The ongoing campaign launched by Muslim countries against France and country’s President Emmanuel Macron has now gained traction in India as Muslims have now begun similar protests in the country against the alleged ‘Islamophobia’ of the French President. On Thursday, Congress MLA Arif Masood led organised and led a protest supporting terrorism in the name of Islam that led to the beheading of Samuel Paty and others in France. The protest where thousands of Muslims participated was held in Bhopal.

Congress MLA and thousands of Muslims with him hit the streets to express their contempt against one of India’s closest ally – France and support the violence unleashed by radical Muslims.

Amidst the chants of Islamic slogans such as ‘Naara-e-Takbeer’, Muslims in Bhopal protested against French President Emmanuel Macron for his alleged ‘Islamophobic’ act. Essentially, the Congress MLA organised a rally over the depiction of Prophet Muhammad in cartoons and President Macron’s support from freedom of speech over radical Islam.

Arif Masood, the Congress MLA from Bhopal Central, had organised the protest against the French President Emmanuel Macron. Taking to Twitter, Masood said that thousands of Muslims had assembled at Iqbal Maidan on Thursday to protest against the French President for speaking ill against Prophet Muhammad.

Meanwhile, a complaint has been lodged against Congress MLA Arif Masood and others for organising a rally of more than 2,000 Muslims by violating social distancing norms.

Another Congress MLA slams France

Another Congress leader, Salman Nizami took to Twitter to slam French President and even India for support France after it suffered terror attacks where its citizens were beheaded.

Irate over India’s support to France, Nizami wrote that “India is the only country which backed France President for insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). And they said Modi is not Islamophobic!”

It is interesting to note that even as Congress MLAs rabble rouse against one of India’s allies, France, Congress itself has made no public statement condemning the brutal terror attacks in France that were fuelled by frenzied radicals taking offence to blasphemy.

Muslims protests even as India stand in solidarity with France

India has come out strongly in support of France which has been receiving severe backlash from Muslim countries after President Emmanuel Macron declared war against radical Islamic terrorism following the beheading of a teacher by a Muslim immigrant terrorist two weeks ago.

In an official statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs said that it “strongly deplores the personal attacks in unacceptable language on President Emmanuel Macron in violation of the most basic standards of international discourse”.

The Modi government also offered its condolences to the family of the deceased and the people of France. “There is no justification for terrorism for any reason or under any circumstance,” the MEA statement added.

Ever since this controversy erupted, India has expressed its strong support to France, which was manifested not just in the form of an official MEA statement, but also after several social media users took to social media platforms to display their solidarity with France.

Several Indian social media users expressed their support to France and trended #IStandWithFrance. Several social media users tweeted with this hashtag people to convey their support to Macron’s strong decision to take a stand against extremism in France.

Overwhelmed by India’s support, French leaders thanked India and Indians for showing support against anti-French sentiments. 

However, it is rather baffling to see Indian Muslims protesting against France even as the country’s official policy has been to support the European country at a time when it is facing unscrupulous attack from the Islamic world. What is even more surprising is a Congress MLA openly supporting Islamic terrorism in the name of ‘blasphemy’ and terming the French President’s principled stand as ‘Islamophobia’ even as India as a country has taken a firm stand in support of France.

Amidst the ongoing protests by Muslims against France over country’s stand to fight radical Islam, many Muslims India has now joined their religious counterparts across the world to protest against the alleged ‘Islamophobia’ of the French President. On Thursday, taking inspiration from the fellow Muslims across the world, members of the Muslim community hit the streets to protest over French President Emmanuel Macron’s strong reaction against the Islamic terror.

While in Bhopal, Congress MLA organised a protest of thousands of Muslims, Muslims in Bhindi Bazaar of Mumbai posted images of French President on the streets of the city, walked and drove on these posters as a mark of protest against Macron after he had condemned the Islamic terror attack on a French teacher who was beheaded by his student for showing Charlie Hebdo caricatures.

Hailing the actions of Muslim protestors in Mumbai, Maulana Abbas Rizvi of the radical Islamic organisation Raza Academy said that he welcomed the actions of garlanding Macron’s posters with shoes as a mark of protest against French President.

