Meet Bhanu Athaiya who won India its first Oscars in 1983 for Richard Attenborough’s movie ‘Gandhi’

The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are global film industry awards for creative and technical brilliance. These awards are considered the most prestigious and significant in the entertainment industry. This year, on March 12th, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hosted the 95th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

With India shining brightly at the 95th Academy Awards this year, bagging two awards, one for RRR’s song Naatu Naatu and the other for The Elephant Whisperers, it is a fitting moment to remember Bhanu Athaiya, the first Indian who brought home the coveted statuette in 1983.

Bhanu Athaiya and her early life

Bhanu Athaiya was an Indian costume designer who won the first Academy Award for India for Richard Attenborough’s movie Gandhi, which swept the Oscars in 1983 with eight awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor for Ben Kingsley, for his portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi. Bhanu Athaiya won the award for Best Costume Design along with her British collaborator John Mollo.

Bhanumati Annasaheb Rajopadhye or Bhanu Athaiya was born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra in 1929. She was the third of seven children of Annasaheb Rajopadhye, a painter and photographer from a wealthy family, and Shantabai Rajopadhye. Her father died in 1940.

After finishing her formal education at the age of 17, Bhanu came to Bombay (now Mumbai) and lived with a woman whose mother worked at Eve’s Weekly, a popular magazine. Her job as a magazine illustrator led to a job at a boutique, where she began creating her own designs despite never having attended fashion school. This drew the attention of India’s film industry to her.

The legendary costume designer had a fulfilling career spanning six decades

She began her career as a costume designer in Hindi cinema with Guru Dutt’s 1956 superhit C.I.D. Athiya worked for over six decades in close to a hundred Indian films. Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan, an Oscar-nominated film, was among her credits.

She collaborated with top Bollywood talent and designed costumes for acclaimed Hindi movies like Teesri Manzil, Pyaasa, Kagaz Ke Phool, Guide, Brahmachari, Waqt, Razia Sultan, Karz, 1942 – A Love Story, and Swades, to name a few.

The directors with whom Athaiya worked read like the Who’s Who of Indian cinema, including Raj Kapoor, Guru Dutt, BR Chopra, Yash Chopra, Vijay Anand, Raj Khosla, Ashutosh Gowariker, Jabbar Patel and Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

From Mumtaz’s ensemble in the song Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyaar Ke Charche in Brahmachari (1969), Bhappi Sonie’s superhit Bollywood movie starring Shammi Kapoor to Sadhana’s fitting churidar and knee-length tunic in Yash Chopra’s Waqt (1965). From Waheeda Rehman’s austere look in Guide to Zeenat Aman’s sensuous one in Satyam Shivam Sundaram to Sridevi’s iconic look in Chandni, she was that veteran who shaped the aesthetics of Hindi cinema through her prolific work. Whether conjuring up oomphs or reproducing mundane reality, as in the Oscar-winning film Gandhi, Athaiya understood the importance of her task and executed it flawlessly.

Notably, when she was hired for “Gandhi,” she was by some distance the most in-demand costume designer in India.

“Richard Attenborough was making a complex film and needed someone who knew India inside out,” Athaiya told Eastern Eye, a British weekly newspaper, in an interview published in 2020. “So much had to be contributed, and I was ready for it.”

In 2012, after Athaiya learned she had a brain tumour, she returned her Oscar statuette to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles for safekeeping after her death.

“I have no regrets at all. I am very happy that my Oscar has gone to the right place,” she told the news agency PTI at the time. She had previously donated several documents, photographs, production notes and letters about the making of Gandhi to the Academy.

She died in Mumbai on October 15, 2020. She was 91 years old.

Besides the prestigious Oscars, the legendary costume designer won two National Awards- for Gulzar’s mystery drama Lekin (1990) and the period film Lagaan directed by Ashutosh Gowariker (2001) in her glorifying career which spanned over six decades.

