UK: PoK-origin MP Nazir Ahmed, who organised ‘Black Day’ protest against India, quits House of Lords facing expulsion on charges of sexual assault

0

Pakistani-origin British Member of Parliament Nazir Ahmed was facing expulsion from the House of Lords for breaching the Code of Conduct when he offered his resignation on the 14th of November. Ahmed who was born in Mirpur city in the Mirpur district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir which is under illegal occupation of Pakistan, is charged for failing to act on his personal honour.

“Lord Ahmed resigned from the House of Lords on 14 November but the report, which was agreed by the committee and seen by Lord Ahmed before that date, recommends that he should have been expelled,” the nine member conduct committee said.

Nazir Ahmed who is a member of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom was found to have used his position to sexually exploited a woman named Tahira Zaman under the pretext of helping her. Zaman was reportedly put in contact with Ahmed to assist her to make a complaint to the Metropolitan Police regarding exploitation by a faith healer.

Ahmed offered to help her but used his position as a member of House of Lords to sexually assault her on March 2, 2017, lying to her about his intentions to help her in filing a complaint with the Metropolitan Police regarding the faith healer and emotionally and sexually exploiting her despite knowing that she was vulnerable.

The Commissioner for Standards who conducted investigation into the allegation against Ahmed noted, “I find that Lord Ahmed exploited Ms Zaman emotionally and sexually even though he knew she was receiving treatment for anxiety and depression. This exacerbates the seriousness of his breaches of the Code”. Recommending the sanction of expulsion of Ahmed from the house the Commissioner further noted that that Ahmed persistently gave deliberately inaccurate and misleading accounts to conceal his behaviour towards Zaman and failed to co-operate with the investigation.

Ahmed had made an appeal to the House of Lords Conduct Committee against the findings of the Commissioner and recommended sanction. Upholding the findings of the Commissioner, the Committee noted that Ahmed did not show any remorse or take any responsibility for any aspect of his conduct towards Zaman. The Committee headed by Lord Menace and comprising of four external members dismissed Ahmed’s appeal. The report of the Committee will now be put for approval before the House on November 19 without a debate.

Ahmed’s India Hatred

During the 69th Republic Day celebrations at the office of High Commission of India, Ahmed had organised a ‘Black day’ protest in which Indian flags were torn by hand and shredded under foot by Pakistani protesters. Ahmed had also hired five private billboard vans showing ‘Free Kashmir’ ‘Free Khalistan’, ‘Free Assam’, ‘Free Nagaland’ and ‘Free Manipur’.

Lord Nazir Ahmed who was appointed to the House of Lords by former Birtish PM Tony Blair has a tainted track-record. He was suspended from the Labour Party after several controversies. He was awarded a jail term in relation to a fatal car crash in 2007. He had termed his prison sentence, which was later reduced to a court of appeal, a ‘Jewish conspiracy’.

In 2018, it was reported that Nazir Ahmed had backed an anti-India campaign by Kashmiri and Sikh separatists during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the United Kingdom.

China: On this day, 55-year-old Hubei resident became patient zero for the pandemic that has brought death and destruction across the world

0

Exactly one year ago, a 55-year-old Hubei resident was believed to be the first person to be struck down with coronavirus, the contagion that has since then been on a relentless march across the globe, affecting more than 55 million people and leaving 1.33 million dead in its wake.

Though China never really acknowledged the patient zero and would perhaps never admit to it in future as well, a report published in the South China Morning Post in March this year attributed the coronavirus infection to an unnamed 55-year-old Hubei inhabitant. The South China Morning Post accessed Chinese data which revealed that every day for the following month five new cases of coronavirus were reported.

Chinese officials turned a blind eye to the growing number of “mysterious new pneumonia cases”

Around this time last year, as China’s bitter winter swept the country, several people in the Hubei province started reporting mysterious pneumonia cases of unknown cause. Chinese social media apps, most notably WeChat was rife with rumours of a strange new flu and common pneumonia akin to “SARS” taking root in the province capital, Wuhan.

However, the CT scan images revealed that the symptoms exhibited by a growing number of people in Wuhan were characteristics of neither of the diseases. With increasing number of people reporting lung abnormalities, their CT scan images and blood reports confirmed a new kind of “viral infection” that doctor speculated was “probably infectious”.

But the Chinese authorities continued to remain in denial, showing eager alacrity to quell any discussion over the new mysterious disease that was gaining hold in Wuhan and surrounding areas, even as people kept reporting being down with a range of inexplicable symptoms including high fever, coughing and respiratory complications. Several hospitals in Wuhan began reporting a large number of cases of this mysterious new disease even as Chinese authorities turned a blind eye to the rising caseloads.

