Punjab and Haryana High Court stays arrest of Kumar Vishwas over statements pointing at Arvind Kejriwal’s Khalistan hopes

The Punjab & Haryana High Court has stayed the arrest of former Aam Aadmi Party leader and poet Kumar Vishwas. A case was registered against him in April after he exposed alleged links of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal with Khalistani elements during the Punjab Assembly elections of 2022.

On April 20, the Punjab Police had arrived at the doorsteps of former Aam Aadmi Party leader and poet Dr Kumar Vishwas in Ghaziabad. According to reports, Vishwas attracted an enquiry from Punjab Police regarding the remarks he had made against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal during the Punjab Assembly elections in February.

Following the development, Kumar Vishwas submitted a plea challenging the FIR against him filed by the Punjab Police. In his plea, he sought a stay on any coercive action against him in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Bench of Justice Anoop Chitkara in an order on Monday has stayed the arrest of Vishwas in the case. The plea submitted by him stated that the FIR against him is a result of a malafide intention and an abuse of the process of law. Vishwas stated that the FIR is filed with an ‘oblique motive to set political scores’ after the statements made by him against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

Kumar Vishwas’ Plea

Kumar Vishwas was seeking relief from an FIR registered against him on April 12 for giving allegedly provocative statements against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in the interviews with the media between February 16 to 19. The complainant, Narinder Singh had complained that Vishwas’ statements could create ‘unrest and communal instability during elections across Punjab’.

Kumar Vishwas in his plea noted that while he gave the concerned statements in February, the complainant mentions the incident allegedly took place on April 12. The police agency got the FIR registered within two hours of the receipt of the complaint and further formed an SIT to investigate the same. Furthermore, he also stated in the plea that the police, without serving the FIR to him, sent a team of Punjab police officers to his residence with the ‘oblique motive to unlawfully violate his fundamental right to liberty.’

Action against Kumar Vishwas

On February 16, in a sensational development amidst the state assembly elections, Kumar Vishwas had highlighted Kejriwal’s compromise for power in Punjab by siding with Khalistani separatists. According to him, Kejriwal at one point had claimed, “Either I will become Chief Minister of the state or I will become first Prime Minister of an independent nation (Khalistan).” Vishwas had alleged that deep-rooted separatism had engulfed Kejriwal’s mind in his quest for power.

After Kumar Vishwas’ expose, AAP leader Raghav Chadha issued a threat to the media saying that AAP would take legal action against the media houses for covering the allegations as posed by Vishwas. The war of words between Dr Kumar Vishwas, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, and AAP leader Raghav Chadha escalated further which led to Punjab police knocking at the doors of Vishwas. Now it is learnt that the case registered against him by the Punjab Police regarding his arrest has been stayed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Gujarat: Ex-AAP leader files defamation suit against other five AAP leaders including state pres Gopal Italia

Ahead of Gujarat state assembly elections, things seem to be not going too well for Aam Aadmi Party. Former Aam Aadmi Party Porbandar District head Keyur Joshi has reportedly sent defamation notice to AAP state party chief Gopal Italia and four other party leaders.

In Porbandar court, a defamation case has been registered against five AAP leaders including Gopal Italia. Joshi has alleged that he was expelled from the party without any notice and prior information. Subsequently, he alleged, that after expelling him, a letter of his was made viral on social media which is why he has now filed a defamation case.

Ex-AAP leader Keyur Joshi expelled from party

On 3rd September 2021, the party had released a press note in which it had stated that 16 AAP leaders were being expelled from the AAP over alleged anti-party activities.

Speaking to OpIndia, Joshi informed that he joined AAP in 2014. Last year, 16 AAP leaders were expelled from party without any prior notice. They were informed only via one WhatsApp message that they are no longer part of the party. When they questioned party leadership, the party issued a press note and accused the expelled leaders of carrying out anti-party activities. However, Joshi said he had never indulged in such activities.

In February 2021, just months ahead of being dumped by party unceremoniously, Joshi had contested Porbandar local civic body polls on AAP ticket.

Keyur Joshi’s election ticket

Joshi further informed OpIndia that he was insulted and wild allegations of anti-party allegations were put on him through a press release because of which he felt extremely humiliated. He said that such allegations has harmed his political prospects and also brought him extreme mental agony.

Further, Joshi informed, that he had also reached out to Gopal Italia but he did not get a satisfactory reply on his expulsion. He added that earlier also AAP had expelled other party leaders via WhatsApp message.

Joshi, who himself is an advocate, said that all these things have brought him a lot of pain and insult and the party’s lack of response triggered him to file a defamation case. Along with AAP Gujarat President Gopal Italia, a case has been filed against Jaydeep Pandya, Tuliben Banerjee and Nimisha Khunt and Gulabsingh Yadav under various sections of the IPC.

