Ravi Shastri had advised Virat Kohli to quit not just T20 but ODI captaincy as well, says Report

0

Days after cricketer Virat Kohli announced his decision to quit as the captain of the Indian T20 team after T20 World Cup in October, a report by India Ahead News says coach Ravi Shastri had suggested Kohli to leave the captaincy of ODI cricket team as well.

According to the report, Shastri had made the suggestion a month before Kohli announced stepping down as the skipper of India’s T20 team. Shastri had then suggested the prolific run-getter, who is on a patch currently, to give up the white ball captaincy altogether, which includes ODIs, and focus on his batting while leading India in Test cricket.

The suggestion was reportedly made not with the aim of questioning Kohli’s captaincy skills but inspiring him to continue being the top batsman in the world. But Kohli was keen on continuing as ODI team captain and therefore, he did not heed Shastri’s advice in entirety and opted only to give up the captaincy of India’s T20 squad.

Sources quoted in the report say the discussions surrounding Kohli’s captaincy cropped up after India’s victory in Australia without their regular captain. It was also considered that Kohli may have to pass the baton of ODI captaincy at some point around the 2023 world cup if things do not turn out to be as planned by the Indian cricket management.

However, a BCCI insider quoted by India Ahead News added that Kohli should continue to harbour the dream of leading the team in the 2023 world cup. “Had Kohli been a really bad captain, India could not have stayed at the number 1 position. It’s just that he is yet to win us an ICC trophy, which could happen any time soon,” the BCCI insider was quoted as saying.

Virat Kohli announces stepping down from the captaincy of India’s T20 team

On September 16, Virat Kohli announced stepping down from the T20 captainship. In a statement released on his social media accounts, Kohli said, “I’ve decided to step down as the T20 Captain after this T20 World Cup in Dubai in October.”

Citing a busy schedule and workload by paying three formats and regularly captaining for over five years, he said that he needed to give himself space to be fully ready to lead the Indian Cricket Team in Test an ODI. He said, “Understanding workload is a very important thing and considering my immense workload over the last 8-9 years playing all three formats and captaining regularly for last 5-6 years, I feel I need to give myself space to be fully ready to lead the Indian Team in Test and ODI cricket.”

UP conversion racket: ATS arrests Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui for suspicious activities, AAP’s Amanatullah Khan cries foul

The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad on Wednesday made yet another arrest in the biggest conversion racket that was unearthed in June this year. Islamic scholar Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, who is one of the biggest clerics from western UP, was detained on charges of religious conversions.

The 64-year-old Islamic scholar runs Jamia Imam Waliullah trust that funds several madrassas for which he received huge foreign funding, the police said.

Uttar Pradesh ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar informed, “Investigation shows Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui’s trust received Rs 3 crores in foreign funding including Rs 1.5 from Bahrain.”

Siddiqui was on the radar of security agencies and was nabbed from Meerut last night. The police official further said that six teams have been formed to investigate the matter further. The Islamic scholar too is being interrogated by UP police.

AAP MLA condemns the arrest

Aam Aadmi Party MLA, Amanatullah Khan has condemned the arrest of the Islamic scholar calling it ‘atrocities on Muslims’.

AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan’s Tweet

“Maulana Kaleem Siddiqui, a famous Islamic scholar, has been arrested before the elections in Uttar Pradesh. The atrocities on Muslims are increasing. The silence of secular parties on these issues is giving more strength to the BJP. BJP, how much will you fall to win the election?” he tweeted.

Khan had earlier called for beheading of Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati of Dasna Temple, Ghaziabad over allegedly blasphemous remarks. He has also been accused of giving false communal colour to a petty crime.

Crores received through hawala

The UP ATS initiated a massive investigative operation after the arrest of one Umar Gautam and his aide accused of mass conversions. Reportedly, the duo ran an organisation named Islamic Dawah Centre(IDC), along with their other associates, to mass convert people into Islam through inducements such as marriage, job and money and mental pressure.

They have also been accused of targeting differently-abled children to convert and use them as human bombs. Moreover, the investigation has also revealed the illegal foreign funding received by Gautam and his accomplices.

In August, the Vadodara police informed that one of the ‘UP conversion racket’ accused Salahuddin Sheikh has been involved in funding terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir. He had also received ₹60 crores through hawala schemes and ₹19 crores through foreign donations.

