An incident of a Gua Rakshak being fatally attacked has come to light from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The attack was reportedly carried out in revenge for a complaint filed by the victim against some Muslims alleging cow smuggling. CCTV footage of the attack is going viral on social media. The police have arrested five persons in connection with the attack three of whom have been identified as Hussain, Wasim, and Mubeen.
The attack reportedly took place on January 21 at Lal Darwaja in Karanj police station area. As per the complaint filed by the Gau Rakshak named Manoj Baria, he was standing around Rupali Cinema around 8 AM with a friend when four to five masked people arrived there and attacked him with sharp weapons and sticks. The complainant recognised one of the attackers from his voice as Muhammad Hussain alias Light Usman Ghanchi.
About three months ago, Baria had filed a complaint against Hussain and his men in Gandhinagar for allegedly smuggling around 700 kg of beef. The attack on Baria was allegedly carried out as revenge for the complaint.
The crime scene was recreated after the arrest of the accused
In the CCTV footage of the attack, the attackers can be seen covering their faces and attacking the victim. An FIR was registered by the police against the accused persons on the day of the attack.
The police told OpIndia that the investigation began as soon as the complaint was received. Based on the CCTV footage and the description of the complainant, the police traced the accused and arrested them the same night. A case has been registered under sections 189(2), 191(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 118(1) of the BNS and section 135(1) of the Gujarat Police Act.
“The interrogation of the accused caught on the night of the incident also confirmed the identity of the other three who were arrested early in the morning. After the arrest, action was taken against all the five accused as per the norms and they were presented in the court and remanded. After remand, we took the accused to the crime spot and recreated the crime scene,”, the police said.
