A group of cow smugglers had attacked the gau rakshak a few days ago. He was seriously injured during the attack, and later died during treatment in the hospital. Following the development, Hindus in the area are very angry and demand strict action against the perpetrators.

The Hindus from poor families and even kids are lured by the cow killers as a first line of defence to protect themselves.

Barabanki Additional Superintendent of Police South, Dr Akhilesh Narayan Singh commented on the matter and said that two illegal pistols, two used cartridges and three live cartridges were recovered from the possession of injured smugglers Sarwar and Gufran.

Reportedly, one of the accused, Lokesh, had earlier served as a district vice president for Chandrashekhar Azad's Azad Samaj Party in Muzaffarnagar.

The smugglers had collected more than 100 cows in the forest region to take them to a slaughterhouse.

The accused persons looted the truck loaded with cattle when it was moving towards a gaushala. The Uttar Pradesh police reached the spot immediately after being informed.

The Jharkhand police has asked Nishikant Dubey to produce himself on 19th April for interrogation in the case.
