India lodges strong protest after China denies entry to 3 athletes from Arunachal for Asian Games in Hangzhou, sports minister cancels visit

India registered a strong protest against China for barring 3 Arunachal Pradesh athletes from competing in the upcoming Asian Games 2023 that are scheduled to take place in Hangzhou in China. India’s three leading female wushu players, Nyeman Wangsu, Onilu Tega and Mepung Lamgu, who are from Arunachal Pradesh, were forced to pull out from the competition after not receiving clearance from the host country because China claims that Arunachal Pradesh is its own territory.

The three players were scheduled to fly to China as part of an 11-member wushu contingent – 7 male and 4 female athletes – on a Cathay Pacific flight on Wednesday night from IGI airport in New Delhi. However, they had to stay back as they didn’t get the necessary clearance to enter China from the Chinese authorities. They have been accommodated at Sports Authority of India’s JLN hostel till the issue of their participation is resolved.

An official of the Wushu Association of India (WAI) said, “Their clearances have not arrived to enter China. We, at the federation, were unable to download their accreditation cards for the Asian Games while the remaining members of the team could download theirs without any issues. The accreditation card acts as your visa. So, we decided to leave without them, hoping they could join the team before the competitions begin.”

The official added, “Once the athletes received the accreditation cards from the organising committee, it meant that they have been cleared to travel for the Asian Games. But surprisingly only these three players could not download their document and they could not board the flight.”

Confirming the development, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that China does not recognise the “so-called Arunachal Pradesh,” claiming that Zangnan (southern part of Southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region) is part of China’s territory. She added that China welcomes athletes from all countries to come to Hangzhou to participate in the Asian Games with legal documents.

India has strongly responded to the incident, stating that China’s action violated both the spirit of the Asian Games and the rules governing their conduct, which explicitly prohibits discrimination against competitors from member states.

” Government of India reserves the right to take suitable measures to safeguard our interests,” the Ministry of External Affairs said on China denying accreditation to sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, stated in a statement that “India firmly rejects differential treatment of Indian citizens on the basis of domicile or ethnicity. Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India.”

A strong protest has been lodged in New Delhi and Beijing against China’s deliberate and selective obstruction of some of our sportspersons. China’s action violates both the spirit of the Asian Games and the rules governing their conduct, which explicitly prohibits discrimination against competitors from member states, the statement added.

The MEA further added that Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur’s visit to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou was called off as a mark of protest against China’s actions.

This is the second such incident in the past two months involving the same athletes. In July, China issued stapled visas to the players from Arunachal to participate in the World University Games in Chengdu, China. The purpose of stapled visas is to demonstrate that China rejects India’s assertion of sovereignty over Arunachal Pradesh, and therefore refuses to stamp visas on the Indian passports of people from Arunachal. The eight-person Wushu team later withdrew from the Chengdu competition in protest against the same.

China regularly issues stapled visas instead of stamped visas to residents of Arunachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and says it is a valid document to travel to China. However, the Indian government does not accept this.

Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister from Arunachal Pradesh, strongly condemned China over the development, saying it violates both the spirit of Sports & also the Rules governing the conduct of Asian Games, which explicitly prohibits discrimination against competitors from member states.

“Arunachal Pradesh is not a disputed territory but inalienable part of India. Entire people of Arunachal Pradesh resolutely oppose any illegal claim of China on it’s land and people. International Olympic Committee should reign in China’s illegitimate action,” Rijiju tweeted.

Bhupendra Singh Bajwa, the president of the Wushu Association of India (WAI) and India’s chef de mission for the Asian Games raised the issue with the HAGOC and the Olympic Council of Asia on 21 September. A letter from WAI regarding the three denials of “valid accreditation cards” was sent to the Asian and global bodies.

The official conveyed, “Our chef-de-mission, Bhupendra Singh Bajwa, has already taken up the matter with the Asian Games organising committee while the Indian government has also been apprised of the matter. Bajwa has reached the Athletes’ Village in Hangzhou and will be discussing the matter with the organisers, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). In fact, Bajwa and Indian Olympic Association’s joint secretary and acting CEO Kalyan Chaubey had met the Chinese ambassador in Delhi some time ago to discuss the difficulty faced by some athletes in securing accreditation.”

Another official proclaimed, “There has been no response yet from the organisers and the OCA.” The players are still holding out hope that they can make it within the next two days because the wushu tournaments begin on 24 September. The three athletes reportedly visited with cabinet minister Kiren Rijiju and asked him to look into the matter.

A Wushu coach voiced, “They will lose an opportunity of a lifetime if they cannot compete. They have already missed a big event in the World University Games. They have requested Mr Rijiju that India should lodge a strong protest and if necessary, boycott the opening ceremony in protest if they are not given permission to travel.”

Rijiju held talks with senior government officials after the meeting in an effort to hasten the issue’s settlement. Sources indicated that the sports ministry later met in the evening and decided to approach the situation diplomatically.

The wushu competitions will be held from September 24 to 28 at the Guali Cultural & Sports Centre in Xiaoshan district.

Arunachal Pradesh residents first received stapled visas from China in the middle of the 2000s, and in 2009 the practise was expanded to include Jammu & Kashmir citizens. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi argued that stapled visas “do not undermine or compromise our respective positions on the border question” while visiting India in 2014. India stopped using the term “one China” policy in official papers more than ten years ago in response to these actions.