It was only weeks later that China realised that the virus was more resilient than it had imagined and that there was no other way but to acknowledge the dangerous new infection. On December 8, 2019, it grudgingly reported the first case to the World Health Organisation. However, even then China did not acknowledge the possibility of a human-to-human transmission of the disease. It took them about 40 more days, until January 21, to report that the coronavirus was susceptible of human transmission.

China muzzled Scientists and virologists from making public discoveries related to coronavirus

China has also reportedly gagged scientists and virologists who had tried to sound the alarm regarding coronavirus and made path-breaking discovery in treating the contagion.

Virologist Shi Zhengli, an expert based at the Wuhan Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and her team made an incredible discovery of the coronavirus gene sequence but they were reportedly “muzzled” from making it public.

According to Chinese journalist Gao Yu, who interviewed Shi during her incarceration in Wuhan, the institute had finished gene-sequencing and related tests as early as January 2 but were prevented from releasing it. Shi had identified the novel coronavirus and developed its gene sequencing within three days, finding that it was 96 per cent similar to a virus found in horseshoe bats in Yunnan. The information about the gene sequencing wasn’t made public until a week later.

A whistleblowing Chinese doctor, Li Wenliang, an ophthalmologist at a hospital in Wuhan, the city at the epicentre of the outbreak, was among the first few to flag the emergence of a new kind of respiratory illness that had overwhelmed the hospitals in the city. He had warned about the disease to his fellow doctors’ group on WeChat. However, the Chinese authorities reprimanded him for sharing “illegal and false” information about the coronavirus. A few months later, Li died of the coronavirus.

Initial mismanagement and lack of transparency by China propelled the global journey of coronavirus

The initial mismanagement of the coronavirus crisis by China, coupled with its efforts to suppress transparency in the identification and treatment of the disease proved catastrophic for the entire world. On January 12, China released the genetic sequencing of the COVID-19, almost 2 months after the first novel coronavirus case was reported in Hubei. A day later, coronavirus was reported to have gone global after Thailand reported its first case.

Since then there has been no turning back. The coronavirus outbreak has galloped at an unprecedented pace across the world. From the United States to Australia, from Brazil to Italy, the coronavirus pandemic had ravaged several hundred countries, crippling their economies due to the virus-induced lockdowns imposed in the affected countries and strained public health systems.

Many countries in the world had gradually emerged out of these lockdowns, only to be hit by the second wave of coronavirus that had forced them to once again impose the restrictions. Others, which are not in a position to reimpose the lockdowns, are helplessly bearing the brunt of the virus at the cost of avoiding an imminent financial disaster. A year on, the pandemic continues to rage, leaving the world as vulnerable as it was when it was first detected in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in November 2019.

‘As a conscious Muslim man, I would never inaugurate a Kali Puja, I should not have visited it’: Shakib Al Hasan apologises after death threats

0

Star Bangladeshi cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has been forced to issue a grovelling apology after photographs of him attending a Kali Puja in Kolkata went viral on social media. He said that as a ‘conscious Muslim man’, he would never do such a thing as inaugurating a Kali Puja and profusely sought forgiveness from his fellow citizens for attending the event.

“I was on the stage for barely two minutes. People are talking about this and thought I inaugurated it,” Shakib Al Hasan said during his apology. “I did not do this and being a conscious Muslim I would not do this. But, maybe, I should not have gone there. I am sorry for this and apologise,” he said. “As a practising Muslim I always try to follow religious customs. Please forgive me if I have done anything wrong,” the cricketer added.

Shakib Al Hasan receives death threats

A Bangladeshi youth named Mohsin Talukdar in Sylhet, Bangladesh, went live on Facebook to threaten all-rounder cricketer Shakib Al Hasan to hack him to death over allegations of inaugurating a Kali Puja program in Kolkata, India. On Sunday, little after midnight, Mohsin went live on Facebook and threatened to hack Shakib to death.

On Monday morning, Mohsin again came live on Facebook and apologised for threatening Shakib Al Hasan. He said that after offering Fajr prayers, he realised threatening to slaughter someone was not right. “I apologise for that,” he said. Mohsin further added that he has prayed for Shakib’s salvation for having inaugurated Kali Puja program. “I prayed that Allah may guide him. Although I said a lot of things out of excitement, it was not right. I apologize for that,” he said.

