Vijayawada: Raids on meat shops adulterating mutton with beef, license of three shops cancelled and 200 kg adulterated meat seized

0

The veterinary wing of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Friday conducted surprise inspections at meat shops and canceled the licenses of three shops that were mixing beef with mutton.

According to the reports, the veterinary wing chief Nuthalapati Sridhar had received complaints from the locals and conducted surprise inspections at multiple locations. On receiving several complaints, the VMC had decided to investigate the claims of mixing of beef in mutton by the butchers across the city.

The special teams headed by a veterinary assistant surgeon (VAS) Sridhar carried out surprise checks at Moghalrajpuram, Ayodhya Nagar, Jammi Chettu Centre and near Amma Kalyana Mandapam and seized 200 kg of adulterated meat. The civic body also imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on all three shops and canceled the trade licenses.

“People should be cautious while purchasing meat. One should check the seal of the civic body along with the date of slaughter. We will continue inspections in the city and take stringent actions on meat traders in the coming days,” Sridhar said.

Reportedly, the butchers allegedly mixed beef with mutton as a measure to earn quick money as beef is much cheaper than mutton. The beef is available at an affordable price of Rs 250 to Rs 300 per kg, in comparison to the mutton being sold at approximately Rs 500 to Rs 600 per kg in Vijayawada.

The VAS said that a continuous seven-day drive has already begun to sensitise the butchers to encourage their customers to bring steel utensils for carrying the meat, in order to stop the circulation of single-use plastic bags. He added that a notice will be given to each shop, containing a list of measures to be taken upon their respective premises, including selling of meat in a clean and hygienic atmosphere.

The action by the Vijayawada authorities was perhaps prompted after there were reports that illegal beef trade had rampantly increased in the state. Recently, the Andhra Pradesh police had busted a beef smuggling racket and seized about 10 tonnes of suspected beef.

The meat was being smuggled in a container from Visakhapatnam to Chennai and the vehicle driver and cleaner were taken into custody. During the investigation, the accused confessed that the meat smuggling gang has been operating for the last few years.

Earlier today, the police remand report had revealed chilling details about the brutal gang-rape and murder of Dr Preeti Reddy (name changed). The police reportedly also have reasons to believe that she was sexually assaulted even after she had died.

On 27th November, as Preeti Reddy (name changed) was returning home from work a little after 8 pm to pick her vehicle, she noticed a flat tyre. She immediately called her sister, who suggested that she leave her two-wheeler at the toll plaza and take a cab home. Before she could, two men approached her, who offered to take her vehicle for repair.

The woman was then ambushed and dragged into the bushes by the accused barely 50 metres from Tondupally toll plaza behind a line of trucks that was parked near the road. Her charred body was found under an underpass next morning.

Assam: 84 people murdered in witch-hunting cases between 2011-16, 23 since BJP came to power

0

A total of 107 people have been killed in Assam since 2011 due to witch-hunting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary informed the state Assembly on Saturday. Of the 107, eighty-four people died during the five years of the Congress government and twenty-three people died since May, 2016 when the BJP was elected to power in the state.

“Between 2011 and May 2016, before the BJP-led government came to power in the state, around 84 people were killed in witch-hunting incidents. From June 2016 till October this year, at least 23 more were killed in similar incidents,” Patowary said in reply to a question from Congress MLA Nandita Das.

“Lower Assam’s Kokrajhar district registered the highest number of witch-hunting cases, with 22 people killed in such incidents, from 2011 to October this year. Neighboring Chirang registered the second-highest (19) witch-hunting cases during the same period,” said an official report. The report also said that cases of witch-hunting were recorded in at least 21 districts of the state, however, the maximum number of cases were registered in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD).

The Assam Witch Hunting (Prohibition, Prevention and Protection) Act, 2015 was notified by the state government in October, last year and numerous steps are being undertaken to spread awareness about the issue in the state, Patowary said. Of the 23 killed during the BJP regime, 12 were men and 11 of them were women.

