0

On Saturday, September 2, the Telangana police arrested a 20-year-old girl Chandana and her boyfriend Omer Shaik Sultan along with three others for murdering her 22-year-old sister Banka Deepthi at Korutla town in the Jagtial district. The techie working in Hyderabad was killed at her home on August 29, by the accused couple after a failed attempt at eloping. Since the murder, the couple was absconding.

According to Jagitial Superintendent of Police (SP) Aggadi Bhaskar, the accused, Banka Chandana and Omar Shaik Sultan were apprehended by police on their way to Nagpur on the Armoor-Balkonda road in Nizamabad district. Along with Chandana and Omar, the police also arrested Omar’s mother Mahboob, sister Asiya Fatima and friend Hafeez.

Deepti, a software engineer working for a multinational corporation in Hyderabad, was found dead under strange circumstances at her home in Korutla town, where she was working from home, according to SP Bhaskar.

Police informed that victim Deepthi had learnt that her sister was planning to elope with her boyfriend Omer Shaik Sultan along with the jewellery and cash kept at her home. Meanwhile, the parents of the girl were in Hyderabad to attend a function there. The police said that accused Chadana first made her sister consume alcohol consequently, the victim fell unconscious. Later, accused Omer Shaik arrived and the two were preparing to elope along with the gold jewellery and cash, however, Deepthi regained her senses and confronted the two. Consequently, the two tied her up and covered her mouth and nose with an adhesive tape causing asphyxiation and resulting in her death.

According to the police, accused Omer Shaik Sultan was a batchmate of his girlfriend Banka Chandana while they were doing an engineering course in Hyderabad in 2019. Reportedly, Omer Shaik is originally a resident of Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh.

Accused Chandana had been staying at home after finishing the engineering degree, while Omer Shaik Sultan often visited Korutla to meet her. Reportedly, on August 19, the couple met and Chandana asked for him to marry her and take her from her home as her parents would not support their marriage. When he expressed concerns about living without a job and money, Chandana persuaded him and also talked to his family, including his mother Syed Alia Mahaboob, his sister Fathima, and his friend Hafiz, over WhatsApp.

Police investigations, including examining CCTV footage, indicated that Chandana had left the house with a man on the same night. The girl’s father, who filed a police complaint,  voiced concern about his younger daughter, who went missing after the murder.

According to the police, the victim’s brother, who is currently working in Bengaluru, received an audio message on his phone from Chandana, saying she was unaware of the murder. Moreover, Chandana told him that she had gone out after consuming alcohol with Deepthi, who had afterwards fallen asleep. Chandana, however, did not talk about her whereabouts and why she had gone missing.

During interrogation, accused Chandana confessed to her crime. Now, Korutla police have changed the case from suspicious death to murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

Assam: Dr Alima Akhtar gets death threats from her family for converting to Hinduism, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma instructs DGP to take action

0

On 3rd September 2023, a video emerged on social media where Dr Alima Akhtar – a female doctor from the Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh – described how her family members are threatening her with death for willfully converting to Hinduism. The woman also said that her family is trying to get her married to a much older Maulana, which she does not want. As the video went viral on the internet, Assam’s chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma instructed Assam’s Director General of Police to take proper action as per Law after a proper enquiry in this case.

Dr Alima Akhtar said in her video, “My name is Dr Alima Akhtar and I am making this video in the form of a statement. Actually, you can see I am at an airport. Moving around you can see security people are also there. Nothing happening around me. I am all well. But the problem is that my family have threatened me with death. Because I committed two mistakes. The first one is that I embraced the Hindu faith which is why many members of my family want to kill me. I am receiving death threats every day. To get rid of those death threats is my fundamental right.”

Dr. Alima Akhtar added, “And the second thing is that my family has lodged a false complaint of kidnapping against me and filed a case. They have done this so that the police catch me and hand me over to them after which they want to force me to marry a Maulana. They believe that if I marry some Maulana who is much older than me, then I will get Jannat in my afterlife and I will be saved from falling into Jahannum. I did not like this at all and therefore I am keeping myself much away from them.”

