As per reports, the situation is currently under control.

Six persons, including four women, are reportedly injured in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh after an altercation escalated and a Muslim mob attacked homes of people belonging to other community. As reported by Jagran, they even beat them up where as many as nine people were injured.

Jagran reports that when the police arrived on the spot, the mob even attacked them. As per reports, the incident happened when Tilakram’s son got into an argument with Kismat Ali’s son over a game they were playing in the school. They complained to their parents upon reaching home. At first, the women of the house argued and allegedly even hit each other. Things calmed down after a few neighbours intervened.

However, a few hours later, Kismat Ali along with his associates, Shahid and over a dozen people came with sticks and started pelting stones at Tilakram’s house. When Tilakram’s family members opposed it, they reportedly started beating them up. Six people including Mayaram, Seema, Parvati and Kiran were injured.

On hearing their screams the villagers gathered and came to their rescue but on seeing the mob’s fury they got a little scared. The villagers then called the police. When the police arrived on spot, the mob reportedly started pelting stones on the policemen. As per reports, police force of three police stations have been stationed here considering the communal tension.

While a case has been registered against nine people, the police have reportedly denied being attacked by the mob. The situation is currently calm in the area.