The 19th edition of the Asian Games started on 19 September, but the official opening ceremony will be held on 23 September. The greatest athletes in the continent are set to compete for gold from 23 September to 8 October at the Asian Games 2023.

Out of the entire 61 disciplines, 655 Indian competitors would battle it out throughout the course of 20 days. Indians have consistently performed well at the Asian Games, which are a major competition. India set a record at the 2018 Asian Games by winning 70 medals and is hoping to surpass that total this year. The Asian Games games would be played across 56 venues in China’s Hangzhou.

While giving more information about this operation, a police official said, “An incident of assault on a woman police head constable took place in the Saryu express on the night between 29th and 30th August. A case in this regard was registered in the Ayodhya Cantt police station under sections 332, 307, and 354 of the Indian Penal Code. During investigations, section 394 was also added in this case.”

He further said, “The teams of Special Task Force were deployed to solve this case. Various information was being shared between the teams and the Ayodhya district police. Based on technical and manual information, the STF had identified a suspect by showing a photograph to the victim woman. In further developments, they shared the information with the Ayodhya police.”

The police official further said, “The STF and police teams raided a place under the Inayat Nagar police station in this case and tried to arrest the accused. The accused fired on the police teams. The police team fired in retaliation and arrested two accused, who were injured on the spot.”

He added, “One of the accused escaped at the time of firing. A coordinated search operation was launched to catch the accused. A team of STF and police was continuously following him. The said accused was marked by the police once again in the area under the Purakalandar police station. When the police asked him to surrender, he fired on the police. The accused got injured in the cross-firing. He was then brought to the district hospital.”

The police further said, “During the medical treatment at the district hospital, one of the accused Anees Khan – son of Riyaz Khan – who was a resident of the area under the Haiderganj police station succumbed to the injuries and died. Two other injured accused are identified as Azad son of Mukhtar resident of Haiderganj and Vishambhar Dayal son of Premnarayan resident of Sultanpur. They are receiving the treatment now.”

OpIndia visited the encounter location

The OpIndia team visited the encounter site. A forensic team was examining the spot. In the information collected from the police sources on the spot, it was found that Anees Khan killed in the encounter used a motorcycle to escape from the police arrest. He was intercepted by police teams on Chhatriva Para Cal Road within the jurisdiction of the Purakalandar police station. As soon as he saw the police vehicles coming from the front, he took his motorcycle to the roadside and attempted to escape by taking a turn on a trail that goes to the nearby sugarcane farm.

The police asked him to surrender, but he instead fired at them. Realising that the police team can overpower him easily, he left his motorcycle and started to run as he wanted to disappear in the sugarcane as soon as possible. While on the run, he also continued to fire bullets at the police. As the police also opened fire in retaliation, he was eventually killed in the encounter.

Anees Khan used a scrambled motorcycle with different coloured parts. He had also scratched both the number plates of the vehicle so that he would not get caught by tracing the vehicle number if recorded in any CCTV at some toll plaza.

The background of the case

Sumitra Patel, a 1998 batch constable and currently head constable, works in Sultanpur district. In August 2023, she was posted in the Ayodhya Fair. On Wednesday (August 30, 2023) morning, she was found seriously injured under a seat inside the Saryu Express at Mankapur railway station in Gonda district. She was attacked with a sharp weapon and there was a lot of blood spilled around.

Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Preetinkar Diwakar took suo motu cognisance of the incident. Filing a PIL, he issued notices to the Centre and the state government. Constable Sumitra’s brother Sachin Kumar expressed displeasure over the rape reports circulating on social media about his sister. Sachin said his sister was not raped or molested. The medical examination did not confirm any kind of sexual abuse. The woman police head constable is receiving treatment in the government hospital.

‘Context is different’: SC issues notice to Udhayanidhi Stalin for anti-Sanatana remark, refuses to tag it with Haridwar ‘Dharm Sansad’ case

0

On Friday, September 22, the Supreme Court of India sought responses from the Tamil Nadu government and its minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on a plea seeking an FIR against him for his hateful remarks against Sanatana Dharma and calling for its eradication.

However, while doing so, the apex court refused to tag the case with the ongoing petitions filed against the alleged ‘hate speech’ at Haridwar Dharm Sansad, pointing out that the context of this case is different.

The apex court was responding to a plea filed by B Jagannath seeking an FIR against the Tamil Nadu minister on grounds that the remarks are akin to hate speech and that the top court had in similar matters passed several directions, including registration of FIR.

“This court has taken note of similar matters where individuals make such a statement against another’s faith but in this case, it is a minister making the statement. Here it is a state, which is telling the school students that so and so religion is wrong,” Senior advocate Dama Seshadri Naidu, appearing for the petitioner, submitted before the bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi.

The bench asked Naidu what was he seeking from the court, to which the senior lawyer said he was seeking a restraining order against the minister (Stalin) from making any such statement and secondly that an FIR be registered.

Despite its initial reluctance to hear the petition, the bench eventually accepted the senior counsel’s arguments to issue notice to the TN Govt and the DMK Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. However, the court refused to tag the case with the slew of hate speech petitions at this point. In closing, Justice Bose expressed his displeasure with litigants who approach the Supreme Court directly.