She further said, “I don’t want to go. Because I don’t want to get forcibly married to some Maulana. The case of kidnapping is false. You can see I am all well and roaming around. I am away from those people in order to live my life peacefully and study well. So, this is my only mistake for which my family members want to kill me.”

The woman requested the assistance of Assam Police, urging them to take notice of the situation and initiate appropriate measures in response to the matter.

After popular Assamese Twitter user @SouleFacts posted the video with a request to the DGP to take cognisance and do the needful as per law, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma noted this and ordered action. He expressed his support for the woman and directed Assam Police DGP GP Singh to take action while also calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.

Rajasthan: 14-year-old gang rape victim in Bhilwara was alive when burnt in furnace, says police charge sheet

0

Police filed a chargesheet on 2 September which revealed that the 14-year-old girl was alive when she was burned, nearly a month after her remains were discovered inside a coal furnace in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. She was a victim of gang rape.

The names of nine out of 11 perpetrators are included in the chargesheet, which is more than 400 pages long and was submitted to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court in the Shahpura district by the investigating officer (IO) and Kotari Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Sunder Bishnoi. Two juveniles who were involved in the crime would have a separate chargesheet filed against them.

On 3 August at Koatri in Bhilwara, now a part of the Shahpura district, the minor was set on fire after being gang-raped. Senior police officials claimed that the horrible event presented the investigating officer with one of his most difficult probes.

While some of the teenager’s incinerated body parts were pulled from the furnace, others were left strewn around which needed to be found, meticulously collected and maintained for the purpose of a thorough forensic investigation.

It was also difficult to prove gang rape in the absence of vaginal swab samples. The police team asked forensic professionals for assistance in collecting specimens from the accused in order to prove the crime. All of the evidence was presented in court and indicated that the victim had been exposed to a petroleum-based substance prior to being set ablaze.

The girl’s body was recovered early on the morning of 3 August in a brick kiln in a field next to her home which led to the discovery of the crime. She was from Narsinghpura village in the Girdiya Panchayat region of the Shahpura district. She went to graze goats on 2 August along with her mother and somehow got separated from her and then could not be found.

The family and the villagers rushed to the police station to file a missing person report after they were unable to locate the minor, however, the police did not file a case. They found her bones in the kiln after they tried to search for her again.

A significant revelation has emerged in the Wasim murder case in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar. The minor apprehended in connection with this case has informed the police that Wasim was homosexual. Allegedly, the deceased was abusing the minor and recorded a video, and was consistently using it to blackmail the minor.

The juvenile was arrested on allegations of murdering his tutor by slitting the tutor’s throat. The motive behind the act, as reported by Delhi police on Saturday, September 2, 2023, was that the tutor Wasim had allegedly been sexually assaulting the arrested juvenile repeatedly.

The lifeless body of the victim, bearing severe neck injuries, was discovered in Jamia Nagar, Batla House, on August 30, 2023. Upon receiving information, the local police arrived at the scene, where they found a 28-year-old man lying in a pool of blood. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Wasim, who was working as a private tutor.

The flat where Wasim was murdered belonged to his father. Wasim’s father Mohammad Jameel is a teacher by profession. The flat where Wasim’s body was found was rented out to someone, which had recently been vacated. Wasim lived with his father in Zakir Nagar opposite Mecca Palace Hotel.

Delhi police said, “During the investigation on the basis of surveillance, it emerged that the deceased Wasim was engaged in homosexual activity with a juvenile and was repeatedly sexually assaulting him. The deceased had made a video of the juvenile and threatened him to release the video on social media if he did not oblige him.”

According to police officials, on August 30, 2023, the deceased called the juvenile to his one-room residence with the alleged intention of sexually assaulting him.

Delhi police further said, “The minor was fed up with his repeated assault and had planned to eliminate the molester. On finding an opportune moment, the minor who was carrying a sharp paper cutter, slit the throat of the deceased and fled from the spot. The juvenile has been apprehended.”

