Supreme Court dismisses plea seeking protection of Hindus from the Muslim community in Mewat

On Monday (June 28), the Supreme Court of India dismissed a petition seeking protection of Hindus from the dominant Muslim community in the Nuh district (Mewat) of Haryana.

As per reports, the petition was filed by a group of lawyers and activists through advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain. It read, “A number of Hindus have been forcibly converted to Islam and a number of Hindu women and minor girls have been abducted and raped. The Hindu women are not safe at all. The Muslims at a large number have committed atrocities on members of Schedule caste.”

The petitioners highlighted that the local police, the district administration, and the State government have failed to exercise their power in upholding the life and liberty of the Hindu community. The petition stated that the Hindu population in Nuh had declined from 20% (in 2011) to 10-11% now while the Muslim population has increased under the patronage of Tablighi Jammat.

The petitioners relied on a report, dated May 31, 2020, by a four-member committee wherein it visited the affected area and submitted a copy of it to Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar. The petition stated, “(The State of Haryana has failed to) disclose the facts of various FIRs and complaints of various heinous crimes, lodged by Hindus against Muslims for their tortures and atrocities committed on them, leave apart taking any action on the said FIRs or complaints.”

While highlighting that the Nuh district of Haryana has been affected by anti-national elements, they said that the Hindu community has been forced to lead the ‘life of an animal’. As such, the petition urged the apex court to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of CBI, NIA officials, and a retired Supreme Court judge to look into the accusations of forceful conversions, rape of Hindu women and minor girls. The petitioners also asked the court to cancel all sale deeds made by Hindus under coercion in the past 10 years.

The petition was heard by a 3-Judge Bench of CJI NV Ramana, Justices Hrishikesh Roy and AS Bopanna. During the hearing, the CJI said, “We cannot entertain this plea based on newspaper reports.” The Supreme Court then dismissed the case, seeking protection for Hindus, after enquiring about additional affidavits.

Mewat – A hotbed of forced conversions and atrocities against Hindus

Mewat region, which falls over Rajasthan and Haryana, has been a hotbed of organised crime, cattle smuggling and illegal Rohingyas.

Earlier in February 2020, a gang-rape incident with a married woman was reported in a village in Tawadu, Mewat. The woman was abducted in September 2019 and held captive until she broke out of her captivity in on January 15, 2020. She had accused five men of kidnapping and gang-raping her for months. The woman alleged that while she was held captive, she was administered drugs by her captors and gang-raped. She also alleged that her kidnappers shot pornographic videos and threatened her of releasing them on the internet.

In September 2020, a 15-year-old teenager was abducted, drugged, and subsequently raped by 3 men—Ismail, Irshad and Sahir. The girl was gang-raped and tortured for over 28 hours in Pinangwa village of Nuh. The accused were known to the girl. According to the victim, when she had gone out in the morning to relieve herself, one of them, Ismail, lured her into going with him in a millet field nearby where he raped her. About 2 hours later, another one, Sahir came who raped her. Later, Irshad came and forced himself on her. The girl in her statement had said that she was drugged by the men before they raped her. 

In October last year, a terrifying incident of attempted love jihad and forced conversion of non-Muslim into Islam came to the fore with the blood-curdling murder of a 21-year-old student named Nikita Tomar in Faridabad. She was shot dead in broad daylight by two men outside the Aggarwal college in Ballabgarh, Faridabad earlier this week. One of the two assailants, Tauseef was harassing her and making advances at Nikita. She had filed a complaint of molestation and harassment against Tauseef last month and a compromise was reached later.

An FIR was filed by Nikita just a day before her murder, against the accused Tauseef harassing her and trying to convert her to Islam. The shocking incident was caught on camera, visuals of which had gone instantly viral in the aftermath of the brutal killing. Touseef and his accomplice Rehan were arrested by the police. The prime accused of Tomar’s murder, Touseef, belonged to Mewat, a region infamous for rampant abductions, rapes, and forcible religious conversions of Hindu and Dalit women into Islam by the radical Muslim inhabitants.

Twitter has been showing a distorted map of India on the career section on its website. The map that appears on the ‘Tweep Life’ section shows Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh detached from India. The distorted map was first noticed by user @/thvaranam.

The distorted map has attracted criticism from netizens. User deepakdkokha said, “@rsprasad is @Twitter new @PMOIndia Y such hesitancy in banning @Twitter what is the undertable dealing that @Twitter is becoming bold, anarchist day by day, humiliating ctzn of Hindusthsn & also altering demographic map.”