“Why can you not go to the high court? You are converting us into a police station,” the judge exclaimed.

When questioned on the Supreme Court decision to issue notice to Udhayanidhi Stalin for his disparaging remark against Sanatan Dharma, DMK leader TKS Elangovan brazened it out saying that their party will ask the central government to explain what is ‘Sanatan Dharma’ before the court.

“There was a petition filed and they are seeking the clarification. Let the clarification go… The matter is before the court, we will ask them (Central govt) to explain what is ‘Sanatan Dharma’, whether it talks about equanimity in a civilised society or old barbaric method. Let them explain. We will respond to court…”, the DMK leader was quoted by ANI as responding.

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s ‘Sanatana Dharma needs to be eradicated’ remark

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s hateful statement sparked nationwide outrage. Udhayanidhi was backed by I.N.D.I alliance leaders including the Congress. Sources reportedly said that Prime Minister Modi asked his ministers to counter the Opposition’s narrative on Sanatana Dharma with facts.

Several FIRs were filed in different states against Stalins’ anti-Sanatan remarks.

On September 13, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in Mumbai over his remarks insulting Sanatana Dharma on 2 September. The FIR, registered by the Mira Road police, was filed under Sections 153A and 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Earlier, an FIR was filed in Uttar Pradesh against the son of Tamil Nadu CM for his disparaging remarks about Sanatana Dharma.

However, the leader refused to take back his words and said that he stood by each and every word he said about Sanatan Dharma. He also said that he was ready to face legal action for the comments and that he would fight it out in court.

Haridwar Dharm Sansad ‘hate speech’ case

In 2021, allegations of hate speech surfaced against the 3-day ‘Dharm Sansad’ event held in Haridwar. that was organised by Yati Narsinghanand and another one that was organised in Delhi by the Hindu Yuva Vahini.

It may be recalled that a day after speeches of leaders like Yati Narsinghanand and other Hindu leaders went viral, an FIR was filed in Uttarakhand over the speeches that called upon Hindus to collect arms. The speeches were deemed as provocative and social media was rife with Leftists and Islamists claiming that the speeches called for a Muslim genocide.

An FIR was also filed against Waseem Rizvi (now Jitendra Narayan Tyagi) and several others involved in the event on the basis of a complaint by one Gulbahar Khan. As per the complaint, Rizvi and some other individuals made derogatory remarks against the Islamic prophet Mohammad and the followers of Islam. The complaint further stated that the remarks were derogatory and provocative in nature and were made under a pre-planned conspiracy.

76 Supreme Court Lawyers have written a letter to CJI NV Ramana concerning the two events asking him to take suo moto cognisance of alleged hate speech made at the two events.

In January 2022, the Supreme Court issued notice on a PIL seeking a probe into the alleged hate speech by the Hindu leaders.

Manipur: Meitei holy site on Mount Thangjing desecrated by erecting cross and flag of Kuki-Zomi militant group ZRA

Amid the ongoing Meitei-Kuki conflict in Manipur, a sacred place for the Meitei community was desecrated by some Kuki people by mounting a cross at the site. A cross and a flag of the Zomi Revolutionary Army were erected on Mount Thangjing, which the Meitei community of Manipur considers to be hallowed ground.

Kukis reportedly desecrated the holy mount earlier this month. Mount Thangjing located in the Churachandpur district is believed to be the abode of Thangching, the ancestral deity of Moirang. There is a temple on the mountain peak which is a pilgrimage site for Hindus in Manipurs.

Visuals of the mountain peak show a cross and a ZRA flag on it. Zomi Revolutionary Army is a Kuki Zomi militant group active in Manipur. The video first emerged on social media on 10 September.

Meitei Heritage Society posted on X that installing the holy Cross and Militant ZRA’s flag on the holy site in Thangjing Ching is similar to Amarnath or Badrinath Temple being converted into a cemetery. “For Meiteis, this is the abode of Eputhou Thangching, a sacred pilgrimage site and also mentioned in the great Meitei epic Khamba Thoibi,” they added, urging the government to take necessary action.

A crematorium has allegedly been installed at the revered location of the Meitei deity on top of Thangjing Hill by a group of miscreants who were believed to be Kukis, according to the Committee on Protection and Preservation of the Historical Rights of the Koubru and Thangjing Hill Ranges (CPPKT). The organisation asserted in a statement that they discovered a Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) flag and a crucifix on 11 September at the aforementioned location. The Zomi Revolutionary Army is an armed Zomi nationalist insurgent outfit formed in 1997.

The Committee informed that on 13 September they gave a memorandum to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and filed a complaint with Moirang police station to have the flag and cross taken down. They also noted that Section 4 of the Manipur Ancient & Historical Monuments and Archaeological and Remains Act 1976 protects four hectares of area dedicated to Ibudhou Thangjing at Thangjing hill range, two hectares of Koubru Lai-phamlen (sacred site) and an additional 4 hectares of Koubru Lai Pukhri.

The committee has demanded the immediate removal of the cross from the holy site. They urged the Government to take immediate action and added that they have decided to engage in multiple types of demonstrations until the structure is dismantled.

