United Kingdom: Islamists attack Hindus in Leicester city who were protesting against earlier violence by Islamists on Hindus

After hundreds of people crowded the streets in the city’s eastern section, violence erupted on Friday night in Leicester, United Kingdom. This comes after a spate of targeted attacks on Hindus followed the Asia Cup India-Pakistan cricket match on August 28, when armed Islamists attacked Hindus and their residences in the vicinity.

Police officers have swarmed the streets of Leicester, exercising disposal powers and encouraging peace as disturbance persists on the streets following a protest by Hindus demanding action against the violence by Islamists. The protest was disrupted by Islamists as they hurled glass bottles at the protestors. A Saffron flag was also desecrated by a mob of Islamists in front of the police.

As per an official statement by the Leicestershire police, the violence erupted on Saturday evening after a group of men staged an ‘unplanned protest.’ “Parts of East Leicester experienced serious disorder yesterday evening (Saturday 17 September) into this morning (Sunday) when large crowds formed after groups of young men began an unplanned protest,” the statement reads.

“Officers attempted to engage with the group and remain with them whilst additional officers were called in. They sought to keep actions lawful but, regrettably, the situation led to disorder,” it further reads adding that two people have been so far arrested from the site. A total of 27 people have been arrested since the dispute began in the city.

On Saturday, Twitter user and Analyst Anshul Saxena shared some details on Twitter showing how plans were made to attack Hindus in the city. Anshul shared how radicals and Islamists were sharing the stories on social media and planning to attack Hindus.

The violence after the victory of India over Pakistan in the Asia Cup

Violence erupted in Leicester city following the defeat of Pakistan by India in the Asia Cup match on August 28. According to accounts, Muslims, primarily Pakistani Islamists, assaulted Hindus and their homes in the area. Several videos of the incident went viral a week after the incident.

The videos showed Hindus being assaulted in their cars while parked in their driveways, and Hindu families huddled in their houses, stunned, while massive groups wandered the street vandalising property. The majority of these incidents of violence and provocative religious sloganeering were reported in the city’s Belgrave region.

Far-left ‘activist’ Kavita Krishnan bizarrely invokes ‘Sanghis’ after Islamists beat up Iranian woman for wearing hijab inappropriately

On Sunday (September 18), far-left ‘activist’ Kavita Krishnan drew false equivalence between Sanghis (members/supporters of RSS) and Islamists who tortured Iranian woman Mahsa Amini to death for not wearing a hijab.

In a tweet, the far-left activist wrote, “Salaams to the amazing Iranian women throwing off their hijabs in solidarity with #MahsaAmini – the young woman who died of a heart attack induced by custodial torture by Iran’s “morality police force”, which had detained her for not wearing a hijab.”

Her social media post was in reference to the protests in western Iran where women publicly took off their hijabs over the murder of a 22-year-old woman Mahsa Amini for not wearing a hijab.

Soon after, Islamists began slamming the former Communist leader for questioning the authority of Sharia (Islamic law). Chief spokesperson of the Peace Party, Shadab Chauhan, accused Kavita Krishnan of being more dangerous than the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).

“…So you support morality police gangs that terrorise women for not wearing hijab? Then kindly don’t pretend to care about Muslim women fighting for the right to wear hijab. You don’t own women. Stop telling women what to do,” Kavita Krishnan responded.

The left-wing activist, who had been championing women’s rights with Islamists, got a reality check when Shadab told her that all Muslim women are bound by Sharia law and how Hijab is more important than gold and diamond.

A rattled Kavita Krishnan then invoked ‘Hindu supremacy’ to reinstate her secular credentials after having run the risk of being viewed as anti-Islam.

“You have no business binding women to any law in the name of religion. Just as Hindu supremacists have no business telling Muslims they can’t pray in public spaces etc. You and they are the same ilk,” she said falling back on false equivalence.

Shadab then warned her against interfering in the religious affairs of Islam. “Yes it’s my business and Constitutional right to preach and propagate my religion. Muslim women never leave Hijab and I challenge you Kavita Krishnan that u can’t interfere in our shariya,” he taught her a lesson in Islam and feminism.

After co-opting Islamists for years in her ‘activism’. Kavita Krishnan was slammed by one of her own. Having drawn their ire, the left-wing activist quickly tried to undo the damage.

