Acquittal of Bishop Franco Mulakkal: Kerala cop, who investigated the case, calls verdict ‘shocking’, former HC judge says ‘miscarriage of justice’

Many people, directly or indirectly linked to the case, are not too pleased with the Kerala Court’s verdict to acquit Bishop Franco Mulakkal of the Catholic Church in the nun rape case. The Kerala police officer who headed the investigation against the Bishop called the decision of the Kottayam Additional Sessions Court ‘shocking’. Rueing that the police probe built a water-tight case against Bishop Franco Mulakkal, Former Kottayam SP Harishankar called the verdict as “extremely unfortunate.”

A teary-eyed Sister Anupama, who had spearheaded the protests against Bishop Franco Mulakkal, told media after the verdict: “We cannot believe this verdict. We will continue this fight until the day our fellow sister gets justice, even if it means we have to die. All the testimonies were in our favour so we don’t know what happened in court. We will definitely appeal in the higher court.”

Bishop Franco Mulakkal of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jalandhar was accused of raping a 44-year-old nun at a guest house in Kuravilangad in May 2014 and subsequent sexual exploitations afterwards.

Further expressing disbelief at the Kottayam Additional Sessions Court’s verdict to set the former Jalandhar Bishop of the Catholic Church free from rape charges, Former Karnataka HC Judge Justice Michael Francis Saldanha told the Republic TV: “This is a miscarriage of justice and it’s intolerable.”

“I am absolutely shocked and horrified because I had the opportunity to look at the case and a good amount of evidence and one of the reasons why I cannot accept this decision is because he had gone to the High Court during the investigation and asked to quash the complaint. The HC had said that there is absolutely no doubt about the evidence and charges, against that he carried the matter to Supreme Court. The High Court has seen the case and in my mind, there was absolutely zero possibility for him to get acquitted. I think the High Court must intervene in the matter and re-examine the case. This is globally shocking,” stated Michael Francis Saldanha.

The Kerala court’s 289-page verdict acquitting Bishop Franco Mulakkal from rape charges

It may be noted that the court on Friday acquitted Roman Catholic Bishop Franco Mulakkal of allegations of raping a nun in a convent, citing a variety of factors, including the victim’s conflicting version of events and the prosecution’s lack of corroborative evidence.

“This is a case in which the grain and chaff are inextricably mixed up. It is impossible to separate the grain from the chaff. There are exaggerations and embellishments in the version of the victim. She has also made every attempt to hide certain facts. It is also evident that the victim was swayed under the influence of others who had other vested interest in the matter,” the Kottayam Additional Sessions Judge G Gopakumar had written in his 289-page order, that was made available only by Friday night.

Interestingly, on Friday morning, judge G Gopakumar had pronounced the verdict and cleared the Bishop of the rape charges with a single-liner “not guilty”.

The case against the Bishop was described in the order as a matter of nuns’ infighting, rivalry, and group disputes, as well as a desire for power, status, and control over the congregation.

Judge Gopakumar stated in the order: “when it is not feasible to separate truth from falsehood, when grain and chaff are inextricably mixed up, the only available course is to discard the evidence in toto”.

It further read, “It is true that the hymen of the victim was found torn in her medical examination. But defence contends that there was a complaint against the victim, by her own cousin that she had indulged in sexual intercourse with her husband.

“Even if it is assumed that the complaint was a false complaint, from the mere fact that the victim’s hymen was found torn, penile penetration or forceful sexual intercourse cannot be inferred.”

The court noted that the victim’s statements were inconsistent, and hence “she cannot be classified as a sterling witness or a wholly reliable witness.”

“In the said circumstances, this court is unable to place reliance on the solitary testimony of PW1 (victim) and to hold the accused guilty of the offences charged against him,” the court said in its order acquitting Mulakkal of the offences under various sections of the IPC.

NCW asks victim to approach High Court

Expressing shock at the verdict, Rekha Sharma, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women had also said that the victim nun must appeal to the High Court. “The Victim Nun must go to the high court. National Commission for Women is with her in this fight for justice”, she tweeted.

According to the reports, the Kuravilangad Police in 2018 had registered a case on the basis of a complaint filed by a nun against Bishop Franco Mulakkal of Jalandhar Diocese. According to the complaint the nun was raped several times by the bishop at Missionaries of Jesus convent between 2014 and 2016.