“The disrespect shown by Emmanuel Macron is condemnable and he deserves strict punishment,” said Maulana Abbas Rizvi.

It is pertinent to note that the radical Islamist organisation – Raza Academy has been extremely angry against French President Macron, especially after he vowed to fight the radical Islamic terror in France. Earlier, Raza Academy had initiated a campaign demanding that Muslim countries issue a fatwa against French President Emmanuel Macron for displaying cartoons on Prophet Mohammed by Charlie Hebdo were projected onto government buildings.

Muslims take a contrary stand to India’s official position on France

Shockingly, the protests by ‘Indian’ Muslims against France strangely comes at a time when the country has expressed its support for one of its closest allies – France in its fight against radical Islamic terrorism.

AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan restrains NIA officials as they conduct raids at NGO headed by former Delhi Minorities Commission Chairman, FIR registered

On Thursday, the Delhi police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Amanatullah Khan for obstructing National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials from conducting raids in Jamia Nagar. The raids were conducted against some NGOs, and organisations for using funds to promote ‘seditious activity’ in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

As per reports, the FIR was filed at the Shaheen Bagh police station, following a complaint by the NIA DSP wherein he accused Khan of obstructing public servants from performing their duty. The central investigative agency on Thursday raided two locations at Jamia Nagar, including the Charity Alliance, which is headed by former Delhi Minorities Chairman Zafarul Islam Khan. It is pertinent to remember that he made a provocative statement against Hindus on April 28.

When the NIA team was about to leave the premises of Charity Alliance, the AAP legislator and his supporters blocked the road and ‘restrained’ the investigative officials from doing their duty. A case has been filed under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Reportedly, the NIA had earlier asked the Delhi Police for logistical support for conducting the raids.

Zafarul Islam Khan even took to Twitter to thank Amanatullah Khan for his ‘support’.

“I thank all well-wishers who came to support me yesterday, especially Amanatullah Khan”, he tweeted.

Earlier in August, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan posted on his official Twitter account and urged LG Delhi to protect the family of Tahir Hussain. He claimed that Tahir’s children approached him and informed him that they are facing a lot of problems since Hussain is currently in jail. He said that the children are unable to pay school fees as Hussain’s accounts are seized.

Charge sheet filed by Delhi Police has revealed that Tahir Hussain orchestrated the anti-Hindu riots in February 2020 in the national capital. He is also accused of leading a mob from his house and masjid which led to IB officer Ankit Sharma’s murder. Khan was actively involved in giving speeches during anti-CAA protests in Delhi from December to February. He was spotted leading protests in Delhi in December that later turned violent. He had also claimed that Hussain was being framed as he is a Muslim.

Bangladesh: Muslim mob beats Muslim man to death and then burn his body after rumours of blasphemy in a mosque

On Thursday, a man was lynched to death by a fanatic mob on the premises of Burimari Union Parishad at Patgram Upazila in Lalmonirhat district of Rangpur Division in Bangladesh over charges of blasphemy.

As per reports, the deceased has been identified as a 50-year old Shahidunnabi Jewel. A resident of Rangpur and an ex-employee of Rangpur Cantonment Public School, Jewel was said to be suffering from a mental condition. The victim, accompanied by his friend Sultan Jubaer Abbas had gone to Burimari Jam-e Masjid to offer Asr Namaaz.

They had claimed that Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen terrorists were hiding inside the mosque. The duo wanted to check the bookshelf inside the mosque. However, the locals alleged that they failed to uphold the ‘sanctity’ of the Quran and detained the two. Activist Taslima Nasreen said on Facebook that the crime was triggered after the victim accidentally stepped on the Quran.

Jewel and his friend Abbas was then kept confined at the Union Parishad Council Bhaban by a fellow union member, Hafizul Islam. Soon, several people gathered around the venue took Jewel out of his custody. Superintendent of Police (SP) Adida Sultana informed, “One of the men went inside the mosque with the Khadim, Zubed Ali, before searching the bookshelf at the prayer hall claiming that firearms were hidden behind Quran and Hadith books.”