The committee further said that it was a violation of an agreement made with Kuki groups. Notable, the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) had placed restrictions on entry to Mount Thangjing last year. In response, the Committee on Protection and Preservation of the Historical Rights of the Koubru and Thangjing Hill Ranges had placed counter-restrictions on the entry of Kukis at the Moirang Bazar.

Later in a meeting between the two groups chaired by the DGP, both parties agreed to lift the restrictions. Y Shyam Kuman, the general secretary of the committee, said that KSO has violated the agreement, and said that they will file a legal case and an FIR against KSO.

Thangching (also known as Thangjing in modern Meitei) is one of the Guardian deities guarding the ten directions per the ancient Meitei mythology (old Manipuri mythology). He has a particular status as the national deity of the former Moirang kingdom which is located in the southern Kangleipak region of the northeastern state.

The ancient Moirang kingdom’s seven divine manifestations of the God and Goddess of Love are reputed to have been invoked by Thangching who is credited with playing a significant part in the sacred event. He stands out as a notable figure who is recognised for sending messages to humans through appearances in their dreams. Southern Manipur’s Moirang is home to Thangching who sits upon Thangjing Hill (also called Thangching Hill).

Manipur Violence

The ethnic conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities in the northeastern state of Manipur has already resulted in more than 100 fatalities and thousands of displaced residents.

The first clashes occurred on 3 May following a “Tribal Solidarity March” organised by the All Tribal Students Union of Manipur (ATSUM) in the hill areas to oppose the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status. Tensions rose in April as a result of a Manipur High Court decision ordering the state administration to make a decision regarding the Scheduled Tribe status issue.

The Manipur Police informed the Supreme Court that more than 6,500 police cases had been brought in the roughly three-month span between May 3 and July 30. According to a police report filed in the Supreme Court, the majority of police cases have been classified as “arson, looting, and destruction of house property.”

These cases in thousands, inflated by multiple zero FIRs over the same cases are arson (4,454), looting (4,148), destruction of house property (4,694), and damage to public property (584). These statistics illustrate the enormous damage to property in the northeastern state during the height of the ethnic unrest.

Arshdeep Dalla and Sukhdool Singh: Two Khalistani gangsters working from Canadian soil, their links to Nijjar and the full rap sheet against them

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has, with brazen impunity, nurtured and fattened Khalistani terrorists, gangsters, Islamists and their affiliate organisations for liberal vote bank politics. Recently, Trudeau claimed that Indian agents were responsible for the killing of a Khalistani terrorist, who he believes was a ‘Canadian citizen’ – Hardeep Nijjar. Without providing a shred of demonstrable proof, Trudeau proceeded to create a diplomatic storm resulting in Canada dismissing one Indian diplomat, India responding in kind and India suspending visa services for Canadians due to threat to their embassies.

India, on its part, has been raising the issue of Canada providing safe haven to Khalistani terrorists for a long time. It is certainly not a problem that has festered only after PM Modi came to power. In 1982, India had requested the extradition Khalistani terrorist Talwinder Parmar. At that time, Justin Trudeau’s father – Pierre Trudeau – had shielded Parmar and refused to comply with India’s request. In 1985, Parwar masterminded the Air India bombing which claimed the lives of hundreds of people.

On a regular basis, there are calls to kill Hindus and disintegrate India, which are made from the soil of Canada by Khalistani terrorists. In response to the shenanigans by Justin Trudeau, India issued a strong statement calling out the safe haven being provided to gangsters and terrorists in Canada.

On Thursday, 21st September 2023, the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi held a press conference for weekly briefings. Expectedly, the majority of the questions were regarding the rapidly deteriorating relations with Canada after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged that the Indian govt was behind the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Bagchi said that Canada has a growing reputation as a safe haven for terrorists, extremists, and organised crime.

When asked about the allegations by Canada and India’s response, he further said, “I do think there is a degree of prejudice here. They have made allegations and taken action against them. To us, it seems that these allegations by the government of Canada are primarily politically driven. We have been engaged with our partners on various issues including this one. We have conveyed our positions to them and those are part of ongoing conversations.”

On the 20th of September, NIA released a list of 43 most wanted criminals including Canada-based gangsters with links to Khalistani groups. Two names on the list were Arshdeep Dalla and Sukhool Singh. Both these gangsters were closely associated with Hardeep Nijjar – the Khalistani terrorist who Canada is accusing India of killing.

On 20th September (local time), one of the most wanted criminals by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Sukhdool Singh alias Sukha Duneke, was killed in a gang war in Canada. As per the India Today report, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has taken responsibility for the murder of Sukha Duneke.

Duneke was an associate of Arsh Dalla, a Khalistani terrorist who recently took responsibility for killing Congress leader Baljinder Singh Balli in Moga.

Duneke was a member of the Bambiha gang named in controversial Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala’s murder. He escaped to Canada in 2017. He was operating his gang activities in India while sitting comfortably in Canada. Hailing from the south Malwa region, Duneke was a small-time gangster who rose to headlines quickly. Along with gangsters like Goldy Brar and Arsh Dalla, he was into extortion and cross-border funding. Duneke was a known Khalistani sympathiser.