Speaking to OpIndia, Keyur Joshi said that he seeks justice in this and has vowed to get it at any cost in this matter.

‘You duped Balasaheb Thackeray because he was gullible, I am shrewd’: Maha CM Uddhav Thackeray warns BJP

On Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a stinging attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the party duped his father Balasaheb Thackeray because he was “gullible.” Uddhav Thackeray warned the BJP that, after seeing them fool the Shiv Sena founder, he was acting “shrewdly” and couldn’t disregard the “games” it was playing in the name of Hindutva.

“It is alleged that the Shiv Sena is not the same which it was during Balasaheb Thackeray’s time. It is right. Balasaheb bhole hote (Balasaheb was gullible),” stated Uddhav Thackeray.

“I have myself seen how you deceived Balasaheb from time to time. Hence, I am behaving a bit shrewdly with you. I am not gullible. He was ignoring the games you played in the guise of Hindutva. But I won’t ignore it,” he further added.

He also made an oblique attack on the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, claiming that he does not pay heed to Hindutva’s “new players.”

Attacking MNS and Raj Thackeray, he said, “I don’t pay attention to such players. People have experienced exactly what games these players play and on what grounds. Sometimes they play the game of Marathi, sometimes of Hindutva? the people of Maharashtra have seen such games.”

Uddhav Thackeray was speaking at an event hosted by the Marathi daily ‘Loksatta.’ Pointing the finger at Raj Thackeray, he stated that if one can be entertained for free, why not enjoy it? “…In the last two years, theatres and cinema halls were shut due to the pandemic. So, if one is getting entertained for free, why shouldn’t he/she enjoy it?” he said.

It is worth noting that Maharashtra Navnirman Sena head Raj Thackeray addressed a public assembly in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, on Sunday. Raj Thackeray called the public gathering after warning the Maharashtra government to remove the loudspeakers from mosques by May 3rd, 2022.

Wokes vs Elon Musk: Why nothing is likely to change and how Twitter may remain a Leftist bastion, despite the right noises by Elon Musk

Many articles have been published about the catastrophic implications of Elon Musk taking over Twitter and RW schadenfreude over pseudo liberals’ “oppari”. English is a poor language, and I simply can’t find a good word to replace the Tamil word “oppari”. Google it. If you believe this nonsense, you will think climate change has been demoted to the No 2 threat in the liberal worldview.

But in life, I have my own first law of media reality – Noise is inversely proportional to the significance of the mater.

Yes, Elon’s takeover of Twitter is likely to change nothing. The rest is drama.

To understand this clearly you must understand a few things.

  1. Twitter’s censorship of news that negatively impacts leftists and their narratives is by no means unique. This disease is more widespread than COVID. There is still Google, Facebook, YouTube, BBC, WaPo, NYT and so on. They will continue to censor and spin, obfuscate, and if necessary lie, to suit their political agendas.
  2. To give but one small example, a recent study showed Google sent most conservative campaign mails to the “spam” folder but allowed Dems to hit the inbox. Is Elon going to buy over Google? (PDF link). How about Wikipedia? Remember their vandalizing pages of Kashmir Files, Dr Sampath and many others using the left’s propaganda handles?
  3. Even within Twitter, the decisions to ban and cover-up Biden family corruption or assign “manipulated media” tags to criticism of looter families in India but allow their outright lies and fake narratives to “pass without let or hinder” (to quote the colonial English bureaucratese in Indian passports), is not the decision of its owners. It is a product of a fascist woke left takeover of social media and big tech. It permeates the entire organization.
  4. Therefore, changing owners won’t change anything unless the entire workforce is purged of leftist malcontents which is impossible and impractical. The outrage will be heard on Mars. Even if it were possible, find replacements from where? Harvard? Cambridge? JNU? See the next point!
  5. To fix the problem of the leftist takeover of media and academics, you must begin at the beginning. A farmer that sowed wheat doesn’t go to his field expecting to harvest rice. According to some studies, barely 10% of US college professors are conservative. In India, the situation is likely to be the same or worse. Colleges, especially the so-called social-science (oxymoron alert) ones, have today become factories that churn out leftist malcontents that go on to infiltrate every occupation where productive and honest work is unwelcome and unnecessary. Like any good pyramid scam, they often end up in academics producing more toxic waste.
  6. In the Indian context, the chance of someone graduating from a madrasah becoming a jihadi is almost zero as compared to the chance of someone from these degree mills turning out supporters of Stalinist mass rapist butcher left ideologies, Islamist violence, enablers of dynastic loot and anti-Hindu hatred as well as serfdom to the despot in Beijing wrapped up as secular and progressive.