In September 2018, the Bishop was arrested for interrogation and was remanded to judicial custody. According to the nuns who stood in support of the victim, several such complaints against the Bishop were overlooked by the authorities. Sister Lucy Kalapura, one of the protester nuns also was permanently expelled from the Church.

The Bishop had then denied the charges as he called the complaint by nun baseless and formulated until the Kerala High Court in 2020 ruled that he must face trial in the case.

Pakistan picks up tweet by Rahul Gandhi where he casts aspersions on India’s handling of COVID based on a ‘The Wire’ interview

Pakistan has once again picked up exaggerated lies peddled by Rahul Gandhi to attack the government over its efforts to handle the Covid situation in the country. Pakistan’s state broadcaster PTV recently shared Rahul Gandhi’s Tweet with a caption: “Indian Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi tweets regarding what expert in video calls “vast COVID-19 deaths under-reporting in India.”

Rahul Gandhi, in keeping with his propensity of attacking the Modi government at every opportunity, had today, taken to his official Twitter account to share an interview of Prof Prabhat Jha with Karan Thapar for the leftist propaganda media outlet- The Wire. The Gandhi scion captioned his Tweet: “GOI lies. World knows. India suffers.”

Here, Rahul Gandhi shared a snippet from the interview where Prabhat Jha, the founding Director of the Centre for Global Health Research at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada is heard casting aspersions on India’s handling of COVID. Without providing any substantial evidence, the professor is heard frivolously claiming that WHO doesn’t trust India’s COVID-19 death count is because the undercounting in India is substantially greater than in other countries.

Interestingly, The Wire is peddling an interview where it is being said that WHO does not trust India’s numbers, on the anniversary of the day when WHO had, in 2020, declared that COVID does not transmit human to human.

WHO had chosen to peddle the lies furthered by China to obfuscate the origins of COVID and the extent of the pandemic and on the 14th of January, reiterated the false claim by China that COVID does not spread from human to human contact.

It’s no surprise that Rahul Gandhi was once again seen casting aspersions at India’s handling of the COVID situation. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi ran massive propaganda against India’s Covid-19 vaccination drive. OpIndia penned down a list of misinformation Rahul Gandhi had peddled in the last few months to score a political point against the centre over its vaccination campaign.

Of course, Pakistan, which is always quick to pick up on Congress’ propaganda in order to malign India, lapped up the rampant falsehoods disseminated by the leftist media outlet ‘The Wire’ and effectively endorsed by the Gandhi scion.

This is not the first time that Pakistan has picked up the lies spread by Rahul Gandhi to attack India. Parroting the same sentiments as the Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi, Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan had also pinned the blame of the Delhi anti-CAA riots and farmers’ protest on the RSS/BJP ideology.

It is notable here that Imran Khan’s party and Rahul Gandhi’s party have been picking ideas from each other and repeating statements of each other. We at OpIndia had even prepared a list of the instances where they just parroted each other.

Protests grow against Congress’ apathy towards Alwar rape incident as Priyanka Gandhi Vadra holidays in Ranthambore for her birthday

Amidst the growing protests over the deafening silence of the senior Congress party leaders over the horrific rape of the specially-abled girl at the Tijara flyover in Alwar, Rajasthan, BJP Rajasthan has shared a video in which protestors are seen demanding justice for the victim from Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary and UP in-charge. In the 0.43 second video, a girl is seen urging the Rajasthan police to allow them to meet Priyanka Gandhi, who is reportedly holidaying and celebrating her birthday in Rajasthan.

The girl confronts the police for manhandling them as they tried to meet Priyanka Gandhi to seek justice for the specially-abled minor girl who was found abandoned at the Tijara flyover in Alwar, Rajasthan. Amidst slogans of “Priyanka Gandhi give justice”, “hang the accused” and slogans against the ruling Congress govt in Rajasthan, the girl tells the police officer how they were forced aside from the gates as they went to meet Priyanka Gandhi with their grievances.

Besides, other videos have also surfaced, where several protesters on Thursday reached outside the hotel in Rajasthan where Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi was staying for her birthday and raised slogans including ‘stop the torture against women’ and ‘who is against women- Congress party’ in Hindi.

