The Indian Coast Guard intercepted three vessels and busted an international network involved in illegal mid-sea oil transfers about 100 nautical miles off Mumbai. The operation followed detailed surveillance and revealed cross-border handlers coordinating smuggling to evade customs duties and checks.
As per the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), the presence of active fishing gear and approximately 500 kilograms of fish catch clearly indicated ongoing fishing operations inside Indian waters.
The ICG activated its comprehensive pollution response in coordination with the state administration to deal with the all possible outcomes of the incident.
Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) on Sunday concurrently launched two indigenously designed and constructed Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) Amulya and Akshay for the Indian Coast Guard.
“Our heartful appreciation to @IndiaCoastGuard for the timely and professional medical evacuation of a Chinese citizen in the Arabian Sea off Mumbai,” tweeted the Chinese Embassy in India.