Despite all that, to continue to believe that Elon is 21st century Hercules that will clear the Augean stables of muck is to live in a fool’s paradise.

It is thus important to talk about the O’Sullivans Law which tells us that any organization without a strong ideological mooring will eventually lose its way. Anything which is not expressly right will over time become Left.

As discussed, it is nearly impossible for Twitter to become a “right-wing” organization unless the entire staff is purged and Twitter starts recruiting ground up. The moorings of Elon Musk himself may be anti-Woke, if we choose to believe him, however, is by no means “right”. Therefore, the hope that Twitter will suddenly become a right-wing bastion is a pipe dream that we must not pin hopes on.

Moreover, one has to consider that the Indian right-wing’s faith in Elon Musk is widely misplaced. There are several business concerns that might stop Musk from taking the steps he might want to take to transform Twitter. Even though he is the richest man in the world and wields the power that comes with it – those riches come at a cost.

To think that the modern-day P T Barnum and carnival barker will rescue Twitter and restore fair play is to live in delusion. Nothing but heartbreak and disappointment is likely to come out of that.

Why? It’s elementary, my dear Watsons! (By the way, Holmes never said that!)

Elon prospers on government handouts. The EV subsidies, basically state mediated, legal transfer of wealth from poor and middle-class taxpayers to super-rich buyers of such vehicles, who are also, by coincidence, mostly vocally left and woke, have built Musk’s empire, and continue to do so. He will be a fool to give that up. And he isn’t. In fact, even his other businesses like Boring Co and SpaceX depend on generous government contracts. If not, they will die tomorrow.

To assume that Elon Musk will compromise his business interests simply to take on the powerful woke left lobby, which helps him with subsidies, and even advocates them in the name of saving the earth, or some such utopian slogan is nothing short of idiocy.

Elon Musk’s business compulsions are such that he has even pandered to the despotic Chinese government. Now, are we to assume that Elon Musk owned Twitter would use the “manipulated media” tag on anything that the Chinese government tweets out? For him, would that make business sense? How easy would it be for him to, for example, let the Hindus air their grievance while the entire global community is spreading despicable propaganda against them?

Already Modi sarkar is under fire for refusing to shovel more taxpayer dollars into Elon’s coffers. One more ban on a BJP supporter or RW handle, Indian left and brown-nosed (thanks Tharoor) sycophants of fascist dynasties will be dancing in joy, singing his praise. They will be eating out of Elon’s hands. A few thousand to some dubious fundraiser that ends up in Chianti bottles, peanut for Elon, will seal the deal.

Nothing much will change, there will be a lot of shadowboxing, WWF style “knock-outs” and SM versions of screaming girlfriends that rush into the arena and tear each other’s hairs.

Enjoy the drama but don’t be a fool thinking the battle is real.

USA: India condemns move after Connecticut General Assembly recognises Sikh separatist declaration, calls it an illegal act

On Sunday (May 1), the Consulate General of India in New York condemned a citation by the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut (United States), recognising the 36th anniversary of the declaration of Sikh Independence.

In a statement, it said, “This is an attempt by some mischievous elements to use the name of the Assembly for their nefarious purposes. These vested interests seek to divide communities and promote bigotry and hatred. Their agenda of violence has no place in democratic societies like the USA and India.”

“The Embassy of India in Washington DC and the Consulate General of India in New York will take up this issue appropriately with the concerned US lawmakers,” it further added.

The Background of the Controversy

On Friday (April 29), the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut courted controversy by recognising the illegal act of ‘Sikh Independence’ through an official citation.

“Be it hereby known to all: The Connecticut General Assembly offers its sincere congratulations to the World Sikh Parliament in recognition of the 36th anniversary of the declaration of Sikh Independence,” it said in its citation.

The citation added, “We join with you, your friends, and your family in commemorating the historic resolution passed on April 29th, 1986 by the collective Sikh Nation gathering known as ‘Sarbat Khalsa,’ Sikhs Political Centre, situated in the holy city of Amritsar in Punjab.”

The Connecticut General Assembly further emphasised, “The entire membership extends its very best wishes on this memorable occasion and expresses the hope for continued success.”

A video of the event has now surfaced on social media. Surrounded by Sikh seperatists, a Connecticut State Assembly official was seen reading out the contentious citation. Khalistani supporters were seen holding placards that read, ”Sikh Homeland Punjab (Occupied by India)”, “Sikhs for World Peace” and raising slogans of ‘Jo Bole So Nihaal’.

