Gujarat: Cops nab one Ismaeel Lashkar for raping a 4-year-old girl in Kutch

On Thursday night, a team of police and Local Crime Branch (LCB) reportedly nabbed a 19-year-old boy named Ismaeel Lashkar for raping a four-year-old girl in Yashoda Dham locality of Bhachau in the Kutch district of Gujarat. The incident took place 1.5 months ago during which the youth, who happened to the neighbour of the victim, committed the heinous act.

The victim’s parents are migrants from the State of West Bengal and have been living in the area for 2 years. Lashkar also hailed from West Bengal and worked in a nearby factory. He lived alone and was addicted to watching pornographic content. Cops have informed that the Coronavirus test results of the accused are awaited and that he will be arrested if he is tested negative.

On the fateful day of May 20, the girl was abducted by the accused while she was playing outside her hut in the colony. He forcefully took her to an adjoining bush and raped her. An officer from the Kutch (East) police station informed that about 70 migrant families lived in the Yashoda Dham locality and that they had suspected the accused to be one among them. Interestingly, the perpetrator behaved normally in public and took precautions to not raise suspicion in people’s minds.

Investigation into the Case

The victim was initially terrified and reluctant to confide about her perpetrator to a stranger. However, she eventually revealed the name of Lashkar after a female assistant sub-inspector was able to win her confidence. The victim also underwent psychological counselling sessions through an interpreter. As per reports, the accused has been booked under Sections 4 and 5 of the POSCO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, besides Sections 363 (abduction) and 376 – 3A,3B (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Cops had seized the mobile phone of the accused and found explicit content in it. Lashkar has revealed that he was motivated to commit the heinous crime after watching pornographic material. Inspector (Gandhidham Crime Branch) MS Rana informed that the accused used to frequently visit the area and that they had received a tip-off about his involvement in the crime.

West Bengal: Maharul Sheikh and Taiful Sheikh killed after crude bombs they were making accidentally explode, 5 others injured

In yet another incident of accidental blast while making bombs in West Bengal, two persons have been killed and five others have been injured after a bomb accidentally exploded while manufacturing bombs at Suti in South Bengal’s Murshidabad district on Friday night.

According to the reports, the West Bengal police confirmed that two Muslim youth along with few others were involved in making crude bombs when there was an accidental explosion killing two people on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Maharul Sheikh and Taiful Sheikh. The West Bengal police have admitted five injured persons to the local subdivisional hospital. Condition of two of them is said to be critical.

A senior officer of the district police said that the preliminary investigations have revealed that the men were not locals in the area, they were hired and were brought to Suti to make crude bombs. An investigation is on and the police are trying to identify the injured persons.

The police said that the house in which the accused were making the bombs has been severely damaged. One person, whose condition deteriorated, was later shifted to the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital.

The police are now questioning the wife of the house owner in connection with the incident.

International support for India grows amidst LAC standoff with China, here are key countries opposing expansionist strategies of China

As the groundswell of opposition develops against China for its alleged involvement in unleashing the deadly contagion across the world and bungling up its initial handling of coronavirus crisis, many countries around the globe have also raised their voices against China’s imperialistic and expansionist impulses in its neighbourhood.

PM Modi on Friday paid a surprise visit to Ladakh, giving a stern message to China that India will no longer acquiesce to its hegemony and territorial expansionism and resolutely stand up against it along the border. Following PM Modi’s high-voltage visit to the regions close to flashpoints, several countries have come forward to express their support for India.

Here’s the stance that key countries have taken up amidst ongoing India-China standoff:

The United States

The Washington on Friday, in no uncertain terms, pinned the blame for confrontation along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh to Chinese “aggression”. The White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany quoted President Trump saying, “China’s aggressive stance along the India-China border dovetails with a larger a pattern of Chinese aggression in other parts of the world and these actions only reveal the true nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).”

India had recently placed a ban on 59 Chinese apps, including Tik Tok, for engaging in subversive activities threatening the territorial sovereignty and integrity of the country. Reacting on India’s decision, the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo welcomed the move and said that the Chinese apps served as “appendages of the CCP’s surveillance state”.

France

French Defense Minister Florence Paley mourned the martyrdom of 20 Indian Armed Forces in Galwan Valley in a letter addressed to the Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The French Defense Minister wrote in the letter, “It was an attack against the soldiers, their families and the nation. In these difficult circumstances, I, along with the French Armed Forces, would like to express my firm and friendly support with India.”