Hindus attacked in Bangladesh following terrorist attacks in France

The Bangladeshi authorities on the 1st of November arrested two individuals, Shankar Debnath and Anik Bhowmik, over charges of hurting religious sentiments of people after an Islamist mob ran riot. The mob went burning and vandalising houses of Hindus in Comilla district after a man reportedly shared a Facebook post on the controversy surrounding the publication of a cartoon of Prophet Mohammed in French satirical weekly magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Uttar Pradesh: CBI arrests junior engineer for sexually exploiting over 50 children, selling videos to paedophiles in India and abroad

0

A junior engineer of Uttar Pradesh irrigation department has been arrested by the CBI for sexually exploiting and abusing over 50 children and selling the video recordings to paedophiles in India and overseas for over a decade. The accused is a resident of Chitrakoot and was arrested from Banda. According to reports, the accused is said to have victimised over 50 children in the age group of 5-16 years in the districts of Chitrakoot, Banda and Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh. The CBI will soon be producing him before a concerned court to seek his custody.

“Apart from the physical abuse of these children, the accused also allegedly recorded their acts using mobile phones, laptops and other electronic devices. It was further alleged that these photographs and video films containing child sexual abuse material were published and transmitted by the accused using the facility of the internet,” said the CBI in a statement.

CBI revealed the junior engineer was in constant touch with paedophiles in India and overseas

During the raid, the CBI recovered eight mobile phones, approximately Rs 8 lakhs in cash, sex toys, laptops and other electronic devices containing a large amount of child sexual abuse material.

It is being alleged that the accused sexually abused the children, recorded the depraved act using mobile phones other electronic gadgets and sold it over the dark net to paedophiles across the globe. Using darknet, the accused was in touch with paedophiles in India and overseas. He used the dark web to sell and share CSAM content, said the CBI. A detailed analysis of his email revealed that he was in constant touch with several people for sharing CSAM.

The CBI revealed that the accused often lured children by offering them mobile phones and laptops.

Kerala police crack down on paedophiles sharing child pornography over dark net

Earlier, the Kerala Police had in June this year, teamed up with the Interpol to crack down on paedophiles sharing child pornography. 30 people involved in circulating child pornography through a WhatsApp group had been identified and three persons, including the group administrator, were arrested in connection with the case.

Last year too, cases had been registered by the Kerala police against as many as 58 people for sharing child pornography with others through various social media platforms.

The crackdown was a part of operation ‘P-hunt’ (paedophile hunt) initiated by Cyberdome, a wing of the Kerala Police on June 11, 2019, wherein Kerala police, to curb the menace of cybercrime involving sexual attacks on children, joined hands with the Interpol, Crimes against Children Unit and the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.

Journalist Patricia Mukhim resigns from Editors Guild of India, accuses the Guild of defending only ‘celebrity’ editors and anchors

Displeased with the Editors Guild of India’s silence over the Meghalaya court’s recent ruling over a Facebook post against her, journalist Patricia Mukhim has tendered her resignation from the journalists’ body, alleging the organisation defends only star editors and anchors.

Mukhim submitted her resignation letter to the Guild chief Seema Mustafa on Monday, lamenting that the organisation was silent on the High Court order against her but showed eager “alacrity” in extending support to Arnab Goswami following his arrest earlier this month.

In her letter, Patricia Mukhim, a Padma Shri Awardee and editor of The Shillong Times, rued that despite Arnab being a non-member, the Guild issued a statement in his favour after he was arrested in a case of abetment of suicide and not in connection with his journalistic pursuits. She said that she had shared a copy of High Court order with the Guild hoping that the organisation will issue a statement condemning the order.

“I see this as a classic case of the Guild playing to the gallery to defend celebrity editors/anchors whose voices matter while choosing to deliberately ignore a plea (unstated) from one of its members. Clearly, this is also a case of prejudice and a deliberate attempt to push those in the margins even further away so that they disappear completely from the national discourse (since the Guild is a national association of editors) and leave them to deal with the matter in their personal capacity,” Mukhim bemoaned in her resignation letter.

Patricia Mukhim further continued, “It is no longer possible for me to continue to be a part of this hallowed group of editors who are loyal to those who occupy a certain elite space. In fact, I feel completely out of place; almost an outlier in the Guild.”

Meghalaya High Court finds Patricia Mukhim guilty of inciting communal disharmony

Mukhim is currently facing charges of a criminal case against her over a social media post where she outlined incidents of violence in the state of Meghalaya. On November 10, the Meghalaya High Court dismissed Mukhim’s petition seeking to quash an FIR filed by Dorbar Shnong, the traditional local body in Meghalaya against the editor’s Facebook post.