This day in 2011: When a Pakistani Twitter user live-tweeted the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden without knowing what he was doing

On May 2, 2011, the founder of the terrorist organisation Al Qaeda Osama Bin Laden was killed by a Special Operations unit of the United States Military in Abbottabad, Pakistan, at around 1 AM (local time). The operation was supposed to be a secret. However, a Twitter user identified as Sohaib Athar (ReallyVirtual) from Pakistan live-tweeted about a helicopter hovering above the city. The tweets that he did ‘unknowingly’ brought him instant fame. Here is what happened.

At 1:28 AM, Athar posted, “Helicopter hovering above Abbottabad at 1 AM (is a rare event).” This was his first tweet on that day revealing the operation.

Five years down the line, the CIA published a series of Tweets where they detailed how the operation took place as if they were live-tweeting the series of events. According to the CIA, at 10:25 PM PKT, the operation was approved by the US officials. The Helicopters took off at 10:51 PM PKT from Afghanistan.

At 12:30 PKT, the Helicopters reached Abbottabad, and around that time, the locals, including Athar, started to notice something was happening over their city.

Frustrated with the sound, Athar had written, “Go away helicopter – before I take out my giant swatter.”

While Athar was having fun with Twitter, the Special Operation unit had already descendent at the compound where Osama was hiding. Within nine minutes, the compound was raided, and Osama was found and killed.

During that time, the Helicopter kept hovering over the city.

There is some timestamp difference between the tweets by Athar and CIA, but that is understandable. Athar mentioned that he had heard a ‘window-shaking bang’ and feared if it could be the start of ‘something nasty. Little did he know that CIA had killed Osama only a few KMs away from his place.

Later he said, “Since Taliban (probably) don’t have helicopters, and since they’re saying it was not “ours”, so must be a complicated situation #abbottabad.”

In a Tweet, he had mentioned that one of the Helicopters was allegedly shot down. His statement matches the CIA’s tweet where they had mentioned that one of the Helicopters had crashed, but the operation continued.

In the morning, Athar realized what had happened at night. He said in a Tweet, “Uh oh, now I’m the guy who liveblogged the Osama raid without knowing it.”

His little adventure with Twitter on that not-so-uneventful day brought him to the limelight, and he was bombarded with emails, phone calls and interview requests. In a tweet, he said, “Bin Laden is dead. I didn’t kill him. Please let me sleep now.”

Athar mentioned he was unaware of the events and unwittingly live-tweeted about it but had he known what was happening, he would have done it ‘wittingly’. He said, “I apologize for reporting the operation ‘unwittingly/unknowingly’ – had I known about it, I would have tweeted about it ‘wittingly’, I swear.”

The CIA mentioned that the Helicopter that had crashed was destroyed by the armed forces. By 4 AM, then-President Barack Obama was informed about the positive identity of Osama Bin Laden’s body. His remains were thrown into the sea.

IPL: MS Dhoni makes a triumphant return as captain as CSK keep their faint playoffs hope alive with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad

0

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had an awful time of it in the 2022 IPL so far. The defending champions were second from bottom after their first 8 games winning just 2 and losing 6 games. Seemingly out of the playoff spots, Ravindra Jadeja relinquished the captaincy and handed it back to Mr. CSK MS Dhoni. The change seemed to work immediately as a Dhoni-led CSK coasted to a 13 runs victory against Surisers Hyderabad.

Having been put in to bat by Hyderabad, CSK opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway put together the 4th highest opening partnership in the history of the IPL as they scored 182 runs for the first wicket. Ruturaj was caught at backward point for 99 to end the partnership, but the duo had already laid a winning platform for CSK. Eventually, they ended up with 202 for 2 off their 20 overs, with Conway staying unbeaten on 85 off 55 balls.

There was little to cheer for SRH from their bowling contingent but Indian veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded just 22 from his 4 overs and T Natarajan kept things tight in the end to stop CSK from getting to a 220-225 score that they threatened to achieve at one point.

In response, Hyderabad got off to an excellent start through their young gun Abhishek Sharma and captain Kane Williamson reaching 58 in the 6th over. However, CSK’s left-armer Mukesh Choudhary rocked their innings with 2 wickets off successive balls to derail the entire chase.

South African Markram threatened to bring the innings back on track with 2 successive sixes but was dismissed off the very next ball. With the climbing required rate, Williamson succumbed to the pressure as well after scoring 47 off 37 balls. Nicholas Pooran did score an impressive 64 off 33 balls including 24 from the last over, but the game was over well before that.

The result doesn’t change the teams’ position as Hyderabad remains in the 4th spot and Chennai in the 9th spot but this does give a faint chance to Chennai to make the playoffs if they win all their remaining games. CSK will next face Bangalore on Wednesday to try and continue their revival while Hyderabad will face Delhi the next day.

