Sonia Gandhi headed Rajiv Gandhi Foundation took well over Rs 1 crore from Govt of China in 3 years, launched ‘project’ endorsing FTA

At a time when the Congress party is facing all the heat over its secret deals with the Communist Party of China (CPC), another exposing detail has emerged further strengthening the claims of its intimate links with China. The new expose reveals that the Chinese government had donated Rs 10 lakh to the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Foundation’ in 2006 to give ‘financial assistance’ to its charities. OpIndia had earlier reported that according to a document available on Chinese Embassy in India website, the then Chinese Ambassador to India to India Sun Yuxi had donated Rs 10 lakhs to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, which has links to the Congress party and is run by Congress leaders.

Now, a perusal of the Annual Statements of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation has revealed a far more sinister agenda as more details have emerged. Turns out, the Chinese government had not only donated to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in the year 2006 but subsequent years as well. It is pertinent to note that Sonia Gandhi is the Chairperson of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and since the year 2005, of which documents have been reviewed, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were the trustees.

One sinister aspect that emerged is that even in 2005-2006, it was not just the Embassy of China that had donated to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, but also the Chinese government itself.

While the donation in 2005-2006 was to the tune of Rs 10 lac, further details also emerged.

Interestingly, the Government of China not only donated to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in 2006, but also in the subsequent years.

In the Annual Report of the Foundation for the year 2006-2007 as well, the People’s Republic of China is listed as a donor.

According to the returns filed by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation dug up by Twitter user @By2Kaafi, in the year 2006-2007, the Government of China donated Rs 90 lac to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.

Congress took Rs 90 lac from China in 2006-2007

Further, in the year 2007-2008, the Chinese Government was listed as a donor as well.

Annual report of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation of 2007-2008

After well over Rs 1 crore received by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, the foundation launched a study focussed on the interests of China.

The Annual report of the year 2008-2009 says:

The year witnessed a high point when a high-level delegation from the RGF paid an official visit to China to participate in the celebrations to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Mr Rajiv Gandhi’s historic visit to China in 1989. The delegation, led by Mr. Veerappa Moily, Chairman of the Second Administrative Reforms Commission, included Mr Salman Khurshid, former Minister of State for External Affairs, noted journalists Mr Vinod Sharma and Mrs Neerja Chaudhary, and Prof. Pratap Bhanu Mehta, President of the Centre for Policy Research.

Among the delegation were two Trustees of the Foundation, Prof. Ashok Ganguly and Dr Sekhar Raha. Mr Mohammad Saqib, Fellow of the Institute, accompanied the delegation as a facilitator. In addition to several engagements, the delegation participated in the Conference, ‘Carry Forward the Tradition and Strive for Common Development: Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of H.E. Rajiv Gandhi’s Visit to China’. It was jointly organised by the Foundation and the China Centre for Contemporary World Affairs.

In her message to the Conference, Chairperson of the Foundation, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, fondly recollected “the memories of our meeting with China’s Great Leader, Deng Xiaoping, and recall his pronouncement that the forthcoming century will belong to Asia”. She also said, “The tremendous growth in bilateral trade and economic relations in the last two decades, which reinforced the over-all development of ties, is a noteworthy outcome of the vision of Rajiv Gandhi and Deng Xiaop- ing.” The then Indian Ambassador to China H.E. Nirupama Rao delivered the address at the opening ceremony of the Conference.

On the same year, after receiving donations from the Government of China, two seminars were held by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation that focussed on the interests of China.

Seminars by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation

There were two “projects” which were also launched by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation after the donation was received from China. The studies focussed on the “perception study” and Technology transfer from Research and Development institutions to industry in India and China.

Projects by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation

Interestingly, between the years 2009 and 2010, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation went a step further and studied the feasibility of a Free Trade Agreement between India and China. The study essentially wanted the economy to completely open up between India and China.