At Jaipur’s Statue Circle, members of the Rajasthan Association of the Deaf have also been staging a protest against the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan. They expressed their outrage over the minor girl’s rape in Alwar. Using sign language, the protestors demanded justice and requested the government to compensate the victim’s family.

Meanwhile, questioning the Congress government’s apathy towards the Alwar rape victim, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra slammed the grand old party saying that the incident exposes the opposition party’s hypocrisy in talking about women empowerment in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh.

Patra alleged that as soon as BJP leaders learned of the horrible incident, they raced to meet Priyanka Gandhi, but were denied access because the Congress politician was busy celebrating her birthday.

“This selective politics of yours does not suit,” Patra said, when asked why Congress leaders did not attend to see the victim in the hospital.

Earlier in the day, Rajasthan WCD Minister Mamta Bhupesh reacted to the tragic incident by saying: “Govt alone can’t stop such incidents. A collective resolve is needed in society. Such persons don’t come from outside. Darindon ko koi tilak nahi laga hai.”

It may be noted that it has been three days since the specially-abled minor girl was found abandoned at Tijara flyover in Alwar, Rajasthan, the accused are, however, still at large.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been holidaying with her husband and family in Ranthambore in Sawai Madhopur. They are staying at Hotel Sher Bagh here. Officials said that Priyanka’s birthday is on January 12 and she will celebrate her birthday with family in Ranthambore.

Kerala: ExMuslims outfit declares 9 January as ExMuslim day, assure protection to Muslims who quit Islam

0

To protect the basic rights and dignity of the people who quit Islam, the ExMuslims of Kerala have decided to celebrate January 9 as Kerala ExMuslim Day every year. This is exactly a year after the debate between M M Akbar, an Islamic Dawah propagandist, and E A Jabbar, a freethinker and critic of Islam, in Malappuram that resulted in Muslim people realising the cruelty of Islam.

According to the reports, the debate that was organised on January 9 last year in Malappuram city of Kerala, made a majority of the Muslims in the state understand the ferocity and barbarism posed by Islam. ExMuslims of Kerala is first of its kind organisation that helps and protects all those people who quit Islam and retain to survive without any religion.

The official website of the ExMuslims of Kerala mentions that Muslims who publicly denounce Islam or quit the religion, face severe threats from the community. They are physically and mentally tortured and have to face ostracism with regard to their social existence.

The organisation, in its official statement, has said that it also legally supports all those Muslims who are forced to give up their basic human rights in the name of religious traditions or practices. ExMuslims of Kerala is a team of Muslim intellectuals led by Liyakkathali, the President and Jasla Madasserry, the Vice President.

Motivations for leaving Islam

The 2007 Khalil Bilici study named ‘Conversion Out of Islam- A Study of Conversion Narratives of Former Muslims’ stated that motivations for leaving Islam can be broadly classified into two categories, namely ideological motivations and social motivations. The first group would find religion to be naive and irrational, whereas the second group emphasizes the constraints and breaches of human rights of individuals negatively affecting their progress.

According to the study, some of the Muslims find Islam illogical and prefer to quit the religion following the subordinate status of women, contradictions in Sharia, problematic nature of the Quran, character of the Islamic prophet and other reasons. They also complain about the unnecessary, strict rules put up by Islam on its people and the dubious historicity of the Quran and Hadith.

Most of Muslims who quit Islam are exposed to severe threats by the community and become either atheists or Christians, the study adds.

Instance of persecution and breach of human rights

In August 2021, an ex-Muslim from Kerala named Abdul Khader Puthiyandadi was arrested without bail for criticising Quran and Hadith by the United Arab Emirates. He was charged on the grounds of the blasphemy law. Reports mention that Puthiyandadi used to release YouTube videos and blogs regarding the increasing Islamist terrorist plots in Kerala.

He had, long back, explained to the people of Kerala that the Islamists wanted to dismantle the secular structure of the state. He also had warned about the secret Islamist terrorist cells in Kerala that are channelled through international terrorist networks. The provoked groups had then threatened him to stop speaking out against Islam.