The funding was being used for conversions and building mosques in different states of India. Since Sheikh was in touch with several people from Jammu and Kashmir, the police is also probing his possible involvement in terror activities or funding.

All the accused in the matter are currently under arrest and being interrogated.

Asaduddin Owaisi claims his Delhi residence ‘vandalised’, five ‘Hindu Sena’ men detained

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s house in Delhi’s Ashoka Road has been allegedly vandalised by some miscreants. According to reports, the incident took place around 4 pm on Tuesday, September 21. Asaduddin Owaisi was in Uttar Pradesh when the alleged incident happened.

In a series of tweets, Owaisi claimed: “My Delhi residence was vandalised by radicalised goons. Their cowardice is well known and as usual, they came in a mob, not alone. They also chose a time when I was not home. They were armed with axes and sticks, they pelted stones at my house, and my nameplate was destroyed.”

“Raju, the caretaker of the house for the last 40 years, was assaulted. The mob shouted communal slogans and threatened to kill me. Raju’s grandkids are living in fear now. Raju has filed a complaint with the police. Hope action will be taken,” he added.

Asaduddin Owaisi claims the caretaker of his house was assaulted, Delhi police refutes claim

Though Owaisi has claimed that his house help- Raju, who was in the house when the incident took place, was assaulted by the miscreants, senior Delhi Police officers said there was no mention of anyone being assaulted in the complaint.

According to reports, the miscreants broke a lamp atop the main gate and the nameplate placed outside the MP’s residence. The accused also allegedly pelted stones and an axe at the parliamentarian’s residence while calling him “jihadi”.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Deepak Yadav said they received information regarding the incident at around 5 pm and rushed to the spot and detained five men allegedly belonging to the Hindu Sena.

All five detained men are residents of Northeast Delhi’s Mandoli area, Yadav informed, adding that during the initial interrogation, the accused are claimed to have expressed displeasure with Owaisi’s communal statements that have Hinduphobic undertones.

Recently, the Uttar Pradesh police have registered two FIRs against the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in connection with his public meeting in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki on Thursday, September 9. He was accused of disturbing communal harmony by delivering a speech through which he tried to provoke Muslims by making false references to the razing of an ancient mosque. Owaisi was also accused of making indecent and baseless remarks against the PM and the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the accused under sections 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act at Delhi’s Parliament Street police station.

Supreme Court stays NCDRC order directing YRF to compensate viewer for excluding ‘Jabra Fan’ song from Shah Rukh Khan movie Fan

On September 20, the Supreme Court of India stayed an order issued by National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) in which the forum had directed Yash Raj Films Pvt Ltd to pay Rs.10,000 as compensation along with litigation costs to the complainant Afreen Fatima Zaidi. Reportedly, Zaidi had filed a case in the consumer court against YRF for excluding the ‘Jabra Fan’ song from the movie Fan starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Acting on the petition filed by Yash Raj Films Pvt Ltd, a bench comprising of Justices Hemant Gupta and V Ramasubramanium issued notices to the Central Board of Film Certification and the complainant in the matter.

The promotional song ‘Jabra Fan’ from the movie fan over which the whole case has been based upon

Zaidi claimed her family felt disappointed

In her complaint, Zaidi, who is a teacher by profession, had alleged that she and her children went to see the movie Fan based on the trailer that included the Jabra Fan song. However, the song was missing from the movie. As a result, her children were disappointed and did not eat food after coming back from the theatre. It led to a spike in their acidity levels and hospitalization.

The petition was first filed by her in the district consumer forum that dismissed the petition. Zaidi did not stop there and moved to the state commission. After hearing the arguments, the State Commission directed Yash Raj Films Pvt Ltd to pay Rs.10,000 along with the litigation fees under applicable Sections of the Consumer Protection Act. Yash Raj Films moved to the National Forum against the decision.