How many times has India brought home the Oscars?

In 1992, nearly a decade after Bhanu Athaiya won India’s first Oscars in 1983 for Gandhi, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organises the Oscars, gave Indian director Satyajit Ray an honorary Oscar “in recognition of his rare mastery of the art of motion pictures, and of his profound humanitarian outlook, which has had an indelible influence on filmmakers and audiences throughout the world.”

17 years later, at the 81st Academy Awards in 2009, legendary music composer A R Rahman and sound engineer Resul Pookutty received the prestigious award for their contributions to Danny Boyle’s record-breaking film Slumdog Millionaire. Rahman won two prizes that night: Best Original Song for Jai Ho, which he co-wrote with lyricist Gulzar, and Best Original Score, while Pookutty received Best Sound Mixing.

This year, once again, India dazzled at the 95th Academy Awards, with RRR’s song Naatu Naatu winning Best Original Music and The Elephant Whisperers winning Best Documentary Short Film.

How many Indian films have been nominated at the Oscars?

Indian films have been nominated three times in the Best International Feature Film category, previously known as Best Foreign Language Film.

Mehboob Khan’s epic Mother India was the first Indian movie to be nominated in 1958. The film, starring Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar and Raaj Kumar, was a massive hit in India and is still considered one of the greatest Indian films ever made.

In 1989, Mira Nair’s feature debut Salaam Bombay! was nominated, also for Best Foreign Language Film. Based on the life of Mumbai’s (then called Bombay) street children, the drama won a number of international awards, including the Camera d’Or and Audience award at the Cannes Film Festival, but eluded the Oscar voters.

Lagaan, the Bollywood musical set in colonial India, was the last film to earn an Oscar nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category in 2002.

Late Indian producer Ismail Merchant and American filmmaker James Ivory received three Best Picture Oscar nominations for their Hollywood films, A Room With a View (1985), Howards End (1992), and The Remains of the Day (1993).

The documentary genre has had the most Indian nominations, beginning with The House That Ananda Built in the Best Documentary (Short) category in 1968.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra, a well-known Bollywood director and producer, was also nominated for an Oscar for one of his early films, An Encounter with Faces. In 1979, the documentary, which focused on the lives of children in orphanages, was nominated for Best Documentary (Short).

In 2022, Writing with Fire, directed by Sushmit Ghosh and Rintu Thomas, made history by becoming the first ever Indian film to be nominated for Best Documentary (Feature).

Rahman’s 2009 success was followed by two further nominations in 2011, for Best Original Song and Best Original Score for the film 127 Hours, his second collaboration with Boyle.

Bombay Jayashri received another music nomination in 2013 for her contribution to the critically acclaimed Ang Lee film Life of Pi. Jayashri was nominated for Best Original Song for her song Pi’s Lullaby, which she wrote and performed.

India qualifies for the World Test Championship final after NZ clinches a thrilling victory against SL, to meet Australia at Oval

0

India has qualified for the World Test Championship as New Zealand managed to defeat Sri Lanka in one of the instant classics.

“India has qualified for the World Test Championship final! They’ll take on Australia at The Oval for the #WTC23 mace!,” tweeted the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday. In order to qualify for the WTC final, India only had two options. India either needed to defeat Australia by a margin of 3-1 or invest their hopes in New Zealand.

On the final day of the fourth Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy India is only a few steps away from draw. But New Zealand went against the odds to defeat Sri Lanka in a dramatic fashion. On Day-5 when rain intervened to change the course of the game, the Kiwis still relied on their chances of chasing down a total of 285.

When the moment called Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell rose to the occasion to keep New Zealand in the game. Their partnership was the turning point of the entire series and for India as well. After Mitchell’s wicket, the game was wide open. Sri Lanka went on to pick up wickets at a regular level. But Williamson ensured that New Zealand maintained a consistent run rate.

