Who was Stan Swamy? Man on a mission to endanger India

Stan Swamy. Real name Stanislaus Lourduswamy. Many say real surname was Samy but strategically written as Swamy to show more closeness to Hindu in a Hindu majority country and a long term goal to convert Hindus.

He believed and followed the ideology/principle of the ‘Liberation theology’ which talks about marxism and historical materialism in theology. Liberation theology believes in the involvement of the revolutionary political process and says ‘only eliminating private property of the wealth created by human work will we be able to lay down the bases for a more just society.’  Which, all in all means that the wealth created by hard working people should be taken over even if it means using revolutionary process and tactics.

Stan Swamy worked in Philippines, Brazil, ISI-Bangalore before moving to the tribal belt of Jharkhand. His activities varied from conducting protests, demonstrations, liberation theology to Maoism!

Human rights activist Xavier Dias said that when Swamy studied in the Philippines, there he was acquainted with a series of protests and demonstrations against the administration in the 1970s. He said Swamy, during further studies in Brussels made friends with Brazilian Catholic Archbishop Helder Camara a militant pro Nazi right. Stan Swamy befriended him and got his preaching and induction from Helder Camara –***

Helder Camara

In 1965, Swamy joined the St Xavier’s High School Lupungutu, Chaibasa, West Singhbhum in present-day Jharkhand for his regency. Regency is the stage at which trainee Jesuits (Society of Jesus) order undergo in the 3rd-4th year. Jesuit formation, or the training of Jesuits, is slightly different from catholic study. Swamy spent two years taking up one or two works of the order. In the 1970s, he went to Philippines to study theology and Masters in Sociology.

On his return to Jesuit Jamshedpur Province in 1971, Swamy became director of the Catholic Relief Services charity for the area. He was also the Director of the Jesuit-run Indian Social Institute (ISI), Bangalore from 1975 to 1986. Several publications and books written during his tenure as Director ISI reflect unjustified biased projection of the country and were directed against India. Also a banned outfit like PFI, termed an extremist Islamic organisation, is allowed to hold events and conferences in ISI campus.

In Jan 2011, Kerala Police filed a charge sheet against alleged PFI activists in conjunction with an incident in which they severed the hand of a Kerala professor, T. J. Joseph on mere religious differences. It was reported that the attack resulted from the ruling from one of the “Taliban-model” courts (Darul Khada) operating in Kerala.

In July 2010, the Kerala Police seized country-made bombs, weapons, CDs and several documents containing Taliban and Al-Qaeda propaganda, from PFI activists.

In 2012, the Kerala government informed the Kerala High Court, in an affidavit, that Popular Front of India had active involvement in 27 murder cases and that the activities of the Popular Front are inimical to the safety of the country and that it is “nothing but a resurrection of the banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in another form”. The High Court upheld the ban imposed by the State Government

And yet in 2019, Indian Social Institute allowed PFI to operate events from its space.

On 12th October 2019, PFI was allowed to host the “Dalit-Muslim Dialogue” at Indian Social Institute, Bangalore. The programme was attended by the leaders of Popular Front Mohammed Ali Jinnah general secretary, Popular Front, Anis Ahmed, Secretary Popular Front and many more. PFI was allowed to moderate the discussion.

140 emails were found from Stan Swamy’s id that brought forth his links with urban naxals. Swamy proposed recruiting people and giving them armed training.

As per NIA chargesheet, one of the letters written by Stan Swamy himself said, “An all-India front will not be effective. It shouldn’t just be used for propaganda against fascist forces on the ground level as it unleashed a major blitzkrieg of offensive campaigns against fascist forces. The front has to come up at village level, small town and cities, neighbourhood level in urban areas with militant sections of people being organised.”

“From the very beginning we should bring together most dalit and muslim forces that are already taking shape in some parts of country. For example, such dalit forces are taking shapre in south – Tamil Nadu and Gujrat and muslim minority forces in Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra are giving militant and armed attacks on Dalit and religious minority people by the organised Hindutva. They want to take training by going into revolutionary.”

The court rejected his bail plea after studying all documents and said – The court discarded the plea of his old age observing, “The collective interest of the community would outweigh the right of personal liberty of the applicant and as such the old age and/or alleged sickness of the applicant would not go in his favour, so that the discretion to release the applicant can be exercised in his favour.”