France has also considered India’s request to compress the delivery schedule of 36 Rafale jets amidst spiralling tensions with Beijing. The first batch of four to six Rafale fighter jets, armed with Meteor air to air missiles and Scalp cruise missiles, are set to arrive this month-end.

Japan

Another important nation which is also a victim of China’s territorial insatiable greed, Japan, has also backed India in the border standoff with China. Japanese ambassador Satoshi Suzuki tweeted about his country’s support to India following a conversation with Indian foreign secretary Harsh Shringla. In a tweet, the ambassador said that Japan opposes “unilateral attempt to change the status quo” on the LAC. He also tweeted that Japan expects a peaceful resolution of the conflict between the country through the process of dialogue.

Japan’s support for India comes at a time when it is embroiled in a dispute with Beijing over Chinese vessels intruding in its territorial waters around Japan’s Senkaku Islands which China claims is part of its territory since ancient times.

Australia

Australia, which had been at the forefront of the initiative to launch an impartial investigation to determine the source of coronavirus, which was vehemently opposed by China, signed pacts with India to strengthen the bilateral military ties between the two countries.

The deals were announced after a virtual summit between prime ministers Scott Morrison of Australia and Narendra Modi of India. The new pacts, known as the Australia-India Mutual Logistics Support Arrangement and the Defence Science and Technology Implementing Arrangement, would “share a vision of a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific region to support the freedom of navigation, over-flight and peaceful and cooperative use of the seas”, Australian PM Scott Morrison said.

The relations between Australia and China are at its nadir after the former pushed for an independent inquiry into the source of the coronavirus outbreak that first emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan. The tensions escalated when China responded with threats of economic coercion, and then placed tariffs on Australian barley and banned beef from four major Australian exporters. The Australian government also witnessed a spate of cyber attacks which the Australian PM termed as “sophisticated” state attack, hinting at the involvement of China’s CCP.

The United Kingdom

The United Kingdom in reference to the border standoff between India and China said that “violence is in no one’s interest”. Britain, which is having its own set of problems with China, over the passage of the new controversial national security act that effectively ends the autonomy of Hong Kong, said that China had committed a “clear and serious breach” of agreement under which Hong Kong was handed over to China in 1997.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had called on India and China to engage in dialogue to resolve their border disputes as he described the escalation in eastern Ladakh as “a very serious and worrying situation” which the UK is closely monitoring.

ASEAN

Though the leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) have refrained from overtly blaming China for the current LAC standoff in Eastern Ladakh fearing retribution, the leaders of the 10 states in the group recently rejected China’s claim to the whole of the South China Sea. The group said that the 1982 UN oceans treaty should not be violated and held as a basis of sovereign rights and entitlements in the disputed waters.

As chair of the 36th ASEAN Summit, Vietnam rubbished the foundations of China’s maritime claims. The Chairman’s Statement said the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea is “the basis for determining maritime entitlements, sovereign rights, jurisdiction and legitimate interests over maritime zones, and the 1982 UNCLOS sets out the legal framework within which all activities in the oceans and seas must be carried out.’

‘Muslim mob chanted they will force Hindus out of the country, abduct Hindu women’: Eyewitness in Dilbar Singh Negi murder chargesheet

The Delhi Riots in February witnessed some of the most heinous crimes against humanity. Even among them, easily the worst was the brutal murder of 20-year-old Dilbar Singh Negi. His hands and legs were chopped off and then he was thrown into a burning fire to ensure that he was burnt alive. Now, more shocking details have emerged in the chargesheet filed in his murder case.

A key eyewitness in the case has said that there were clear instructions for the mob to attack Hindu homes and shops. The mob was abusing Hindus in a vile manner and were speaking freely of finishing off Hindus, the eyewitness said. Furthermore, it was alleged that the mob was speaking of setting Hindu homes on fire and were calling them ‘Kaafir’.

The eyewitness also alleged that the mob spoke of forcing ‘Kaafirs’ to leave the country and abducting Hindu women. Slogans of ‘Hindu Murdabad’ were also raised and members of the mob were inciting each other against the Hindu community. It is pertinent to mention here that the abduction of Hindu women and their forced conversion is a heartbreaking reality in the Islamist hellhole of Pakistan.

Three Muslim men confess to firing indiscriminately at Hindus

Three accused Muslim men in the murder of Dilbar Singh Negi have confessed to firing indiscriminately at Hindus in Shiv Vihar during the communal riots at North-East Delhi. Shahnawaz, Salman and Sonu Saifi, admitted to procuring a pistol, while Salman confessed of “firing at Hindus”.