The 2009-2010 report states:

In April 2009, RGICS Fellow Mohammad Saqib carried out a feasibility study, ‘India-China: Free Trade Agreement (FTA)’, in association with Dr Purnachandra Rao. The main objective of the study was to gain a better understanding of an FTA between India and China, analyze various trade issues and identify who would stand to gain and lose from such an agreement. The report concluded that China would be the greater beneficiary in all trade dimensions because of the efficiency of its economy: ‘There is a principal need for India to improve its commodity structure to balance its performance of competitiveness and complementarities.’ The authors suggested that India needed, at the minimum, to diversify its products. The study concluded that ‘there are always losers and gainers in the regional and free trade agreements. India and China can balance the gains and losses through an FTA. Therefore both governments should decide to enter into FTA negotiations. The proposed FTA between India and China will be feasible, desirable and mutually beneficial. An FTA between India and China should also be comprehensive, with a free flow of goods, services, investment and capital.’

In 2010-2011, the FTA study continued. The expert mentioned in the annual report only goes to show how the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation was continually undermining India’s position with relation to China and attempting to show China has a far more powerful entity that could only “benefit” India. The report concluded:

The study found China to be more fully integrated into the world economy as a major economic powerhouse than India, in large part because of the comparative advantage of labour surplus. But the study also proposed that an FTA would help bilateral economic relations and that the free flow of goods, services, investment and capital would, in fact, benefit India’s trade sector more than China’s.

Essentially, from the year 2005 to the year 208 at least, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation was involved in taking money from the Government of China and then, subsequent to that, studies were conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation that potentially undermined the position of India.

Further, it is pertinent to note that it was in this period, in the year 2008, that Congress signed an MoU with the Chinese Communist Party, which is the only political party in China.

During UPA1 in 2008, the Congress party and the Communist Party of China (CPC) had signed a deal in Beijing for exchanging high-level information and co-operation between them. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) also provided the two parties with the “opportunity to consult each other on important bilateral, regional and international developments”.

Interestingly, the MoU was signed by the then Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi and on the Chinese side, it was signed by none other than Xi Jinping himself, who was then the Chinese vice-president and standing committee member of the CPC’s politburo. The MoU was signed in the presence of his mother and party president Sonia Gandhi.

Before the signing of the MoU, the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi had held a long meeting with Xi and other senior leaders of the Communist Party of China to discuss issues of mutual interest.

In 2008, Sonia Gandhi had visited Beijing along with Rahul, daughter Priyanka, son-in-law Robert Vadra and their two children to attend the opening of the Olympic Games. A year before, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had also led a delegation of the Congress party to China.

The 2008 MoU between CCP and Congress came at a time when the Left parties in India had expressed lack of trust in UPA-1 government led by Congress. The India Today report suggests that even as China was aware of the political landscape in India, Xi Jinping went ahead and signed the pact with Congress as CCP wanted deeper ties with Congress, especially the Gandhi

Bhopal: FIR filed against Congress leader Digvijay Singh for holding bicycle rally against fuel price hike without prior approval

The Bhopal police filed an FIR against Digvijay Singh for leading a cycle protest against the rising prices of fuel amid the lockdown. It is alleged that the Rajya Sabha member did not take any permission from the authorities to stage a protest.

As per reports, the 73-year old politician along with other congress members rode bicycles from Roshanpura square to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s residence to protest against the Central and state govt’s move to hike fuel prices. A police official stated that delegation was stopped near the Apex bank on their way to Link road no.1 where Madhya Pradesh Chief minister resides because the congress members had not taken any permission for large gathering during the COVID-19 crisis.

Later, an FIR was registered against Digvijay Singh under Sections 188 (disobeying an order duly promulgated by public servant), 143 (unlawful assembly), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code.