Earlier in July this year, Patricia Mukhim had taken to Facebook to condemn the attack on nine “non-tribals” by a group of alleged tribals at a place called Lawsohtun. Mukhim had claimed that non-tribals were attacked with iron rods for playing in a “tribal majority” area. Mukhim had raised questions of the Dorbar Shnong of the area and tagged Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma seeking action against the attackers.

However, the High Court found Mukhim guilty of creating communal disharmony, a crime under Section 153 of the CrPC.

Chinese journalist faces up to five years in jail for reporting on COVID-19 and criticising the government over handling of the virus

A Chinese journalist, Zhang Zhan, who is under detention since May for reporting on the Wuhan virus outbreak has been formally indicted on charges of spreading false information. Zhan is facing up to five years imprisonment. 37-year old Zhan is a former lawyer accused of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” that is said to be very commonly invoked against critics and activists in China. She is kept in a detention facility in Shanghai.

According to Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD), she went missing on May 14 and a day later, it was revealed that she was detained by police in Shanghai. She was formally arrested on June 19 in Shanghai and it was after three months of detention that she as allowed to meet her lawyer. The indictment sheet released on Monday stated that Zhang Zhan had spread false information through text video and other media such as WeChat, Twitter and YouTube.

She is also accused of accepting interviews from overseas media Free Radio Asia and Epoch Times maliciously spreading information on Wuhan virus. Zhan is reportedly on a hunger strike since September and one of her defence lawyers has dropped out of her case. Zhan went to Wuhan in February this year where she reported on a number of stories including detention of other independent journalists and the harassment of families of victims who sought accountability.

Zhang Zhan was earlier detained on two occasions

Zhan was detained in 2018 on similar charges. In September 2019 she was summoned by Shanghai police and was later criminally detained and arrested on suspicion of “picking quarrels” for supporting Hong Kong as stated by the CHRD. Before being released in November 2019, she was made to undergo psychiatric examination twice.

Other journalists who were detained

Zhan is not the only one to be arrested for reporting on Wuhan virus, many other journalists have been arrested in this year. Chen Quishi, a former lawyer turned journalist, was arrested in January. Li Zehua was arrested in February after he went to Wuhan to report on the disappearance of Quishi. He was released in April. A Wuhan resident Fang Bin went missing around the same time but has not been heard of ever since.

Respect for territorial integrity, need for action against those supporting terrorism, emphasis on India’s ability to deliver vaccines worldwide: PM Modi at BRICS

0

Addressing the virtual summit of the BRICS on Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi laid down India’s contribution to the international community during the coronavirus pandemic. Modi said that it was because of the strength of the India Pharma sector that the country could help provide medicines to over 150 countries in the Covid-19 lockdown phase and assured that India would do the same with its impending coronavirus vaccine.

“Due to the strength of India’s pharma sector, we were able to provide medicines to over 150 countries during COVID-lockdown era. Our vaccine production and delivery ability will help mankind in the same way”, assured PM Modi.

Speaking about economic recovery after COVID-19, PM Modi said: “Recovery post COVID will see a huge role being played by BRICS nations. There is a lot of scope in increasing trade between BRICS nations”.

Atmanirbhar Bharat mission to act as a significant force multiplier post COVID: PM Modi

Calling the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission a significant booster to India’s economic recovery from the coronavirus lockdown damages, Modi said: “We have started a big reform process in India under our Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. This could be a significant force multiplier post COVID. We saw this during the pandemic when we helped hundreds of nations with medical supplies and now we are looking at large scale vaccine production.”

PM Modi gives out a strong message to Pakistan and China during BRICS address

During his speech, while Modi batted for reforms within international organisations such as the UN and the IMF, he sent out a strong message to both China and its ‘all-weather friend’ Pakistan from the platform. While it warned China with regards to its expansionist policy, without taking names PM Modi forewarned Pakistan for supporting terrorism.

In an apparent reference to China, Modi said that “India believes that to improve connectivity it is important to respect the other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” Moreover, while terming terrorism as the biggest challenge, Modi called on the BRICS country to act strictly against those countries who support terrorism and provide tactical support to the terror groups.

India to take over the chair of the BRICS

“At the invitation of President Putin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the 12th BRICS Summit hosted by Russia, under the theme ‘Global Stability, Shared Security and Innovative Growth’ on November 17,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

The MEA said the leaders would be discussing intra-BRICS cooperation and key issues in the global context, including the reform of the multilateral system, measures to mitigate the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, cooperation in counter-terrorism, trade, health, energy and people-to-people exchanges.

“India will be taking over the chair of the BRICS, which would be the third BRICS Presidency for India since its inception (after 2012 and 2016) and will host the 13th BRICS summit in 2021,” the MEA added.