Londonistan: Where a ‘Hero’ who fought terrorists was put on ‘terror watch’ and convicted terrorists walk free

London witnessed another knife attack inspired by Radical Islamic Terrorism as two people were murdered by a Muslim of Pakistani origin. The 28-year-old Usman Khan had earlier been convicted on charges of terrorism but was later released from jail. He was believed to have been ‘reformed’.

One of the conditions for his release from jail was that he would keep himself away from London. However, the probation officers gave him an exemption to visit the capital to attend an ex-prisoner’s conference organized by Cambridge University. Usman Khan was ultimately tackled to the ground by bystanders before being shot by the Police.

Usman Khan’s case is symptomatic of the disease that has taken over the West. If proper procedures had been followed, he would have never been able to perpetuate the terror attack in London. He should have been rotting in jail. Worse, the bystanders who thwarted Khan’s attack might well be put on a terror-watch list themselves. It has happened in the past.

Roy Larner, a Hero by all accounts, had fought off Jihadists armed with long knives in 2017 with his bare fists, allowing dozens of his fellow citizens to escape. He sustained severe stab wounds that forced him to remain in the hospital for 12 days and required 80 stitches to heal. For his heroic efforts, he was put on a government ‘terror watchlist’ after being contacted by ‘far right anti-Islam’ personalities.

The British authorities forced him to attend “de-radicalization” classes “over fears he may become extremist” against Islam after being stabbed eight times by Islamic terrorists. Larner was also being monitored by the Police under the “Prevent” program of Britain. Authorities told the Daily Mail, ‘Prevent safeguards people who may be vulnerable to being drawn into terrorism. It is entirely up to an individual whether they accept the support offered through Prevent. The support people receive through Prevent is rightly confidential and it would not be appropriate to comment on whether or not an individual has been offered support.’

The manner in which Roy Larner and Usman Khan were treated by the authorities in London reveal perfectly why the capital city of the United Kingdom has acquired the reputation of being ‘Londonistan’ in recent times. The London Police, too, has been more concerned about Islamophobia than dealing with the incomparably greater threat of Radical Islam.

The United Kingdom has been extremely soft towards the threat of Radical Islam. Authorities have actively covered up the menace of Muslim Grooming Gangs. And this has led to a situation where terror attacks and crimes that could otherwise very well have been prevented continue to claim the lives of the innocent.

Bishop Franco case: Sister Lucy’s autobiography recounts rampant sexual abuse in churches, reveals ‘unholy’ practices of priests

0

Sister Lucy Kalappura, one of the nuns who stood up against the alleged sexual atrocities of rape-accused Bishop Franco and got expelled from the congregation after taking part in a protest seeking the arrest of rape-accused Bishop, has come out with her autobiography in which she recounts sexual abuses and aberrations prevalent in convents.

The nun, who belongs to the order of Franciscan Clarist Congregation in Kerala, was hounded for raising her voice against rape-accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal, narrates her life experiences and talks about sexual abuse and harassment of nuns in the book titled ‘Karthaavinte Naamathil (In The Name of The Lord)’.

According to the reports, the book reveals how Sister Lucy was a silent witness to many incidents where nuns have tried to give expression to their sexual desires. In the book, the nun reveals that many of the nuns have ‘unholy’ relationships with priests who are in authority and added that the priests encourage such relationships. She writes that she has heard of instances where priests have sexual relationships with nuns.

Karthavinte Namathil

The book also writes regarding how the priests try to abuse not only nuns but also young girls as well. Narrating an incident, Sister Lucy said once she had asked a friend’s daughter to approach a priest to clear a few doubts that the girl had with regard to her studies. However, the priest had allegedly indulged in sexual harassment with the girl on the pretext of helping the young girl. The girl was shocked by the priest’s conversation and complained to her mother. The priest was forced to apologise for his behaviour, Sister Lucy Kalappura writes in her book.

She further writes in her book stating that one of her fellow nuns told her that a priest abused her inside a church. Sister Lucy writes about the abuse young nuns face from priests and elder nuns. Further, she claims that homosexuality is rampant among nuns and priests.