FIR against Digvijay Singh for sharing an editted video to malign MP CM

Prior to this, Madhya Pradesh police had filed an FIR against Digvijay Singh for sharing a video of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on his twitter handle. As per the reports, Singh shared an edited version of an old video of Chouhan in connection to a statement made on liquor consumption. The case was filed under sections 465, 501, and 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Former minister Umashankar Gupta headed a BJP delegation that submitted a memorandum to the crime branch of Bhopal Police. The complaint mentioned that Chouhan had given a statement against the liquor policy of the Kamal Nath government on 12th January 2020. What Singh shared is only an out-of-context 9-second part of the original 2.19-minute video. They demanded strict action against the Congress leader and his associates for conspiring to defame Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Coronavirus effect: CBSE and ICSE boards cancel their exams for the remaining papers of class 10 and 12

The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) on Thursday informed the Supreme Court that it has cancelled the remaining papers of its Class 10 and 12 board exams. It also said that the board doesn’t agree to give the option to students to write the exam later.

The exams, which were postponed in view of a nationwide lockdown, had been scheduled to be held between July 1 and 14. The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination had given the children appearing for the exams an option to either appear for remaining papers scheduled to be held from July 2 or opt-out.

On Wednesday, the Maharashtra government had told the Bombay High Court that the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) board cannot be permitted to conduct its pending standard 10 and 12 exams in July in view of the current COVID-19 situation.

CBSE class 10 and 12 remaining exams cancelled too

The decision by the ICSE Board comes soon after the CBSE Board declared the cancellation of CBSE Board Class 10 and Class 12 exams which was scheduled from July 1 to 15. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appearing for the centre and CBSE informed the apex court that the central board will not conduct the class 10th examination while the students of Class 12th will be given an option of appearing in exams after conditions are conducive.

Meanwhile, the Court has asked the Centre and the CBSE to issue fresh notifications regarding the class 12 examinations. It has asked the latter to give clarification on the issue of option between internal assessment and exam, the status of state board exams and date of results. The bench will pass its order on the matter on Friday.

The Ministry will also issue a notification in this regard on Friday.

Supreme Court had asked CBSE to consider cancelling exams

On June 17, the Supreme Court of India, while hearing a petition by a parent, told CBSE to consider possibilities to scrap remaining board exam papers of class 10th and 12th. The court suggested allotting marks based on internal assessment.

A three-judge bench, comprising AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari, and Sanjeev Khanna, was hearing a petition filed by a parent Amit Bathla, who requested the court to ask CBSE to scrap remaining exams keeping the present situation in mind. The CBSE was to conduct the remaining exams between 1st July and 15th July.

Sonia Gandhi’s statement to Xinhua News Agency in 2011 confirms Congress’ pact signed with China

The fact that Indian National Congress and Communist Party of China (CPC) signed a pact in 2008 cannot be denied because it was confirmed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi in a written interview with Chinese news agency Xinhua in 2011.

In the 2011 interview with Xinhua News Agency of China, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had referred to the Congress-China pact of 2008. It is interesting to note that while Sonia Gandhi has spoken to a Chinese news agency about the Congress-CPC pact, no official statement on this pact has ever been spoken of in India.

Here are some of the points highlight by Sonia Gandhi in the interview commemorating 90-years of the Communist Party of China:

Congress President Sonia Gandhi said India-China relationship has the potential to become ‘one of the foremost and most substantive relationship’ of the 21st century, observing that it must be a key instrument in shaping the changing world order.

The leaderships of both India and China are engaged in deepening political understanding which fosters respect for each others’ sensitivities.

Such a dialogue should address all vital issues of mutual concern through visits, seminars and a productive exchange of ideas, skills and experiences.

There may be some issues on which both sides have differences of approach and that’s natural given the size and complexity of the two countries.

Currently, India and China are engaged in building a strategic and cooperative partnership and it is significant that China has already emerged as India’s largest trading partner.

The future beckons us to build what has the potential to become one of the foremost and most substantive relationships of the 21st century and one that is of lasting benefit for the people of both our countries.

Call for stepping up exchanges among younger leadership of Congress and Communist Party of China to enhance mutual understanding. Those areas could include infrastructure building, inclusive growth, employment generation and environment protection, among other things.

Recalling her visits to China in 2007 and 2008 as Congress President, she said the Indian National Congress, and CPC had signed an MoU in 2008. One of the key components of MoU was a shared commitment to strengthen exchanges amongst the younger leadership in the two parties.