While Canada tries to pin India down without any proof, it has harboured terrorists who wish to kill Hindus and attack the sovereignty of India. OpIndia has accessed the rap sheet of several of these Khalistani terrorists who are operating from the soil of Canada. While Trudeau wishes to further the narrative that Nijjar was an innocent Canadian citizen, here is a rap sheet of two of his associates – Arshdeep Dalla and Sukhdool Singh.

Arshdeep Dalla

Arshdeep Singh Gill alias Arshdeep Dalla is Indian by nationality but operates from Canada. He lives in Surrey, Canada and is associated with the Khalistani Tiger Force. He has been involved in several terrorist and criminal activities against India, operating from Canada.

In a Facebook post, he took responsibility for the murder of Paramjeet Singh, 45, an electrician from Bardeke village, Jagraon. In a post uploaded on his Facebook account, Dalla took responsibility saying that he avenged Dilpreet Singh Dhaliwal, who committed suicide due to harassment by the Bardeke family. The murder took place on January 4th, 2023.

NIA later interrogated Dalla’s associates Kamalpreet Sharma, Ajmeet Singh Pannu, Akashdeep, Sandeep Singh @ Seepa and Veeja Singh @Gaggu. During the interrogation, it was revealed that Arsh Dalla was an expert in Khalistani radicalisation and motivating others to commit crimes against India and Hindus in India. He used to use Facebook extensively to reach out to vulnerable youth in order to recruit them for Khalistani terrorism and was a close associate with the recently killed Hardeep Singh Nijjar – who Canada is now fighting for as an innocent citizen.

During the months of August to September, he had made threatening calls to a businessman from Sangrur, Chunni Lal and demanded a ransom of Rs. 1 crore. Similarly, Ajay Dhawan, a property dealer from Ludhiana received ransom calls from him for an amount of Rs. 20 lakhs in the month of July-August, 2023.

Further, he was also in regular touch with arrested gangster Lovepreet Singh who was involved in the killing of a Moga businessman. The rap sheet on him mentions that the murder was carried out on the instructions of Arshdeep Dalla. Lovepreet Singh, arrested in 2021, was also associated with Khalistani Tiger Force. In 2021, he was arrested in connection with several cases, including the murder of a businessman and a Dera Sacha Sauda follower. Reportedly, the murder of the Dera Sacha Sauda follower was done as revenge for a case of sacrilege.

The Indian Express report in 2021 read, “Police said their investigations so far have also revealed that the arrested suspects had been involved in the killing of gangster Sukha Lamme in June last year and throwing his body in a canal in Moga. Police have launched a hunt to locate Lamme’s body”.

Upon his arrest, the police said that three 0.32-bore pistols with 38 live cartridges and one 0.315-bore pistol with 10 live cartridges, along with two magazines, were seized from the suspects.

There were several revelations that were made by the police in 2021, which directly connect Lovepreet Singh, Arsh Dalla and Hardeep Nijjar.

  1. The police had said in 2021 that Lovepreet Singh was acting in the direction of Hardeep Nijar – based in Canada. His name (Nijjar’s) had featured in the list of Khalistani terrorists that was given by then CM of Punjab to Justin Trudeau in 2018.
  2. In 2021, the DGP said that three other KTF co-conspirators, identified as Arshdeep, Ramandeep and Charanjit alias Rinku Bihla, were hiding in Surrey (B.C) Canada, while one Kamaljeet Sharma alias Kamal, was in the run at that time.
  3. He said Arshdeep Singh of village Dalla in Moga and Ramandeep Singh of Ferozepur went to Canada in 2019 and 2017 respectively.
  4. Lovepreet and Kamaljeet Sharma were known to Arshdeep as they all belonged to the same village – Dalla. They were all paid by Arshdeep through Western Union money transfers.
  5. The police had said that in June 2020, Arshdeep Dalla had visited India and roped in Lovepreet Singh to kill gangster Sukha Lamme by injecting him with a poisonous substance at an abandoned house in Dalla village of Moga.

The Punjab police had issued a Look Out Notice against Arshdeep Dalla and the then CM Amarinder Singh handing over a list of Khalistani terrorists to Justin Trudeau functioning from Canada in 2018.

Major crimes by Arshdeep Dalla:

  1. Associates of Arshdeep Dalla had shot dead Tajinder Singh alias Pinka in Moga. FIR No 122 was filed on 14th July 2020 under sections 302, 34 IPC & 25 Arms Act, in police station City South, District Moga.
  2. Associates of Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla shot dead Manohar Lal in Bhatinda. FIR No 163 was filed on 20th November 2020 under sections 302, 307, 34 IPC & 25, 54, 59 Arms Act & 10, 11, 16, 13-8(B) UAPA Act in Police Station Dayalpura, Bathinda. The case was taken over by NIA.
  3. One Kamaldeep Sharma was also attacked by the associates of Arshdeep with an intent to kill. FIR No 28 was filed on 31st January 2021 under sections 307, 34 IPC & 25 Arms Act in Police Station Phillaur, District Jalandhar Rural. The case was taken over by NIA.

Arshdeep Dalla is still based in Canada and no action has been taken by Justin Trudeau to bring him to justice.