NCDRC called it unfair trade practice

In the order, NCDRC stated that as the complainant had paid for the ticket, though not directly to the producer, i.e. YRF, the producer can be still held responsible. The forum had said, “The consideration may also flow to the seller of the goods or the service provider as the case, maybe through an intermediary. The complainant paid the price of the ticket to the Exhibitor. The price of the ticket received by the Exhibitor, after excluding the tax component, is shared between the Exhibitor, Distributor and Producer of the movie. This is not the case of the petitioner that no part of the price of the tickets was received by them through the Exhibitor/Distributor of the movie. Therefore, it cannot be accepted that the complainant was not a consumer of the petitioner.” NCDRC said that excluding the song from the movie was an ‘unfair trade practice’ and imposed a fine on YRF.

YRF said they informed viewers about the exclusion of the song

In its plea, Yash Raj Films stated that it was disclosed to the public via press interviews that the song Jabra Fan would not be a part of the movie. The company further claimed that the complainant was not a direct customer of the production house; thus, they could not be termed as a party in the case. The payment was made to the theatre and not to the production house directly.

Did YRF inform Jabra Fan would not be part of the movie?

We checked the series of events around the release of the song and the movie to see if what YRF was saying was correct. The movie Fan was released on April 15, 2016. The song Jabra Fan was released on February 16, 2016, as a promotion. The complainant said that she was not aware that it was just a promo song, but YRF is correct in its defence that they had informed the public that it was a promo song.

There are several reports immediately after the release of the song saying that it would be played in credentials. Such reports could be found here and here. The production house had said, “The film won’t feature the song, but this will make it to the end credits for sure. This song celebrates the fandom that everyone enjoys, especially Shah Rukh Khan in India and abroad. So it won’t be missed for sure.”

It is evident that it was properly informed that the song was only part of the promotions, but it was said to have had been played during the credits towards the end of the movie. As most of the viewers leave the theatre as soon as the credit reel starts, it is possible Zaidi and her family left the theatre thinking the movie had ended and missed the song.

Assam government sends the message that rhino horns have no value, burns 2479 horns on the occasion of World Rhino Day

On the occasion of World Rhino Day today, the Assam government destroyed 2479 rhino horns by burning them at a ceremony in Bokakhat, attended by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The horns, primarily seized from poachers and smugglers, and also collected from rhinos that died naturally in the state’s forests, were preserved at various treasuries in various districts for several decades.

Before burning the horns in six big gas chambers, religious rituals were performed as the last rites of the horns and the rhinos that owned them. After the rituals, the gas chambers were torched amid the chants of hymns and sounds of conches.

Addressing the gathering at the event, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that after rhinos die, they are buried. But to prevent horns from being stolen from the bodies of dead rhinos by poachers, they are cut and preserved. Now with the burning of the horns, their last rites will be completed.

Responding to the criticism of the move by some people saying that govt could have earned good money by selling the horns, the CM said that just like we don’t sell the kidneys after the death of our near and dear ones, we can’t sell the body parts of wildlife after their death, which is also illegal. He further added that if the govt decides to sell the horns, it will show that the govt acknowledges that the horns have value, but the govt wants to give a completely opposite message, that the horns have no value, medicinal or otherwise.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said the horns have value only when it is attached to a living rhino. After death, they have no value, and the last rites of their mortal remains must be done. It is notable that a rhino horn is just a bundle of hairs, it is made up of keratin, a protein found in fingernails and hair. As such, it does not have any medicinal value, despite the superstitions associated with it.

The decision to burn the rhino horns, worth crores in the international smuggling market for wildlife parts, was taken by the state cabinet earlier this month. The Assam government had decided to burn the horns, along with other wildlife parts, according to the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, in order to bust various myths associated with them. By this step, the govt wants to convey the message that the horns do not have any medicinal or miracle properties associated with them in various countries, especially in China and Vietnam.

The 2479 horns which were burnt were part of the total 2623 horns stocked at the treasuries in the state. The balance 144 horns are being preserved for various purposes. 50 of them are associated with ongoing court cases, and therefore are being preserved as evidence for those cases. Among the rest 94, some will be preserved for academic and research purposes, while some will be kept for public display at a museum that is coming up at Kaziranga National Park.

All the horns went through an extensive verification process, including preservation of DNA samples, before the decision to destroy them was taken. The verification process was conducted at various treasuries according to the decision taken by a Verification Committee constituted by the state government in 2016 to study the horns stored in the state. During this process, the horns were cleaned, examined by forensic experts, and were assigned Unique Identification Numbers with barcodes, before packing, labelling and keeping them in sealed boxes.