‘Is it an Azaan concert here? Pull these loudspeakers down’: Raj Thackeray addresses mega rally, reiterates May 3 deadline to remove loudspeakers from mosques

On 1st May 2022, the foundation day of the Maharashtra state, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray addressed a public meeting at Aurangabad in Maharashtra. Raj Thackeray had declared this public meeting after he warned the government of Maharashtra to take down the loudspeakers on the mosques before 3rd May 2022, falling to which, he said that, his party workers would play Hanuman Chalisa on speakers in front of mosques with a volume double that of the Azaan.

Recalling the Hindu history of Maharashtra

Raj Thackeray started his speech with his well-known ‘salutation to all the Hindu brothers, sisters and mothers’. At the very beginning of his speech, he took his critics head-on. He said, “This is not about just Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad). All my next public meetings will be lined up in the Marathwada region. Then I will go to Vidarbha. I will also address the public meetings in Konkan, Khandesh, and western Maharashtra region.”

Raj Thackeray said, “Khadki is the original name of Sambhaji Nagar. Both our capitals are from here. One was Devgiri (of Yadavas) and the other is very near here, Paithan (of Satavahanas). We must not forget our history. I repeat what I had said earlier. The people who forget their history don’t have any geography left.”

At this juncture, there was some ruckus in the public meeting. Looking at this, Raj Thackeray said, “If someone does anything unsolicited, beat him at the very place. This is an MNS rally. If someone tries to disturb us, we will make a tripod of him.” Citing that the defeat of Devgiri was an inside job and that Alauddin Khilji secured the victory with an army much smaller army than one lakh as it was rumored, Raj Thackeray said that ‘one lakh army of Khilji’ was the first fake news in Maharashtra. He later praised Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, and gave a brief account of the great Maratha empire that went on to win Attak which is now in Pakistan near Peshawar. Citing Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar he said that the day a ghost called Shivaji grabs our minds, we will win the world.

Criticism of contemporary caste politics by NCP

Raj Thackeray said, “What kind of politics is going on here? Maharashtra gave certain thoughts to the nation. We gave socialism, we helped Buddhism to spread, communists were also here and Hindutva too. And political leaders use abusive language. Are we going to put this ideal before our kids? Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party stirred poison in people’s minds for the sake of his electoral benefits. This venom is injected into the kids going to school and college.”

He further said, “Sharad Pawar is an atheist. His photos while praying to gods and doing puja rituals were made viral after my speech. Don’t do drama, don’t act. Your own daughter said in parliament that her father is an atheist. Sharad Pawar asked me to read books by my grandfather Prabodhankar Keshav Seetaram Thackeray. I have read him thoroughly. But all Sharad Pawar does is cherry-pick. Sharad Pawar quotes my grandfather only when his quotes suit the caste politics of Sharad Pawar. My grandfather was a Hindu. He was not against Dharma but he was for social reforms needed in those days in Dharma. His writings have the contexts of those times.”

Slamming NCP and its caste politics, Raj Thackeray said, “These NCP people divided Maharashtra in caste politics over a book written by James Lane about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. They (NCP people) say that the British writer wrote false and derogatory things about respected Shivaji Maharaj and it was Shiv Shahir Babasaheb Purandare, a Brahmin, who gave such information to that writer. Sharad Pawar was in power for so many years. He was a union minister. Why didn’t he drag that writer to India? Why didn’t he ask him? Here is India Today’s interview of that writer James Lane. In this interview, he clearly said that Babasaheb Puranadare did not provide me with any information and I never talked to him. I have written stories that I knew from various other sources. I did not write history.”

Raj Thackeray further asked Sharad Pawar, “Why did you set Brahmins and Marathas in the state on a fight? Was Ramdas Swami Shivaji Maharaj’s guru or was it Saint Tukaram is not an issue. All of them were great. But are we going to see them with a caste lens? Will Ramdas Swami be seen as a Brahmin? Will Lokmanya Tilak who built Shivaji Maharaj’s Samadhi be seen as a Brahmin while the name of his first newspaper was Maratha? This caste politics will not be tolerated in Maharashtra anymore.”

Raj Thackeray also said that the recent public meetings of NCP are seen by people. “People of Maharashtra know what that Amol Mitkari has said about our Dharma. Even NCP president Sharad Pawar used to mention that this is Maharashtra is of Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar. Yes, I too say that it is their Maharashtra, but before them, it is of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It seems that Sharad Pawar has an allergy to the word Hindu. It is only after my criticism that the NCP people are putting an idol of Shivaji Maharaj on their stage. Before that, they didn’t even put a picture of him on stage. They just take his name to mislead our Maratha brothers and sisters.”