Sukhdool Singh

Gangster Sukhdool Singh alias Sukha was recently killed in Canada by unknown gunmen. Sukhdool Singh was known as ‘Sukha Duneke’ and has been on a wanted list by India. Sukha had fled from India in 2017 with the help of forged documents. He hailed from Moga district of Punjab. He was linked with the Davinder Bambiha gang. Unconfirmed reports have stated that unknown assailants shot Sukha in what appears to be an inter-gang clash in Canada’s Winnipeg.

Interestingly, Sukha’s name was on the list of wanted criminals shared by NIA on September 20. The names included criminals engaged in terror-gangster acts against India. He was listed as No. 33 on the NIA list.

“Persons shown in the photos below are accused in the NIA Cases RC-38/2022/NIA/DLI or RC-39/2022/NIA/DLI. If you have any information about properties/assets/ business owned by them in their name or in the name of their associates, friends & relatives, please WhatsApp DM @ +91 7290009373,” the NIA had posted on X.

Sukhdool Singh, as mentioned earlier, was a close associate of not just Arshdeep Dalla but also Hardeep Nijjar. He was living in Ontario, Canada and originally hails from Village Duneke Kalan, District – Moga, Punjab.

Sukhdool was a wanted gangster in India and had more than 30 criminal cases against him. A Look Out Circular was also issued in his name while he was being harboured in Canada. His crimes include 2 Murder, 4 attacks with intent to murder, aiding escape of prisoners, UAPA related cases.

He is one of the key conspirators in the killing of international Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal during an ongoing match in village Mallian in Jalandhar on March 14, 2022. (FIR No 40 was filed against him on 14th March 2022 under sections 302/307/148/149/120-B IPC, 25/27 A. Act in PS Sadar Nakodar Jalandhar Rural)

Recently, in the months of April-June, 2023 he had made threat calls to Panchayat Secretary, Sukhveer Singh and demanded a ransom of Rs. 15 Lakhs. Similarly, Ajay Kumar, a Ludhiana-based businessman had received ransom calls from him for an amount of Rs. 03 crores in the month of June 2023.

It is evident that Canada has been harbouring hardened criminals, gangsters and terrorists under the garb of freedom of expression. Interestingly, Hardeep Nijjar, the terrorist that Justin Truedeau’s heart is bleeding for, was represented in several legal cases by the head of a banned Khalistani terrorist outfit Sikhs For Justice. Gurpatwant Pannu has been seen in Canada, roaming around with impunity, issuing threats to Hindus. Only recently, after the unsubstantiated claims by Justin Trudeau, Pannu issued a threat to Hindus living in Canada asking them to leave the country of face dire consequences.

On Wednesday (September 20), the Hindu Forum Canada (HFC) wrote a letter addressed to Canada’s Minister of Public Safety, Dominic LeBlanc, calling for decisive action in response to a hateful video statement targeting Hindus.

The video, released by Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, has raised concerns. It has added to the ongoing diplomatic tension between India and Canada, which started due to Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s allegations about India’s supposed involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

In its letter, HFC wrote, “We, the Hindu community in Canada, urgently request your attention to our deep concerns regarding recent statements made by Mr. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, the lawyer representing Hardeep Singh Nijjar. We implore the authorities to treat this matter with the utmost seriousness, as it directly impacts the safety and security of Canadian citizens. Our alarm has been exacerbated by the dissemination of a hateful video on social media.”

The letter said, “The foundation of international relationships is predicated on a long-term strategy of mutual benefit, and it is of paramount importance that domestic considerations do not eclipse sound judgment.”

“Tensions have escalated following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s announcement on Monday, September 18 regarding the Canadian intelligence services investigation into a potential connection between the government of India and the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia, Canada,” it further added.

Hindu Forum Canada added in its letter to the Canadian minister, “Mr Pannu has articulately expressed the beliefs held by himself and his Khalistani associates, leaving no room for ambiguity they intend to target individuals who do not subscribe to their ideology. These threats have now materialized within Canada, and it is imperative that the Canadian government does not underestimate their gravity. Both Canadian Prime Minister Mr Justin Trudeau and NDP Leader Mr Jagmeet Singh have previously defended these incidents as matters of freedom of expression. We implore them to address Mr. Pannu’s threat to Indo-Canadian citizens, particularly Hindus residing in Canada.”

While Justin Trudeau evades questions and furthers anti-India tropes during his press conference, India-Canada ties have taken a serious hit with the active support that Justin Trudeau extends to Khalistani and Islamists elements who wish to attack the sovereignty of India.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring backs Canadian singer Shubh amid backlash for sharing distorted map of India

0

On Friday, September 22, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring extended support to Canada-based Punjabi singer Shubhneet Singh alias Shubh amidst the backlash over the singer’s Instagram story featuring a distorted map of India. The Congress leader came out in support of the pro-Khalistan singer at a time when tensions are prevailing in the diplomatic ties between India and Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Taking to X on Friday, Punjab Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring stated that while his party is opposed to the idea of Khalistan, he is against the labelling of singer Shubh as an “anti-national”. Moreover, the MLA from Gidderbaha said that the people of Punjab don’t need to give proof of their patriotism. Warring further alleged that there are certain forces at work to undermine Punjabis.