The ExMuslim movement

The formation of ExMuslims of Kerala is a part of the social movement ‘the ExMuslim movement’ who seek to normalize religious dissent and leaving of Islam and support others who have done so or are in the process of leaving by linking them to support networks. Reports mention that an unorganized ex-Muslim movement started to emerge in India in the 21st century, typically among the well-educated Muslim youth in urban areas.

ExMuslims of Kerala conduct several discussions on Islam and Atheism on social media and also conduct public debates with Islamic scholars. Meanwhile, a Muslim scholarly organization from Kerala named Samastha conducts special programs to counter increasing atheism among Muslim youth.

According to the data revealed by the Pew Research Centre, about 100,000 Muslims abandon Islam each year and roughly the same number convert to Islam every year. 55% of the Muslims who quit Islam prefer to follow no religion while 22% specifically adopt to become Christians.

Studies suggest COVAXIN booster dose highly effective against Omicron and Delta variant: Details

0

Bharat Biotech, the developer of Covaxin, said in a statement that booster doses of the vaccine provide strong neutralizing antibody responses against both the Omicron (B.1.529) and Delta (B.1.617.2) coronavirus variants. According to the findings of the tests, 100% of the serum samples showed neutralization of the Delta variant and more than 90% of the serum samples showed neutralization of the Omicron variant, as said by Bharat Biotech.

Previously, investigations showed that Covaxin (BBV152) might neutralize SARS-CoV-2 strains of Concern Alpha, Beta, Delta, Zeta, and Kappa.

Bharat Biotech released a statement saying that an Emory University study found that a booster dose of its Covaxin administered six months after the first two doses can inactivate the coronavirus’s Omicron and Delta variants. According to an official statement made by the biopharmaceutical company, the new study will be published soon on the pre-print server medRXiv.

Dr Krishna Ella, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech, said in a press release, “These trial results provide a strong foundation towards our goal to provide COVAXIN® as a booster dose. Our goal of developing a global vaccine against COVID-19 have been achieved. COVAXIN® is now indicated for adults, children, 2 dose primary and booster doses. This enables the use of COVAXIN® as a universal vaccine.”

“Furthermore, Neutralising antibodies against homologous and heterologous SARS-CoV-2 variants increased 19 to 265-fold after a third vaccination. Booster BBV152 vaccination is safe and may be necessary to ensure persistent immunity to prevent breakthrough infections.” the press statement added.

The Drugs Controller General of India authorized emergency usage of Covaxin for children aged 12 to 18 in December of last year. It is made in such a way that the same dose may be given to both adults and children. Also, it is a ready-to-use liquid vaccine with a 12-month shelf life and a multi-dose vial policy that may be kept at 2-8°C.

This news comes after Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla indicated that two vaccine doses of Pfizer provide little protection if any, whereas three doses with a booster provide considerable protection against hospitalization and death but less protection against infection.

It is worth noting that, while Pfizer plans to release a new vaccine for the Omicron variant in March, research demonstrating Covaxin’s effectiveness against the Omicron and Delta variants can be extremely beneficial in these trying times.

Gandhi’s last protest: How he blackmailed India into giving 55 cr to Pakistan, dragged Hindu, Sikh refugees seeking shelter in mosques to die in cold

Gandhi’s last protest is what the year 1947-48 should be remembered for, alongside India’s partition. No doubt the year is remembered for India’s so-called independence. It is also the same year when the so-called visionary leader of the so-called newborn nation envisioned a ‘Tryst with destiny’ in his speech at the stroke of the midnight hour even though countless of his fellow countrymen were being slaughtered for their religion. The year is also remembered for Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination that took place on 30th January 1948 in the evening at Delhi. But seldom do we talk about the horrifying massacre of lakhs of people that this ancient civilization witnessed in the same years.

Gandhi’s assassination has been marked as the so-called first act of terrorism in independent India but hardly anyone talks of the terrors faced by Chitpavan Brahmins in Maharashtra immediately after Gandhi’s murder. Maharashtrian Brahmins were killed in large numbers, their slaughter justified as ‘revenge’ for Gandhi’s murder, their houses were burnt and they were made to leave the villages and get refuge in the crowds of cities which were already burning with the Hindu-Muslim riots that had taken place due to partition.