The verification process also included drilling out DNA samples for preservation and future study. Horns to be preserved were also selected during the examination process. It is expected that bigger and heavier horns, and horns with unique characteristics will be preserved. During the verification of the horns, it was found that the longest horn stored in Assam measured 51.5 cm in height, with a weight of 2.5 kg. Kept in Guwahati treasury, it was Found in Laokhowa sanctuary in Nagaon district. The heaviest horn weighed 3.05 kg with the height of 36 cm, which was kept in Bokakhat, found in the Bagori range of Kaziranga in 1982. It is believed to be the world’s heaviest rhino horn.

Fake horns

There are also allegations that some fake rhino horns were kept in the treasuries, and some fake horns were indeed found. However, the verification committee has not released any number. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that all the horns burnt today are real horns. Several of the horns kept in Barpeta treasury were badly damaged by water, as the roof there had leakage. People said those horns are fake because they had become soft, but the verification confirmed they are real and had become soft due to water damage.

Along with real horns, fake horns are traded in the market, which is made from various things like wood and bamboo. There is a joke among forest officials that after a rhino is poached in Assam, four fake horns surface in the market.

As the exchange of banned items like rhino horns are done in the dark of the night, people get cheated by such fake horns, and after finding out the same, the victims cheat others to recover the money, and thus, even the fake horns keep changing hands in exchange for large amounts of money.

Taliban writes to UN demanding to be invited to address the UNGA meet, nominates Doha spokesperson as UN ambassador

0

The radical Islamist group Taliban which seized control of Afghanistan last month, have written to the UN Secretary-General Guterres asking permission to speak to international leaders at the United Nations this week in New York. The group’s foreign minister made the request in a letter on Monday.

The UN Secretary received the communication with the letterhead “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” signed by “Ameer Khan Muttaqi” as “Minister of Foreign Affairs.”

Guterres’ spokesperson, Farhan Haq, confirmed Muttaqi’s letter.

Muttaqi’s letter was received by the UN five days after Secretary-General Antonio Guterres received communication on September 15 from the currently accredited Afghan Ambassador, Ghulam Isaczai. In the letter, Isaczai provided the list of Afghanistan’s delegation for the assembly’s 76th annual session, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric confirmed.

Taliban nominates Doha-based spokesperson as UN ambassador

The successive letter by the Islamist group, instead, nominated their Doha-based spokesperson, Suhail Shaheen, as Afghanistan’s UN ambassador. The Taliban said that the envoy for the ousted government no longer represented the country.

According to a UN spokesperson, the request to participate in the high-level debate is being evaluated by a credentials committee, which includes the US, China, and Russia among its nine members.

The credentials committee are, however, unlikely to meet before the end of the General Assembly session next Monday. Until then, Ghulam Isaczai will continue to serve as Afghanistan’s ambassador to the United Nations under UN procedures.

Ghulam Isaczai is expected to make a speech on the final day of the meeting on 27 September. The Taliban, on the other hand, claims that Isaczai’s mission “no longer represents Afghanistan.”

The Islamic group has claimed that Afghanistan’s ousted President Ashraf Ghani is no longer recognised as the country’s leader by a number of countries.

It may be noted that Ghani had abruptly left Afghanistan as the Taliban advanced on the capital, Kabul, on August 15. He has since taken refuge in the United Arab Emirates.

SAARC meet cancelled after Pakistan wanted Taliban to participate

Meanwhile, the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) meeting of foreign ministers scheduled to be held on 25th September, on the sidelines of the 76th session of UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York now stands cancelled over lack of consent of members who did not agree with Pakistan’s demand of including the Taliban.

This comes after the Imran Khan-led Pakistan government insisted and demanded that the Taliban be allowed to participate and send a representative for the SAARC summit.

Reports citing sources said that Pakistan’s demand was unilaterally opposed by all member countries.

Taliban regime has not been recognised by most governments across the world. Also, the Taliban has not yet approached the UN for credentials.

Centre allows bureaucrats to retain gifts valued up to Rs 5,000 received from foreign dignitaries

The central government has issued an official order, allowing bureaucrats of All India Services like the IAS, IPS and IFoS officers to retain gifts received from foreign dignitaries while being members of Indian delegation.

