The accused had called his estranged wife to the cafe for ‘settlement’. The victim had earlier filed a case of domestic abuse against Irtiqua Sakib.

The police launched an investigation into the case in July 2022, after the victim informed the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office that Sullivan had abused her many times when she was 14. The accused had impregnated her and a DNA test determined that Sullivan was the child's father.

According to police officials, the woman sustained 80% burns to her arms, legs, and torso. She was taken to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16, where doctors sent her to PGI Chandigarh.