Read- The long saga of the Vatican protecting priests with history of sexual abuse

Reportedly, the book talks about consensual sexual relationships between priests and nuns in convents, and misuse of positions by priests and bishops to sexually abuse the nuns. Sister Lucy further writes that there are also cases where young nuns are subjected to homosexuality in convents by senior nuns. Fighting the mental dilemma, the nuns have to silently carry these crosses within the four walls of their convents. They are also constantly stalked by so-called ‘counselors’ who exploit their predicament, she adds.

In narrating another incident, she says, “There used to be a priest who taught at a college and resided near a convent. He used to have a room for himself at the convent. The priest, who used to conduct counseling on safe sexual practices, did not restrict himself to mere counseling as far as the nuns were concerned. Fed up with his “practical” sessions, one of the nuns complained to her friend. But he too was helpless. The torture ended only when he retired and left the place.”

“The experiences I know of, that some of my sisters have been through, are horrendous. I am aware of some convents, where young novice nuns are sent to priests for their ‘pleasure’ as a matter of practice. They were made to pose nude for the priests for hours. They wouldn’t be permitted to leave even when they plead,” writes the nun in the book.

In another account, she says, “A priest, fresh out of the Seminary, and subjected to homosexuality at the priests’ residence, grew mentally ill and finally gave up the priesthood in disgust. Similar was the case with a novice priest, who recently narrated his tale to me. One of the office-bearers of the seminary forced himself upon the young boy, and when he resisted, tied him to the bedpost and satisfied his lust.”

The book, with 36 chapters, is replete with accounts like this and will be out in the first week of December. The instances of sexual abuse by priests that Sister Lucy Kalappura recounts in the book is reminiscent of the incidents that another former nun, Sister Jesme, penned in her autobiography ‘Amen: An autobiography of a nun’.

Franco Mulakkal, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jalandhar, was accused of raping a 44-year-old nun at a guest house in Kuravilangad in May 2014 and subsequent sexual exploitations afterward. The nun had registered a complaint in June 2018 and has also claimed that despite her complaints, the church took no action on the bishop.

Sister Lucy is one of the five nuns who led the protests against Bishop Franco last year, who had alleged that there are efforts being carried out to sabotage evidence to protect rape-accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal.

In a bid to silence the protesting nurse, the Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) had written to the family of another protesting nun – Sister Lucy Kalapurakkal to take her back home after she was expelled from the congregation. Sister Lucy Kalapurakkal had last year supported the victim nun and had demanded the arrest of rape-accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who headed the Roman Catholic Diocese in Jalandhar.

The four nuns who had supported the rape survivor nun were asked to leave the Kuravilangad convent, and go to convents, previously assigned to them. Apart from threats and intimidation, Father Kuriakose who had testified against Bishop Franco was found dead under mysterious circumstances.

Notorious Pakistani politician and cleric, Khadim Hussain Rizvi, spews venom against Sikhs in sermon

Founder of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), Khadim Hussain Rizvi, recently delivered an objectionable sermon against Sikhs and the Kartarpur Corridor. He said that Pakistan wasn’t created to set up Sikh Universities or open corridors for them and whoever loves Sikhs so much should cross over to Amritsar.

Rizvi is a notorious Pakistani cleric infamous for his role in the violent protests in Pakistan in 2017. The widespread protests, which resulted in the death of at least six and injured another 200 at the very least, were organized in response to a minor change to the oath taken by candidates in elections involving a declaration that revolved around Prophet Muhammad. This change was interpreted as benefiting the Ahmadi sect.

Sensing public anger, the Pakistani government immediately rescinded its decision deeming it to be a ‘clerical error’. However, the protests continued and protesters marched on the streets demanding the resignation of the Law Minister for alleged blasphemy. Ultimately, the protests were called off only after the Minister submitted his resignation.

Last year, Rizvi gave a call for protests after the acquittal of Asia Bibi who was accused of blasphemy. Eventually, he was arrested alongwith scores of members of his political party and he was booked under charges of sedition and terrorism. The TLP had also protested against Dutch politician Geert Wilders for announcing a ‘Prophet Muhammad cartoon competition’ and demanded that the Dutch ambassador be expelled from the country. The TLP also demanded that all diplomatic relationships with the Netherlands are severed and Rizvi had also put a Fatwa on Wilders’ head. The event was eventually canceled.