A five-decade-old law governing rules over foreign contribution to bureaucrats has been amended by the Centre, bringing it in line with the Foreign Contribution (Acceptance or Retention of Gifts or Presentations) Rules, 2012, that regulate acceptance of gifts by VIPs on foreign visits.

As per the rules, the recipients of the gifts are required to submit them in the ‘toshakhana’, a repository of such articles in the Ministry of External Affairs, for assessment by customs appraiser to evaluate their market value. The recipient is then informed about the value of the gift by the ‘toshakhana’.

Bureaucrats can retain gifts with value less than Rs 5,000. However, if the value surpasses the threshold of Rs 5,000, the recipient is offered the option of buying the gift by paying the difference of amount between the market value and Rs 5,000.

It is worth noting that existing rules lacked any provision in the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968, with respect to receipt or retention of gifts received from foreign dignitaries by Civil Services Officers as a part of the Indian delegation or otherwise. The rules had allowed officers to receive gifts from only near relatives or from personal friends having no official dealings with them, on occasions like wedding or religious functions, etc., when bestowing gifts is in accordance with prevailing customs and traditions. Besides, they are also required to report it to the government if the value of such gifts exceeded Rs 25,000, the rules say.

So in order to address the lacuna in the rules governing retention of gifts from foreign dignitaries, the government inserted a new sub-rule under Section 11 of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968. The new sub-section allows officers to receive and retain gifts as per the same set of rules that govern acceptance of gifts by VIPs from foreign dignitaries.

The Centre had in March 2020 circulated a draft proposal for amendment to AIS(Conduct) Rules and sought responses from states and UTs, positively failing which would be “presumed that the state government has no objection to the proposed amendments”.

Spinning fiction? Siddharth Varadarajan’s ‘Paris cafe’ claims on vaccine certificate don’t quite add up, what the authorities say

Founding editor of the leftist propaganda website The Wire, Siddharth Varadarajan on Tuesday tweeted that he was asked for proof of vaccination or a vaccination certificate in a Paris restaurant. In the tweet, Varadarajan also attempted to make fun of Prime Minister Modi.

Varadarajan claimed that while at a cafe in Paris, a waiter asked him for his vaccination certificate. According to Varadarajan, the waiter ‘disapprovingly’ compared picture on the vaccination certificate with Varadarajan and exclaimed how it was Varadarajan himself. Varadarajan then said how it was ‘Dear Leader’ (PM Modi) on the certificate and the waiter then wondered why it did not have Varadarajan’s picture instead.

Essentially, Varadarajan, who is an American citizen, was asked to provide for his vaccine certificate in a cafe in Paris and he was able to show how he was fully (or partially) vaccinated in India. But of course, we are to believe the waiter discussed ‘Modi pic’ on the certificate with him instead.

Twitter users were left intrigued by the tweet but soon spotted that something might be wrong and they started suspecting that Varadarajan might be conjuring up fiction.

One user named Sandeep Bangia commented that he believed the story is concocted and questioned Varadarajan why he could not show his fully vaccinated certificate in a digital format. Another one called Rishap Vats mentioned that France issued Covid pass/certificate for everyone above 18 for accessing public places which is the main health proof for vaccinations.

Whether Varadarajan was just spinning stories or indeed telling the truth is a not something we could fact-check till someone puts us in touch with that particular waiter from that cafe, here is what the French authorities say about vaccination certificates.

According to the French government website, in France, a COVID certificate is issued for non-European nationals entering France and non-European students. The certificate is issued to people who have tested negative or who have been fully vaccinated with one of the vaccines recognized by the European Medicines Agency or one of the equivalents to these vaccines. The COVID certificate is generated in digital DCC format which is recognized throughout the EU and in countries with agreements on mutual recognition with the EU. Apparently, no one in France asks for vaccination proof from non-European nationals. They only ask for the COVID certificate.

French Diplomacy on certificates

Apparently, either one has to show valid COVID vaccine certificate or they have to show their negative RT-PCR or antigen test taken – which also comes with a QR code, which one can access from their phones. That, plus for those who have been vaccinated with recognised vaccines, will get a ‘COVID certificate’ for their stay in French territory. France has recognised India-made Covishield for the vaccine pass.