Special judge DE Kothalikar said while rejecting the bail -“The material placed on record thus prima facie denotes that the applicant was not only the member of banned organisation Communist Party of India (Maoist) but he was carrying out activities further in the objective of the organisation which is nothing but to overthrow the democracy of the nation.”

The evidences gathered against him point out that Stan Swamy was on a mission not only to convert indigenous Hindu tribals of India to Christianity but in a more dangerous conversion, that off converting this blessed Hindu land into a militant land. Helping and fighting for the tribal was just an overt show, a show set to conduct dangerous operations covertly, behind the visibility of normal common citizen.

Agenda 1 –Overt Agenda– Convert tribals to Christianity during his stay in Jharkhand. Set up Churches in tribal areas.

Agenda 2- Covert Agenda – To recruit tribals for maoist terrorism and to keep the land of Hindus always in turmoil, in war state.

Agenda 3 – To dethrone any govt of India that does not tow the line of the Church, Christian, and Communist thinking.

As per NIA report Stan Swamy was a member of banned organisation Communist Party of India (Maoist) and he was carrying out activities further in the objective of the organisation which has been trying and carrying out activities to overthrow the democracy of the nation. His organisation “hatched a serious conspiracy to create unrest in the entire country and to overpower the government.”

NIA Chargesheet of 10000 pages also says,

  1. The NIA charge-sheet named Stan Swamy as a member of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and was involved in a conspiracy to instigate caste violence in the Bhima Koregaon incident on January 1, 2018.

Koregaon Bhima case: Violence a deep-rooted conspiracy, says Bombay HC

In 2018, the Bombay High Court has said that the Elgar Parishad-Koregaon Bhima violence was a “deep-rooted” conspiracy which had “extremely serious repercussions”. The observation was made by a division bench of Justices B P Dharmadhikari and S V Kotwal. These were based on the sufficient material evidences found against the accused.

  • Stan Swamy was in communication with CPI-Maoist cadre Comrade Arun. He communicated that after the arrest of urban CPI-Maoist cadres from different parts of the country, particularly Maharashtra, a huge irrevocable damage has been caused to the party.
  • Stan Swamy received Rs 8 lakh through one Comrade Mohan for furtherance of the CPI-Maoist activities. He is the convener of Persecuted Prisoners Solidarity Committee (PPSC) frontal organisation of the CPI-Maoists.
  • Stan Swamy planned to prepare a front to take on the Modi government through the means of armed militia.
  • The documents recovered from Stan Swamy are related to the literature of 50 years of Naxalbari, CPI-Maoist press releases, circular issued by the central committee (CC), literature on how to smuggle things (sneak it through smuggling made easier), letter to Stan Swamy from one Prashant, letter to Vijayan Dada from Stan Swamy regarding mobilising of Adivasi and regarding concerns raised by CC, guide of encrypted data communication on GSM network, message on the celebration of the 13th anniversary of CPI-Maoist, an essential underground handbook, letter between comrades for using encryption, mini-manual of urban guerilla, the Constitution of CPI-Maoist, documents related to the status of PLGA in excel sheet, document on strategy and tactics of Indian revolution.
  • The letter instructed that all SC leaders to work with “the principle of no rest, no negligence and no mercy” and to do everything possible to “disrupt the fake development propaganda disseminated by star campaigners of BJP-RSS corporate friendly family”. “Our aim should be to stop them from making inroads into tribal masses and lower middle-class population.”
  • On international front in the absence of Rona Wilson and Sai Baba, there has been major disruption in communicating with international Maoist parties. It said Sri Lanka and Nepal operations are also impacted. “Keeping all these necessities in view the Central committee has directed one comrade to assume the responsibility of international coordination of solidarity programmes and making arrangements for bilateral delegations. But please ensure both are sufficiently trained in order to understand sensitive aspects of technical security.”
  • There is also discussion about avoiding the name of the “anti-fascist” front as it would turn negative appeal to public. The NIA says there is a clear mention about giving such responsibility to accused Sudhir Dhawale along with monetary support is found mentioned in a letter from Com M (wanted accused Milind Teltumbde) to accused Ron Wilson.

Know the mentor of Stan Swamy: Helder Camara

Mentor Helder Camara- In one his document its clearly written –  If by chance it were not possible to accomplish this subversive plan through normal means, the professor from the Seminary in Recife considered the recourse to arms  legitimate, in order to establish manu military, the regime he had theorised.