The Delhi Police also confirmed that call record prove that the three accused were present in the area during the said riots. The CCTV footage from Rajdhani School confirm the presence of six of the accused at the scene. The police have so far named 12 persons as accused in the chargesheet — all of them are in judicial custody. They have been identified as Mohd Shanawaj alias Shanu, Mohd Faizal, Azad, Asraf Ali, Rashid alias Monu, Sharukh, Mohd Shoaib, Parvez, Rashid alias Raja, Md Tahir, Salman and Sonu Saifi.

VHP leader Surendra Jain offers himself for human trials of newly developed coronavirus vaccine COVAXIN

Amidst the news reports that the ICMR is planning to carry out the human trials for country’s first coronavirus vaccine – COVAXIN made by Bharat Biotech, a senior leader of the Hindutva nationalist organisation Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has offered himself for the human trials.

Surendra jain, VHP’s joint general secretary has written a letter in this regard to the Vice-Chancellor of Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of health sciences in Rohtak, informing them about his willingness to be a subject of the human trials of the coronavirus vaccine, which will be tested on humans shortly before allowing the public usage.

In his letter, Surendra Jain offering himself for the human trial, said that he was ready and the institute can him for these trials any time.

Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences in Rohtak is one of the hospitals which has been asked by the ICMR to begin human clinical trials for the coronavirus vaccine.

Sharing the letter on Twitter, Vishwa Hindu Parishad hailed the senior functionary and said they saluted his courage to save the humanity.

ICMR writes letter to conduct human trials of the newly developed coronavirus vaccine

In a major development, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the apex body for the medical research in the country, on Thursday, had asked a total of 12 institutes to fast track clinical trials of the vaccine.

The country’s first coronavirus vaccine – COVAXIN, which is developed in by ICMR in partnership with Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech (BBIL) could be released by August 15 for the public use after the completion of human trials.

Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech successfully developed COVAXIN in collaboration with the ICMR and National Institute of Virology (NIV). The SARS-CoV-2 strain was isolated in NIV, Pune and transferred to Bharat Biotech for the effort.

In a letter written to Bharat Biotech and principal investigators of medical colleges, ICMR Chief Balram Bhargava had said that BBIL is working expeditiously to meet the target, however, the final outcome will depend on the cooperation of all clinical trial sites involved in this project.

The indigenous, inactivated vaccine was developed and manufactured in Bharat Biotech’s BSL-3 (Bio-Safety Level 3) High Containment facility located in Genome Valley, Hyderabad, India. Last week, Bharat Biotech had received approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to conduct phase I and II human clinical trials.

DMK leader Devendran absconding after sexually harassing and murdering a young woman

The Tamil Nadu police have begun their search to arrest the DMK Youth Wing office-bearer Devendran, who is accused of not only sexually harassing a young woman but also allegedly murdering her after she refused to give in to his sexual demands.

According to the reports, the shocking incident was reported from Nainaar Kuppam near Cheyyur in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu after the brother of deceased victim Sasikala registered a complaint against the DMK leader Devendran accusing him of sexually harassing his sister and killing her.

According to the complaint, Sasikala, a young woman working in a private company and a native of Nainaar Kuppam was initially sexually harassed by Devendran. The brother of the deceased alleged that the DMK leader killed Sasikala after she refused to give in to his sexual urges.

Reportedly, the DMK leader along with his brother Purushotthaman had secretly filmed her and then used it to blackmail her stating that he would share on social media if she did not fulfil their sexual desires.

However, the brave young girl Sasikala refused to budge and had warned them of informing her parents. Angered by this, the DMK office-bearer allegedly killed her and made it look like she committed suicide by hanging herself, the complainant said.

The Tamil Nadu police are currently searching for the absconding DMK man Devendran and his brother Purushotthaman.

Uddhav Thackeray approves purchase of expensive new cars for ministers when Maharashtra is struggling to pay salaries to the govt employees

Even as Maharashtra faces an acute crisis from the raging coronavirus outbreak, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state has given its authorisation for the purchase of 6 new vehicles for its ministers.

The approval from the Uddhav Thackeray government came at a time when the Maharashtra Treasury is in a bad shape in the wake of coronavirus induced lockdown in the state. The demand for government authorisation for the purchase of 5 new vehicles for office bearers and 1 for staff member came from the Maharashtra School Education and Sports Department.

Asserting that the School Education and the Sports Department needed vehicles for carrying out the governmental work, the Maharashtra state government authorised the purchase of the 6 vehicles, including 1 for the staff member.