Devise a mechanism to deal with complaints against media: Supreme Court to centre on Tablighi Jamaat petition

0

During the hearing of a petition alleging media bias in reports relating to Tablighi Jamaat during the onset of the Wuhan virus outbreak, the Supreme Court today asked the Central government to devise a mechanism to address the complaints relating to media. Commenting on the affidavit filed by the Central government before it, a Bench comprising of the CJI SA Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian observed that the affidavit was silent on the applicability of the Cable TV Networks Regulation Act and the mechanism adopted by the government to deal with such complaints against the media.

As reported by Bar and Bench, in its affidavit filed on November 13, the Central government had informed the Apex court that the petition was based on vague assertions and the news reports of certain websites. The Centre had contended that these could be not be relied upon to allege that the entire media was spreading communal disharmony. “First you did not file a proper affidavit and then you filed an affidavit which did not deal with the two important questions. It cannot be done this way Mr Mehta. You have to tell us how you have acted under Cable TV Act in some prior incident”, CJI SA Bobde said to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta.

Asking the Centre as to why the National Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) which is a private body, should deal with complaints against media the CJI said, “We want to know the mechanism employed by you and this affidavit has nothing on it. Why should we refer to NBSA etc. when you have the authority to look into it. If it does exist you create authority else we will hand it over to an outside agency”.

The court asked the Centre to tell it about the mechanism to deal with such complaints and directed it to create a mechanism if there was none. The court said that regulation could not be left to an organisation like the NBSA. The next hearing of the matter has been scheduled after three weeks.

Petition filed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind

The petition was filed by Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind and their legal cell secretary through advocate Ejaz Maqbool contended that the Talighi Jamaat incident was being used to ‘demonise’ and blame the entire Muslim community. Thousands of people has participated in the religious gathering at Tabilighi Jamaat headquarters in Nizamuddin West in the month of March this year.

Tablighi Jammat had emerged as India’s coronavirus superspreader event at the early stages

In reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha in September, G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home, had said that members of the Tablighi Jamaat were responsible for spreading the Wuhan Coronavirus to many. “As reported by Delhi Police, despite guidelines/ orders issued by various authorities in pursuance of the outbreak of COVID-19, a huge gathering assembled inside a closed premise; over a protracted period of time; without any semblance of social distancing or provision of masks and sanitizers. This also caused the spread of the virus amongst many persons”, Reddy had said.

Unbridled propaganda: The Wire rakes up Manusmriti to demonise Hinduism yet again

0

In India, Hinduism has become an easy target. Hinduism has always been open to interpretations-Ekam Satya, Vipra Bahudha Vadanti – Truth is One, often told differently by different scholars. This inherent openness of ideas, flexibility of faith, has kept Hinduism alive for Millenniums but unfortunately this has also damaged Hinduism in many ways.

The innocent acceptance of interpretation inherent in Hinduism has reduced its footprints from a global faith to now a partitioned land of one Country. Vested interests have used this very tolerance and openness to dishonestly invade the faith with much viler designs than the actual Islamic or Christian invasions of the history. People have misused their social status obtained through expertise and experience in unrelated areas to attack and malign Hinduism.

An article on Hinduism, critical of the faith, for most part based in unfounded assumptions, published in The Wire and written by one retired Judge Shri, PB Sawant, was too much for me, a day after the Indian secular state banned the firecrackers associated with Diwali since centuries, going back to Skanda Purana on the basis of, well, Zero data. They banned it because they could. They did not ban Vehicles in Delhi or Stubble Burning in Punjab, because they could not. Much as they forcefully made women enter Sabarimala because they could, and not get women to enter Haji Ali Dargah, because they could not.

When a judge, as in this article, wades into the area of unknown wisdom, the damage is more serious than a film Journalist turned political intellectual or a movie starlet writing similar stuff. The article is titled “The Manusmriti and A Divided Nationand was published on the 16th of November, 2020. While most publications avoid writing against Christianity around Christmas and against Islam around Islamic festivals, for the fear of lash back, most Hinduphobic articles are timed to be published around Hindu festivals.

It gets them traction on account of outrage, and the outrage is usually mild and intellectual, therefore does not carry any serious threat. This article builds on the back of Communist propaganda which first creates a strawman argument that Hindus want to establish a rule run according to Manusmriti in India and then proceeds to demolish it. This has been the design of the Naxalists and Periyarists. Being indigenous religion and with its evolution inseparably linked with India, attacking Hindus is equivalent to attacking India and brings them closer to the idea of Balkanization of India which both Ambedkar and Nehru were wary about.