Another user, Vivekmane343, said, “Twitter again showing their left face showing wrong map of India you are still waiting for an official apology from Twitter? Show them their place this time.”

Om Singh said, “Twitter shows this map on @TwitterCareers homepage .. see the map of India, JK and Ladakh has been fully cut.. This is done deliberately, and it cant be a mistake …”

Twitter is a repeat offender

This is not the first time that the social media platform has shown the wrong map of India. In October 2020, national security analyst Nitin A Gokhale found that Twitter had labelled the Indian territory of Leh in Ladakh as part of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Gokhale, the founder of Strat News Global, had marked his location as ‘Hall of Fame Leh’. However, the microblogging platform displayed the area as a part of PRC. The screengrab of the video read, “Nitin A Gokhale was live. Jammu and Kashmir, People’s Republic of China.”

The government of India issued a warning to CEO Jack Dorsey over the misrepresentation of the Indian map. Giving notice to Twitter, Secretary IT had said that such attempts not only bring disrepute to Twitter but also raises questions about its neutrality and fairness as an intermediary.

In recent times, Twitter is having a tussle with the Government of India over the new amendments in the IT law that makes it mandatory for the social media platforms to take steps to ensure complaints raised against the platforms are solved in the prescribed period. Conditions like the appointment of an interim grievance officer and other regulations have irked the social media giant. By not following the regulations, Twitter has already lost its legal protection against content posted on the platform.

Delhi Police arrests Gurjot Singh from Amritsar in connection to Red Fort Violence

On June 28, Delhi Police announced that its Special Cell of Northern Region (NR) had arrested a wanted criminal identified as Gurjot Singh, who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head. Singh was wanted in connection to the Red Fort Violence of Republic Day 2021 in Delhi, where two flags with the Sikh holy symbol were hoisted on Red Fort. He was arrested from Amritsar, Punjab.

Sanjeev Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, confirmed the arrest and said, “One Gurjot Singh wanted in the Red Fort case who had a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head has been arrested by a team of NR of special cell from Amritsar.”

In February 2021, Delhi Police had announced a cash reward of Rs.1 lakh for anyone who provides information to trace several accused persons in the case. Some of the accused were Gurjot Singh, Deep Sidhu, Jugraj Singh, Gurjant Singh and others. Gurjot was absconding since the January 26 incident of violence and riots in Delhi. Since then, the police were tracing the accused in Delhi and Punjab.

Republic Day Riot

On January 26, a large group of alleged farmers riding tractors drove inside Delhi and created a riot-like situation. The incident took place in the background of a tractor rally that was supposed to be held on the outskirts of Delhi. The organizers and Kisan unions had promised Delhi Police that they would conduct the tractor rally only on the approved route but on Republic Day, they broke the barriers and entered Delhi. The rally was supposed to be a protest rally against the Agriculture laws named Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 that were passed in September 2020.

The rioters posing as farmers unleashed their wrath on Delhi and Delhi Police. Around 300 police personnel were injured, and property worth crores were damaged. Visuals that emerged from the riots showed how the alleged farmers tried to mow down the police personnel with tractors, attacked them with swords, batons and other weapons and mercilessly attacked police personnel at Red Fort for security purposes.

A group of rioters including Deep Sidhu, Gurjot Singh and others reached the Red Fort and hoisted two flags with the Sikh Holy symbol. Interestingly, the hoisting of the flag was in sync with the provocations of terrorist organization Sikhs For Justice, whose founder had announced a cash prize for the person(s) who hoist the flag on Red Fort. A total of 43 cases were registered in connection to the riots.

In a bizarre incident, a groom in Odisha reportedly walked out of his wedding after seeing that the girl’s family have not served mutton curry to the wedding guests. As per reports, a 27-year-old man named Ramakant Patra cancelled his wedding after learning that the bride’s family have not included mutton curry in the wedding feast.

The incident was reported on 25 June.

As per reports, the incident occurred in Jajpur district’s Sukinda. Patra, who hails from neighbouring Keonjhar district was to marry a girl from Sukinda’s Bandhagaon village.

When the baraatis arrived at the wedding venue for the ceremony, they were welcomed by the bride’s family. But they discovered that the wedding feast does not include mutton curry. Miffed over the lack of mutton on the menu, the groom’s side reportedly had an argument with the bride’s family.