More visits and exchanges, particularly among the youth wings of the two parties and between students of the two countries, are extremely important. That’s to ensure that the generation of young leaders in China and India know and understand each other well, she said, thus deepening the relationship between the two parties, the two peoples and the two countries.

Stepping up exchanges among younger leadership of Congress and Communist Party of China to enhance mutual understanding. Those areas could include infrastructure building, inclusive growth, employment generation and environment protection, among other things,

The INC and CPC have engaged in useful dialogue and exchanges over the years.

India and China have pursued different paradigms of development as they have different political systems, natural resources and endowments. Both countries have scored many achievements since independence and liberation respectively, but they also face challenges to greater development and prosperity. Both countries have the potential to learn from each other

Noting that the Indian and Chinese governments have played a central role in deepening the bilateral ties, Sonia Gandhi opined that Party-to-Party ties will foster greater mutual understanding between our leadership and our two people, and thereby impart positive momentum to the growth of multi-faceted relations between the two countries.

At the party level, Sonia Gandhi expressed, I believe that we should foster greater cultural and social linkages, especially among the youth, even as we promote trade, investment at the national levels, and international cooperation on multilateral issues of importance to both countries and on which we can adopt a common approach.

Congress continues to maintain a stoic silence over making public the document signed with CPC. GoaChronicle.com team has filed a petition in the Supreme Court asking for Congress to make the document public and for a NIA probe.

Sonia Gandhi has spoken about the Congress – China MoU to a Chinese news agency but has never spoken to Indian media about the contents of this understanding with China – an enemy nation of India.

When Chinese propaganda video passed off scenes from Top Gun as their military exercise video

An old video of the People’s Liberation Army, the armed forces of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) has gone viral on social media in which the Chinese Air Force was caught passing footages of Hollywood movies as its own.

In 2011, the Chinese Armed Forces, which has been lately receiving a lot of wrath from across the world for unleashing savagery against the Indian troops near Ladakh, had tried to pass off a video of the 1986 Hollywood iconic movie “Top Gun” starring Tom Cruise as the footage of a PLA Air Force training exercise.

The China Central Television, the mouthpiece of the Chinese government had shown footage of what they claimed was an air force training exercise conducted on January 23, 2011. The report, which was aired during the evening news broadcast by China Central Television (CCTV), had shown a shot of an “enemy” jet bursting into a giant fireball after being hit by a Chinese fighter plane’s missile.

The video segment was also posted online with all the excitement, which quickly went viral. The People’s Liberation Army Air Force had supposedly integrated the movie into their propaganda footage to show that it was a J-10 fighter which shot the missile at another aircraft during a practice exercise.

However, the social media users and movie enthusiasts were soon quick to point that the footage was actually from the Hollywood movie “Top Gun” and accused the PLA of stealing it to further their false propaganda.

They soon pointed out that the aircraft the J-10 was shown shooting down was an F-5, an American aircraft, directly lifted from the movie “Top Gun”.

The Wall Street Journal had even compared frame-to-frame of the CCTV broadcast and Top Gun, which had led to the conclusion that both the videos were identical.

As soon as they were caught, the People’s Liberation Army had faced a severe embarrassment and were quick to pull the video. However, several Chinese websites and news sites published the videos comparing the uncanny similarities between the news report and the movie, leaving the PLA authorities red-faced.

1962 India-China war was lost due to Nehru, we didn’t even have woollen clothes: Watch viral video of war-hero Air Marshal Denzil Keelor (Retd)

An old video has resurfaced on the internet amidst the ongoing debate over the historical blunders committed by the Congress party, especially during the Nehruvian era, revealing how India under the leadership of the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru lost strategic areas due to the follies committed by him.

In the last few days, a video of Air Marshal Denzil Keelor (Retd.), a war-hero of the 1965 India-Pakistan war, has gone viral on various social media platforms, where the retired Air Marshal shared his personal account on how the lapses committed by Jawaharlal Nehru resulted in India facing an embarrassing defeat at the hands of China in the 1962 India-China war.