Ali said, “The man started to search the bookshelf. At one point, five or six worshippers, who were outside the mosque, entered and dragged the man to the stairs outside before starting to beat him and the other man was waiting outside the hall. Soon after [UP] Member Hafizul Islam intervened and took the men away from there. I don’t know what happened to them after that.” In his defence, Hafizul Islam said, “We tried to keep them in our custody. But the mob stormed the building and snatched one of them.” At the same time, Patgram Upazila Council Chairman Ruhul Amin Babul and Burimari UP Chairman SM Newaz Nishat were called in to pacify the situation.

Police deployed in the area

Although the police were successful in ensuring the security of Abbas, the unruly mob took away Jewel, assaulted him brutally and set him ablaze on the main road of Burimari Bazar. Besides, the mob also vandalised the adjoining National Bank Office, and torched the Burimari Union Parishad building. Following the incident, the district administration deployed additional police forces and Rapid Action Battalion in the area.

Hours after Pakistan’s Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had openly admitted Pakistan role in the barbaric 2019 Pulwama terror attack exposing Pakistan’s direct support for Islamic terrorists, certain Indian media outlets like NDTV and India Today shockingly provided a platform to Fawad Chaudhry to ‘issue a clarification’.

On Thursday, India Today network and controversial Congress-era news network NDTV, granted space to a terror-enabler like Fawad Chaudhry to defend his earlier admission about Pakistan’s active role in carrying out Pulwama terror attack that left 40 Indian soldiers martyred.

NDTV, which has a history of propagating pro-Pakistan views on television, took to Twitter to put out a statement issued by Pakistan Minister Fawad Chaudhry. “Pak minister who bragged about Pulwama tells NDTV, ‘Pakistan doesn’t allow any terrorism, I was misinterpreted’,” reported NDTV.

India Today does an interview with Pakistan minister

India Today, which is currently accused of manipulating viewership ratings, went a step ahead to telecast an interview with the Pakistan Minister just hours of his shocking admission of Pakistan’s involvement in the 2019 Pulwama terror attacks that killed 40 CRPF soldiers.

Rajdeep Sardesai, in his show, invited Fawad Chaudhry and provided him with a platform to clarify earlier statements made inside the National Assembly. Calling the Pakistan Minister as ‘Saheb’, Rajdeep Sardesai enabled the Pakistani minister to make an u-turn on his own admission.

The controversial ‘journalist’ did not even pose tough questions to Pakistan minister or confronted him for admitting to Pakistan’s direct role in creating instability in the region and rather provided an opportunity for the terror-enablers to whitewash their crimes.

Speaking to India Today, Fawad Chaudhry attempted to clarify on his earlier admission by claiming that one should watch the entire speech he made in the National Assembly on Thursday.

Making a u-turn, the Pakistan Minister claimed that when he spoke of Pulwama inside the National Assembly, he was referring to Pakistan’s immediate military response aftermath of Balakot airstrikes carried out by Indian Air Force on February 26, 2019, and not the Pulwama terror attacks.

During the entire interview, Rajdeep Sardesai enabled Chaudhry to distort his own admissions made on the floor of Pakistan’s Parliament and allowed him to get away with troublesome claims of India being the country that believes in festering trouble.

Rajdeep Sardesai allowed the following statements to be made by Fawad Chaudhry without offering any counter, condemnation or even a follow-up question:

  1. “I thought this is how Indian media behaves (referring to how his statement was allegedly ‘twisted’).
  2. “We don’t believe on ‘ghus ke marna like the Indian media believes, or the Indian security establishment believes that ki ‘terrorism karwao to wo ghuske maarna hai’. He then says, ‘we used our jets to openly attack India'”.
  3. “If someone believes in India that for political success, statements need to be twisted, then I can’t help”.

Essentially, Rajdeep Sardesai allowed a Pakistani minister who had just admitted that Pakistan actively carried out the Pulwama terror attack to insinuate not only that Pakistan fought India “honourably” but also, that it is the Indian Army that believes in spreading terrorism and not Pakistan.