The deceased’s mobile phone, as well as the clothing and shoes that the juvenile was wearing at the time of the incident, have all been retrieved from the juvenile. Based on the investigative findings and gathered facts, a murder case has been officially registered under Section 302 of the IPC, at Police Station Jamia Nagar, and the investigation is now actively underway.

Sanatan is another name for hate-mongering: Tamil Nadu Congress General Secretary backs Udhayanidhi Stalin’s anti-Hindu remarks

On Sunday (September 3) morning, Tamil Nadu Congress spokesperson and General Secretary Lakshmi Ramachandran courted controversy for equating Hinduism (Sanatan Dharma) with hate-mongering.

In a tweet, she wrote, “Sanathanam is another name for the hate-mongering, casteist Hindutva which has its origins in the North.” The Congress leader then claimed that ‘Hinduism’ in the South was different from the North.

“In the south, our Hinduism is peace-loving and striving to be inclusive. Ramanujar, Vallalar and Narayana Guru kind of Hinduism is our Hinduism.” Lakshmi Ramachandran alleged.

The development came a day after DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin stirred the hornet’s nest by comparing the Hindu civilisational religious philosophy with ‘malaria’ and ‘dengue.’

Tamil Nadu Congress leader Karti Chidambaram also extended his support to Stalin on Saturday (September 2). “Sanatan Dharma is nothing but code for a Caste Hierarchical Society. All those batting for it are hankering for the Good Ole Days! Caste is the Curse of India,” he went on a vitriolic rant against the Hindu civilisational religious philosophy.

On Sunday (September 3) morning, he posted another tweet defending DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin. “There was no call for “Genocide” against anyone, this is a mischievous spin,” Karti Chidambaram claimed.

Udhayanidhi Stalin and his objectionable remarks against Sanatan Dharma

On Saturday (September 2), the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development of Tamil Nadu said, “Mosquitoes, dengue, flu, malaria, corona – we should not oppose these things. They’ve to be eradicated completely.”

“The same is the case with Santanam (Hinduism). Our first work should be to abolish/eradicate Sanatanam instead of opposing it. So, my appreciation to you all for giving an apt title to the meeting,” he stated.

Later, he went on a tirade against the Hindu civilisational religious philosophy on social media. While taking to X (formerly Twitter), Udhayanidhi Stalin wrote, “Sanatan Dharma is a principle that divides people in the name of caste and religion.”

“Uprooting Sanatan Dharma is upholding humanity and human equality…I spoke on behalf of the oppressed & marginalized, who suffer due to the Sanatan Dharma. I spoke on behalf of the oppressed & marginalized, who suffer due to the Sanatan Dharma,” he reiterated his sinister plan.

Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal diverted funds to buy properties in Dubai and UK, Enforcement Directorate says

0

On Friday, September 1, Naresh Goyal, the founder of Jet Airways was arrested in an alleged ₹ 538-crore money laundering case pertaining to loans and credit lines granted to the airline by Canara Bank.

According to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Goyal allegedly conspired with other accused to defraud Canara Bank by syphoning off bank loan funds through its companies and claiming false costs. He reportedly purchased properties in Dubai and the United Kingdom with the funds.

According to the ED, Naresh Goyal fraudulently diverted loan proceeds as pointed out by Ernst & Young’s Forensic Audit Reports, causing the bank a loss of Rs 538.62 crore.

The ED discovered that Naresh Goyal had made questionable spending of Rs 1152.62 crore as professional and consultancy fees. These costs included personal expenses for himself as well as his family members, in addition to unrecorded transactions credited to the promoters’ foreign accounts.

Moreover, it has been found that Jet Airways also diverted funds to offshore entities in Dubai, Ireland, and other tax haven countries, including the British Virgin Islands, under the guise of a General Selling Agents (GSA) commission. According to the ED, this commission was paid to associated parties and entities linked to Naresh Goyal and his associates.