Following the argument, groom Ramakant Patra decided to cancel the wedding. Though the bride’s side tried to persuade him, Patra was unyielding. The groom’s baraat then left without wedding. They reportedly stayed at a relative’s place in the same block for the rest of the day.

Patra then married another woman from the Phulajhara village on the same night, before returning home.

Reports say that no complaint has been filed regarding the issue.

It is notable here that mutton curry is a very popular dish in Odisha and is often considered a must at weddings and most social events, including picnics and other feasts. Families who don’t include mutton curry in the wedding feast often face criticism from guests.

On June 27, Samajwadi Party MLA Iqbal Mahmood has blamed Dalit and tribals for population growth in the state of Uttar Pradesh. His statement came in the pretext of CM Yogi-led Uttar Pradesh Government’s decision to examine the feasibility of a population control law in the state.

As per reports, the Law Commission of the state is examining the possibility of enacting a population control law. According to the 2011 census, the population of Uttar Pradesh is around 20 crores. Population wise, it is the largest state in the country. If compared to the world’s population, Uttar Pradesh is only behind three nations in terms of population. Keeping all the aspects in mind, the UP Government wants to control the population growth in the state.

Law against the population is a conspiracy against Muslims – Iqbal Mehmood

On Sunday, SP leader Iqbal Mehmood alleged that the population control law that the state government is planning to enact is a conspiracy against the Muslim community. He said, “Any law against population control will be a conspiracy against Muslims.” He further said, “The rise in the country’s population is due to Dalits and tribals and not because of Muslims”. He alleged that the government is trying to attack the Muslims in the grab of population control.

Questioning why such law is being brought only in a state, he said, “If the BJP thinks only the Muslim population is increasing in the country, a bill for this law should have been brought in the Parliament so that it could be implemented throughout the country. Why is it being brought in UP?” He claimed that Muslims have already understood not to go for more than 2-3 children.

He warned population control law would meet the same fate as the National Register of Citizens (NRC). He said, “The impact of NRC in Assam was more on non-Muslims than on Muslims. The population law will also have the same fate. I fail to understand why the Yogi Adityanath government, which has barely seven months left in the office, is talking of a population control law?”

‘You cannot control Nizam-e-Qudrat’ – Shafiqur Rahman Barq

Samajwadi Party MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq also called the proposed law to control the population a conspiracy against Muslims. He said as the elections are coming closer, BJP is trying to win votes by launching laws that may harm Muslims. “But it will hurt BJP instead of benefitting them,” he alleged. Calling birth of children’ Nizam-e-Qudrat’, Barq said that no one could stop it. He further alleged that any proposal to control the population is illegal and it will create problems in the state.

UP Government to examine draft in two months

As per the reports, the Law Commission of the state is working on a draft that would be ready in two months. Aditya Nath Mittal, chairman of the Law Commission, said that the draft would be prepared and handed over to the state government within two months.

UP Government has launched an awareness drive named “Do Bachche Hi Achche” ( It is better when there are only two children) movement in the state on June 27. The program will run till July 11, i.e. World Population Day. Under the program, Asha workers will mark families with two or more children. Counselling will be provided for these families to inform them about the benefits of having lesser children. The newlywed couples will be informed about the benefits of smaller families. The government will also run mobile vans across the state to teach people about family planning.

Earlier this morning, Supreme Court advocate Prashant Bhushan went on a ranting spree against COVID-19 vaccination. In a series of tweets, though, Bhushan claimed that he is not anti-vaccine but against the promotion of universal vaccination.

Bhushan claimed younger population have a higher chance of dying through vaccination as compared to suffering severe complications or even death due to coronavirus.

Explaining on how he is not anti-vaccine, Bhushan cited an article about a bereaved man who lost his wife allegedly after taking vaccine and said he believes it is “irresponsible to promote universal vaccination of experimental and untested vaccines, especially to young and COVID-19 recovered people”.

“The healthy young have hardly any chance of serious effects or dying due to covid. They have a higher chance of dying due to vaccines. While naysayers are perpetually in the attack mode to slam the central government for not speeding up the vaccination process, some of their comrades among public “intellectuals” and members of civil society are actively and unabashedly promoting vaccine hesitancy and providing meretricious arguments to claim they are not against the vaccines.

Bhushan’s stand against vaccination is not a new phenomenon. For months now, the prominent Supreme Court lawyer has been accused of promoting vaccine hesitancy and creating doubts in the minds of people about the alleged damaging effects of the vaccines.