While Fawad Chaudhry made such wildly ridiculous allegations, Rajdeep stayed mum. In fact, after these statements were made, almost agitated over Fawad putting Imran Khan in a touch spot, he questions Fawad about how he has now contradicted the earlier claims of Imran Khan that Pakistan had no role to play in the Pulwama terror attack.

Rajdeep Sardesai, troubled over Pakistan’s own admission of perpetrating terror in India, questioned Fawad Chaudhary for deviating from Pakistan’s earlier stand claiming that it did not have anything to do with Pulwama terror attacks.

In the interview with India Today, Fawad seemed nervous and fumbling for words. Any experienced journalist could have torn him a new one if the intent was clear and present. However, Rajdeep Sardesai chose to give him a free-run not only to go back on his earlier admission but also pull India down after admitting that Pakistan was carrying out terror attacks on its soil.

This fact was observed even by Army veterans who took exception to Rajdeep Sardesai’s conduct.

Army veteran Major General Harsha Kakar went on to call the interview a “terribly conducted interview” that was “aimed at aiding rather than confronting”.

Pakistan Minister admits Pakistan role in carrying out Pulwama terror attack

It is pertinent to note that on Wednesday Pakistan’s Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry admitted Terroristan’s role in the barbaric 2019 Pulwama terror attack. Responding to the opposition criticism against Imran ‘Taliban’ Khan-led government over its failure to respond to India, Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan gave a befitting reply to India by entering their territory and attacking them in Pulwama.

“Humne Hindustan ko ghus ke maara (We hit India in their home). Our success in Pulwama, is a success of the people under the leadership of Imran Khan. You and us are all part of that success,” Fawad Chaudhry said in the national assembly.

“We are proud that our brave sons (terrorists) entered their territory and attacked them in Pulwama. Even Indian media is ashamed to report about Pulwama incident,” said Fawad Chaudhry as he boasted about Pakistan’s direct involvement in the deadly terrorist attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir on February 14, 2019.

The Pakistan Minister was referring to the suicide-attack unleashed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad on the convoy of CRPF soldiers.

After French President Emmanuel Macron announced a crackdown on radical Islam following terror attacks by Islamic terrorists over alleged blasphemy of displaying images of Muhammed, Muslims across the globe have launched a campaign against France, and Charlie Hebdo, which had published the cartoons. Pakistani PM Imran Khan and Turkey present Erdoğan have launched an attack on France, and today former Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamad even said that Muslims have the right to kill millions of French people for offending them.

Islamists in India has also jumped into this attack, and one of them is Zainab Sikander Siddiqui, a Columnist at Shekhar Gupta’s The Print. Referring the decision of Charlie Hebdo to reprint the cartoons of Muhammad which has enraged the radical Muslims across the world, Zainab claimed that the publication only targets Islam, and it does not dare to offend other religions. But while making that claim, she also said that of Charlie Hebdo also don’t have the guts to make fun of Holocaust or Jews.

This is one of the most bizarre arguments made by a radical Islamist, because she thinks that one can make fun of the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the state organised murder of Jews by Nazi Germany, and it is not a religion of Jews that she seems to be mistaken. During the Holocaust, the Adolf Hitler led Germany had killed 6 million Jews, and around 11 million others including Soviets, Poles, Romas, Gays, political opponents and others suing gas chambers, firing squads and other methods, in concentration camps, extermination centres and other such organised places. It is not something that can be a subject of making fun.

The other claim of Zainab Sikander Siddiqui, that Charlie Hebdo does not mock Jews, Chirstians or the LGBTQ is completely wrong, and she spread a lie by claiming that the French satirical magazine publishes cartoons only on Islam. In fact, the magazine has published the maximum number of cartoons mocking Christianity and Christian preachers, including the Pope. Their cartoons offended Christians also, but no Christian has even shot or beheaded anyone for them. Offended Christians did take action against Charlie Hebdo, by filing lawsuits against them, but they didn’t resort to violence.

After Zainab posted the tweet, Twitter users flooded her mentions with cartoons on Christians, Jews and Gays, proving her wrong. What’s more, the magazine had even used the Holocaust in some of its cartoons.

But even after so many proofs that she was wrong, the columnist remained defiant, claiming that the cartoons depicting other religions are not offensive. She took the role of judge to determine what is offensive and what is not, and ruled that cartoons mocking Christian and Jew religious leaders are not offensive.

