Tension in Rohtak, Haryana after a cow was beaten to death by the accused, Yamin : Reports

Tension has erupted at Titoli village in Rohtak, Haryana after a cow was reportedly beaten to death with a stick by a man from the Muslim community in the morning of Wednesday, following which the angered villagers stormed the house of the accused, Yamin, and vandalized it.

Sensing trouble brewing, the accused attempted to flee the village after loading the carcass in a vehicle. However, the villagers chased them and had them surrounded but the accused and his friends managed to flee but the driver was caught.

The villagers claim that the cow was mercilessly beaten to death by the accused when it reached the front of his home. The Police have arrested the accused and a case has been registered against them under the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act 2015.

The accused, however, claims that the cow had attacked a member of his family. When he attacked the cow with a stick in response, it accidentally led to its death. The cow has since then been buried at the local graveyard.

The Police are still maintaining a heavy presence in the area to avoid any further conflict between the two communities. Some Muslim families have reportedly fled the area while others have closeted themselves in their homes. The mosques in the district have also been provided adequate security to avoid any untoward incident.