She proceeded to compare the brutal torture of Mahsa Amini, caused due to her choice of not wearing a hijab, to the opposition by Hindu groups to selectively entertain Muslim religious attire in government schools.

“Outraged at Iran’s morality police imposing hijab? Are you also outraged at Sanghi thugs that terrorise hijab-wearing women? Outraged at Sanghi thugs that terrorise hijab-wearing women? Are you also outraged at Iran’s morality police that terrorise women who don’t wear hijab?”

Although Mahsa Amini lost her life in exercising her choice in Iran, no female Muslim student was hurt for exercising her choice of wearing burqa to school (despite a clear violation of school rules).

The Karnataka High Court had held that Hijab is not an essential practice in Islam and that uniform (in schools/ colleges) is a reasonable restriction on the Right to Religion. This does not bar Muslim women from exercising their choice on the streets or in public places.

No State government stopped Muslim women from wearing or removing their hijab in public, unlike the case in Iran. Given that left-wing activists rely on Islamists to amplify their messages, they need to use the ‘Hindu supremacy troupe’ from time to time to keep the extremists on their side.

False equivalence and bizarre comparisons between apples and oranges are the only way out when they run the risk of upsetting their core followers while championing women’s rights.

Pakistan: No justice to Ahmadi community after 16 Ahmadi graves were desecrated in Punjab for using Islamic symbols

0

The Ahmadi community in Pakistan’s Punjab province has sought justice from the Pakistani government after Islamists allegedly desecrated sixteen graves at a cemetery for placing Islamic symbols like verses from the Quran on gravestones. The Pakistani government doesn’t consider Ahmadis to be Muslims, and the Ahmadis are not allowed to call themselves Muslims in Pakistan by a law passed in 1974..

Aamir Mahmood, the spokesperson of Jamat Ahmadiya Punjab said on August 25 that unidentified persons desecrated sixteen graves of Ahmadis in the community graveyard in Chak 203 RB Manawala, Faisalabad on August 2.

There have previously been a number of such incidents in various parts of Pakistan in which the graves of Ahmadi community members were desecrated by religious fanatics.

On July 30, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Malik Ilyas Awan submitted a letter to the deputy commissioner of Khushab, a district in Pakistan’s Punjab province’s Sargodha Division, demanding him to expel Ahmadis, a minority Islamic sect. He also demanded that the district’s deputy commissioner withdraw the security provided to the region’s Ahmadi people.

In his letter, the leader of the PML-Q, an ally of Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), argued that Ahmadis should be confined to Chenab Nagar, Pakistan’s only Ahmadi-majority city.

On May 19, one Ishfaq Ahmed’s grave was desecrated in Peshawar. A 36-year-old Ahmadi man was brutally murdered in front of his two children.

The horrors of hatred against Ahmadiya Muslims have been on rise this year. In February, nearly 50 graves of belonging to the Ahmadi community were allegedly desecrated by the local police and Maulanas for using Islamic symbols on gravestones at a cemetery in Punjab, Pakistan.

Aamir Mahmood, the spokesperson for Jamaat Ahmadiya Punjab, had stated that a group of residents in Premkot, district Hafizabad, around 110 kilometers from Lahore, approached the police and complained that Islamic verses were carved on the tombstones of a number of graves at the Ahmadi graveyard. According to him, the gang intimidated Ahmadis not to exhibit Islamic verses/symbols on their homes or graves. Aamir Mahmood told PTI that the local police along with some Maulanas and lawyers reached the Ahmadi graveyard and demolished the gravestones of 45 graves inscribed with Islamic verses.

Who are the Ahmadiyas?

In 1889, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, a distinguished Muslim scholar and reformer, established this Community in Qadian, India. He formed a movement that denounced terrorism and the use of violent action to preach religion, i.e. the contemporary notion of ‘Jihad.’ The extreme ulemas are adamantly opposed to this tolerant interpretation of Islam. For years, they have used it as a justification to exclude this minority from Islam. Mullahs, politicians, and the military in authority in many Islamic states, particularly Pakistan, have conspired to repress and persecute the Ahmadiyas.

In 1974, ZA Bhutto, Pakistan’s then-Prime Minister, regarded it as a political advantage to impose “non-Muslim” status on Muslim Ahmadis by a constitutional amendment. The “mullahs” enthusiastically supported this modification. This legislation cleared the path for the persecution of the Community. Since then, the government, the police, and the Mullahs have collaborated to persecute Ahmadis.