Loudspeakers and Hanuman Chalisa

When MNS workers in the audience urged him for speaking about loudspeakers and Hanuman Chalisa, he said, “Yes, I am coming to that point. It is not now that I am speaking on this issue. I have spoken about it much earlier. Many others have talked about it too. All I have done is I gave an alternate solution to the problem. I don’t want riots in Maharashtra. I have neither intention nor any urge to disturb the harmonious nature of our state Maharashtra. But, if Uttar Pradesh can remove the loudspeakers, so can Maharashtra. Whatever you want to recite, do it inside your mosques. I repeat, the loudspeaker is a social issue, not a religious one. But, if you give a religious turn to this issue, we will have to answer it by our Dharma only. Don’t force us to take a harsh stand when we are actually not willing to take one.”

He further said, “All the loudspeakers are illegal. That machine needs permission from the local police station which none of the mosques has taken. Here, in Sambhaji Nagar, there are 600 mosques. All have loudspeakers. So is it an Azaan concert here? And so is the thing with the country. This is everywhere. Why should we suffer every time? You offer Namaz on the streets. Who gave you this right? I humbly request the government and the administration. Today is 1st May. Tomorrow is 2nd May. The day after that is the 3rd of May and Eid. I have nothing to do with their festival. I don’t want to disturb the festival. But I will not listen to you from the 4th of May. I request all Hindus, put on Hanuman Chalisa on speakers with double the volume of Azaan right in front of mosques. Loudspeaker doesn’t even fit into your religion.”

Somebody signaled him that Azaan may soon start in a nearby mosque. At that time Raj Thackeray said, “I request the police of Sambhaji Nagar, wherever it is starting, turn it off right now. And if they don’t listen to the things told in a rightful manner, then I even don’t know what will be its consequences. Whosoever is the police officer, I request him to immediately switch off that loudspeaker. And if they don’t understand my requests, then let the things happen in whatever way they could take place. None of us should keep quiet. Wed will show them the power in the arms of Maharashtra. I request all Hindus in the country. Don’t give it a second thought. Pull these loudspeakers down. Pull the loudspeakers from all the religious places down. Yes, we will take down the loudspeakers from temples too, but only after taking them off from all these mosques. It is now or never. If these people don’t stop, take permission from police and start Hanuman Chalisa and solve this social issue for once and all.”

Significance of the venue chosen by Raj Thackeray

It is notable that the public meeting organized amidst the ongoing Azaan row in Maharashtra was held at the Marathwada Sanskrutik Mandal’s ground in Aurangabad where Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray had held such huge public meetings in the past. He had held a thanksgiving public meeting here after the people of Aurangabad voted Shiv Sena to power in the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation which was newly formed then. Balasaheb Thackeray had thanked the public with a ‘Sashtang Namaskar’ on the stage. Therefore, Hindus in Aurangabad have a special connection with this ground.

Aerial view of the Marathwada Sanskrutik Mandal’s ground in Aurangabad where the MNS public meeting was held. Image Source: ABP Majha

The ground has been a center for many Hindu-centric incidents in the political history of the city which is considered to be the tourism capital of the state and the main city driving the Marathwada region. The ground is just in front of the Khadakeshwar Mahadev temple which is the Gram Daivat of Khadki, that is, Aurangabad. Gulmandi in Aurangabad holds the same importance for Shiv Sena as Dadar does in Mumbai. Raj Thackeray’s public meeting place is not so far from this area.

Local MNS workers presented idols of Lord Shri Ram to Raj Thackeray. But, at the same time, Raj Thackeray did not forget to display that despite taking up the Hindutva issue, he has not forgotten his pro-Marathi agenda. In this public meeting, a poster of a film based on the life of Maharashtra Shahir Krushnarao Sable. The film will be directed by well-known Marathi film director Kedar Shinde and Marathi actor Ankush Choudhari will play the role of Shahir Sable. Shahir Sable is known as one of the important Marathi folk poets who triggered the United Maharashtra movement in 1956.

Gorakhnath temple attacker: Was ‘mental illness’ a well-planned alibi for a committed Jihadi

It was not very long ago that I sat on a cold Sunday afternoon and read the book by Robert Verkaik, that detailed the life of Mohammed Emwazi – the most feared ISIS terrorist, the executioner famously known as Jihadi John. While reading the book, one would imagine the revelations resulting in shock and awe, after all, this was barbarity that the world had previously closed its eyes to. However, that is not the impact it had on the world.

Every page of the book, every event, and every witness testimony was more evidence that the patterns of Jihadi activity have remained the same over the centuries with only the organizations evolving. In the book, the author (who is a journalist) details how his peers and friends never suspected that Mohammed could be a terrorist or that he even had the tendency to unleash the kind of brutality that he did after joining ISIS. They said he hardly went to the mosque, was not very religious, and kept to himself most of the time.