Tension started to mount up in the entire stadium. Asitha Fernando held the ball to bowl the final ball of the game. One ball and one run was the difference between the two teams. Fernando produced a fierce bouncer missing Williamson’s bat entirely. Neil Wagner made an effort to complete the run with all his might. Williamson did his role and completed the run before the ball could hit the stumps. The epic clash came to an end and India booked their place in the final of WTC.

Now, even if Sri Lanka manages to win the next Test, they will only go up to 52.78 points. That will still be behind India’s 56.94 if India goes on to lose the Ahmedabad Test. If they draw the game it looks most likely that India will finish on 58.80. Australia has already qualified: even if they lose in Ahmedabad, they will end with a percentage of 64.91.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlights Rahul Gandhi’s anti-India statements, asks for an apology

0

Slamming Rahul Gandhi for “insulting India in London,” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday demanded in Lok Sabha that the Congress leader should be asked to “apologise before the House.”

“Rahul Gandhi, who is a member of this House, insulted India in London. I demand that his statements should be condemned by all members of this House and he should be asked to apologise before the House,” Singh said in the lower house of the Parliament.

During interaction at the Chatham House in London recently, Gandhi alleged that the microphones of Opposition leaders in Parliament are often silenced. He attacked the BJP-led government at the Centre and levelled several allegations.

Gandhi even said that Europe and the US are not doing enough to restore democracy in India as they are getting trade and money from the country.

The Congress leader also alleged that various institutions in the country were under threat.

“It shocked me how successful they have been at capturing the different institutions of our country. Press, Judiciary, Parliament, and Election Commission are all under threat and are controlled in one way or the other,” Gandhi said.

He also termed the RSS a “fundamentalist” and “fascist” organisation alleging that it has captured pretty much all of India’s institutions.

What is the ‘land for railway jobs’ scam case against Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family? Know details

Since Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided various premises owned by Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members in connection with the ‘land for railways jobs’ scam, the case has become the talk of the town. It, therefore, becomes essential to take an account of what is this scam, how it was unearthed, and what proceedings have been done so far by various investigation agencies in this case.

What is land for jobs scam?

The prime allegation, in this case, is that bribes in the form of land were received by Lalu Prasad Yadav, his family members, companies handled by them, and other close aides in exchange for recruitment for the posts of Group D in the Indian Railways in the tenure when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Union Railway Minister.

The case dates back to the era when Lalu Prasad Yadav used to be the Union Railway Minister in the Congress-led UPA-1 (United Progressive Alliance) government. It was in this government from 2004 to 2009 that Lalu Prasad Yadav worked as the Railway Minister. The Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo former chief minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members including his wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, and son Tejashwi Yadav are among the prime accused in this case.

The case was first discussed in 2008-2009

This case first came to light in 2008 when Janata Dal (United) leaders and MPs started making allegations about irregularities in the railway recruitment process and claimed that there is a land-for-jobs scam in which Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members are directly involved. In 2009, Trinamool Congress Party leader Mamata Banerjee became the railway minister in the UPA-2 government. She confirmed in September 2009 that the agency will investigate this case.

At that time, Mamata Banerjee said, “This inquiry is not against Lalu Prasad Yadav. I have respect for him. This is against corruption in a particular department.”

CBI filed a new corruption case in 2021

The CBI initiated a preliminary inquiry in September 2021 into the charges that when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the railway minister during UPA 1, obtained benefits in the form of the transfer of property in the names of his family members in exchange for the appointments in Group “D” posts in various Railway zones.

On May 18, 2022, CBI filed a new case of corruption against Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and his daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, accusing them of obtaining land plots as bribes from some people who were recruited in the Railways. The CBI also named 12 others in this case who were given jobs in the railway zones of Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur.

What did CBI mention in the FIR?