In the Corrispondenza Romana it is written such – there are few who know this, but Helder Camara began his public life as a militant in the pro-Nazi right. He was in fact, a party official of the Acao Integralista Brasileira (AIB), the pro-Nazi movement founded by Plinio Salgado. In 1934, the then Father Camara became part of the Supreme Council of the AIB. Two years later he was Salgado’s personal secretary, and thus the national Secretary of the AIB, a leading figure who took part in meetings and paramilitary  marches that aped the Nazis in Germany. His pro-Nazi convictions were so deep that he was ordained a priest wearing the integralist militia’s uniform under his cassock – the ill-famed “green shirt”.

In 1968 when the Brazilian writer Otto Engel wrote a biography about Helder Camara, he received “summary orders” from the Olinda-Recife Curia which warned him not to publish it. The Archbishop didn’t want his pro-Nazi past being made known.

Helder Camara moved onto hailing Mao Tse-Tung’s China, at that time in full “cultural revolution”, causing the death of millions. The Red Archbishop formally requested the admission of Communist China to the United Nations with the consequent expulsion of Taiwan. He finished his intervention with an appeal in favour of the Cuban Dictator, Fidel Castro, at that time busy sustaining bloody guerrilla warfare in Latin America. He also asked for Cuba to be re-admitted to the OEA (the Organization of the American States) from which it had been expelled in 1962.

However, perhaps the episode that aroused the most astonishment was the so-called “Comblin affair”.

In June 1968 a bomb of a document was leaked out to the Brazilian newspapers, prepared under the auspices of Archbishop Helder Camara, by the Belgian priest Joseph Comblin, professor at the Theological Institute (Seminary) of Recife. The document proposed, without veils, a subversive plan to dismantle the State and establish a “dictatorship of the people” of a Communist matrix.

He sang praises of some of the bloodiest dictatorships that constellated  the 20th century; first Nazism, and then Communism in all of its variants: Soviet, Cuban, Chinese.

In his famous interview with Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci, he also stated that, despite his support for non-violence, he didn’t oppose violent tactics: “And I respect a lot of priests with rifles on their shoulders; I never said that to use weapons against an oppressor is immoral or anti-Christian. But that’s not my choice, not my road, not my way to apply the Gospels”.

Karnataka: Madarsa teacher sent to 11 years of rigorous imprisonment for sodomising a minor boy in 2015

A special court in Tumakuru district in Karnataka has handed out an 11-years of rigorous imprisonment verdict and a fine of Rs 30,000 on a Madarsa teacher in a 2015 case, in which the court held the Maulana guilty of sodomising and threatening a 13-year-old minor boy.

The special court judge N Krishnaiah ordered the district legal services authority to pay Rs 5 lakh to the boy as compensation.

The Madarsa teacher, identified as Mufti Musharaf, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was teaching at a madrassa near Amalapur in Karnataka’s Tumakuru in 2015 when the incident transpired. The victim, who was 13-years-old then, was a student in the same Madarsa where Mufti Musharaf taught. The teacher perpetrated the heinous crime on April 17, 2015, however, the incident came to the fore only two days later when the victim’s mother went to see him at the Madarsa.

Horrified by what had transpired with him, the boy broke down seeing his mother. On being coerced the son narrated his harrowing ordeal to his mother, following which the latter lodged a complaint against Mufti Musharaf with Karnataka police.

Subsequently, the police registered a case against the Maulana under sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him.

Eleven eyewitnesses testified against the Madarsa teacher during his trial in the Karnataka court. Moreover, the statements of the minor boy and his mother proved extremely crucial in proving the Madarsa teacher guilty, said special public prosecutor GV Gayathri.

Revealing what transpired on April 17, 2015, GV Gayathri said that Mufti Musharaf asked the minor boy to help him book a train ticket to his native place in Uttar Pradesh. He urged the victim to accompany him to the railway station as he was not conversant with the local language- Kannada. He told the boy that he would need his help in language translation. The boy agreed to go along with the teacher.

Upon arriving at the railway station, Musharaf cooked up a story to trap the victim. He told the boy that his motorbike had run out of petrol so they would have to spend the night in some nearby hotel. The boy, who was oblivious to the Maulana’s maleficent plans, did what he was asked to.

The special prosecutor was quoted by TOI as saying: “In the hotel’s register, he [Musharaf] had mentioned his name as well as that of the boy. After committing the crime, Musharaf took the boy on his bike the next morning and dropped him back at the madrassa. He returned to the lodge and vacated the room. The hotel ledger mentioned there were two persons; a man and a boy while entering the room, and only the man was present while vacating it.”