His friends said that the first glimpse of his possibly extremist views was during a class 9 lecture on the Nazi genocide. He had reportedly muttered under his breath that the Jews deserved it. While his friends thought he was joking, Mohammed later told his friends that he meant it and that he hated Jews, whom he blamed for the plight of Muslims. The friend later revealed that if they ever walked past a house Mohammed thought was owned by a jew, he would simply shout obscenities, calling them “fucking pigs”.

Jihadi John became a phenomenon. The world knew his name. The world knew the horrors he was capable of and the horrors he inflicted on unsuspecting Kafirs. But was he alone? Was he the only one? If one has to be brutally honest, India sees and documents Jihadi Johns almost on a daily basis. Every day, we hear and report the brutality that Islamists are capable of and how Hindus are victimized. Their temples attacked. Their symbols of faith, desecrated. Their lives snuffed.

While we can cite thousands of examples, one recent incident in Uttar Pradesh deserves a special mention, given how the corporate English media simply glossed over the seriousness of what the investigators were unearthing, almost on a daily basis.

Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, on the 3rd of April 2022, screamed Allahu Akbar and tried to enter the Gorakhnath Temple. Wielding a knife that he intended to use, Abbasi injured two cops in the tussle that followed. Several revelations came to the fore after he was apprehended and an investigation was launched. The most recent revelation is that Abbasi had taken an oath of allegiance to ISIS. Abbasi was active on all social media accounts – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Telegram, and so on and so forth and through these accounts, he was in touch with ISIS terrorists. He was also in touch with Mehandi Masood Vishwas who was arrested by the Bangalore police in 2014. From the bank accounts of the accused, 8.5 lakh Indian rupees were sent to different countries in Europe and America to help the terrorist activities of ISIS that it carries out through its supporters. With an intent to execute terrorist activities, the accused used to read the online articles and watch the videos on the internet related to weapons like the AK-47 rifle, M4 Carbine, and missile technology.

Since 2013, Abbasi was involved with ISIS, therefore, by all accounts, he is a hardened terrorist who was merely looking for the right opportunity to unleash Jihad on Kafirs.

But what was the narrative in the media? Firstly, the corporate English media has hardly discussed this case with the seriousness it deserves. Those who did tried their best to allege that Abbasi was actually not a terrorist but merely mentally unstable. His father asserted the same, rather vehemently. Later, a doctor confirmed that Abbasi was mentally fit and there was no sign that he was unstable.

But did we really need a doctor to ascertain that fact? I mean, let’s face it. If someone is willing to blow himself up in the name of God, he has got to be mentally unstable to some extent. But medically, can we say that he was following the word of God because he was of unsound mind? Abbasi was planning to make an app to help ISIS Jihadis. He was an IIT graduate, a fact that was screamed from the rooftops by NDTV and had worked with major conglomerates like Reliance Industries and Essar Petrochemicals.

He had maintained communication with ISIS since 2013, had taken an oath of allegiance, and had meticulously planned how he wants to contribute to Jihad. He had, according to the police, also donated upwards of Rs 8.5 lakhs to ISIS. Can someone of an unsound mind earn enough to donate Rs 8.5 lakh? Can they work on an app? Can they sustain communication over years, actually, close to a decade? Can they show the commitment to sustain his allegiance to a cause, no matter how violent?

The answer is pretty obvious save for those who wish to whitewash Jihadi activity.

In fact, given that the mental illness trope came from his father, we cannot rule out the possibility that it was a carefully crafted ruse to save Abbasi after he unleashes violence against Kafirs. We have seen the complicity of family members and logically speaking, it is a little bit of a stretch to assume that the family had no idea about Abbasi’s leanings.

I started this article by talking about Jihadi John and how nobody, his friends mainly cited in the book, suspected that he could be a barbaric executioner for ISIS. However, it is a known fact that Mohammed Emwazi’s mother knew that it was him who was Jihadi John. Let us also not forget that Osama Bin Laden’s daughters wrote all his public statements. And the family of Abbasi were no fools. He was from a well-to-do family who sent him to a premier institution and was doing pretty well for themselves. According to reports, his father was the legal advisor to several big companies and his uncle was an accomplished doctor who owned a hospital.

There are several resources available that indicate to parents how they can identify if their children are radical Jihadis. They will isolate themselves, talk in terms of a scripted speech, get angry at what is going on around them, talk about perceived injustice and how Muslims are being wronged, and so on and so forth. Are we to assume that Abbasi never spoke about his hatred for Kafirs in front of his family? Or that they never discussed how Muslims are being wronged and how ISIS is providing a promised, sacred land for Muslims? Think about it, is it really possible that the parents did not know? Is it really possible that his educated, accomplished family did not realize or endorse what Abbasi was up to?