Recently, Bhushan continued his propaganda against COVID-19 vaccines by sharing a misleading report to allege that death rate is more among vaccinated people. He tweeted a report by a website named lifesitenews.com, which suggested that among the people who were infected with the delta variant of the Coronavirus, the mortality rate was higher in vaccinated people compared to people who have not received any vaccine.

Earlier this month, Bhushan carried on with his subtle attempt to undermine vaccines by sharing a report and alluding that people are dying of Covid-19 even after taking vaccines. The report that he shared on Twitter is on Uttarakhand cops testing positive for Coronavirus, which said that more than 2000 policemen in the state had tested positive, and 90% of them were vaccinated. Among them, 5 had died, the report said.

In April 2021, Bhushan tried to slyly push his anti-vaccine propaganda when he raised doubts about the efficacy of the vaccines in the United Kingdom vis-a-vis India.

Besides, Bhushan had in the past, also questioned the efficacy of masks in preventing the spread of coronavirus.

While Twitter has been very strict in not allowing its platform to be used for promoting anti-vaccine propaganda in the West and suspends people indulging in such behaviour, it remains to be seen if Prashant Bhushan’s Twitter account will be banned on the lines of the suspension of American author Naomi Wolf, whose Twitter account was withheld after she was found indulging in spreading misinformation about vaccines.

Amidst the growing menace of Islamic radicalisation in Kerala, and cases of Kerala youth going to join ISIS, the outgoing Director General of Police (DGP) Loknath Behera has informed that the phenomenon is due to the high literacy rate of the state, reported The New Indian Express.

While speaking on the matter, Behera emphasised, “Radicalisation is a matter of concern in Kerala and the state police have been taking big efforts to address it by conducting de-radicalisation and counter-radicalisation programmes.” He said that the recruitment of Keralites by ISIS remained a grave concern for the State but number of recruits has reduced recently.

Behera pointed out, “According to the inputs, Kerala is a recruiting ground because the people here are educated and the IS requires engineers and doctors. But we have dealt with it in a systematic way and it has come down.” He informed that the state constituted ATS (anti-terrorist squad) to keep an eye on vulnerable individuals, provide counselling with the help of their parents and track those planning to join ISIS.

“After the exodus of 21 families to IS-controlled areas, we did lots of things. How many went after that? We have formed one of the best ATSs in the country and it is doing a great job behind the scene. That’s why there is not much concern. But we cannot be complacent,” he added.

DGP Loknath Behera also informed that the police are conducting surveillance of sleeper cells of terror outfits in the state.

The Kerala DGP, who is set to retire on June 30 this year, clarified that he has no hesitancy in invoking the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against such criminals. He added that he used to charge such terrorists with UAPA, given that it was enacted by the Parliament. Behera’s statements come two weeks after the mother of an ISIS bride urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safe return of her daughter from Afghanistan.

Four couples from Kerala had joined Islamic State: NIA

In June 2016, four couples left Kerala for Afghanistan to wage a war against the US forces in ISIS-controlled Khorasan Province. The women were identified as Nimisha Fathima alias Fathima, Sonia Sebastian alias Ayisha, Merrin Jacob alias Mariyam, and Raffaela. After their husbands were killed, they surrendered before the Afghan government in 2019. They had expressed the desire to return back to India.

According to the charge sheet filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2017, Sebastian had left India in 2016 to join the ISKP in Afghanistan along with a group of 21 men and women from Kerala. They had crossed over to Afghanistan on foot from Iran. The NIA said Sebastian, from Kasargod in Kerala, left India on May 31, 2016, with her husband, Abdul Rashid Abdulla, from Mumbai airport.

They had said the couple held secret classes supporting IS and jihad during the last part of Ramzan in Padanna and Kasaragod. Sebastian is an engineering graduate. Another IS sympathiser, Merrin Jacob alias Mariyam, was married to Bestin Vincent, a resident of Palakkad. The couple escaped to Afghanistan in 2016 to live in the IS-controlled territory. Later, the Chrisitan couple converted to Islam after their marriage, and Vincent assumed the identity of Yahya. Vincent was later killed in Afghanistan.

Similarly, Vincent’s brother Bexon and his wife, Nimisha alias Fathima, also converted to Islam and escaped to Afghanistan with them. Raffaela was married to a 37-year-old physician Ijas Kallukettiya Purayil a physician from Kasargod. The couple is believed to have stormed a prison in a terror attack in Eastern Afghanistan’s Jalalabad in August 2020. Around 30 persons were killed in the attack.