Special provision made to bypass ceiling limit of Rs 20 lakh for vehicle purchase

The Maha Vikas Aghadi government gave its nod for the purchase of Innova Crysta 2.4 ZX (7 seaters) worth Rs 22,83,086 from Madhuban Motors Pvt. Ltd., Lower Parel, Mumbai. It is pertinent to note that while the ceiling limit for the purchase of a car has been Rs 20 lakh, a special provision, with the approval of the state government’s finance department and chief minister Uddhav Thackeray was passed to pursue the purchase of the vehicles.

Approval amidst raging coronavirus crisis in Maharashtra

Maharashtra holds the unenviable distinction of being the worst-hit state from the scourge of coronavirus. So far, about 1,92,990 of the total 6,48,000 cases in India have been registered from Maharashtra and the pandemic has shown no signs of abatement.

The decision to approve the purchase of new vehicles comes amidst galloping coronavirus outbreak and a day after Maharashtra Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation minister Vijay Wadettiwar claimed that the Maharashtra government will have to borrow money to pay for the salaries of its employees in August. Wadettiwar said that the state is facing a severe funds crunch and will need to resort to borrowing to pay the salaries of its staffers from next month.

However, despite the implausibility of a swift attenuation of the contagion and the liquidity crisis facing the state government, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and the Finance Department, being fully cognisant of the economic situation in the state, passed a special and unnecessary provision to sanction the purchase of 6 new vehicles for the Maharashtra School Education and Sports Department.

Explained: Why is China now eyeing the Russian city of Vladivostok?

Amidst the Coronavirus outbreak and the current border standoff with India, China has now staked its claim on the Russian city of Vladivostok, reported Wion. On Friday, the Russian embassy in India had tweeted a video about the foundation of the Russian military post, Vladivostok, in the Golden Horn Bay of the Sea of Japan. The tweet added that the military post was granted the status of a city in May 1880.

The same video was posted on Weibo, a microblogging site in China, by the Russian embassy in Beijing. However, it did not go down well with the Chinese populace. As such, China’s social media warriors launched a targeted online campaign against Russia. ‘Journalist’ Shen Shiwei from the State-owned CGTN network wrote that the tweet by the Russian embassy was ‘not welcome’ as Vladivostok was earlier a Chinese territory, Hai Shen Wai, before Russia annexed it through the ‘unequal’ Treaty of Beijing. The same sentiment was echoed by several other Chinese diplomats including China’s ambassador to Pakistan.

The Second Opium War and Treaty of Peking

During the Second Opium War (1856-1860), China faced defeat at the hands of Britain, Russia and France. After the end of the war, the Russian Tsarist Empire annexed the territories of Primorsky Krai and Vladivostok. The territory of Vladivostok was a part of the Qing Dynasty of China and was handed over to the Russians via the Treaty of Peking in 1860. Although it was lawfully owned, yet, the expansionist Communist Party of China (CCP) now dismisses the treaty as ‘unequal’. Besides Vladivostok, China also lost the Kowloon peninsula to Britain. The recent outrage on social media by China highlighted a deep-seated feeling of loss, even after 160 years.

Implications on Russia-China relationship

At a time when the world powers are irked with China over its mishandling of the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic, it has turned against its close ally Russia. This is despite the fact that Russia has neither blamed China for the outbreak of the Wuhan Coronavirus nor the human rights violations in Hong Kong. However, the tweet by the Russian Embassy in India, celebrating the foundation of Vladivostok, on Twitter is perceived as a ‘big strategic signal.’ The tweet assumes significance, amidst border tensions between India and China, and is considered as a manifestation of the strategic partnership between India and Russia.

Russia and China share a 4,209 km-long border. As per reports, the Defence Ministry of Russia is wary of the possible challenges that can be posed by China at the border, in the long run. Experts are of the view that the Chinese objection to Russia’s celebration will not extend beyond social media. Both the countries were at the brink of war in 1969 but a settlement was reached in 2008. During the agreement, Russia handed over a few islands in the Amur and Ussuri rivers to China. However, the status quo on Vladivostok remained unchanged. Reportedly, China has claimed about 160,000 sq km of land in Russia, in violation of various mutual agreements.

Expansionism of China

As per Wion News, China has been relentless in illegally occupying land in at least 21 countries. Even though the International Court of Justice has rejected its dubious claims, China continues to assert ownership of islands in the Philippines. The same is the case with Vietnam. Communist-run country has claimed fishing rights in the water near islands in Indonesian territory. Besides, China has disputes with Laos, Cambodia on ‘historical precedents and with Thailand over the Mekong river since 2001.