Mahatma Gandhi’s last fast in January 1948: Know what were his demands

Throughout his tenure of leading the freedom movement, Gandhi had been very confidently using a lethal weapon called ‘fast’. Interestingly, the weapon was rather lethal in acting against India’s best interests. Besides, it was very useful even to persuade somebody as practical as Babasaheb Ambedkar. Gandhi had observed fasts multiple times before for the so-called Hindu-Muslim unity. In January 1948, he did it again.

During the partition, Gandhi was in Bengal. He reached Delhi in September 9, 1947, and termed the Indian capital city as ‘city of corpses’. In January 1948, when Pakistan was causing brutal attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Gandhi started getting worried for Pakistan and the Muslims of Delhi.

Gandhi said that Muslims are not safe in Delhi. Meeting Maulana Azad, he laid down some conditions to break his fast. He demanded that the annual fair (Urs) should be organized peacefully at Khwaja Bakhtiyar Dargah of Mehrauli. He also demanded that the 100 mosques in Delhi that have been converted into refugee camps – be brought back to their former status.

Apart from this, he had other demands too. Arrangements should be made for the free movement of Muslims in Old Delhi. Non-Muslims should not object to Muslims returning from Pakistan. Muslims should travel fearlessly in trains. Economic boycott of Muslims should not be done. And Hindu refugees should be settled in the territory of Muslims only if they get permission from Muslims.

According to historians like Ramachandra Guha, Mahatma Gandhi also ‘knew’ that the capital of the country is defined by the Muslims, and the artefacts, literature, music, and even medical science there has the impression of Muslims. He reached Delhi in September 1947 and preached to Hindus that they should allow Muslims to live as equal citizens, not as slaves. He talked about going to Pakistan and sacrificing his life there for Hindus and Sikhs, but it did not happen.

Mahatma Gandhi used to ask Hindus, “Will you destroy 4 crores of Muslims?” Strangely, while addressing a Congress program held in November 1947, Mahatma Gandhi said that neither India belongs to Hindus only nor Pakistan belongs to Muslims only. This was a strange contradiction to reality because the partition of India had happened on the basis of religion and Pakistan was born on the basis of Islam itself, declaring it as a country of Muslims. He claimed that Muslim shops have been removed from Chandni Chowk and 130 mosques have been vandalized in Delhi. On January 12, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi announced a fast unto death from the next day.

Mahatma Gandhi was also annoyed that why India was no longer giving Pakistan ‘its share of the money.’ Mahatma Gandhi started his fast unto death on 13 January 1948 at 11:15 which was the last fast of his life. Victim Hindus were also protesting outside. Slogans were being raised against Mahatma Gandhi. It was announced on 15 January that Mahatma Gandhi’s fast unto death is for the minorities of both India and Pakistan.

Refugee Hindus were shivering on the road, but Gandhi was concerned about Muslims

Gandhi’s emotional blackmail worked and the then Government of India agreed to give Rs 55 crores to Pakistan. Mahatma Gandhi ended his fast on 18 January 1948. Before that, after meeting Dr Rajendra Prasad, leaders of all religions had promised that nothing would happen to Muslims in Delhi. The Nehru government somehow wanted to end this fast, and it succeeded in the purpose. Mahatma Gandhi said that this was his biggest fast. Before that, he had also fasted against ‘violence in the name of nationalism’.

Nathuram Godse’s brother Gopal Godse in his book writes that the refugees Gandhi was talking about removing from mosques were all Hindus. Gopal has told that he saw the Hindus coming out, they were shivering due to cold and rains. They went outside ‘Birla House’ and raised slogans, but Gandhi did not listen to them. Gopal Godse was angry that why did Mahatma Gandhi not put any condition for the Pakistan government in his fast?

French writer Dominique Lapierre has mentioned in his book ‘Freedom at Midnight‘, that during the fast, Mahatma Gandhi was also engaged in making arrangements to go to Pakistan. For this, he was taking the help of Jahangir Patel, the cotton broker of Mumbai. But Jinnah refused, expressing his disbelief in Gandhi. Jinnah had stated that he was made to quit Congress because of Gandhi. However, after the announcement of getting 55 crore rupees, Jinnah agreed and Gandhi made up his mind to go to Pakistan, walking.