According to the investigating agency, JIL’s total exposure from the State Bank of India-led consortium was roughly Rs 6,000 crore.

The probe agency also alleged that agreements were reached with various General Selling Agents (GSAs) whose directors were relatives of Naresh and Anita Goyal. A significant amount of the approximately Rs 3,000 crore paid as GSA expenses went to Jet Air LLC, Jet Air UK Limited, Jet Air Pvt. Ltd., and Jet Air INC. Naresh Goyal also owns 15% of Jet Air LLC, based in Dubai.

Notably, in July this year, ED officials raided numerous sites, including the Chartered Accountants and Consultants to whom JIL had made considerable payments over the years and who had been red-flagged in the forensic audit reports. The investigation agency gathered a considerable number of incriminating documents and called Naresh Goyal twice, but he failed to show up.

Amit Agarwal, the ex-CFO of Jet Airways, accused Naresh Goyal’s secretary, Jennifer D’Silva, in his statement to the ED, of sanctioning payments to dubious consulting and professional businesses with Naresh Goyal’s consent and without communicating with Jet Airways’ finance department.

The audit report of Ernst & Young revealed that an amount of Rs 9.46 crore was given to Naresh Goyal’s wife Anita, daughter Namrata, and son Nivaan from JIL accounts in 2011-2012 and 2018-2019 for multiple reasons.

Whilst Naresh Goyal was the chairman of Jet Airways, the company diverted cash by providing advances to JIL’s subsidiary Jet Lite Limited (JLL) worth Rs 2,547.83 crore, which was then written off by making provisions.

Canara Bank had undertaken a forensic audit of accounts belonging to the companies of Naresh Goyal between April 1, 2011 and June 19, 2019. Consequently, the alleged money diversion and rigging came to the fore. The bank alleged that the company’s forensic audit found that Goyal had paid Rs 1,410.41 crore in commission to his other companies.

As Naresh Goyal refused to comply with the probe, ED authorities issued a fresh summons and took his statement at his Delhi house on September 1. The investigation agency emphasised that enough time had passed since their initial request as they reiterated their demand for the documents.

When questioned about his repeated absences from ED officials during earlier summons, Naresh Goyal remained evasive in his responses, causing additional delays in the inquiry. He was then detained, and a special PMLA court in Mumbai remanded him in ED custody until September 11.

It is pertinent to recall that on May 3 this year, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed an FIR against Jet Airways, Naresh Goyal, his wife Anita, and certain former business executives after Canara Bank alleged a ₹ 538-crore fraud. Following this, a money laundering case was registered. Canara Bank informed the agency and stated that it had sanctioned credit limits and loans totalling 848.86 crore to Jet Airways (India) Ltd (JIL), of which 538.62 crore had not been paid back.

Maharashtra: Ishtiaque Khan arrested, wife booked, for torturing 12-year-old girl ‘bought’ for Rs 50,000, found tied in bathroom with burns on body

0

In a distressing incident, a 10-year-old minor girl employed as a maid was subjected to extreme abuse and torture by the family for which she worked. When watchful neighbours saved the girl from the grips of the abusive couple, the horrible episode was brought to light in Atharva Nagari, located on Pipla-Besa Road in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The Hudkeshwar Police apprehended Tah Arman Ishtiaque Ahmed Khan, in this case, on Thursday, 31st August 2023. It was revealed that Khan had ‘bought’ this victim girl from her parents.

According to reports, a couple living in Atharva Nagari, namely Tah Arman Ishtiaque Ahmed Khan (age 39) and his wife Heena (age 26), bought a young girl from Punjab in 2021, paying a sum of Rs 50000 to her parents, with the purported intention of employing her as a domestic helper. Shockingly, during the past four years, the girl endured unspeakable suffering, which included physical abuse, sexual abuse and burns inflicted on her private parts.