“While we at @INCPunjab strongly oppose the idea of Khalistan & have actively fought our battles against anti-national forces, I strongly oppose labelling of our youngsters like @Shubhworldwide, who speak for Punjab as anti-nationals. We Punjabis don’t need to give any proof about our nationalism. This propaganda being pushed by certain forces against Punjabis to undermine us is highly condemnable. Malicious attempts to tarnish our youngsters must be repulsed. Jai Hind! Jai Punjab!” Warring posted.

The Congress leader’s tweet came hours after Shubh issued a statement on Instagram addressing the controversy. Interestingly, the Congress leader reiterated singer Shubh’s assertion from his statement issued earlier today wherein the rapper/musician said that “Punjabis do not need to give proof of their patriotism.”

The official handle of Punjab Congress reiterated Warring’s statement and added that singer Shubh is being labelled as an anti-national “for no reason”.

Shubh’s statement apparently was more about his disappointment over the cancellation of his music tour due to an online backlash rather than apologising or even clarifying his position on the matter. Quite conveniently, the singer brought in the Sikh Gurus respected by one and all for something wrong he did. While the singer claims that his intention behind sharing the artwork made by artist Inkquisitive featuring a distorted map of India was only about praying for Punjab amidst blackouts and internet shutdown, it remains unanswered why Jammu and Kashmir and the seven northeastern states missing from the map. Moreover, why Haryana and Himachal Pradesh were merged with Punjab in the artwork? These questions have neither been answered by the artist behind the distorted map nor by singer Shubh. The question also arises if the singer really considers India as his country, why did he choose to urge people to pray for Punjab using a map that did not depict the correct map of India?

On Thursday, Amandeep Singh who goes by the pseudonym Inkquisitive had also played the victim card claiming that he has been a target of cyberbullying and threats as he blamed actress Kangana Ranaut, Indian netizens and the ‘powerheads’ of the industry for the backlash faced by Shubh and the artwork in question.

This comes after rapper/musician Shubhneet Singh alias Shubh posted a story on his Instagram account on March 23, 2023, captioned “Pray for Punjab” showing a distorted map of India. He posted a photo of the map without the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and North-eastern states. The Canadian singer did this at a time when the Punjab Police was on the lookout to nab Khalistani terrorist Amritpal Singh.

“They objected to the words Nari Shakti Vandan”: PM Modi exposes opposition in his address to women BJP workers

0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) congratulated women across the country for the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill known as ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’. PM Modi was felicitated and garlanded by the women workers of the BJP. The Prime Minister greeted them back by bowing down with joined hands.

“The nation which had been waiting for this decision, that dream has been fulfilled,” Modi said. “Today, every woman’s self-confidence is touching the skies. Our daughters and mothers are celebrating and blessing us today,” he said.

The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam was passed in the Lok Sabha with a majority vote of 454 and was passed unanimously in the Rajya Sabha.

Reaching out to women voters, the PM launched a scathing attack on the opposition. He said that attempts to pass the Bill had been made for the past three decades but it wasn’t materialising.

“We did not let anyone’s political greed block women’s reservation. Before this, whenever this Bill was introduced in Parliament, they whitewashed it by merely registering names but did not make dedicated attempts. They created a ruckus, they even attempted to insult women,” the PM said hitting out at the previous UPA alliance and Congress governments.

Moreover, PM Modi highlighted that while votes were cast in the Lok Sabha on 20 September but some people had a problem with the usage of the term ‘Nari Shakti Vandana’. “Should the woman of this nation not be worshipped? Should mothers and sisters not be greeted? Should their respect not be encouraged? Should us men become so arrogant, should political ideologies become so arrogant that the usage of ‘Nari Shakti Vandana’ term irks them?”

PM said that those who used to tear the Bill apart, today they had to support it because women have emerged as a “Shakti” in the nation in the past 10 years. He said, “And we assimilated strength and willingness in the country before we entered the Parliament so that no one is able to move in the Parliament. We went to the Parliament prepared.”

PM said, “The BJP had been fighting for this Bill for the past three decades. This was our commitment and today we have fulfilled it.” He thanked all political parties and Members of Parliament for supporting the Bill while also recalling that the Bill had to face several obstructions in the past.

The Prime Minister listed the various schemes and campaigns organised by his government for women’s upliftment including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, Nirbhaya Fund, Ujjawala Scheme, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Mudra Yojana, and so on.

PM said that his government abolished notorious practices like Triple Talaq which were used to subject women to atrocities. “We stopped such atrocities by making a law against the practice. Today, crores of our Muslim sisters are protected from the practice of Triple Talaq. They too are now coming forward for their rights,” PM said.

PM Modi in his concluding remarks said that the biggest benefit of this Bill would be that it will boost the confidence of the women of the nation. The bill, when becomes law, will provide one-third (33%) reservation to women in the lower house of the parliament, and state assemblies including Delhi.

The Hebbagodi police in Bengaluru have registered an FIR against Murif Ashraf Baig, the software engineer from Kashmir, against whom a software professional from Bengaluru, Karnataka had levelled charges of love jihad. The accused is a native of Srinagar and has been working in an IT firm in Bengaluru.

Notably, the FIR was registered after the victim approached the Bellandur police on September 8 through social media and sought help. The post was addressed to the Bengaluru Police, the Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP), and the Prime Minister’s Office.

