Kolkata: Two minor girls abducted from outside Kalighat temple and raped by one youth and two minor boys

The three accused have been booked under section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

On the day that heinous crime of gang-rape and murder came to the fore from Hyderabad, another shocker is being reported from Kolkata. In yet another horrific incident, two minor girls who begged outside the Kalighat temple in South Kolkata were allegedly abducted by three youths, two in them teenagers, and thereafter raped them on the banks of Adi Ganga, confirmed a police officer on Friday.

According to the officer, the two girls were abducted on Thursday afternoon by the three men who then took them to the banks of Adi Ganga (the nearly 75-km-long original channel of river Ganga) near Machandi Ashram and raped them. Acording to reports, the three men had took the girls with them promising them money and work.

“The three boys then took the girls to the banks of Adi Ganga (the nearly 75-km-long original channel of river Ganga) near Machandi Ashram and gang-raped them,” he said.

The police have arrested two of the three accused, one of them is identified as Gaurav alias Kajal, while the other one is a minor so he was not named. A manhunt is on for the third accused who is also a minor.

The medical examination of the two girls had been done and reports were awaited, said the senior police officer from Kalighat police station, adding that “We are talking to the girls and grilling the two boys to find out more details about the incident and the whereabouts of the third accused. A team of forensic experts are trying collecting evidence from the scene of crime.”

The three accused have been booked under section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

In another spine chilling incident, a 27-year-old veterinarian Dr Potula Priyanka Reddy was brutally raped, murdered and set ablaze in the outskirts of Hyderabad city on Wednesday night. The Telangana police have now confirmed that Priyanka Reddy was kidnapped and gang-raped. Four people have been reportedly arrested in connection with the case. They have been identified as Mohammad Pasha, Naveen, Kesavulu, and Siva.