She claimed that those cartoons only mock religious leaders, and even Muslims mock their clerics, therefore they are not offensive. Another blatant lie, because many cartoons posted in her replies depicted the Jesus Christ, Mother Marry and other such figures. She conveniently ignored those replies, and kept on arguing that Charlie Hebdo does not mock other religions.

NBSA summons Zee News editor Sudhir Chaudhary for “divisive” report on the different types of Jihad, says it targets the Muslim community

Zees News Editor-in-chief Sudhir Chaudhary has once again come in the line of fire for his March 11 report, in which he had exposed the idea behind ‘Jihad’ with a flowchart. The show had triggered the ‘secular-liberal’ media and the Islamists who had attacked the Zee News editor for his reportage.

The same program has now miffed the News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA), which has summoned Zee News for selectively targeting the Muslim community through the show. It has asked Zee News to appear for a hearing on November 26 via video conferencing.

Acting on the complaint filed by Congress supporter and activist Saket Gokhale, the NBSA ruled that prima facie, the channel had violated the fundamental principles of the Code of Ethics by broadcasting the controversial programme. 

“Broadcasters shall ensure a full and fair presentation of news”. Zee News also breached the guidelines on Broadcast of Potentially Defamatory Content and Specific Guideline Covering Reportage relating to Racial & Religious Harmony.

“NBSA was also of the prima facie view that the tone and tenor of the programme was divisive and that the broadcast certainly was targeting a particular community which is against the secular ethos of our country,” the regulatory authority’s order read.

Sudhir Chaudhary facing the wrath of ‘secular-liberal’ media for exposing inconvenient facts

Ever since the Zee News Editor-in-chief, Sudhir Chaudhary has reported on various kinds of ‘Jihad’ and exposed its modus-operandi on a TV show, he has been facing the ire of the ‘secular-liberal’ media. After an FIR was filed against Sudhir Chaudhary in Kerala, Pakistani had also, through a WhatsApp call tried to intimidate the Zee News’ Editor-in-chief for exposing “inconvenient facts”.

This call was followed by many more threats on Whatsapp from other Pakistani numbers, details of which had been forwarded to Delhi and Gautam Buddh Nagar police for necessary action. 

Several Pakistani Twitter handles too tried to threaten Sudhir Chaudhary by posting hate messages. A video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also shared to claim that Indian media was being targeted from within the country too.

Zee News’ editor-in-chief highlighted the ‘land jihad’ using Roshni Act

Sudhir Chaudhary’s episode exposing the real purpose and ways of carrying out ‘Jihad’ was watched widely. The highlight of the show, broadcast on March 11, was the “Jihad chart”.

In the show, the Zee News’ Editor-in-chief had explained stating that there are two types of Jihad – Hard Jihad and Soft Jihad. “Hard Jihad includes Population Jihad, Love Jihad, Land Jihad, Education Jihad, Victim Jihad and Direct Jihad, while Soft Jihad includes Economic Jihad, History Jihad, Media Jihad, Movies and Songs Jihad and Secular Jihad,” Sudhir Chaudhary had explained in his hour-long show.

The harassment being meted out to Sudhir Chaudhary is in line with the latest trend of the ‘liberal-secular’ ecosystem unleashing its might to silence media persons who often share a nationalistic discourse and stay away from toeing the line of the left-wing intelligentsia in the country.

Republic TV’s editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami is another such journalist who has been facing the similar brunt for its relentless reporting, first on the Palghar lynching case and then on the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

It may be noted that NBSA is an independent body set up by the News Broadcasters Association (NBA), which is an organization of certain TV News Channels. It includes channels like India Today, India TV, TV18, NDTV, Zee news etc. The rival of NBA is News Broadcasters Federation (NBF), which includes Republic TV and more than 80 news channels in various Indian languages.

Spewing venom on Twitter in support of the recent killing of three people in France by an Islamic terrorist, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad posted a series of Tweets claiming that Muslims had the right to kill millions of French people. He also went on to complain about the way women dress up western countries “a string covers the most secret place” in their bodies. Mohamad justified the killing of the French people saying that “angry people kill” because the French “in the course of history have killed millions of people”.