In her post, she stated that her “life is in danger.” The victim revealed that she was subjected to “rape, unnatural sex and forced religious conversion.”

She conveyed that the offender had extracted money from her and when she told him to return the amount, she was threatened with harm. He gained her trust, promised to marry her and continued to demand money.

She added that the two became friends on Facebook.

Bellandur police tracked down the techie’s address details so they could forward her complaint to the relevant police officers for necessary measures and assured her to take action after she filed a police complaint.

Speaking about the complaint, the Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Raman Gupta said, “The woman claims to be a software engineer is from Bengaluru. She had tweeted that she was a victim of love jihad. The incident is said to have happened around five to six years ago. We will have to investigate the delay in bringing the matter to the notice of the city police. A due investigation will give clarity about the case.”

Based on the social media post, the Bellandur police commenced an inquiry into the occurrence and transferred the case to the Hebbagodi police. The Hebbagodi police, in turn, recorded the victim’s statement, booked the accused under relevant sections of the IPC and initiated a probe.

The Guwahati police carried out an operation to dismantle the Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) racket that was prevalent in the city on the evening of 20 September. A FICN racket was unearthed by a police team from the Jorabat outpost under the Basistha police station in Guwahati which resulted in the arrest of three individuals.

They were identified as 32-year-old Abdul Kadir of Gohaindoloni Village and 35-year-old Samiruddin of Ahmedpur Village, both of whom are residents of the Bihpuria Police Station in the North Lakhimpur district. Cops apprehended Robi Ali, a native of Sonapur, Kamrup (Metro) during a separate operation.

Two raids were conducted which resulted in the successful seizure of Rs 3.33 lakhs along with 5 mobile phones, 1 ream of paper and burnt remains of FICN. The currency notes were in denominations of Rs 500. The action transpired at 14 Mile and Moroktola near the boundary between Assam and Meghalaya.

The perpetrators were reportedly involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit money. FICN worth Rs 10 lakhs were confiscated by Assam Police in Guwahati earlier on 29 August as part of a successful strike against the illegal activity. Two smugglers were also captured.

The infamous FICN smugglers Sariful Islam and Sajjadul Islam were caught and false notes worth 10 lakhs in 500 Rupee denominations were retrieved during an operation orchestrated on the morning of 29 August by the Garchuk Police Station along with a Special Operations Group.

The Lakhimpur district in North Assam which has been characterized as the center of FICN and fake gold manufacturing and smuggling was the home of both of the arrested FICN traffickers.

Mahindra & Mahindra’s Canadian associate firm Resson Aerospace winds up voluntarily

0

On Thursday, September 21, Mahindra & Mahindra, the leading Indian automobile company, announced that its Canada-based associate firm Resson Aerospace Corporation has ceased to exist.

The development comes at a time when the diplomatic relations between India and Canada are going through a tough phase owing the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s bizarre allegations against the Indian government.

In a stock market notification issued on Thursday, Mahindra & Mahindra informed that Resson Aerospace Corporation had filed for a voluntary winding up. Mahindra & Mahindra added that it holds an 11.18% stake in the Canada-based company through Class C preferred shares.

“Resson has received a Certificate of Dissolution from Corporations Canada dated September 20, 2023, which was informed to the company,” M&M stated.

The statement added that Resson has ceased to exist and has also ceased to be an affiliate of the company as of September 20, 2023. M&M further stated that upon the liquidation of Resson, the firm is entitled to roughly 4.7 million Canadian dollars (which is approximately Rs 28.7 crore) as a distribution of proceeds towards the company’s Class C Preferred Shares.

However, the shutdown of Reson Aerospace will have little impact on Mahindra & Mahindra. People are looking at this development from an alternative perspective, given the present diplomatic spat between India and Canada.

Mahindra had signed a share subscription agreement in 2018 to acquire up to 10% share capital of Canada’s IT firm Resson Aerospace Corporation for up to Canadian dollars 6.63 million paid in cash.

It is worth noting that trade between India and Canada was worth approximately $8 billion US dollars in fiscal year 2022-23. The two countries’ imports and exports are about equal. Canada is India’s tenth major trading partner, whereas India is Canada’s seventeenth-largest trade partner.

Mahindra and Mahindra share had come down after the announcement yesterday, but it bounced back and has gone up today.

Diplomatic spat between India and Canada

India-Canada relations have been at an all-time low for some time now, owing largely to India’s wrath at Ottawa turning a blind eye to Khalistani extremism on its soil. With such a reckless remark by Canada’s Prime Minister, bilateral ties between the two countries are bound to deteriorate further.

On September 18th, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil and expelled a top Indian diplomat. Trudeau said, without offering any evidence, that Canada is looking into ‘credible information’ about Indian agents being involved in Nijjar’s death. The Canadian PM’s outrageous and shocking allegations were strongly refuted by India.

In response to Canada’s hostile behaviour towards India and open support to anti-India terrorists, India summoned Canadian envoy Cameron MacKay and informed him of the government’s decision to expel a senior Canadian diplomat. Additionally, India has suspended visa services for Canadian nationals as well as called Canada a “safe haven for terrorists, extremists and organised crime.”