Rizvi’s party was founded after the killer of Aatish Taseer’s father, Salman Taseer, was hanged to death following his conviction. Rizvi had vehemently spoken in favour of Mumtaz Qadri and even organized protests demanding his release.

India’s apex anti-corruption body, Lokpal, has been paying Rs 50 lakh rent per month as it is occupying 12 rooms in government-owned Hotel Ashok as office space, reports the Hindustan Times. As per the report, an RTI reply has revealed that since the Lokpal is provisionally operating out of the five-star hotel, a total of Rs 3 crore 85 lakh has been paid for rent as fixed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT).

Telangana: Three policemen suspended for delay in registering missing person report of the Shamshabad rape-murder victim

0

The Cyberabad police on Saturday suspended three policemen, including a sub-inspector, for delaying to register a missing person case of the 26-year-old veterinary doctor, who was brutally gang-raped and murdered by four men on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Wednesday.

According to the reports, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC  Sajjanar said the police personnel were suspended for dereliction of duty. A detailed inquiry has found that they delayed the registration of an FIR relating to the missing woman on the intervening night of November 27 and 28, the commissioner said.

The suspended police personnel are M Ravi Kumar, Sub-Inspector of Police, Shamshabad Police Station, P Venu Gopal Reddy and A Sathyanarayana Goud, both head-constables at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Police Station.

“All the officers of Cyberabad Police have been once again instructed to register cases irrespective of jurisdiction whenever a complaint related to cognisable offence is received at the police station,” said the Commissioner.

Earlier, serious questions were raised against the conduct of Telangana police after the parents of the deceased woman accused the police of willfully neglecting their complaint. Reportedly, the police allegedly disbelieved the parents of Preeti Reddy when they complained about missing daughter.

Reddy’s parents have stated to media that when they insisted that their daughter might be in trouble, the police officer speaking to them had stated that their daughter must have eloped with someone. They said the police wasted a lot of time over jurisdiction issue between two police stations, besides asking them inappropriate questions.

The family members said that they first approached the RGIA police station from where they were directed to go to Shamshabad police station. Reportedly, the policemen had reportedly said that the area in which crime was committed was not under their jurisdiction.

“The police spoke to us very rudely, in a disgusting manner. They kept saying she would have gone with someone. I kept saying my daughter is not like that, but they didn’t listen. Their apathy cost us our daughter, they didn’t do what they should have,” the parents had said.

A controversy had also erupted after Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali on Friday had indulged in an outrageous act of victim shaming. Speaking to the media, Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Telangana Home Minister said the deceased woman who was a doctor should have dialled the emergency police contact first rather than contacting her sister.

Meanwhile, the National Commissioner for Women (NCW) has taken cognizance of the horrific event and sent a team headed by panel member Shyamala K Sundar to look into the case.

The NCW has slammed the police for delaying the inquiry. the NCW members said that the police played a ‘negative role’ in the investigation. They further asked the state government to start the State Women’s Commission with immediate effect.

The NCW members also pointed out that there were no women officers in the team probing the case and police did not give protection to the family.

The Case:

On Wednesday night, a 27-year-old veterinarian Dr Preeti Reddy (name changed) was brutally raped and murdered and her body was set ablaze on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Four people have been reportedly arrested in connection with the case.

According to the reports, the four accused had pre-planned the crime after they had noticed that the victim had parked her two-wheeler at the Tondupally toll plaza. The accused assumed that the lady would come to pick it up later in the evening. The accused then deflated the tyre of the two-wheeler.

As Preeti Reddy (name changed) was returning home from work a little after 8 pm to pick her vehicle, she noticed a flat tyre. She immediately called her sister, who suggested that she leave her two-wheeler at the toll plaza and take a cab home. Before she could do that, two men approached her, who offered to take her vehicle for repair.

The woman was allegedly ambushed and dragged into the bushes by the accused barely 50 metres from Tondupally toll plaza behind a line of trucks that was parked near the road. Her charred body was found under an underpass on Thursday morning.