The CBI registered the FIR under IPC section 120-B, which deals with criminal conspiracy, and under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. In the FIR, CBI alleged, “In lieu thereof, the substitutes, who were residents of Patna themselves or through their family members, sold and gifted their land situated at Patna in favor of the family members of Lalu Prasad Yadav and a private company controlled by family members, which was also involved in the transfer of such immovable properties in the name of family members.”

According to the agency, no advertisement or any public notice was issued for such appointment of substitutes in Zonal Railways, yet the appointees who were residents of Patna were appointed in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur. The CBI investigations revealed that Lalu’s family obtained over one lakh square feet of land in this manner for just Rs 26 lakh, despite the fact that the land’s actual value is over Rs 4.39 crore.

The agency said in the FIR, “Enquiry has revealed that about 1,05,292 sq feet of land located in Patna were acquired by family members of Lalu Prasad Yadav. Interestingly, in most of the cases of land transfer, payment to the sellers was shown to be paid in cash. The current value of land parcels, including the land acquired through gift deeds as per existing circle rate, is about Rs 4.39 crore.”

Mentioning the details of the transactions, the CBI further said in its FIR, “Out of seven instances of land transfer, it is revealed that three sale deeds were executed in favor of Rabri Devi, wife of Lalu Yadav, one sale deed was executed in the name of Misha Bharti, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, one sale deed was executed in favor of M/s AK Infosystems Private Limited, in which later Rabri Devi became major shareholder, in the year 2014 and currently she is one of the Director of the Company. Two gift deeds were executed in favor of Hema Yadav, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav.”

Bhola Yadav worked as an executor

In connection with the case, the CBI arrested Bhola Yadav, the former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in July 2022. At the same time, authorities arrested Hridayanand Chaudhary, a railway employee suspected of being a beneficiary of the land-for-jobs scam. Bhola Yadav worked as the prime executed of the transactions in this case. He also pressurized the railway recruitment officers for certain appointments in this case.

In a statement following Bhola Yadav’s arrest, a CBI official stated, “During the investigation, it was found that the then OSD to former railway minister was involved in the alleged conspiracy in the appointment of substitutes. The accused was managing affairs for the transfer of land by the family members of the substitutes to the family members of the former railway minister.”

Raids at the residences of other RJD leaders

On 24th August 2022, the CBI conducted raids at the houses of four RJD leaders in connection with the land-for-jobs scam. The raids were carried out at the premises of RJD MLC Sunil Singh, Rajya Sabha MPs Ashfaq Karim and Faiyaz Ahmed, and former MLC Subodh Rai.

CBI filed a charge sheet in October 2022

On Friday 7th October 2022, the central bureau of investigation (CBI) filed a charge sheet against Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and former union railways minister Lalu Prasad Yadav for cases regarding land-for-job scams. The RJD founder Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and their daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav were all named by the CBI in the matter. 12 other individuals who received employment in the Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur Railway Zones in 2008-2009 were also named in this case.

More raids and investigations

On Monday, 6th March 2022, The CBI reached the residence of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi in Patna in connection with the land-for-job case. Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, two former chief ministers of Bihar, were also questioned by the CBI on Monday in this regard in Delhi and Patna.

On Friday, 10th March 2023, Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided 15 places of Lalu Yadav’s close associates in Delhi, Mumbai, Noida, and Patna. These include Tejashwi Yadav’s house in Delhi and the residences of Lalu’s three daughters Hema, Ragini, and Chanda. Apart from these, the Ghaziabad residence of Lalu’s brother-in-law Jitendra Yadav was also raided. Before this raid, as part of a money laundering investigation into a purported “land-for-jobs” case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched 24 places, including Yadav’s Delhi home, other locations in the national capital area, Patna, Ranchi, and Mumbai. The searches were done based on specific intelligence inputs.

ED claimed recovery worth Rs 600 crores

On Saturday, March 11, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) informed that they had recovered unaccounted cash of Rs 1 Crore, foreign currency including USD 1900 (₹1.55 lakh), 540 gms gold bullion, and more than 1.5 kg of gold jewelry in the raids it carried out on Friday in multiple cities of Bihar against former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family in connection with the land for job scam case. The federal investigation agency added that the searches resulted in the detection of Proceeds of Crime amounting to Rs 600 Crore approximately.