Gayathri further confirmed that after the incident came to the fore and a police complaint was filed, both the perpetrator and the victim were taken for medical tests. The medical reports confirmed that the child was sodomised.

Kerala: 17 people end their lives due to financial crisis caused by Covid-19 lockdown in the last six weeks

On July 31, it was reported that as many as 17 people have committed suicide in the state of Kerala due to financial crisis caused by the Covid-19 lockdown in the last six weeks. A total of 50 suicides were reported from June 20 to July 31, out of which 17 were due to financial troubles. In two of these 17 cases, more than one person has died.

The first case reported in this period was of a 45-years-old goldsmith identified as Manoj Kumar, his wife Ranju and their 16-year-old daughter from Nanthancode. They died after consuming poison on June 20. Reportedly, Kumar had no work for several weeks and could not pay back his loans.

In another case, 36-years-old Sreekanth from Vilappilsala hanged himself in his under-construction house. He owned a small-time dairy farm. Due to lockdown, his earnings hit hard. He used to milk cows of the neighbours too, but during the lockdown, many of his neighbours sold their cows that further reduced his income. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

The third case reported was on PC Rajamani from Rahul Gandhi’s Wayanad. He owned a bus that was standing still since lockdown was imposed. Another case from the transport industry was of Mohanan Pillai from Kollam, who owned Seena Travels. His company was hit hard due to lockdown.

The third case from the same industry was of V Mohanan from Kottayam, who owned a tourist van. He used to rent it out to tourists. Another case of suicide from the tourism industry was of bus driver Abhjith from Kozhikode. He killed himself in the bus that got stranded in Assam for over two months due to lockdown.

53-years-old Nirmal Chandran from Thiruvananthapuram and Ponnu Mani from Palakkad had a light-and-sound business. During a pandemic, their businesses were no longer in demand resulting in a financial crunch. Chandran committed suicide on July 2, and Mani killed himself on July 17, according to TwentyFour News.

55-years-old Vinod owned a bakery in Idukki. He killed himself on July 19. 56-years-old Vijayakumar also owned a bakery in Malayankeel, Thiruvananthapuram. He died of suicide on July 22.

56-years-old Kannan Kutty, a tractor driver, committed suicide due to a financial crisis as there was no work.

35-years-old Vishnu Prasad had a computer training centre at Mannar, Alappuzha. He committed suicide on July 7. In another case, 53-years-old Damodaran and his 27-years-old Sarath from Thrissur committed suicide on July 20.

Dijo Kappen, a Consumer activist and a social observer based in central Kerala, said, “They are all people with self-respect. This is a particular situation created by the system in an unprecedented condition. They have everything, including willingness to work. However, the system denies them the opportunity, and they are in no mood to approach anyone for financial support. Instead, they end the life either alone or with family, alleged in some cases.”

The government announced to wave off rent and dropped fixed power charges

On July 30, the government of Kerala announced measures to deal with the lockdown imposed financial situation that led to a ray of hope for traders and small-scale business owners. Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi general secretary S S Manoj welcomed the government’s decision to waive off the power bill. However, he was concerned over interest waivers only for new loans. He said, “I don’t know how many of us are in a position to take the risk of borrowing afresh.”

Economist and former state finance commission chairman B A Prakash criticized the government for not taking steps for the labourers and entrepreneurs in distress. He said, “Unlike previous economic crises, this is a prolonged one. There is no scope for immediate revival for certain sectors. School bus drivers and cinema theatre employees have no clue when they can resume work.” He further added, “The government should have addressed the woes of labourers and entrepreneurs in distress and given them relief like direct cash transfer. Instead, they hiked the salary of government employees. Maybe, they are the only section of workers which received a raise during the pandemic.”

The Planning board has estimated that to provide financial assistance to those who have lost their jobs during Covid, the government would need Rs.7,300 crores. It would allow the government to provide cash transfers of Rs.10,000 to 73 lakh out of the 1.27 crore workforce of the state.

US: Migrant shelter in Texas turns into haven for sexual predators, reveals leaked audio

A leaked audio tape from inside a migrant shelter facility in Texas, United States of America reveals shocking details of sexual exploitation of minors by the staff members.