Lapierre writes how Mahatma Gandhi, while welcoming the Mountbatten couple who came to see him during the fast, said, “Well, when I sit to fast, the mountain comes to Muhammad.” Industrialist Ghanshyam Das Birla had also tried to explain to Gandhi that the consequences of transferring money to Pakistan would not be good because belligerent Pakistan will use that money to buy weapons against India. But Gandhi did not budge.

What were the 55 crores rupees?

The partition of India had also resulted in the partition of the Reserve Bank. At the time of partition, the vaults of RBI had Rs 375 crores, and after deliberations, it was decided that India will give Rs 75 crores to Pakistan for ‘assets and liabilities’. Rs 20 crores were already given and Rs 55 crores were pending. But soon after partition, Pakistan carried out brutal attacks and massacres in Jammu and Kashmir and occupied Gilgit and Baltistan. Though Nehru and many Indian leaders at that time were against giving those 55 crores to Pakistan immediately, Gandhi’s fast forced the government of India to hand over the money despite Pakistan’s bloody attacks, the slaughter of Hindus and Sikhs and the occupation of Gilgit Baltistan.

Pakistan’s invasion of Kashmir in October 1947

Soon after the independence, the Pakistani Army prepared a plan called ‘Operation Gulmarg‘ and put it into action. According to the plan, 20 Lashkars (tribal militias), each consisting of 1000 Pashtun tribals, were to recruited from various Pashtun tribes, and armed at the brigade headquarters at Bannu, Wanna, Peshawar, Kohat, Thall and Nowshera by the first week of September. The armed Lashkars were expected to reach their launching point in Abbottabad on October 18, and subsequently cross into Jammu and Kashmir on October 22, 1947. The primary objective of the Operation was to capture Srinagar by October 26, 1947.

The weeks of planning and illicit manoeuvrings under Operation Gulmarg culminated into the invasion of Jammu and Kashmir which marked the commencement of the events that led to the first Indo-Pak war. In the wee hours of October 22, 1947, scores of Pakistani Pashtun tribal militias, in connivance with the Pakistani state and army surreptitiously crossed the border from Garhi Habibullah into Jammu and Kashmir and attacked the town of Muzaffarabad.

After wreaking havoc in Muzaffarabad, the Pashtuns marched towards the prosperous town of Baramulla, even though the path to Srinagar was clear. Here too, the Pashtuns killed innumerable men and women, looted houses and then set them on fire. Out of 14,000 population at the time, less than two thousand had remained.

‘If India declares itself a Hindu Rashtra 15 nations will follow suit’: What Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, the Puri Shankaracharya said

0

Swami Nischalananda Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of Gobardhan Peeth, Puri, who visited the annual Gangasagar Mela in West Bengal to take a holy dip in the confluence of Ganga and Bay of Bengal, and offer prayers at the Kapil Muni Temple on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, has once again spoken in favour of India being declared a Hindu Rashtra.

If India declares itself a Hindu Rashtra 15 nations will follow suit: Puri seer Swami Nischalananda Saraswati

Speaking in a press conference on January 13, Thursday, the revered Puri seer said that he has held video conferences with top representatives from 52 countries, in which representatives from 15 nations, including Mauritius and Bhutan, have stated unequivocally that if India declares itself a Hindu Rashtra, they will follow suit.

The Puri seer raised concerns over Nepal, the world’s sole Hindu nation, now becoming a puppet in the hands of China. “Nepal has gradually gone into the grip of China. It is becoming a tool in China’s hands. Our foreign policy in this regard has proved to be weak,” said the seer.

Besides, the saint also shared his concern over the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. He expressed his concern with the desecration of idols and the targeting of Hindu temples and deities in the neighbouring country.

When minorities can live comfortably in India, why can’t Hindus be safe in Bangladesh? Puri Shankaracharya expresses displeasure over the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh

Expressing displeasure over the demolition of idols of Hindu deities in Bangladesh, Shankaracharya said, “When minorities can live comfortably in India, why can’t Hindus be safe in Bangladesh? Bangladesh is carved out of India itself. The insult of Hindu gods and goddesses cannot be tolerated anywhere in the world, remarked Swami Nischalananda Saraswati.