“Searches resulted in the detection of Proceeds of Crime amounting to Rs 600 Crore approximately at this point of time which is in the form of immovable properties of Rs 350 Crore and transactions of Rs 250 Crore routed through various benamidaars,” the ED said in a statement.

Documents leading to more properties worth Rs 200 crores in the scam

According to the agency, it has also recovered a number of other incriminating documents, including various property documents, sale deeds held in the names of family members, and benamidars suggesting the illicit acquisition of large land banks. Apart from these, electronic devices were also seized during the raids.

According to a press release issued by the ED, the inquiry has found that multiple plots of property in prominent places in Patna and other localities were illegally obtained by the family of then-Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in exchange for jobs in the railways. The department said that the present market value of these land parcels is more than Rs 200 crore.

Buying a house worth Rs 150 crore just in Rs 4 lakhs

According to the agency, the probe revealed that a property in New Friends Colony in Delhi, registered in the name of M/s A B Exports Private Limited, a firm owned and controlled by Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and his family, was purchased for merely Rs four lakhs. It was stated that the current market value of this property is about Rs 150 crores. ED also found that this property was being used as a residence of Tejashwi Yadav, even though it is registered in the name of his firm and declared as an office.

“It is suspected that a huge amount of cash/Proceeds of Crime has been infused in purchasing this property and few Mumbai-based entities, dealing in the gems and jewelry sector were used to channel ill-gotten proceeds of crime in this regard. The property has been, on paper declared as the office of M/s A B Exports Private Limited and M/s AK Infosystems Pvt ltd, it is being exclusively used as residential premises by Tejasvi Prasad Yadav, son of Lalu Prasad Yadav. During the searches, Tejasvi Prasad Yadav was found to be staying at this house and was found to be using this house as his residential property,” the ED statement said.

The property acquired by land for jobs scam was sold to a third person

The ED further added that it has found that 4 parcels of lands acquired by the family of Lalu Yadav in just Rs 7.5 Lakhs from poor Group-D applicants were sold to Syed Abu Dojana, Ex-RJD MLA by Rabri Devi with huge gains at Rs 3.5 crore in a collusive deal.

“ED investigation further revealed that a major portion of the amount thus received, was transferred to the account of Sh. Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. Investigations revealed that in a similar fashion, lands were taken from several poor parents and candidates in lieu of Group D jobs in the Railways. It has been revealed during the investigation that in many Railways Zones, more than 50% of recruited candidates were from Lalu Yadav families’ constituencies. Further investigation in this regard is ongoing,” it said.

Other cases against the Yadav family

This is not the only scam in which the family of Lalu Prasad Yadav and his close aides are involved. There are many other cases against them. Notable among them are the fodder scam in which Lalu Prasad Yadav is convicted and sentenced to jail for various terms in several cases in this scam. Besides, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi are also accused in a disproportionate assets case.

The ED is also investigating a money laundering case against Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar. Lalu Prasad Yadav is also an accused in the IRCTC railway hotels tender allocation scam case.

Gurugram: Class 8 girl abducted and gang-raped, video reaches father via social media, police starts probe

On March 12, Gurugram police registered a case against three, including two minors, for the alleged gang-rape of a 14-year-old girl in December 2022. As per reports, a complaint in the matter was filed by the victim’s father, who came to know about the incident via a viral video that the accused made while raping her.

In his complaint, the father stated that the class-8 student was abducted on December 18, 2022, by three youths during a sports event. They took her to a hilly area and raped her one by one. They made an objectionable video of her and threatened to make it viral on the internet if she ever told anyone about the incident.