Various organisations, including the Catholic bodies, have been raising concerns over the targeted conversions and brainwashing of non-Muslim girls by radical elements in Kerala to use them as wives of ISIS terrorists.

In a significant achievement, India’s cumulative COVID vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 32.36 crores to become the first country to inoculate so many people till now.

The data was shared by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare which showed India has administered 32,36,63,297 doses till now which is marginally higher than the US. America has till now administered 32,33,27,328 doses.

India vaccinated over 64.25 lakhs of people on Sunday to take the cumulative tally of total vaccination count to over 32.26 crores, beating the United States of America.

For over a week now, the Modi government has stepped up its vaccination programme across the country. More than 50 lakh people are being vaccinated across the country constantly, with more than 4 crores people getting jabbed in just last one week. On June 21, 2021, India administered a record breaking 86,16,373 vaccine doses in single day.

The Uttar Pradesh ATS has intensified its probe into the illegal and forced mass conversions racket. It is now being reported that the investigation has exposed the trail of foreign funding to fuel illegal religious conversions in India. As per ATS, Rs 2 crore were diverted from the United Kingdom and misused by the prime accused Umar Gautam and Mufti Qasmi.

The ATS has informed that the bank account of a Gujarat-based businessman was used for these transactions. Inspector general of police, ATS, GK Goswamy informed, “Transactions to the tune of crores of rupees have been made from the UK into the accounts of a businessman in Gujarat, who is under our scanner. We are verifying the accounts.”

Elaborating on the matter, another official revealed that the transfer of Rs 2 crore was done from UK illegally, without following the guidelines. Also the account of a trust/society was used to make private transactions.

“Evidences show violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), which is being probed. ED is also looking into it,” added the officer. 

ATS officials said they were tracing the details of transactions from the Middle East countries to the accounts of the two accused. Additionally, an investigation is on looking into the properties owned by the arrested duo and identifying other accomplices.

School used as prime centre under scrutiny

Nurul Huda English School located in Fatehpur has been named as a prime centre used by Umar Gautam for his conversion activities. The NCPCR has demanded a report on the school in three days. 

Over 50 students, teachers and administrative staff have registered their video statement. The police have also seized the CCTV footage of the school, however, footage of the prayer hall and classrooms have been found missing.

The UP ATS had earlier stated that the duo of Umar Gautam and Jahangir Qasmi had targeted women, underprivileged and differently-abled children for illegal conversions, to the extent of alienating many from their families and radicalizing them. Many have been converted with the lure of money too.

Several cases of hearing and speech impaired children at the Noida Deaf Society being converted to Islam at the behest of the conversion racket had also come to light. ATS had stated earlier that huge funds from foreign sources have been moved to sustain the conversion racket.

ATS takes Umar Gautam to 4 districts

The ATS on Saturday took the prime accused Umar Gautam and Mufti Kazi Jahangir Qasmi to four districts near NCR which they frequented for conversion purposes. 

An ATS official informed, “We found documents of some individuals in NCR, who were forcefully converted. “Umar Gautam and Mufti Kazi Jahangir Qasimhad visited these areas several times. All these details are being scrutinised,” said the officer.

United Kingdom’s national broadcasting news service BBC on Monday watered down the ghastly terror attack on Jammu & Kashmir Special Police Officer (SPO) in Pulwama by referring to terrorist as ‘charampanthi‘.

‘Charampanthi’ means extremist, which is different from terrorist. On June 27, terrorists shot dead a former special police officer (SPO) of Jammu and Kashmir Police at his home at Hariparigam Village in district Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir. Ex-SPO Fayaz Ahmad Bhat’s wife Raja Begum and daughter Rafia were also critically injured in the attack. His wife succumbed to injuries while daughter is still critical.

Terrorists, on Sunday, barged into his house and fired multiple rounds of bullets.

However, BBC, continuing the tradition of being Islamist apologist and having an anti-Hindu bias, referred to the terrorists as ‘extremist’.

This angered netizens who pointed out that BBC needs to call spade a spade.

People pointed out how there is a difference between the two. They even questioned if the BBC believes the perpetrators of 9/11 terror attack in New York were terrorists or extremists.

Netizens also pointed out how the BBC usually comes up to clean up after such terror attacks by playing down such terror activities.

The BBC has not tried to hide its anti-Hindu bias. During February 2020 anti-Hindu riots in Delhi, the BBC played up its narrative and used visuals to show one-sided stories about the Delhi Police.