It is amazing that while most Hindus I speak to have almost never seen Manusmriti, let alone having read it or wanting it to be imposed on India as the Code. Most Hindus have been only asking for Uniform Civil Code, a modern progressive law which could apply uniformly across citizens irrespective of their religion and faith. What is funny is that the so-called secularists oppose a secular code.

Those who celebrate the America as a melting Pot of various Cultures, oppose it in India and instead want India to be Salad Bowl, without uniformity. While one Partition has shattered the heart of every Indian, to the leftists it presents a possibility. That is the reason their aim is to harp on the difference and hide the commonality across the faiths practiced in India. Such Hindu-maligning articles help them creating ill-will among the minority faiths against the Hindus of India.

The article begins with a fallacious pre-supposition of Aryan Invasion Theory. It was hypothetically proven that the theory was a dishonest attempt by European Historian to legitimize their colonization. After Rakhigarhi excavation, and the DNA analysis has scientifically debunked the Aryan Invasion theory, which established Hindus as invaders constantly engaged in a struggle of supremacy with the Mool Niwasis or the aborigines of India.

Sometimes South Indians and at other times, Tribal Hindus were positioned as the communities wronged by the invading Aryans. While Islamic invasions were whitewashed as secular empire-building exercises, fictitious Aryan invaders were established as slave-traders. The lead author and scientist of the Rakhigarhi research, Prof Vasant Shinde has been quoted to say,

The paper indicates that there was no Aryan invasion and no Aryan migration and that all the developments right from the hunting-gathering stage to modern times in South Asia were done by indigenous people,”

Unlike the political scholar that elite intellectuals often are, the people behind this study included Archeologists and DNA Scientists from Harvard Medical School, whose findings were based on scientific facts and data. Their derivations are mostly in line with the literary interpretations starting from the Battle of Ten Kings as mentioned in the oldest literature in Human History, the Rigvedas, which speaks of Migration Westwards from India, and not the other way round.

In light of the scientific facts, the charges the author makes fall flat. I am not very surprised that the author did not bother to look at the report which came out in 2019 while writing an article towards the end of 2020, essentially to position the Aryans, and thus Hindus as a predatory race which enslaved a much advanced Indian civilization. In total ignorance of studies and facts, he boisterously claims in the beginning of the article-

It is undisputed that at least for 2000 years before the invasion by the Aryans, this country was inhabited by people who were far more advanced, one may say, urbanized, peaceful and relatively prosperous.”

He then writes,

“However, almost all historians have written the history of this land as if there was no civilization before the Aryans.”

It is very amusing that the so-called communist fact that he presents as undisputed is not backed by any historian by his own admission. Surprising to see a judicial mind with scant respect of science or theoretical research. Having settled the criminality of the Aryans (loosely translated by the Communists as upper-caste Hindus or Savarnas), the author comes to the point for which this article, camouflaging as scholarly piece in social history, was written.

The second section of the piece deals with Caste and Prejudice, a favorite of the Leftists. He alludes to stupid interpretations of the leftist intellectuals from Alternate reading of Durga to Ravana as a victim of Brahminical Patriarchy, totally ignoring the Brahminic Background of the Demon King. For them, the emancipation of Dalits require the Brahmin teacher of Ambedkar who gave him his surname, the Kshatriya benefactor of his, the Maharaja of Vadodara, who sent him abroad on a scholarship, the Kayasth President who as a head of Constitution Committee brought him in as the head of drafting committee- are all to be maligned and vilified, as invading Aryans.

Then somehow researching into the history, he claims, no one wrote, he finds that invading Aryans imposed Sanskrit on the newly slaved society, pushing them to the shadows. Having established their supremacy over the natives by the imposition of a foreign language, the Aryans then set about the task of dividing the society, with Brahmins occupying the position of power, followed by Kshatriyas and Vaishyas.

The Aryans, outnumbered, thereby set themselves at the top of the food chain, by declaring themselves as the Brahmins. I am still trying to find out why this long-debunked theory, long-exposed conspiracy has been rekindled by so eminent a person. With the enthusiasm of a schoolboy, he then goes to the primary purpose with which the Varna System was converted to Caste and latter was juxtaposed on the communist theory of Class struggle, when he writes-

‘Just as the Aryan looted and plundered the locals when they came, those who came after them did exactly the same.’

He says, quoting no one (as no Historian, later he calls them Manuwadi historians, wrote about the period), leaning totally on his imagination, Castes were

-all birth-based, socially isolated from and inimical to each other.