Ahmadi community in the Islamic state of Pakistan have been barred from the Pakistani government’s minority commission, which is tasked with protecting the rights of the country’s minorities. According to the Pakistani constitution, Ahmadis are not Muslims, and their places of worship are not called mosques. Furthermore, their houses of worship cannot resemble a Masjid or Mosque, nor may they have structures such as minarets.

Chhattisgarh: Fashion Show organised at Salasar Balaji temple in Raipur, complaint filed as Bajrang Dal activists protest

A fashion show reportedly took place in the Salasar Balaji temple in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. It was stalled after Bajrang Dal members objected to the fashion show at a Hindu religious site. The event was planned by a company named FDCA at the Salasar Temple under the jurisdiction of the Telibandha police station. Arif and Manish Soni are reported to be the organisers of the fashion show.

In the video, it can be seen that Bajrang Dal workers are protesting against the event and seeking an explanation from the organisers for holding such an event in a temple. It can also be seen in the video that a woman wearing a hijab is standing and trying to defend the event from the side of the organisers. During the confrontation, Bajrang Dal workers assert that the incident has offended the religious sentiments of Hindus.

The temple’s hall was transformed into a stage for the fashion show. Visitors were also invited to attend the function. Workers from the Bajrang Dal arrived at the scene and demonstrated against the event as soon as the word spread. When the Bajrang Dal district convener Ravi Wadhwani arrived, he engaged with the event’s organisers.

According to Wadhwani, a complaint over this incident has been submitted to the Telibandha police station, and an FIR will be filed against the organisers for hurting religious sensibilities. Wadhwani asserted that the event offended Hindus’ religious feelings and that it was improper to host such events in temples. OpIndia tried to contact Wadhwani but to no avail.

Jacqueline Fernandez wanted to marry conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar asked her to stay away: Report

In the latest development in the money laundering case filed against Sukesh Chandrashekhar, it has been reported that actress Jacqueline Fernandez pondered marrying the conman. According to a report by India Today, Jacqueline even informed some of her friends that she had discovered her “dream man” and that he would soon be in front of everyone. Sukesh Chandrashekhar was detained by Delhi Police in the Rs 200 crore extortion case now being investigated by the ED, in which Jacqueline Fernandez also has been named as an accused as she had received gifts worth crores from the conman.

Jacqueline had gotten emotionally attached to Sukesh, according to insiders, until one day her hairdresser gave the celebrity a news article outlining the conman’s criminal past. Jacqueline read the news story and was indignant. Jacqueline contacted Pinky Irani, who was given the responsibility of introducing the celebrity to the con artist and was purportedly paid in crores of rupees for the assignment. Pinky Irani attempted to sway Jacqueline from her position when she informed her about Sukesh’s history.

Salman Khan, as many people are aware, is quite close to Jacqueline and has always stood by her at times. According to reports, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar had both counselled Jacqueline Fernandes to avoid Sukesh Chandrashekhar. “She was advised by her co-stars to be wary of Sukesh,” a senior police officer said, “but she continued meeting him and accepting expensive gifts like cars and pedigree pets.”

The fraudster allegedly pampered Jacqueline Fernandez with limited edition perfumes, expensive bags and dresses, as well as booked private jet and other luxury items. The ED estimates that Sukesh Chandrashekhar had given gifts worth Rs 5.71 crore to her. Apart from that, Jacqueline’s relatives were given a hefty sum of US$173,000 and 27,000 Australian dollars as loans. The gifts included three Persian cats each worth rupees 9 lakh, an Arabian horse that costs 52 lakh rupees, a diamond set with 15 pairs of earrings, expensive crockery, designer bags of expensive brands like Gucci and Chanel, two Gucci brand gym outfits, several pairs of Louis Vuitton brand footwear, two Hermes brand bracelets, a Mini Cooper car, and many Rolex brand watches.

She was also given the BMW X5 car by Sukesh Chandrashekhar, and he had also reportedly gifted a Maserati car to Jacqueline’s parents and a Porsche car from Bahrain to her mother.

Notably, Jacqueline Fernandez was charged as an accused in the Rs 215 crore extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar by the Enforcement Directorate. According to the central agency, Jacqueline was aware that Sukesh was an embezzler.