On Gangasagar fair being organised under the shadows of the pandemic, Shankaracharya opined sternly- “Vidhan Sabha elections were held in various states during the period of Corona and are going to be held in future also. When there is a political program, the politicians do not have a vision of Corona, but when religious programs are organized, the matter of Corona starts rising”.

Shankaracharya further took offence to pilgrimage sites being turned into tourism attractions. It is not right to give the form of Bhog Bhoomi (land of lust) to Tapobhoomi (land of penance), exclaimed Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati.

Swami Nischalananda Saraswati backs the idea of declaring India a Hindu Rashtra

It may be recalled that in October last year, the Puri seer had concluded that India will become a Hindu Nation in the next 3.5 years. Speaking to his devotees, Swami Nischalananda Saraswati had opined that Hindus were the ancestors of everyone who lived in India. Sanatan Dharma enriched their lives. Converts should be reintroduced to Hinduism by informing them of their history, said the Puri seer adding: “Hindi is spoken by 40% of the country’s population. Sanskrit is also included in Hindi. The ideas of Sanatan Dharma are properly conveyed in Hindi versions of the Vedas and Puranas. As a result, the Hindi language must also be promoted.”

Earlier too in the year 2020, the seer had appealed to United Nations to declare India, Bhutan, Nepal as Hindu Rashtra. In an interview with the media, the Puri seer had stated that many of the world’s 204 nations have been designated as Muslim and Christian countries. Despite the fact that these countries have a big Hindu population, there is no specific Hindu country. The United Nations should take note of this and designate India, Nepal, and Bhutan to be Hindu countries, as well as take the appropriate steps to help Hindus who have been tortured and persecuted in other countries, the seer had maintained.

The Puri seer is not the only one backing the idea of India being declared a Hindu Rashtra. On September 29, seer Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya Maharaj of Tapasvi Chavani in Ayodhya had also demanded that India should be declared a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ by October 2. He added if the central government did not fulfil his demand, he would take ‘Jal Samadhi’ in the Sarayu river at 12 PM on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. He also urged the Centre to terminate the nationality of Muslims and Christians.

Earlier, Paramhans Acharya had gone on a 15-day long fast-unto-death over the same issue. He broke the fast only after Home Minister Amit Shah met him.

Novak Djokovic’s visa cancelled again by Australian Immigration Minister Alex Hawke: Read details

According to ANI, Australia’s Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services, and Multicultural Affairs, Alex Hawke, has cancelled Novak Djokovic’s visa. Djokovic is technically prevented from obtaining a new Australian visa for three years unless specific conditions are met.

“Today I exercised my power under section 133C (3) of the Migration Act to cancel the visa held by Mr Novak Djokovic on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so,” said minister Alex Hawke in an official statement.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in a statement on Friday that Immigration Minister Alex Hawke’s decision to withdraw Novak Djokovic’s visa helps to safeguard Australia during the epidemic.

His statement read, “I note the Minister for Immigration’s decision in relation to Mr Novak Djokovic’s visa. I understand that following careful consideration, action has been taken by the Minister to cancel Mr Djokovic’s visa held on health and good order grounds, on the basis that it was in the public interest to do so. This pandemic has been incredibly difficult for every Australian but we have stuck together and saved lives and livelihoods…”

In a recent, Novak Djokovic won his legal battle against the Australian government in an Australian court. The Federal Circuit Court in Australia reversed Djokovic’s deportation order which was passed because he entered Australia on January 5 without a legal cause for not being vaccinated against Covid-19. Djokovic was detained by immigration in Melbourne’s iconic Park Hotel after his visa was revoked.

Djokovic now needs to show an arguable case and file for a temporary injunction, but it’s hard to predict what the details of that case might be without having Hawke’s full explanation, Immigration lawyer Justin Quill said. If he does file for an injunction and receive it, it might allow Djokovic to train for and play in the Australian Open, he added.

Notably, Djokovic admitted last Wednesday (12/01/2022) that there were mistakes in his travel documents. He stated that his team had provided new information to the authorities. “We are living in challenging times in a global pandemic, and sometimes these mistakes can occur,” he stated in a statement.