In the video posted by WildFilms India in 2015, Air Marshal Denzil Keelor (Retd.) can be heard speaking about the 1962 India-China war and states that India lost the war to China because of Jawaharlal Nehru’s failure. He said how Nehru relied on diplomacy and ignored the armed forces, because of which India lost.

“That War was lost due to Nehru. He relied on diplomacy and neglected the Armed Forces. We didn’t even have woolen clothing when we were pushed into hills. Aircraft weren’t allowed to operate. We could have taken on China, we had our bases. He messed up the whole thing and we paid a heavy price for it,” said Air Marshal Denzil Keelor (Retd.) highlighting the leadership failures of the then Prime Minister Nehru during the 1962 Indo-China war.

In the video, the former Air Marshal also said that the government does not want the public to know about their failures as the war was lost due to political failures.

The nearly five-year-old video has now gone viral on the internet amidst the backdrop of a rising debate in the country over the cost India has been paying due to the strategic blunders that were committed during the Nehruvian era.

Manmohan govt was considering demilitarisation of Siachen

Earlier, former Chief of Army Staff General (Retd) JJ Singh made an explosive revelation stating how the Congress government in 2006 was under ‘pressure’, possibly from the United States to cede territories of Siachen glacier to Pakistan in a bid to settle disputes.

The disclosures made by the former Army Chief General JJ Singh regarding the intention of UPA-I to cede strategic territories such as Siachen to Pakistan was in line with a similar statement made by former Foreign Secretary Shyam Sharan, who too had revealed how UPA and Congress party was willing to compromise India’s territorial integrity on several occasions.

Earlier, we had also reported on how the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had missed an opportunity to take control of strategically important Coco Islands, which are now under Chinese control causing a national security concern to the country.

Locals of China Mukku in Kerala seek to change the name of their place after Galwan valley clash

A small place in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta district which has been named after China by none other than the first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru is now seeking a change in its name post the Galwan valley clash. The locals at the Konni gram panchayat want to change the name of China Mukku (China junction) in Konni that has been a major embarrassment for the people, after the relations between both the countries worsened following the standoff at the LAC.

Konni Panchayat Vice-President Praveen Plavilayil has reportedly given a memorandum in the regard to the panchayat for moving a resolution. He wrote, “The name should be replaced in the wake of a warlike situation created by China and the martyrdom of Indian soldiers. After Galwan, people here don’t feel like saying that name. Many want to change it.”

The panchayat president of Konni, Rajani stated that the panchayat is planning to move a resolution in this regard and send a proposal to the state government for changing the name of this place. She said, “It seems there won’t be much resistance from any parties, including CPM, to the proposal for a name change as the local people also share a similar mood.”

Congress MP Adoor Prakash who represented the Konni assembly for 23 years informed when and how the place was named after China. He said, “Nehru was passing through an area in an open jeep. Congress flags were fluttering all over among buildings along the streets in most areas, but when his jeep reached a particular area, he saw only red flags everywhere. It was a communist-dominated area. Nehru asked a person sitting next to him whether it is China junction. Ever since the junction has been called China Mukku.”

No alternative has been decided to replace the name yet. After the panchayat will pass the resolution to change the name, the state government will finally decide on the matter. Reportedly, Congress-led UDF has a majority in panchayat panel with 13 UDF members out of the total 18 and the remaining five members belong to LDF.

Coronavirus: Why are Indian babas judged differently from Teresa’s miracle cures?

Would you believe what this is? This is an official celebration for humanity finding a cure for cancer. Luckily for us, the cure is cheap. Close your eyes and pray to one “St. Teresa” who, despite being dead, is apparently sitting in a place called “heaven,” available and listening to us. The method has already worked for two people worldwide. A small sample if you ask me, nevertheless…

What makes science and rationalism such a wonderful thing? Because, in science, only truth matters. The outcome of the experiment is everything. Nothing else is relevant: not the colour of your skin, not your religion, your gender, your caste, your country, the language you speak, nothing. That is why science has done amazing things, from antibiotics to fertilizer to editing genes. Science makes it possible for human beings to fly through the sky in metal tubes, or for them to sit at their desks, click a button and speak instantly to someone on the other side of the world.