It was also recently claimed that Jacqueline ignored Sukesh’s criminal history. As stated in a chargesheet filed by ED, the actress’ family and friends ‘benefited’ from her apparent affair with Sukesh. “Jacqueline Fernandez was well aware about the criminal antecedents of Sukesh Chandrashekhar and also the fact that Leena Maria Paul is his wife in February 2021. She consciously chose to overlook his criminal past and continued to indulge in financial transactions with him,” the chargesheet reads.

On Wednesday, Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez was questioned for almost eight hours by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with the extortion case. During the questioning, Jacqueline Fernandez confessed to being in a six-month relationship with Chandrashekhar but claimed she was unaware of his crimes.

In connection with the same issue, investigators have summoned Jacqueline’s fashion designer, who lives in Mumbai. On Monday, the EOW team will question her. Sukesh Chandrashekhar sent a hefty portion of money to Jacqueline’s dress designer and also delivered her various expensive garments, according to the probe.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, which has a history of defending accused in terrorism cases, now bats for Waqf in Delhi High Court: Details

On Friday (September 16), Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (JuH) moved the Delhi High Court against a petition, which challenged the draconian provisions of the Waqf Act.

As per reports, the Islamic outfit opposed the petition by BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay and urged the court to hear all State Waqf Boards before passing a verdict on the matter.

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind claimed that the petition would impact the institution of Waqf in the country, which is supposedly based on the Islamic tradition of philanthropy, charity and merit.

The matter was heard by a 2-Judge Bench of Justices Satish Chandra Sharma and Subramonium Prasad. “The institution of waqf is well recognised in our country with a comprehensive legal mechanism in place for the same,” JuH said in its petition

It further added, “‘Waqf’ refers to Muslim religious endowments and institutions of various kinds recognised all over the world as an Islamic tradition of merit, charity and philanthropy.”

The Islamic outfit accused the BJP leader of filing petitions against the practices of the Muslim community and using the legal system as a tool to harass them. “The line of petitions before the courts in India is being used by him as a tool to harass Muslims as a community,” it argued.

“This Hon’ble court, while granting any indulgence to him while entertaining his petition must examine malafide intent of scrupulous litigants like the present petitioner,” JuH demanded.

The Background of the case

BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay had earlier moved the Delhi High Court challenging Sections 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 14 of the Waqf Act. He argued that the legislation is against the idea of secularism and that no similar law exists for adherents of other religions.

Upadhyay pointed out that the Waqf Boards and Waqf Tribunal were conferred special status by the Parliament at the cost of the Indian taxpayers. He added that no safeguards are been provided to those whose properties have been claimed by Waqf.

In his petition, the BJP leader said that Waqf owns 8 lakh hectares of land in India and has 6.6 lakh registered properties. In this way, Waqf is the third largest landowner in the country after the Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Defence.

When the Delhi High Court sought his comments about the petition of Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind, he dubbed the Islamic outfit as a separatist organisation with a history of supporting Triple Talaq.

Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind and its history of defending terrorists

JUH, one of the most influential and largest Islamic organisations, has provided legal support to Muslims accused of terrorism cases for over a decade now. It has defended its actions, saying that they provide legal services to ‘innocent Muslims’.

The legal cell, set up by JUH president Maulana Arshad Madani in 2007, takes up the cases and enlists lawyers to defend the terror accused in the courts.

According to a New Indian Express report, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has offered its services to around 700 accused. What is worrying about such interventions is that they have been able to get acquittals of at least 192 terror accused since 2007.

Most of the acquittals did not take place owing to the proven innocence of the accused. Instead, the Muslim men were released due to a lack of evidence or shoddy investigation by the police.

Some of the other cases in which Jamiat has come forward to provide legal aid to terror-accused:

‘No multiple videos, no suicide attempts’ – Mohali Police and Chandigarh University refute reports in the the video leak case

On September 18, Mohali Police refuted claims made by news agencies, media houses, and social media users that multiple videos of Chandigarh University’s female students taking baths were leaked by a female student of the University. The Police further refuted the claims that eight girls tried to commit suicide, and one of them allegedly died.

Mohali SSP Vivek Soni said, “So far in our investigation, we have found out that there is only one video of the accused herself. She has not recorded any other video of anyone else. Even the [accused] student did not say to herself that she made someone else’s video. Electronic devices and mobile phones have been taken into custody and will be sent for forensic examination today itself.”