It is very likely that the American citizen that Vardarajan is, who has Indian vaccines administered to him, would have either got himself the French equivalent of COVID certificate as per procudeure or he would have to show his negative RT-PCR or antigen test at the restaurant/cafe he visited.

In either of these cases, it is highly unlikely the waiter at the cafe would get to see PM Modi’s picture on the certificate.

Adani Group releases statement after Congress spreads lies over Mundra Port drug bust, calls out malicious propaganda against company

The Adani Group has been forced to issue a media statement after the Congress party and its supporters indulged in spreading blatant lies over the seizure of almost 3,000 kg of heroin at Mundra port in Gujarat’s Kutch district by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs officials.

This comes after the Congress party launched a vicious attack on the Adani Group that manages the port and accused the chairman of the group, Gautam Adani, of using the port to smuggle the contraband.

Detailing the role of Adani Group, the media statement read, “The law empowers the Government of India’s component authorities such as the Customs and the DRI to open, examine and seize any unlawful cargo. No port operator across the country can examine a container. Their role is limited to running the port.”

“APSEZ is a port operator providing services to shipping lines. We have no policing authority over the containers or the millions of tonnes of cargos that pass through the terminals in Mudra or any of our ports,” it read further.

The conglomerate also applauded the Customs and DRI for seizing the drugs. “We sincerely hope that this statement will put to rest the motivated, malicious and false propaganda being run on social media against the Adani group,” the business Group urged concluding their statement.

Congress spreads blatant lies, uses drug bust to target Adani and Gujarat state

The Congress party and its leaders have been using the major drug bust to target the Adani Group, which operates the Mundra port. While the initial tweets by Congress supporters looked idiotic, it has now evolved into full-fledged, intentional misinformation spreading campaign by the Congress party. The Congress party has been maliciously targeting the Gujarat government, Adani Group and the Central government over the drug bust.

Congress has now held a press conference addressed by Pawan Khera, alleging conspiracy behind the drug bust. It is notable here how maliciously Congress is spinning the issue. DRI works under the Indian government. It was a combined effort by DRI and other authorities that the major drug consignment was busted. The authorities have made arrests and raids at various locations during the investigation. If the authorities were inefficient, the drug would have reached India to be sold or smuggled elsewhere and nobody would have known about it.

But just because the bust happened in Gujarat and it was a port that is managed by Adani, Congress is now spinning the issue to target the Modi government, Gujarat state and Adani Group.

Not the first time

Well, this is not the first time that the warriors of the “Gandhi” party have fired a misguided missile against Gujarat.

In the latest, the ‘rent-a-cause-andolanjeevis’ had flooded the social media with anti-Adani/Ambani narrative after Gautam Adani- Chairman of the Adani Group announced taking over the management control of Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) from the GVK Group.

In fact, the Congress’ new friends Shiv Shivsainiks had barged into the landscaped garden at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), uprooted the Adani signboard and planted saffron flags.

Shiv Sena goons vandalize the Adani sign at the landscape of Mumbai’s International Airport

In 2020, social media platforms were awash with posts that alleged that the central government had sold the ownership of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport in Ahmedabad to Adani Airports.

Former Congress supporter and present TMC loyalist Saket Gokhale had Tweeted that PM Modi is giving out ‘airports for free’ to Adani.

Congress is playing a malicious political game

It is not that Congress does not know that allowing a private company to operate and manage a port or an airport is not the same as selling, and private enterprises managing commercial ports and airports is a common practice all over the world. They are just playing a dirty political game by deliberately spreading lies.

It is also notable here that the recent drug bust is important because the heroin consignment was sent from Afghanistan’s Kandahar through a port in Iran. It was busted by Indian authorities and the consignment was seized before the massive cargo made its way further. Afghanistan is the world’s largest heroin producer and with the Taliban takeover, global experts are worried that the Taliban will use drug money to fund terrorism.

The seize at Mundra is seen as a major success, because it stopped a large quantity of heroin from being sent and sold, possibly stopping a chain of narco-terrorism and terror funding. However, Congress, visibly rattled for some unfathomable reason, is using the drug bust to launch an attack on the very authorities that successfully busted the major smuggling operation.