But this works only as long as we apply the standard equally to everyone. The other day an Indian baba, who wears saffron, said he had something to treat the Coronavirus. Think about the kind of mocking reception it received from our educated elite.

Now, I will not go into the veracity of his claims. I am only talking about how his announcements were received. Remember science only works when the standards are the same for everyone.

But, was it? In fact, the Govt of India sent a Cabinet minister to the celebrations in the Vatican. The Chief Minister of West Bengal was also present to grace the occasion. The Govt of Kerala also sent a couple of ministers to the event. A large contingent of Indian intellectuals also welcomed the event.

At the time, I remember no widespread mocking from either side of the political divide. It was as if our collective scientific temper had taken a break.

When we create a double standard in debunking unscientific claims, we end up projecting our inferiority complex on the global stage. And from there it becomes fodder for the anti-Hindu global network. Take this video from Al Jazeera, the mouthpiece of the Islamic state of Qatar, talking about how Hindu groups “widely circulated” cow urine as a cure for the Coronavirus!

First of all, was it really widely circulated? From what I remember, it was a reality TV star and a couple of his guys doing something to get attention. But this did not matter. The saffron banners used by them activated the anti-Hindu predatory instincts of the Indian and global elite. The Indian elite engaged in loud and over the top condemnations of an irrelevant event organized by a handful of attention seekers. The global elite lapped it up gleefully and now Hindus have been branded as people who drink cow urine in hope of curing Coronavirus. This will now have cultural implications for Hindus worldwide. And possibly economic implications as well, because it affects India’s brand.

We have a billion Hindus in India. A handful of them will believe almost anything. Why do we let others use them to brand us all? In fact, why do Indian elites actively participate in this vilification campaign?

By some counts, there were 300,000 Catholics at the Vatican that day, celebrating Teresa’s miracle cure for cancer. Much more than the number of people who showed up to the cow urine party. But was Christianity’s global brand affected by this organized celebration of superstition? Absolutely not!

Why? Something to think about there.

Take the current pandemic.

Article from News18

That was in the middle of March. Apparently, god has other stuff to do. It’s not easy being god. Meanwhile, we have to manage by ourselves.

But did these antics affect the global brand of Christianity? Absolutely not. In fact, if you think about it, it is simply astonishing what the Church gets away with. The so-called Holy Father gets to have his own sovereign nation, recognized by every other country, with diplomats and everything, in the same way as India recognizes the United States. As Supreme Leader of a sovereign nation, he enjoys the status of a Head of State. The Vatican has been accused of everything, from collaborating with Nazis to covering up child abuse, but the “sovereignty” of the Vatican prevents anyone from doing anything about it.

How did they get that sovereign control over the Vatican? Well, it was a gift from Mussolini. Who else?

Imagine if a saffron wearing baba was getting away with all this. Imagine what the Indian and global elite would have said.

I challenge you to give me one reason that makes the claims of the Catholic Church more scientific than those of any saffron clad baba in any corner of India.

Just one. Take your time.

Bengal: TMC leader’s husband accused of molestation and pushing a girl’s mother to death, party slanders victim’s character

In a shocking incident, a woman in her 50s was killed on Tuesday, after she was pushed off the stairs while trying to save her daughter from two molesters. The incident happened at Bagnan in Howrah district, West Bengal. The prime accused, Kush Bera, is the husband of a local Trinamool Congress (TMC) Panchayat leader, Ruma Bera.

In what transpired, a 22-year-old college-going girl was allegedly attacked on the terrace of her house late on Tuesday night, allegedly by her two neighbours, including the husband of a local Trinamool panchayat leader. “I went to the roof of our house around 11.30 pm on Tuesday. Suddenly, someone pulled my leg and I slumped on the roof. Another person gagged me with his hands. I somehow removed his hands and screamed for help”, police quoted the victim as saying.