As per reports, the migrant shelter home in Fort Bliss in Texas used to house 5000 children at the peak of the border crisis. Due to overcrowding at the border patrol stations, the minor children were shifted to the facility by the Department of Health and Health Services. By May this year, the shelter home had 3000 minor children. During a training session with staff members inside the shelter home in Fort Bliss in Texas, a federal contractor was heard as saying, “We have already caught staff with minors inappropriately. Is that OK with you guys?”

The staff members then responded with a resounding ‘No.’ The contractor added, “If you catch them, especially if it’s a staff member, you separate that minor from that person immediately.” However, the contractor did not ask the staff to report such incidents to the supervisors. She conceded that minor children had complained about staff members bouncing on their beds to wake them up in the morning. This was also revealed in the leaked audio tapes from May. The contractor added, “I know there have been a lot of complaints from minors about staff members waking them up in the morning.”

“We’ve got some staff members that are picking up and shaking the bed to wake up the minor. Or they’re bouncing them on the bed. They think they’re being playful, but that constitutes child abuse. I want you guys to know that,” the contractor acknowedged. During another such staff interaction, a doctor for the U.S. Public Health Service acknowledged the allegations of sexual misconduct at the facility although he did not specifically talk about the involvement of the employees. A staff member conceded that the minor children were having sex between them and cases of possible sexual assault.

“There is a concern about the kids having sex with each other and possible sexual assault. Thoughts on that? That’s been on our radar since day one. That will always be a situation that you’re always dealing with. There are processes for reporting, for intervening, for doing interviews on allegations. Having gender separation has been fantastic, right? OK, it’s better than where it was in the first week, when we had boys and girls in the first week and there’s no barrier. Imagine that,” the employee added.

Following the revelations, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra assured to take cognisance of the wrongdoings. “Every emergency intake site we have launched, we started from scratch. We constantly work to improve the conditions and services required to care for children in these challenging shelter settings,” Becerra added. The revelations confirm the allegations made by whistleblowers about the lack of transparency in the government-held facility. Over growing concerns about children’s safety, the number of minor migrants at the facility has been limited.

#LoveIsNotTourism: Lovers, families separated by Covid-19 request Govts to expedite Visa process, end their ‘lambi judaai’

Couples in the United States of America and United Kingdom are pleading with their governments to end the Covid-19 travel restrictions to enable them to reunite with their loved ones. The couples have been separated for over a year due to travel restrictions and want their governments to expedite the Visa approval process. Now, a group called Love Is Not Tourism seeks to change that.

The couples moan the lack of physical intimacy and say that the pain of separation is hard to bear. They say that they don’t know when they will be able to meet each other next.

They have also taken to social media to voice their angst towards the government using the hashtag #LoveIsNotTourism. Some complain that while pubs and restaurants are open, they are being forced to stay away from family.

Joe Biden is also being blamed for the travel restrictions after his administration announced that they will not be lifting them.

The Joe Biden administration is receiving the stick for what people call a policy of ‘family separation’.

The group also has a website which states, “Love Is Not Tourism is a global grassroots movement dedicated to reuniting binational couples and families who have been forcibly separated by travel bans and border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Petitions have also been launched on platforms such as change.org to draw the attention of governments to the matter.

The Covid-19 pandemic has been hard for families worldwide with members forced to stay away from each other due to restrictions on travel and movement. Despite vaccines becoming available and high rates of vaccination in certain countries, it has not given way to their reunion with their families.

Concerns regarding human rights violations have also been rife, especially with instances such as Australia deploying its military to help enforce the Sydney lockdown.

Fact Check: Where is this Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce & Arts?

Several social media users, including prominent personalities such as Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, posted an image of an education institute on Twitter to claim that the institute was “Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce & Arts”.

The image generated a lot of heat on the social media platforms after several netizens wondered how can one run a college that offered such a peculiar course.

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw owns multi-million bio-pharma company, too shared this particular image to wonder how one institute named after Tamil megastar Rajnikanth offered to teach such diverse courses. The industrialist shared a tweet that read, “Can anybody explain what exactly is taught in this college?”

Another user also tweeted the same image, in which several students were seen entering the “Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce & Arts”. A user commented that it is the world’s best college.

Similarly, several netizens enthusiastically shared the above image believing that such a college offering diverse courses under one roof existed.

Considering the times we live in are so strange, it was hard to figure out whether these Twitter users were being sarcastic or they truly believed the college existed.

However, not everything we see or perceive is real.

Does Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce & Arts exist for real?

