Chhattisgarh: Son of a Congress leader accused of raping and threatening a Class 11 minor girl

The accused began to threaten the girl's family after they tried to register an FIR against them. Soon, the father went a step ahead to register a complaint in 'Women cell', who has now dispatched a team to the hospital to record the statements of the victim.

In a horrific incident, the son of a Chhattisgarh Congress leader and his two friends have allegedly raped a Class-11 minor girl and also threatened the family of the victim, reported Dainik Bhaskar on 26th December 2018.

According to the reports, the incident occurred on November 22 in Sayar village, Ambikapur of Chhattisgarh when a minor girl studying in Class 11 was kidnapped and allegedly raped by three youth, out of which, one was the son of a local Congress leader. The parents of the victim decided to lodge a complaint against those three youth for raping their daughter but shockingly their complaint was not registered by the Kedma police.

Meanwhile, the rape accused began to threaten the victim’s family for attempting to register a complaint against them. As their attempts to register a complaint against the accused failed, the victim attempted suicide at her residence by consuming pesticide. Later, the girl was admitted to the hospital with the help of villagers.

Reportedly, both the victim and two of the accused were studying at the same college. The father of the victim said that his daughter went missing after this incident on November 22 and the family could not trace as they failed to make any contact with her. Later, the girl called her father and informed about the incident. The father of the victim then went to the Kedma police station but their complaint was not registered.

The Kedma police officials had reportedly demanded a bribe of Rs.30,000 from the victim’s family to register a case. The victim’s father approached a BJP leader, who in turn asked the ASP to issue orders to Kedma police station against accepting the bribe. Even though the police stopped demanding the bribe, they did not register any complaint.

Later, the accused began to threaten the girl’s family after they tried to register an FIR against them. Soon, the father went a step ahead to register a complaint in ‘Women cell’, who has now dispatched a team to the hospital to record the statements of the victim.

Reportedly, Chhattisgarh Minister TS Singh Deo issued directions to local Congress leadership to raise the issue with IGP Himanshu Gupta. He further ordered the police officials to investigate the matter soon and initiate action against the rape accused.
