The Meitei community in Manipur welcomed the Centre's decision to set up fence along the Indo-Myanmar border citing the problem of infiltration and cross-border narco-terrorism from Myanmar.
YS Mashungmi, a young Tangkhul Naga from Ukhrul district of Manipur and also a cadre of NSCN-IM, was allegedly detained and tortured by the Naga insurgents after he carried out a 'peace march' in Dimapur in Nagaland on December 8.
The joint ops were planned for days and started on February 17. By March 2, it is reported that all terrorist camps along the Mizoram border were destroyed.