Recently, a private talk between two reporters while they were off-air went viral on social media sites, in which they were heard ridiculing tennis player Novak Djokovic.

In the released footage, Channel 7 newsreaders Rebecca Maddern and Mike Amor labelled Djokovic a “lying, devious a**hole.” The footage was probably taken from Tuesday night’s 6 p.m. bulletin.

British security agency MI5 issues ‘interference alert’, says Chinese lawyer is trying to influence politicians on behalf of China

British agency MI5 has issued an interference alert on Thursday 13th January 2022. Through this unprecedented security warning circulated to the British MPs and peers of both the hoses of the British parliament, an Anglo-Chinese lawyer Christian Lee has been accused of seeking to improperly influence parliamentarians on behalf of China’s ruling Communist Party. This move by MI5 is seen as a major change in UK’s stance when it comes to discussing China. To date, MI5 is known for having favoured caution when it comes to China.

On Thursday, British MPs and peers from both the hoses of the British Parliament received a warning from British internal security agency MI5 which alleged that the Anglo-Chinese lawyer Christian Lee is involved in improperly influencing the parliamentarians on behalf of China’s ruling Communist Party. This warning from MI5 is in absolute contrast with its earlier response when it concluded three spies were operating in the UK in 2020. The agency had concluded that the three spies had been posing as journalists. These journalists were quietly expelled.

What is there in the issued alert?

MI5 has issued such a warning for the very first time. The warning clearly names Christian Chun Kui Lee along with her picture. It is alleged that she has “knowingly engaged in political interference activities on behalf of the United Front Work Department (UFWD) of the Chinese Communist Party”.

The warning further says that the UFWD was “seeking to covertly interfere in UK politics through establishing links with established and aspiring parliamentarians across the political spectrum” and to “cultivate relationships with influential figures”.

The Speaker’s office shared an email to MPs on Thursday. The email contained this security warning given by MI5. In this warning, the MI5 authorities also accused Lee of having “facilitated financial donations to serving and aspiring parliamentarians on behalf of foreign nationals based in Hong Kong and China”.

Chinese Embassy in London responds

Soon after this, the Chinese embassy in London has presented its response. It has issued a statement in response to the allegations raised by MI5. It says that “China always adheres to the principle of non-interference in other country’s internal affairs. We have no need and never seek to ‘buy influence’ in any foreign parliament. We firmly oppose the trick of smearing and intimidation against the Chinese community in the UK.”

Who is Christian Lee?

Myanmar military carrying out operation against anti-India terrorists inside their territory: Reports

On Friday, Myanmar military forces reportedly carried out operations against anti-India insurgent groups operating from Myanmar. The government said that several anti-India insurgent groups had set up their camps areas close to Myanmar’s border with India and the security forces in the neighbouring country are currently taking action on them.

India was informed about the entire episode by the military Government in Myanmar whose representatives are in constant touch with Indian security officials. According to the reports, rebel outfits like the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and Kangla Yawol Kanna Lup have made camps inside Myanmar. After a previous operation by the Myanmar Military dismantled their camps three years ago, they had made additional camps in the border areas, as per reports.

Indian Para SF had carried out an operation yesterday

Yesterday on January 13, it was reported that Para SF personnel had carried out an operation at Senam, 10 km deep inside Myanmar and had killed 2 PLA insurgents. East Mojo had reported that one Para SF soldier was killed in the action.

Last year, on December 16, the Myanmar government had handed over five terrorists of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), a sister organisation of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army. Reports mention that the Myanmar Army had arrested these five in August and had imprisoned them at Monia in Mandalay, Myanmar. They were later brought to India in a special Indian Air Force plane.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) was again in news on November 13 last year for executing a terrorist attack in Manipur. Four of the Indian Army soldiers, apart from their Commanding Officer Colonel Viplav Tripathy, his wife and their 8-year-old son were also martyred in the attack.

However, reports further mention that the Indian government is yet to receive details of the damage caused to the insurgent groups today by the Military Government in Myanmar.

It is pertinent to note that the Myanmarese leaders had in the year 2016 assured that the country won’t allow any anti-India activities from its soil, including the cross-border activities by certain insurgent groups. In 2015, India had carried out cross border surgical strikes against insurgent groups hiding in Myanmar.