China has disputes with Japan over Senkaku and Ryu Kya islands. Moreover, the expansionist country has staked claim to the whole of South Korea on some occasions. Besides, the Communist-controlled country also has disputes with North Korea over Mount Pek-tu and the Tuman river. Earlier, it was reported that China had occupied the Rui village in Gorkha district of Nepal.

Decoding Chinese Aggression

“The Chinese autocratic Government is scared of its 140 crore people who work as bonded labourers, with no human rights, for the government. They fear that the rising dissatisfaction amongst people can lead to a revolt against the Communist regime. Amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, China has been forced to shut down its factories. The unemployment rate has soared as high as 20%. Therefore, the hostile attitude of China towards neighbouring countries is a part of a ploy to keep the country united,” Sonam Wangchuk was earlier quoted as saying.

He informed that the 1962 Indo-Sino War was also one of the tactics adopted by the then Chinese government to deviate public discourse from the failure of the administration to respond effectively to the famine that lasted between 1957 to 1962. Wangchuk added that the autocratic government knows that if there is a shrinkage in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth or that of the country’s prosperity, a mass uprising is inevitable.

India-China Standoff

About 5000 Chinese army personnel, under the garb of a military exercise, diverted their movement towards the Indian side of the LAC (Line of Actual Control). The current standoff began on May 5-6 and has been continuing all along the LAC up to Sikkim. The Indian Army had matched the level of their counterparts and had stopped them from conducting movements in several areas. As per the ANI report, Indian forces had also been airlifted from other high altitude areas to the Eastern Ladakh sector.

On June 15, around 20 Indian soldiers, including a Colonel were killed when Chinese troops had attacked with stones, batons, and barbed wires. In fierce combat that took place on extremely hostile terrain, 20 Indian soldiers had lost their lives to injuries and exposure. China is believed to have suffered 43 casualties but the communist state has been reluctant to confirm the number of casualties it suffered.

Beef ban Haram, Dog Meat ban Halal: Hypocrisy of welcoming ban on dog meat in Nagaland after claiming people have the right to eat what they want

Nagaland has banned the sale of dog meat in the state following protests by animal rights activists. Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Temjen Toy, informed citizens through social media that the Nagaland Cabinet has decided to ban commercial import and trading of dogs and the sale of dog meat.

There is significant opposition to the decision, both online and offline. Chuba Ozukum, former president of the Naga Hoho, Nagaland’s apex tribal body, said that it was wrong for the government to impose such rules with regards to eating habits of individuals. He said, “The main question is how is the government planning to implement this because those who have been consuming dog meat have been doing so since their forefathers’ time and they will not necessarily abide by these new rules.”

However, the ban has been welcomed by significant sections of the population. Liberals, who oppose a ban on beef on the grounds that people should be able to eat whatever they wish to, have welcomed the ban on dog meat in Nagaland and professed their infinite love for animals. It was also observed that the ones calling for the ban on dog meat are the same people who believe beef bans are fascist in nature.

One of the most prominent among them is Swati Chaturvedi who was “thrilled” by the ban on dog meat in Nagaland. She is of the opinion that beef bans are ridiculous, however, when people are prevented from eating dog meat, then it is alright.

Another individual who has been critical of beef bans in the past but believes the ban on dog meat is a ‘good move’ is NDTV anchor Gargi Rawat.

The uninhibited opposition towards the consumption of dog meat but unequivocal support for the consumption of beef only illustrates the hypocrisy that has become the cornerstone of the liberal philosophy. It appears that they are utterly unable to even spot the irony in their support for a ban on dog meat but opposition towards the ban on beef based on personal sentiments regarding the same.

It is clear that liberals genuinely believe that their sentiments are more important than the sentiments of the ‘unwashed masses’. They want laws that cater to their own warped worldview regardless of whether it has support among the masses. They have very little respect for the democratic will of the people and instead wish to use their significant hold over power to ensure that their writ runs large over how the country is governed.

There is no logical argument to advocate a ban on one kind of meat and oppose a ban on others. Such arguments are always based on human sentiments. It is quite clear that liberals resolutely believe that the sentiments of the masses do not matter. It is only their sentiments which should be given credence while governing the country.

While opposing a ban on the consumption of beef, liberals claim that everyone should have the right to eat what they want. But their support for a ban on dog meat only reveals that they do not really believe such a thing. It’s a matter of personal belief and the power to implement them, not principles as liberals would have us believe.