Then he says, came Buddhism, which expanded under the benign leadership of Emperor Ashoka. As the author has already wiped out Historians, he reads no one and quotes no one on his claim that Ashoka’s kingdom was not actually so benign and Kalinga Massacre happened at least three years after Ashoka had converted to Buddism. In truth, Buddhism was a Hindu reform movement undertaken by Khshatriya King who studied for years in Ayodhya, the sacred land for Hindu learning. Both Buddhism and Jainism were –ism with basis in Hinduism only. Unlike the latter day politicians who want faiths to fight one another, Harshvardhana of Kannauj, from Seventh Century, was a Buddhist and Shaivite at the same time.

The writer then swiftly shifts to modern politics, which is the purpose of this article wrapped in a scholarly pretense, and when he, again without references, speaks of atrocities on Buddhists and Jains during the reign of Chandragupta Maurya and says –

The point seems to be conveniently forgotten by the Hindutvavadis of today, who claim to be descendants of Aryans, and never tire of talking about marauding acts of Muslim invaders.

Since the learned Judge believes that no historian has written about anything, he offers no reference. For instance when he speaks of Caste System, he very confidently says that the-

“..order of status and privileges were assigned, based on births, duties and obligations which were fixed for life, watertight, immutable. Marriage between them was not permitted, nor could they eat together.

He has tried to establish the Evangelical fantasy about Hinduism with the firmness of a fanatic. No references, just a judgement. While it is true that Varna Vyavastha was a part of Manusmriti which no one has seen in its originality. In most revered of Hindu books, Ramayana and Mahabharata, Dharma is referred to from the writings of the Vedas. In fact, Mahabharata goes further and asks the questions of Dharma to be based on Purana and Itihasa.

Ved Vyasa gave the responsibility of propagating the Vedas to four Rishis, and he taught Purana to Romharsha, who came from Suta a Shudra Varna. There is an episode in Mahabharata, when Balrama, kills him, on finding him sitting at a higher platform than other Brahmin scholars, in spite of his glorious parentage and being brother of Krishna, he is charged with Bramha Hatya.

The Varna system, assured safety to the scholars, and any scholar from whatever lineage was treated as a Brahmin safe from the violence of Martial class. People from older generation who have seen the world ruled by dictators like Indira Gandhi must know the significance of state-provided protection to the intellectual class.

About the immutability of caste system, while the author does not give any reference, only claims that ManuSmriti mentions it and that it was used in the Hindu world as some sort of IPC or Shariah, I quote here from Mahabharata. When Nahush as a Serpent ties around Bhima, and asks Yudhishthir to answer him on questions of social order, the Snake asks

Who is a Brahmin, O Yudhishthira, the wise one, You tell me.”

Then Dharmaraj Yudhishthira responds-

“The one who has Truth, Benevolence, forgiveness, dignity, lack of cruelty and fortitude, such a man is a Brahmin, O King of Serpents.”

The great Snake then counters and says these are all features of good human beings and could be even found in a Vaishya or a Shudra. What about them, he asks. Yudhishthira than responds:

If these good characteristics like love for truth and kindness are present in a Shudra, he is a Brahmin and if they are absent in a Brahmin, he is not a Brahmin any longer.

The Snake, still in doubt, then asks – Would it mean that a man’s birth is of no consequence unless he is initiated into education.

And Yudhishthira responds- Unless a child is initiated into education of Vedas, he remains a Shudra, such is the direction of Manu himself.

And then, the Snake satisfied says- O King! Truth, fortitude, discipline, charity, non-violence and righteousness- these are the character traits which bring success to men in life, not their Varna or birth.

Varna was only about profession. Gita says about pursuing what God has made one for, and then that becomes the Varna. Also in old Rigvedic world, unlike the Western thought in which Author seems to have studied, there is no primacy granted to one body part over the other. Unlike the Victorian convention, in Hindu texts hips and breasts are mentioned with ease and without embarrassment.

Mentioning the four Varnas as Brahma’s part only proves that the intent is to have specialization of job but ensuring that no one looks down at other profession and hence the Shloka mentioning that all Varnas came from different parts of Brahma only. Nothing created from Satan like the Abrahamic faiths. All Varnas have the divine in them. The separation was to create specialization and maintain the sanctity of profession.

A Brahmin is supposed to teach and no one else, writes the author, quoting Manu Smriti. In itself, it makes sense. A Judge who is a politician or a political ideologue who has no time to study historians but poses as a historian is a dangerous proposition. Brahmins were supposed to pursue the knowledge, and be free of political affiliations.

The separation of Church and State is also ancient in Hindu culture unlike Empire-building Military religions where the followers double up as fighters. I have not seen this more pronounced than in Ramayana where a Rajrishi who is quite capable of fighting his battle goes to the King Dasharath and asks the State to intervene and ensure the security of the Scholars in his Ashram.