The young girl, confined by the couple was deprived of the liberty to exit the premises and was forcibly held in captivity. Her daily routine revolved around fulfilling all household duties and enduring physical abuse for any perceived mistakes. According to reports, Heena Khan’s brother also mistreated the girl. He allegedly had unnatural sexual relationships with this minor girl. Tah Arman Ishtiaque Ahmed Khan, who is a smoker, also inflicted burns on her.

The traumatic experience of the underage girl came to an end when employees from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) arrived at the house to disconnect the power supply due to unpaid bills. This occurred while the Khan family was away in Bengaluru, inadvertently locking the girl inside the residence. After noticing the electricity workers, the trapped girl ingeniously signalled for assistance through a window. The MSEDCL technicians, who were alerted by her signals, promptly alerted the neighbours, who broke down the door and came to her aid.

Inside the residence, they found the girl locked in the bathroom. She was traumatised and in dire need of assistance. The Khan family had left her with some bread packets for sustenance before departing for Bengaluru. The concerned neighbours immediately took her into their care, providing comfort and support. Shockingly, they also discovered burn injuries all over her body. It was found that she was tortured with hot pan, hot knife, and cigarettes all over her body.

The neighbours took the girl to the Hudkeshwa police station in Nagpur. The victim minor girl found it difficult to speak to the police authorities, but later she did manage to disclose that her parents had sold her to the Khan couple because of their dire financial conditions. Her parents were from Punjab. The Nagppur police then made contact with the Bengaluru police.

The Bengaluru Police arrested Ishtiaque Ahmed Khan and later handed him over to the Nagpur Police for additional inquiries. His wife and brother-in-law managed to escape and police are searching for them. The Hudkeshwar Police have filed a case against the accused couple, and ongoing investigations into this distressing incident are currently in progress. Dedicated efforts are underway to ensure that the minor girl receives the essential care and support needed for her recovery from the harrowing experiences she has endured.

Supreme Court lawyer on Sunday filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Udhayanidhi Stalin, Sports Minister of the Government of Tamil Nadu and son of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu over a controversial statement on Saturday on ‘Santana Dharma’.

Complainant Vineet Jindal, a practising lawyer, has claimed that Udhayanidhi Maran in a speech made a provocative, inflammatory, derogatory, and inciting statement against Sanatan Dharam.

Being a Hindu and Sanatan dharma follower, my religious sentiments are hurt by statements made by Udhayanidhi Stalin called for eradicating Sanatan dharma and further comparing Sanatan with Mosquitoes, dengue, corona, and malaria, stated Complainant Lawyer Vineet Jindal.

The complainant further stated that Udhayanidhi Maran’s words show his hatred towards Sanatan Dharma. He is an MLA and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government taking oath to work as per the constitution of our Country and must respect all the regions but he intentionally made a provocative and defamatory statement for the Sanatan Dharma with the intent to promote enmity between groups on the grounds of religion.

By using words like “eradication of Santana dharma’ and comparing Dharma to Mosquitoes, dengue, corona, and malaria and saying that “these things which we cannot oppose, we have to eradicate them. Sanatanam is also like this. Eradication and not opposing Sanatanam has to be our first task” shows his intent of calling and promoting the genocide of Hindu dharma followers, stated the complaint.

Udhayanidhi Stalin by making such a statement has committed offences under sections 153A and B, 295A,298 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code which are cognizable offences and very serious in nature. I, therefore, request you to lodge an FIR against him under the above-said section, added the complainant.

According to the complainant, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Speaking at an event, called for a ‘Sanatana Abolition Conference’. Udhayanidhi Stalin said, “I congratulate the organizers for calling the conference as “eradication of Santana dharma’ instead of ‘opposing Sanatana Dharma’.

“There are some things that we have to eradicate and we can’t merely oppose. Mosquitoes, dengue, corona, and malaria are things that we cannot oppose, we have to eradicate them. Sanatanam is also like this. Eradication and not opposing Sanatanam has to be our first task,” Stalin said.

He further said that Sanatana Dharma was opposed to both equality and social justice.