It is foolish to assume that the family of a Jihadi was not as radicalized as the Jihadi himself until we have evidence to prove that they were innocent. It sounds brutal and almost ill-mannered to assume that the family must be held culpable for what their son did, but we also need to understand that these are not normal problematic traits that kids may develop over time. This is a life decision that the family ought to know about.

It is therefore hardly surprising that the father would peddle the ‘he is mentally unstable’ trope to try and save his son. I would not be surprised if this was a coached response either, though we have no evidence to support that theory. What is troubling, however, is how willing the media is to peddle excuses for Jihadis and their wet dreams of world dominion.

It is a rather convenient excuse to say that the Jihadi was mentally unstable as if he was turned into a radical Jihadi without his explicit consent. The aim of peddling such nonsense is often rather simple, so simple in fact, that it almost escapes our attention. The moment you say that a man was mentally unstable, the immediate assumption of the public is that he was lured and deceived into becoming a Jihadi – that he is actually not a dangerous man, but a misguided one.

His accomplished father went as far as to say that he harbored thoughts of suicide and he could have gone to the Gorakhnath temple to do just that. Normal people, as sad as it is, commit suicide by hanging themselves or slitting their wrists. They don’t exactly make a calculated decision to travel to a temple, shouting Allahu Akbar (after being in touch with a terrorist organization for years) and then trying to blow themselves up.

The family, the probably complicit family of Abbasi, and the media want the world to dismiss this as just another mentally unstable, educated boy indulging in some ill-advised conduct, but the truth is far from it. Abbasi seems to be our very own Jihadi John, just like the several hundred we document on a daily basis.

Maharashtra: An angry Raj Thackeray slams Sharad Pawar during his Aurangabad rally for caste politics in the state

On the foundation day of Maharashtra on the 1st of May 2022, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)chief Raj Thackeray tore into NCP chief Sharad Pawar while addressing a public meeting at Aurangabad in Maharashtra. During his public meeting, he slammed NCP president Sharad Pawar for introducing venomous caste politics in Maharashtra.

Addressing the meeting, Raj Thackeray said, “What kind of politics is going on here? Maharashtra gave certain thoughts to the nation. We gave socialism, we helped Buddhism to spread, communists were also here and Hindutva too. And now political leaders use abusive language. Are we going to put this ideal before our kids? Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party stirred poison in people’s minds for the sake of his electoral benefits. This venom is injected into the kids going to school and college.”

Attacking Sharad Pawar over his religious photo-ops, the MNS chief said, “Sharad Pawar is an atheist. His photos while praying to gods and doing puja rituals were made viral after my speech. Don’t do drama, don’t act. Your own daughter said in parliament that her father is an atheist. Do I need to give any separate proof?”

Furthermore, Raj Thackeray said, “Sharad Pawar asked me to read books by my grandfather Prabodhankar Keshav Seetaram Thackeray. I have read them thoroughly, but all Sharad Pawar does is cherry-pick. Sharad Pawar quotes my grandfather only when his quotes suit the caste politics of Sharad Pawar. My grandfather was a Hindu. He was not against Dharma but he was for social reforms needed in those days of Dharma. His writings were in the context of those times.”

Continuing his attack on Sharad Pawar and his party, Thackeray said, “These NCP people divided Maharashtra along caste lines over a book written by James Lane about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. They (NCP people) say that the British writer wrote false and derogatory things about respected Shivaji Maharaj and it was Shiv Shahir Babasaheb Purandare, a Brahmin, who gave such information to that writer. Sharad Pawar was in power for so many years, he was a union minister, why didn’t he drag that writer to India? Why didn’t he ask him? Here is India Today’s interview of that writer James Lane. In this interview, he clearly said that Babasaheb Puranadare did not provide him with any information and he never talked to him. He said he has written stories that he knew from various other sources, he did not write history.”

Raj Thackeray further asked Sharad Pawar, “Why did you set Brahmins and Marathas in the state on the path of a fight? Was Ramdas Swami Shivaji Maharaj’s guru or was it Saint Tukaram is not an issue, all of them were great.

Raj Thackeray also said that the recent public meetings of NCP have been noticed by the people. “People of Maharashtra know what that Amol Mitkari has said about our Dharma. Even NCP president Sharad Pawar used to mention that this is Maharashtra of Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar.

Raj Thackeray has been on a warpath with the ruling Maha Vikas Agadi alliance, of which Sharad Pawar’s NCP is the major partner, in recent days over the issue of loudspeakers in mosques, and the deadline he gave to the government expires on the upcoming Eid.