Nagas have every right to feel aggrieved by the ban on dog meat. For a long time, everyone was told that people have the right to eat whatever they want. But now, Nagas suddenly discover that such claims were utterly hollow and no one really believed such a thing. It is unclear what will happen in this regard in the future but purely on legal principles, it is unlikely that such a ban will hold if challenged in Court.

It is important to understand here the depths of depravity liberals have sunk to in order to oppose the ban on beef. Numerous festivals were organised where beef was distributed in utter disregard of the sentiments of those who want others to refrain from consuming beef. In Kerala, a calf was slaughtered by Congress workers in order to demonstrate their opposition towards the ban.

In Kolkata as well, a beef festival was organised to normalise the consumption of beef. The festival ultimately had to be cancelled after great opposition from Bengali Hindus who rightly interpreted it as a deliberate attempt to hurt their sentiments. Beef enthusiasts then saw it as ‘food fascism’. Needless to say, these belong to the same category of people who have been at the forefront of demanding a ban on dog meat.

Imagine for a moment how would liberals react if dogs were slaughtered in streets in opposition towards the ban on dog meat. Imagine for a moment how they would react if Dog meat festivals were organised for the same. We know how they would react, their cries would be apocalyptic and they would attempt to use every bit of institutional power in order to ensure that the organisers are punished.

Their opposition towards a ban of beef is such that when the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh shut down illegal slaughterhouses in the state, the shrill cries of fascism from liberals could be heard from galaxies a million light years away. It is time for us to recognise that liberal arguments are not based on logic or reason, they are based on personal beliefs. And we should always prioritise our own beliefs while formulating the laws of the country. Because when they have the chance, they do the exact same thing.

Unfortunate that aspersions are being cast on how our brave Armed Forces are treated: Army calls fake news by Congress ‘malicious and unsubstantiated’

A day after former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was caught passing of party workers and leaders as ordinary Ladakhis to paint PM Narendra Modi as liar, Congress party and its ecosystem launched a massive propaganda today claiming that the PM’s meeting with injured soldiers at Leh Military Hospital was staged.

Posting images from PM’s visit, Congress leader Abhishek Dutt yesterday claimed that it does not look like a hospital, because there is no drip, no medicines near the beds, and there are photographers instead of doctors.

The lie was even furthered by the official handle of Madhya Pradesh Congress that called the Prime Minister’s visit to meet the officers injured during the Galwan Valley skirmish a photo-op.

OpIndia had published a fact-check earlier that summarily debunked the malicious claims being made by Congress, their trolls and sympathetic journalists.

Now, the Indian Army had issued a clarification regarding the entire fiasco calling the fake news being spread by Congress and its ecosystem has ‘malicious and unsubstantiated’.

Following is the press release by the Indian Army:

There have been malicious and unsubstantiated accusations in some quarters regarding the status of the facility visited by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his visit to the General Hospital at Leh on July 03, 2020. It is unfortunate that aspersions are being cast on how our brave Armed Forces are treated. The Armed Forces give the best possible treatment to their personnel. It is clarified that the said facility is part of the Crisis Expansion capacity of 100 beds and is very much part of the General Hospital complex. The COVID-19 protocol had necessitated some wards of the General Hospital to be converted into isolation facilities. Hence, this hall which otherwise was normally used as a Training Audio Video Hall was converted into a ward ever since the hospital was also designated as COVID treatment hospital. The injured braves have been kept there since their arrival from Galwan to ensure quarantine from COVID areas. The Chief of Army Staff General M M Naravane and the Army Commander have also visited the injured braves in the same location.

The clarification issued by the Indian Army clearly states that the facility which PM Modi visited is part of the Crisis Expansion capacity of 100 beds and is very much a part of the General Hospital complex.

This facility was set up due to some parts of the General Hospital being turned into Coronavirus quarantine facilities and hence, this space which is normally used as a training audio-video hall was converted to a ward since the hospital was designated as a COVID treatment hospital.

Further, the statement says, “The injured braves have been kept there since their arrival from Galwan to ensure quarantine from COVID areas. The Chief of Army Staff General M M Naravane and the Army Commander have also visited the injured braves in the same location”.

At a time when Prime Minister Modi visited the Nimu area in Leh to boost the morale of our soldiers, Congress has been indulging in petty politics. It is no surprise that the party has blurred the line between hatred for the Prime Minister and their hatred for India and this incident seems to be just another example of the same.