Mohamad’s statement comes at a time when three attacks on French people by Islamic terrorists have been reported in a day alone. Further supporting the attacks on French people by Muslim attackers, Mohamad said that Muslims had the right to punish the French and the mere boycott was not enough to compensate for the wrongs committed by the French.

Mohamad also justified the beheading of French teacher Samuel Paty after he showed a caricature of Prophet Mohamad in his classroom, saying that freedom of expression did not include insulting other people.

In a long series of tweets, Mohamad did not even spare the women in the western countries. Criticising their manner of dressing, he said that the western women had a severely restrictive dress code but over time “more and more parts of the body are exposed”. “Today a little string covers the most secret place”, he added.

Mohamad critcised the Christians in the western countries for not showing strict adherence to Christianity. He called them “Christians in name only”.

After all the justifications and condonation of the killing of French people by Islamic terrorists, Mohamad ironically accused French President Emmanuel Macron of being “primitive” for blaming Islam and Muslims for the killing of the school of teacher.

Interestingly, Mohamad claimed that Muslimas had not, as yet, applied the law of “eye for an eye”.

It is interesting to note that Mahathir Mohamad went from talking about the dressing of western women and the difference of culture between that and Muslim women to inciting genocide against the French merely in a span of a few tweets. It is pertinent to note that In 2010, France banned face-covering niqabs and burqas in public, framing it as a move to promote open and equal interaction in society. The ban set off protests where some people clashed with police. France was the first European nation to pass such a nationwide ban.

It is possible that Mohamad’s reference to women’s ‘most secret place’ being covered by a string and the cultural difference thereof was a reference to France banning to Burqa and thus, that too was viewed by him as an anti-Islam move.

Attacks by an Islamic terrorist in France

In a terrorist attack at Notre Dame Church in Nice, France that happened earlier in the day, three people have died of which at least two are reportedly beheaded. The attack left several others injured. The Islamic terrorist reportedly did not stop shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ while carrying out the attack. This was followed by reports of two more incidents of attack one from Avignon in France and the other from Mecca. A man in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah was reportedly arrested after he stabbed a guard at the French consulate today.

In another incident, an unidentified man wielding a knife reportedly attacked a group of police officers patrolling the streets of Montfavet, near the southern French city of Avignon. The attacker here too shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ while carrying out the attack.

The beheading of Samuel Paty and calls to Boycott France

Earlier this month, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Islam is in crisis all over the world. He also suggested to close down places of worship that are suspected of radicalisation. Just two weeks after his statement, a school teach Samuel Paty was beheaded by a radical Islamist for showing Prophet Muhammad’s cartoon in his class.

Macron condemned the heinous crime strongly after which Islamic nations started boycotting French products and held protest rallies against France. Muslims trended hashtags like #BoycottFrenchProducts and #TwitterSuspendMacron on Twitter and spreading the same hatred towards France on other social media platforms. Some so-called celebrities like Waqar Zaka also tried to guilt-trip Muslim celebrities as they are not boycotting France on their social media handles.

AajTak, Zee News and others apologise after NBSA pulls up the channels for spreading fake news on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death

Days after the News Broadcasting Standard Authority (NBSA) ordered AajTak, the Hindi-language news channel of the India Today group, Zee News, News 24 and India TV to air an apology for its insensitive and sensationalised reporting of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the channels have complied with the same.

AajTak issues apology a day after the designated date

The Broadcasting Authority had ordered AajTak to air an apology on live on October 27 at 8 PM. The Hindi news channel aired its apology just after 9 pm on October 28. It specifically apologised for using taglines like “Aise kaise hit wicket ho gaye Sushant?” and “Sushant zindagi ki pitch par hit wicket kaise ho gaye“, stating it had violated clauses by which “any deceased person should be respected and their death should not be sensationalized”. However, it did not apologise for “manufacturing” tweets, which had been part of the NBSA’s order.

