Kaskar is already lodged in a jail in Thane after he was arrested on September 9, 2017, for forcibly extorting one flat and ₹90 lakh as protection money from builder Suresh Jain.

‘Ahmedabad serial blasts were a broad pan-India conspiracy, then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi was one of the high-profile targets’: IPS Abhay Chudasama

Following the much-awaited verdict, IPS officer Abhay Chudasama, who was the DCP(Crime) during the Ahmedabad blasts, lauded the judgement saying that he was happy that justice was finally delivered after all the painstaking effort. Abhay Chudasama was part of the special team of Ahmedabad Crime Branch led by senior IPS officer Ashish Bhatia that uncovered the terror plot.

Speaking to News18, Abhay Chudasama, one of the chief investigations of the Ahmedabad bomb blast case, said, “It’s a big day for me. This is a landmark judgement. My team and I are very happy with the decision. This case was a big challenge for us. We are happy that justice is delivered”.

The 1999-batch IPS officer said the serial blasts that occurred On July 26, 2008, resulted in at least 60 deaths. The initial investigations revealed certain significant information regarding the terrorists and their movements near Bharuch district.

“We reached a house in Bharuch, from where we recovered chemicals and explosives. We recovered a telephone number and fake SIM cards. One of the numbers recovered from the terrorists were also linked to the Indian Mujahideen terrorists, who were neutralised in the Batla House encounter on September 19 2008,” Chudasama said.

The police officer also revealed that the terrorists had conspired to kill high-level targets such as the then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, in addition to targeting civilians. He said that terrorists had triggered the bombs in the evening in about 18 locations and two more inside the LG and Civil hospitals as they expected high-level targets to visit the spot on the day of terror attacks.

The police officer also recounted that the blasts at the hospitals were so intense that the body parts of the victims were found almost 200 metres away from their bodies. Abhay Chudasama also said that the Ahmedabad blasts were part of a broad pan-India conspiracy as the Indian Mujahideen terrorists were involved in terror attacks in Jaipur and Delhi.

Ahmedabad blasts

As many as 22 bombs went off in Ahmedabad on July 26, 2008, at various places, buses, cars, including the state government-run civil hospital, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation-run LG Hospital, killing 56 persons and leaving 200 injured. Of the total 24 bombs, two bombs placed at Kalol and Naroda did not go off.

Within three weeks of the attack, major arrests, in this case, had taken place owing to the coordinated efforts of the Gujarat police and the ATS. A big network of the Indian Mujahidin terrorists was exposed. These terrorists were also involved in the bomb blasts in other cities of the country.

The Gujarat police had claimed that these attacks were executed as an attempt to take revenge for the 2002 post-Godhra riots. Indian Mujahidin was a section of the banned organisation Students Islamic Movement of India that is SIMI. The terrorists have threat emails about these blasts to various news channels and media houses. Also, a few days after the blasts, a large number of live bombs were found and defused in Surat city of Gujarat.

Almost thirteen years later, the special court in Ahmedabad convicted 49 people for their role in the Ahmedabad serial blasts case.

Indian embassy in Kuwait calls out Shashi Tharoor for endorsing an anti-India tweet by a ‘Pakistani agent’

The official Twitter account of the Indian embassy in Kuwait slammed Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for retweeting an “anti-India tweet” posted by a “Pakistani agent”, asserting that such anti-India elements should not be encouraged.

“Sad to see an Hon’ble Member of Indian Parliament retweeting an anti-India tweet by a Pakistani agent who was the recipient of a Pakistani Award ‘Ambassador of Peace’ for his anti-India activities. We should not encourage such anti-India elements,” the official Twitter account of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait tweeted along with the picture of “Ambassador of Peace” certificated awarded by Pakistan to one Majbel Alshureha.

The embassy’s response was to a tweet posted by Shashi Tharoor, who quoted a Twitter handle that said a group of powerful Kuwaiti parliamentarians have sought the country’s government to put an immediate ban on the entry of any member of the ruling BJP into the country. The tweet was posted by Majbel Alshureha Al Rashidi, who purports himself to be a ‘human rights activist’. Several Congress supporters and social media users sympathetic to the Congress also retweeted Alshureha’s tweet to target the Centre over the hijab row.

Quoting the Twitter post, Tharoor said, “Domestic actions have international repercussions. I hear from friends across the Gulf of their dismay at rising Islamophobia in India &the PM’s unwillingness to condemn it, let alone act decisively against it. ‘We like India. But don’t make it so hard for us to be your friends’,” Tharoor had tweeted.

Earlier this week, the Ministry of External Affairs reiterated its stand on criticism by some countries over the hijab row in Karnataka, stating that comments by outsiders on internal issues will not be acceptable.

‘Can you declare you are against Khalistan?’: Kumar Vishwas challenges Arvind Kejriwal after he denies separatist charge

Former AAP member Kumar Vishwas on Friday hit back at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal after the latter rejected allegations of harbouring separatist dreams, terming them “comedy” and characterising himself as the world’s “sweetest terrorist”. Lashing out at Kejriwal, Vishwas said the AAP supremo met terror sympathisers in his home during the last assembly elections in Punjab.

In his interview with ANI, Vishwas said that Kejriwal and AAP party were consorting with separatists and terror sympathisers during the run-up to the Punjab assembly elections in 2017.

“Nobody called you a terrorist. But, we would like to know, didn’t people who sympathised with terror organisations come to your home during the last assembly elections in Punjab? When I raised an objection against it, I was ousted from the party’s Punjab meetings. I somehow got into one of the meetings and saw the same people attending it. When I warned him(Kejriwal) about the people he was fraternising with, he told me it will benefit us,” Vishwas said.

In a scathing attack against Kejriwal, Vishwas said the AAP supremo has two strong suits—one is to lie through his teeth with remarkable confidence and the other one is to pull out a victim card and claim that the entire world is targeting him. “He used these strong suits to first deceive the country, then his party associates, and finally the people of a state,” Vishwas said.

Calling Kejriwal’s allegations that he is being targeted by the opposition parties a sham, Vishwas challenged him to announce that he will be fighting against Khalistan and Khalistanis and would not let them flourish under his rule. “I challenge Kejriwal, can he denounce Khalistan? Can he proclaim that he will be fighting against Khalistanis? Can he declare that Khalistan will never become a reality?” Vishwas asked.

Arvind Kejriwal claims to be ‘world’s sweetest terrorist’ after Kumar Vishwas accused him of harbouring separatist dreams

Earlier today, Kejriwal played victim to fend off allegations of harbouring separatist tendencies that were levelled against him by Kumar Vishwas in an earlier interview. Kejriwal rubbished the allegations as “comedy”, and alleged that he might be the world’s “sweetest terrorist” for building schools and hospitals.

On February 16, during an interview with news agency ANI, former Aam Aadmi Party leader and poet Dr Kumar Vishwas called out Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal for extending support to separatists. He said that at one point, Kejriwal claimed he would either become Chief Minister of Punjab or will become first Prime Minister of an independent nation (Khalistan).

Vishwas was talking about Kejriwal’s campaigns in the Punjab assembly elections. He said Kejriwal should understand Punjab is not just a state but an emotion. He said, “Amidst this, a person like him, whom I suggested not take support from the separatists and fringe elements who were linked to the Khalistani movement in the last elections, and he told me not to worry. When I asked him how he would become CM, he told me the formula as well. He is on the same path. Even if he is not on the same path, he will use a puppet to control the government.”
