Congress leader Mehak Khan arrested for kidnapping a B.Tech student, accused of ‘love jihad’

Congress leader from Uttarakhand, Mehak Khan and her son, have been accused of kidnapping an engineering student. According to police, Mahila Congress Pradesh Secretary Mehak Khan has been sent to judicial custody for allegedly kidnapping an 18-year-old girl. The father of the girl had filed a complaint against Khan and her son for kidnapping. Khan also runs a beauty parlour in Haldwani.

Hindu organizations have alleged that she wanted to get her son, Danish, married to the girl, to which the girl refused. Following that the girl was reportedly kidnapped. Reports say that Khan had come to the college where the girl studied with her son and took the girl forcibly with her after threatening her.

According to reports, the mother-son duo came to Haldwani with the kidnapped girl together, where she got off the car and sent her son off to Delhi and she was also in process of fleeing to Delhi. According to police, Mehak has confessed to getting her son married to the girl in a court in Ghaziabad. However, it cannot be ascertained for sure whether the wedding took place according to religious customs or it was registered in court. The police are currently trying to trace the couple.