This is so different from the Communist ideology which treats the campuses as hiring ground for the cadres and the students as cannon fodder in the political battles. To fool the young, they clothe propaganda into scholarship and ignore written texts from Primary Sources brazenly claiming no one has written about it in order to further the agenda without worrying about the facts. In fact, talking about Ramayana, in Bal Kaand itself, Naarada says

“When Brahmin reads Ramayana, he becomes wiser, When Kshatriya reads it, he rules over the world, the Vaishya who reads it prospers in trade and Shudra who reads it is honored everywhere.”

I agree with the writer that the country is large. It is important that poisonous thoughts are not spread based in fictitious material, in the name of identity politics. This is something Dr Ambedkar warned us about in his famous speech “The Grammar of Anarchy”. Leftists appropriating Ambedkar must read him. You cannot get away by saying ‘it is settled’ and ‘no one has written about it’. I hope the leftist intellectuals instead of misusing their social status and position to peddle propaganda, become little bit of Brahmins themselves and do real search of the truth instead of putting poison on the platter for the unsuspecting minds.

“No deal without deal”: RS Prasad hits out on Congress as names of senior party leaders emerge in AgustaWestland scam

After the stunning revelations made by one of the prime accused in the AgustaWestland case, BJP lawmaker Ravi Shankar Prasad has slammed the Congress party over its alleged involvement in the high-profile defence deal scam.

“Why is it that the name of Congress leaders prop up every time we talk about a defence-related scam? And they never fail to disappoint. Is this how the party is playing with the national security of the country? Be it a Bofors scandal or Jeep scam. They did not even procure bullet-proof vests for our soldiers but we did. And these helicopters were procured for the Prime Minister and the President. However, even kickbacks were received in such high-profile cases. The BJP demands answers from the Congress party. The country has awakened (to the irregularities in the Agusta Westland case)”, he stated while addressing a press conference on Tuesday.

Ravi Shankar Prasad had said that the country has been demanding an answer from Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Wayanad MP and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders in connection to the case. “The name of several Congress leaders have surfaced in the case. Denial won’t work anymore,” he added. The Union Law Minister read out the statement of key accused Rajiv Saxena about how Kamal Nath’s son Bakul Nath wanted to cover up the scam. “This is a serious matter and the Congress party has to answer”, he emphasised.

Ravi Shankar Prasad had added that the handler Rajiv Saxena has been at the helm of managing kickbacks in several other cases such as the Pilatus deal. He has alleged that the main accused Sanjay Bhandari has connections with several Congress leaders and family members of the Gandhi dynasty. “Was it necessary to loot in the defence deal? No defence deal without kickbacks, loot and some Congress leader becoming the beneficiary”, the Union law Minister reiterated.

The AgustaWestland Scam

India had signed a deal in 2010 under the UPA regime to buy 12 AgustaWestland AW101 helicopters for the service of the Prime Minister, the President and other VVIPs. It is alleged that some politicians and public servants had abused their official positions to reduce the service ceiling of the VVIPs helicopter from 6000 metres to 4500 metres to make AgustaWestland eligible for the contract and had awarded the contract for an amount of Euro 556.262 million in 2010. The deal was cancelled in 2013 after the scam was revealed.

The AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam has been nothing less of a blistering drama ever since middleman Christian Michel was extradited to India from Dubai.

Key Congress leaders named in AgustaWestland Case

One of the prime accused turned approver in the AgustaWestland scam, Rajiv Saxena, has named key Congress leaders and their relatives over alleged involvement in the Rs 3,600-crore VVIP chopper scam. In his interrogation in connection with the scam, Saxena named senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid, Kamal Nath’s son Bakul Nath and Sonia Gandhi’s close aide Ahmed Patel. Saxena, who was picked up by UAE government security agencies in Dubai and later extradited to India on January 30, 2019, and who later turned approver, was interrogated by the Enforcement Directorate, which attached his assets worth Rs 385 crore. The ED has now approached the apex court to revoke the approver status of Rajiv Saxena for not revealing the complete disclosure of facts in the case.

According to Saxena’s deposition, which was accessed by Indian Express, along with other important documents such as copies of bank statements, accounts of offshore companies, and email communication between key stakeholders, he had allegedly admitted to carrying out several hawala transactions and setting up a complex web of offshore structures for the co-accused. The most essential part of Saxena’s statement involves how the alleged kickbacks of the Agusta Westland deal, which was later cancelled by the UPA II government, ran through two companies—Saxena’s Interstellar Technologies and Global Services—owned by Christian Michel, who was extradited to India in December 2018 and remains in jail.