According to police, the accused took her body to an under-construction bridge a few kilometres away and set it on fire. The police stated that the victim’s innerwear and some other objects including an alcohol bottle found around 100 metres from the spot led them to believe she was sexually assaulted before being killed.

The Telangana police have also confirmed that Preeti Reddy (name changed) was kidnapped and gang-raped. The police confirmed that a lorry driver named Mohammad Pasha from Narayanpet in Mahababub Nagar district was allegedly the main suspect. Media reports are now saying that rape has been confirmed in post mortem analysis.

The other accused, identified as Naveen from Gudigandla, cleaner Kesavulu, and an assistant named Siva have also been arrested. The incident has sparked massive outrage among the public over the never-ending cases of sexual violence against women.

India will remember the wound inflicted by Gen Bajwa by opening Kartarpur Corridor and winning over Sikh community: Pakistan Railway Minister

The apprehensions raised by the Indian security establishment about Kartarpur corridor being used by the terrorist state of Pakistan to push Khalistani terrorism seems to have been proved right as a top minister of Pakistan government has revealed that the opening of the historic Kartarpur corridor was the brainchild of Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to ‘hurt India forever’.

According to the reports, Pakistan’s Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid, a known motormouth considered to be a close aide of Prime Minister Khan, said that the Kartarpur Corridor will hurt India. While Pakistani media has reported that this step of ‘peace and love’ by Gen. Bajwa has ‘won over’ the Sikh community in India it may also be an indication that the corridor may be used by Pakistan Army and ISI to create more instability in the country by reviving Khalistani terror around the areas of Indian state of Punjab.

Earlier, Pakistani government had claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan had initiated the construction of Kartarpur Corridor. However, Pakistan Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid has now said that the Kartarpur corridor is the brainchild of Army chief General Bajwa.

“India will remember forever the kind wound inflicted on it by Gen Bajwa by opening Kartarpur corridor,” he said. “Gen Bajwa strongly hit India by opening the corridor. Through this project, Pakistan has created a new environment of peace and won itself, love of the Sikh community,” he said.

On November 9, Pakistan Prime Minister Khan had inaugurated the Kartarpur corridor to facilitate the visa-free entry of Indian Sikh pilgrims to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev.

Inaugurating the corridor, Imran Khan had told a gathering of over 12,000 devotees which included Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu and former Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, “I had no idea of the importance this place holds. I found out a year ago. I am happy we could do this for you”.

Ever since the proposal to develop the Kartarpur corridor came up between India and Pakistan, the Indian security agencies have been raising strong concerns regarding the national security implications of the project. The Indian intelligence agencies are very much apprehensive about Pakistan’s over-eagerness to open Kartarpur corridor as it provides an opportunity for the terror state to “exploit Sikh sentiments to support Khalistan agenda” in India.

The Indian security establishment had raised concerns against the opening of Kartarpur corridor after they had accessed information that terrorists being trained near the border district of Narowal in Pakistan’s Punjab province, the same district where Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara is situated.

The reports of terror camps near the Indian border comes months after a Pakistani spy, part of a larger espionage network, was caught by the military intelligence from Gurdaspur in Punjab. The accused Pakistani spy was sending photographs and information related to the construction of Kartarpur corridor to his handlers in Pakistan through his WhatsApp number raising doubts about Pakistan’s intention to build the corridor.

Earlier, the Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh had also warned the country about Pakistan’s treacherous plans to use the Kartarpur corridor to inflict terror on India, especially by reviving Khalistani terror. Captain Amarinder Singh had reiterated his position on the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor by Pakistan. He claimed that it is an ISI ploy to strengthen anti-India forces, including the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).

Not only that, ahead of the inauguration of the corridor, in an act of provocation against India, Pakistan had featured Khalistani terrorists and anti-Indian elements including Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in its official song to welcome Sikh pilgrims to Kartarpur Sahib. Kartarpur Sahib is believed to be built where Guru Nanak had died.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had released a video of the official Punjabi song welcoming Sikh pilgrims to Pakistan for the Kartarpur Corridor, which displays posters of Khalistani separatist leaders Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Maj Gen Shabeg Singh and Amrik Singh Khalsa in the background.
