Assam: Sidul Islam sends intimate photos with wife to in-laws, threatens to release on social media if dowry not given

Sidul Islam's wife had gone to parental home after constant physical and mental harassment by husband for dowry

A shocking case of a man blackmailing his in-laws for dowry threatening to release intimate photos of his own wife has emerged in Assam. According to reports, a man named Sidul Islam has sent intimate photos with his own wife to her relatives, threating to make them viral on social media if he is not paid ₹5 lakh as dowry.

According to the family of the girl, Sidul had married the girl from Ramkrishna area in Karimganj last year. But around three months after the marriage, he started harassing her for dowry. Talking to local media, the girl said that Sidul used to beat her regularly, asking her to bring money from her family. Being a poor family, they were unable to comply with the demand, and hence he continued with physical and mental harassment on her. One day when the assault crossed the limit of tolerance, she went back to her parental home.

After that the family of the girl lodged a complaint with police against the man for dowry harassment. But this time Sidul used a disgusting strategy to extort money from his in-laws. He had some intimate photos with his wife, and he used these photos to blackmail his wife’s family in an effort to get money. He sent some of such photos to his wife’s father, uncle and other some relatives on WhatsApp, threatening that if they don’t withdraw the case against him, and don’t pay him ₹5 lakh, he will upload the photos on internet. He called and messaged the family and relatives of his wife several times to pay the money and withdraw the case, saying else he will make the photos viral social media.

The family of the girl has again lodged a complaint against Sidul for this attempt to blackmail. They have also approached the Superintendent of Police at Karimganj regarding the matter.

TMC's rebel faction extending support to the NDA in matters of legislation, and the latter accepting the same, can be thought of as a political compromise. But in no case should TMC MLAs and MPs be incorporated into the BJP. The criminal cases against them should not be dropped. They cannot be granted political immunity. Because that would be a travesty of justice.