The accused uploaded a video on social media that reached the victim’s father. In his complaint, he said that the girl did not reveal the incident to date. However, on Saturday, he came to know about the video. When he talked to the girl, she told him about the incident, after which he filed a complaint.

Two of the accused have been identified as class 11 and class 12 students of another school. The third accused is a school dropout. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, Upasana Singh, said, “Police are conducting raids to arrest the accused, and a medical examination of the girl has been done. The accused have been identified and will be arrested soon.”

An FIR under sections 363 (abduction) and 376-D A (gang rape on a woman under sixteen years of age) of the IPC and section 13/6 of the POCSO Act at Sohna Sadar Police Station was filed based on the complaint of the father.

Speaking to OpIndia, Inspector Jai Singh, Sohna Sadar Police Station, said, “An FIR was registered immediately based on the complaint of the father. We raided a few locations last night but the culprits are yet to be arrested. The investigation is underway and the accused will be arrested soon.”

95th Academy Awards: Indian documentary film ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ wins the Oscar

On Monday (March 13), the Indian short documentary film ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won the ‘Best Documentary Short’ category at the 95th edition of the Oscars.

Directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga and Achin Jain, the documentary short scripted history by being the first-ever recipient of the Academy Award for an Indian production in the category.

The 41-minute long short competed against other acclaimed films including ‘Stranger At The Gate’, ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect’, ‘How Do You Measure a Year?’ and ‘Haulout.’

In a tweet, producer Guneet Monga wrote, “We just win the first-ever Oscar for an Indian Production! Two women did this! I am still shivering.”

It must be mentioned that only two other Indian shorts, namely, ‘The House That Ananda Built’ (1969) and ‘An Encounter With Faces’ (1979) had previously been nominated in this category.

‘The Elephant Whisperers’ narrates the story of two orphan baby elephants that were adopted by an indigenous family from the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu.

Interestingly, it also happens to be the directional debut of Kartiki Gonsalves. The short documentary is available on the video streaming service, Netflix.

Besides the ‘Elephant Whisperers’, the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the movie ‘RRR’ has won the Academy Award in the ‘best original song’ category.

The song has been composed by veteran music director MM Keeravaani and penned by Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj. The film ‘All that Breathes’, directed by Shaunak Sen, was nominated for Oscars in the ‘Best Documentary Feature Film category’ but it failed to bag the coveted award.

Oscars 2023: ‘Naatu Naatu’ wins Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards, live performance wins hearts

The hit sensation ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the blockbuster Indian film RRR won the Best Original Song award at the Oscars 2023 on March 12, 2023. Music composer MM Keeravaani and lyricist Chandrabose accepted the award.

Keeravaani said in his speech, “Thank you, Academy. I grew up listening to the carpenters, and now here I am with Oscars.” He sang, “There was only one wish on my mind, so was Rajmouli’s and my family’s. RRR has to win. Pride of every India. And must put me if the world.”

The song was performed live at the Dobly Theatre for the Oscars by the singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. Introduced by Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone as a “total banger” and “the first song ever nominated for an Oscar from an Indian production”, the performance reproduced the dancing-till-you-drop narrative of the sequence from the film, which was set in 1920s India.

The thrilling dance number from RRR at the 95th Academy Awards had the entire audience grooving, followed by a standing ovation. While Ram Charan and NTR Rama Rao Jr. were on hand to celebrate “RRR’s” success, they did not participate in the telecast’s dancing.

The film proved to be a major breakthrough for the Indian film industry. The film was made for around Rs 240 crores globally on the opening day. To date, it has made around Rs 1,200 crores worldwide.

Speaking to ET, RRR lead Ram Charan said, “I feel it’s no more our song. It’s become the public’s song. Different age groups, different cultures… I don’t know if they even understand the lyrics of it, but… they just started to embrace this all over the world, from Japan to the U.S.”

Earlier, RRR’s Naatu Naatu won the best original song trophy at the Golden Globes 2023.
