“Beat Rahul Gandhi in public”: Savarkar’s grandson tears into Congress MP for his Savarkar remark

As if the ridiculous 'Rape in India' comment was not disgraceful enough that the senior Congress leader went on to invoke Savarkar, opening up a whole new can of worms for himself.

Furious at Rahul Gandhi over his outrageous remark, Ranjit Savarkar, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s grandson, tore into the senior Congress leader saying that he should be beaten in public by the Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray for his offensive comment.

He also said that he is thankful that Rahul’s last name is not Savarkar.

He said, “It is good that Rahul Gandhi is not Rahul Savarkar or else we will have to hide our faces. Now, I want that Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray should beat him openly as he said many times that if anyone insults Veer Savarkar, he will beat him publicly. I expect the Shiv Sena would not change its stand on Veer Savarkar (that he should get Bharat Ratna).”

Defiant to apologise for his sexist and insensitive ‘Rape in India’ comment, mocking the violent crimes against women by twisting the ‘make in India’ slogan originally intended to promote growth and economic development in the country, the Gandhi-scion Rahul Gandhi today during the ‘Bharat Bachao’ rally in Delhi said, “My name is not Rahul Savarkar, won’t apologise for the truth”, alluding to Savarkar’s alleged apology to the British seeking an early release from Andaman jail.

As if the ridiculous ‘Rape in India’ comment was not disgraceful enough that the senior Congress leader went on to invoke Savarkar, opening up a whole new can of worms for himself.

Ranjit Savarkar further added, “Rahul Gandhi should be grateful to his grandmother Indira Gandhi that she dropped her surname (Nehru) or else people would have called them British servants. Jawaharlal Nehru was a British loyalist as in 1946 he accepted to work in the Vice Royal Council as a minister. He expressed loyalty to the then monarch of England, King George VI and took an oath to be loyal to the British.”

Moreover, union minister Giriraj Singh also took to Twitter to attack Rahul Gandhi saying Vir Savarkar was a real patriot. “No one becomes Gandhi and a patriot by merely adopting a surname. One needs Indian blood to become a real patriot. Many people have looted the country in disguise. It is unacceptable,” he tweeted

The war of words over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks further intensified with Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut issuing a veiled threat to its Maharashtra ally to not ‘insult’ the Hindutva icon.

In a series of tweets in Marathi, Raut said that there will be “no compromises on Savarkar”.

“Veer Savarkar is the god of not only Maharashtra but also the country. The name Savarkar is the pride of nation. Like Nehru and Gandhi, Savarkar sacrificed his life for independence. Every such god should be honoured. There are no compromises. Jai Hind”

“We believe in Pandit Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi. Do not insult Veer Savarkar,” Raut added without naming the Congress.

Rahul Gandhi’s rape comment:

On Thursday, the Wayanad MP, taking a dig at BJP’s ‘Make in India’ scheme declared that instead now the country has become ‘Rape in India’ while addressing a poll-rally in Jharkhand.

“Wherever you see in the nation, Narendra Modi had said Make in India. But now wherever you see, ‘Make in India’ is not happening, it is ‘rape in India’,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi’s ridiculous comment had triggered an uproar in the Parliament. Several MPs including women members across the party lines condemned the statements made by former Congress President and demanded an apology.

While Union Minister Smriti Irani tore into Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his remark, the BJP veteran leader and India’s defence minister Rajnath Singh said people like Rahul Gandhi should not be elected to the House.