The images shared by several people on the internet suggesting the existence of “Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce & Arts” is not a real one. The image is a morphed one, and it has been doing rounds on the internet for a very long time now.

The image, perhaps, created as a meme, has now trapped several people on the internet, including the likes of Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw.

In reality, there is no “Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce & Arts”. The image is taken outside the campus of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB).

Here is the same image of XIMB that has been morphed into look like “Rajnikant Medical College of Engineering for Commerce & Arts”.

Sadly, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and other netizens fell for a meme and ended up tweeting misinformation.

Kerala Model: How the communist govt failed its people amid oxygen crisis during second wave

Kerala in the recent few days has been topping in number of new Chinese coronavirus cases. Their callousness towards the crisis is only matched by their propaganda that they’re the best in combating the virus, despite, for instance, easing lockdown restrictions to appease the Muslim community during Bakrid even as cases were climbing.

The latest spin they have added to their disinformation campaign is a statement by their health minister Veena George that there has never been a shortage of oxygen for patients which has resulted in loss of lives, no rush on hospitals, and no medical emergencies. Even a casual look at local media reports from the peak of oxygen crisis days shows how this as poorly drafted propaganda.

Contrary to what Veena George has claimed, several instances of patients losing lives due to lack of oxygen has been reported in Kerala. The horrors the relatives had to go through seeing their loved die helplessly is something that is sticking out even with the insensitive health minister trying to cover up the tragedies. The reports also include cases where ICU beds being not available in time and the unfortunate loss of life.

In May 2021, 38 year old Dhanish Kumar from Pathanamthitta district died due to delay in treatment and lack of ICU bed. Dhanish was rushed to the nearby Government hospital after it was found his oxygen levels were low, but it was informed to his relatives that there was no bed available in ICU. They were advised to move him to any nearby private hospital, but they too were not promising. Finally as they were trying to get him to General Hospital Pathanamthitta as they had offered to provide assistance with medical oxygen, he died on the way.

A 78 year old lady, Fathima from Thrissur district, died after she was made to wait in the ambulance for 4 hours for an ICU bed. In April 2021, she was brought to General Hospital after not being able to get an ICU bed in a private medical college she was first referred to. She had to face few formalities for her admission citing that covid patients were to be brought only through a specific management channel. Her relatives accused that her life could have been saved had there been no unnecessary delay. Another Fathima from Malappuram lost her life after her family could not arrange a ventilator despite three days of toiling.

In May 2021, Sali (65) from Alappuzha died due to shortage of oxygen and lack of timely treatment at Mavelikkara Taluk hospital. His relatives alleged that he was not attended for 2 hours and unfortunately he breathed his last at 5:30 AM the next day. A similar incident happened in Thrissur medical college when Nakulan, who was suffering from chronic kidney disease, was tested positive for Covid, but was made to lie on the verandah without getting proper care and treatment, and eventually died. Nakulan had himself shared his helpless state through a video.

Again in May 2021, a vlogger named Haris Ameerali shared the difficulties he had to face to obtain an ICU bed after he had tested positive for Covid and was pneumonic. He said that he had to wait for more than four hours in an ambulance and that the situation had(at that time) worsened over the days.

A very unfortunate event happened in Pathanamthitta after two persons, aged 52 and 60, had to isolate themselves in a poultry shed for two days. The health authorities responded only after the issue was reported widely in media and isolation was arranged for them in quarantine facilities.

Bhanusuthan Pillai (60), Chengannur, lost his life due to negligence from the state health department. After experiencing breathing difficulties and tested positive, his relatives chose to resort to government facilities foreseeing the huge amount they may have to pay in private hospitals. They first registered on Covid jagrata portal, and after not getting a response for hours they contacted health department officials, and they were advised to get him to the nearby first line treatment centre. Following the controversy, the Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB) accused the Indian cricketing Board of bringing disrepute to the ‘gentleman’s game.’ While threatening to take the matter up with the International Cricket Council (ICC), it said, “The PCB considers that the BCCI has brought the game into disrepute by issuing warnings to multiple ICC Members to stop their retired cricketers from featuring in the Kashmir Premier League, further threatening they will not be allowed entry into India for cricket-related work.”

A BCCI official had told Indian Express, “While asking the boards not to allow their players to take part in the Kashmir league, we have informed them that in case they do, they can’t be part of any cricketing activity in India. We have done this keeping national interest in mind…We have no problems with those playing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) but this is a league in PoK. We are toeing our government’s line.”