After she raised an alarm, the victims mother rushed to the terrace to rescue her. The miscreants allegedly pushed the lady, who then fell rolling down the stairs and sustained grievous injuries on her head. “My mother came to my rescue. There were two people, both are locals. One of them was Kush Bera, the husband of local TMC panchayat leader. They pushed my mother. We took her to a local hospital and later was referred to Uluberia hospital where she died,” claimed the alleged victim.

TMC leader defends her husband while slandering the victim’s character

Kush Bera’s wife, who is a TMC panchayat member defended her husband and accused the woman of trying to frame him up. The TMC leader, Ruma Bera even questioned the character of the 22-year-old girl.

BJP protests, demands immediate action

Meanwhile, BJP MPs Locket Chatterjee and Soumitra Kha, who went to Gopalpur village in Bagnan to meet with the alleged victim, demanded immediate action against the culprits. BJP leaders and workers also blocked the National Highway 6 in protest, demanding justice.

“We all know how cases are botched up in Bengal. A woman was molested and her mother has been murdered. The state government should not try to fake the death as Covid-19 death because the accused is the husband of a TMC leader. We demand justice or else our protest will intensify in coming days,” threatened Locket Chatterjee.

TMC insinuates that the victim was in an illegitimate relation with TMC leader’s husband

Trinamool Congress party soon countered the allegations saying that BJP is trying to politicise the incident to gain brownie points ahead of the elections in Howrah. While Trinamool minister and local MLA Arup Roy, assured police action he also insinuated that the victim was in an illegitimate relation with Kush Bera, the main accused. He alleged that the deceased mother of the alleged victim had caught the duo red-handed and whatever happened was an outcome of that.

Sonia Gandhi headed Rajiv Gandhi Foundation had received Rs 10 lakh as ‘donation’ from China in 2006: Read details

According to a document available on Chinese Embassy in India website, the then Chinese Ambassador to India to India Sun Yuxi had donated Rs 10 lakhs to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, which has links to the Congress party and is run by Congress leaders.

Image Source: Chinese Embassy in India

“To show the friendly sentiments of the Chinese people towards the Indian people, Mr. Sun Yuxi, Chinese Ambassador to India, on behalf of China Charity Foundation, donated 10 lakhs rupees to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation on January 27 to give financial assistance to its charities,” the Chinese Embassy in India website reads.

Manmohan Malhoutra, who was the Secretary-General of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation at that time, had received the funds on behalf of the Sonia Gandhi-controlled Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.

It is pertinent to note that it is none other than Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, who heads the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. Along with Sonia Gandhi, Gandhi-scion Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, P Chidambaram and Priyanka Gandhi are also the trustees of the foundation.

The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, which was established in 1991, claims to work on a range of issues including literacy, health, disability, empowerment of the underprivileged, livelihoods and natural resource management.

It is, however, intriguing to know why would Congress-party controlled Rajiv Gandhi Foundation recieve such a large sum from China, especially at a time when the Congress-ruled UPA government was in power in 2006.

The latest revelation of Congress accepting funds from China will provide more fuel to the ruling BJP’s attack against the Congress party, who are already at facing a lot of heat over their alleged links with the Communist Party of China.

Controversial ‘secret-deal’ between Communist Party of China and the Congress party.

A huge political controversy has erupted in the country after it was found out that the Congress party had signed a ‘secret-deal’ with the Communist Party of China (CPC) on August 7 in 2008 in Beijing for exchanging high-level information and co-operation between them.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) also provided the two parties with the “opportunity to consult each other on important bilateral, regional and international developments”.

At that time, Congress party was leading the UPA-I govt in India and Sonia Gandhi was the chairperson of the National Advisory Council, which acted as the super cabinet over the Manmohan Singh led govt. The agreement was signed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Wang Jia Rui, Minister in the international department of the CPC, in the presence of Sonia Gandhi and the then Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping.

The agreement signed by the Congress party with China’s Communist Party has gained significance after the recent stand-off between India and China at the Galwan valley along the LAC in Ladakh.