Aaj Tak was pulled up for telecasting fake tweets attributing to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and passing off them as his last tweets. The channel was directed to air three apologies and pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh. “The broadcaster should have conducted its due diligence and verification prior to telecasting/uploading the tweets and not subsequently, which due diligence is a basic tenet and requirement of journalistic ethics and telecasting the tweets without verification had the tendency of spreading misinformation amongst the public,” the NBSA had said.

AajTak peddled several such fake news related to Sushant Singh Rajput

The Hindi news outlet AajTak, part of India Today network, had peddled several such fake news related to Sushant Singh Rajput. It had published an elaborate report on late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s “last tweets” on June 16, two days after the actor was found dead in his house in Mumbai.

It had also tweeted the article from its official Twitter account. In the report, AajTak had claimed that the actor had tweeted thrice before his death before taking his own life. The news channel had shared some emotionally-charged “tweets” where the late actor allegedly hinted taking his own life were subsequently deleted. But those fake tweets and they were not posted by the actor before his death. Aaj Tak later took down its report without clarification. 

Zee News apologises for running insensitive tag lines while reporting actor Sushant Singh’s death

Zee News was hauled up for running insensitive tag lines like: “Patna ka Sushant, Mumbai me fail kyu?”, among other violations of the NBSA code. NBSA had asked the channel to air an apology also on October 27.

Zee News had admitted that it had violated specific guidelines by sensationalising its reports on the death of the actor, which it said created “panic, distress, or undue fear among viewers”. The apology was aired at 9 pm in accordance with the NBSA’s instructions.

The video of Zee News’s apology, was posted on Twitter by Saurav Das, one of the complainants.

India TV apologises for broadcasting pictures of the mortal remains of Sushant Singh Rajput

Moreover, India TV was told to apologise for repeatedly broadcasting pictures of Rajput’s mortal remains, and describing it in gruesome detail. It is pertinent to note here that OpIndia had then reported how these viral images may have been morphed to push suicide theory.

The channel apologised at 9 pm on the designated day, admitting that they had “violated Clause 3.6 of the Specific Guidelines Coverage….which state that ‘the dead must be treated with respect.. Close-ups of dead and mutilated bodies should not be shown.’”

Meanwhile, the authority has also ordered News 24 to telecast an apology on October 29 for insensitive and sensational coverage of the actor’s death. The authority said the taglines run by News 24 were “offensive and affect the dignity of the deceased” by indicating that Rajput had himself forgotten the anti-suicide message given by him in his movie Chhichhore.

The authority had found the coverage in violation of its guidelines and asked the channels to apologise to viewers on air. On October 6, NBSA had said that the text, date and time of the apology will be given to the broadcasters.

India objects to Saudi Arabia over distorted map of India on new 20 Riyal banknote, asks to take urgent corrective steps

India has submitted a strong objection over the distorted map used by Saudi Arabia in its newly released 20 Riyal banknote which had shown Jammu and Kashmir as a separate territory from India. It was released to commemorate Saudi Arabia’s presidency of organizing the G-20 Summit on 21st and 22nd November.

A statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs said, “India has conveyed its serious concerns to Saudi Arabia both in Delhi & in Riyadh over gross misrepresentation of India’s external territorial boundaries in new Saudi banknote. We’ve asked Saudi side to take urgent corrective steps. J&K and Ladakh are integral parts of India”.

Banknote has King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud one side and world map on other

In the newly released banknote, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the 2020 G20 Summit logo has been featured on one side. On the other side, it highlights the G20 nations in a darker shade and the rest of the world in a lighter shade. It showed Gilgit-Baltistan and Jammu and Kashmir are not part of any country, neither India nor Pakistan, causing a huge outrage on social media.

The map also excludes territories under Pakistan, PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan, from the Pakistan map. Pakistan is yet to comment on the matter. It may be noted that Pakistan is not a member of the G-20 group.

Ministry of External Affairs registered objection

India considered it to be a serious matter and conveyed the displeasure to the Saudi Arabian embassy in New Delhi and the foreign ministry in Riyadh. As per the sources, Saudi Arabia has to make the required changes to the banknote else India may not participate in the G20 summit in November. Saudi Arabia has not reacted to India’s objection yet.