Further talking to the media, SSP Soni said, “No suicide attempt or death has taken place. One student who was taken in an ambulance was suffering from anxiety, and our team is in contact with her. Apart from the video of one student, no other video has come to our notice.”

While asked why FIR was registered if no other girl’s video was leaked, SSP Soni said, “When we were informed about the incident, it was said that there might be videos of other girls as well. We were bound to initiate the investigation as per the law. Filing an FIR does not mean the accused is guilty. It is a standard procedure that we follow to initiate an investigation.”

Speaking about the protests, SSP Soni said protests happened because of the rumours. “We cannot give clean chit to anyone before completing the investigation,” he added. SSP Soni also urged media and social media users to restrain from publishing anything without verification.

Chandigarh University also claims the same

The Chandigarh University administration has also claimed that the reports of suicide attempts by girls are baseless and no student attempted suicide. They also said there were no multiple videos of other girls and only the accused girl had taken her own videos.

Speaking to the media, Chandigarh University officials said, “There are rumours that seven girls have committed suicide whereas the fact is that no girl has attempted any such step. No girl has been admitted to hospital in the incident.” They further added, “All the rumors of objectionable videos shot of other girl students are totally false and baseless. No videos were found of any student who is objectionable except a personal video shot by a girl who was shared by her with her boyfriend.”

Speaking to the media, the authorities said, “Some girls fainted during agitation, and medical attention was provided to those students.” Furthermore, the University authorities said that the investigation of videos had been taken up by the Police. “The University itself had reported to the Police about the matter. Police are investigating the matter, and FIR has been registered under IT Act and other relevant Sections. More information will be provided by the Police after the detailed investigation.”

The Chandigarh University video leak case

On September 18, it was revealed that a female student of Chandigarh University allegedly made nude videos of fellow female students of the University while they were taking baths and sent them to a man from Shimla. Furthermore, media reports suggested that the University administration allegedly tried to suppress the matter and did not inform the Police or take any action. Irked by the University Authorities, the students started protesting, following which Police were called. The Police used lathi-charge to disperse the crowd after some students allegedly overturned PCR vans.

The matter is under investigation, and the exact details of the case will be revealed once the Police finish the probe.

Iranian women take off hijab to protest against ‘morality police’ over the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini

On Saturday, protests erupted in western Iran with Iranian women publicly taking off their hijabs over the death of a 22-year-old woman Mahsa Amini. Amini was detained by Iran’s ‘Morality Police’ for wearing the Hijab in an ‘improper manner’ as she had not fully covered her hair. She was arrested by the ‘Morality Police’ and then assaulted in the police van while being driven to a detention center for a “re-education lesson”.

Several videos emerging from the protests have gone viral on social media showing protestors shouting anti-government slogans as they gathered in Saqqez, the hometown of Mahsa Amini while mourning the 22-year-old who died in a hospital in Tehran.

Masih Alinejad, an Iranian journalist and activist shared a video on Twitter and wrote, “Women of Iran-Saghez removed their headscarves in protest against the murder of Mahsa Amini 22 Yr old woman by hijab police and chanting: death to dictator! Removing the hijab is a punishable crime in Iran. We call on women and men around the world to show solidarity.”

In another tweet, Masih Alinejad, wrote, “This is the real Iran, Security forces in Iran’s Saqqez opened fire at peaceful protesters following the burial of #Mahsa_Amini. Several protesters have been injured. First Hijab police killed a 22 Yr old girl and now using guns and tear gas against grieving people.”

“Death to the dictator,” the mob screamed, referring to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as several women removed their headscarves. Protests spread to Sanandaj, the regional capital, and lasted late into the night. Crowds chanted on social media, “Saqez is not alone, it is supported by Sanandaj.”

In Saqqez city the woman protestors took their Hijabs off as a mark of protest against the mandatory veiling.

According to Kairash, the victim’s brother, the police van obstructed his sister’s path and abducted her. When Kairash tried to stop his sister from being carried away, the cops assaulted and twisted his arm. They informed him when he untangled himself that Mahsa would be taken to the station and released after a one-hour ‘re-education class.’

Chandigarh University: Eight girls attempt suicide after a classmates leaks nude videos of almost 60 students, probe underway

On September 17, a shocking incident occurred at Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, where a female student allegedly leaked nude videos of over 60 female students taking baths in the hostel. Following the information of leaked videos reached the students, eight of them tried to commit suicide. Reports suggest one of the female students whose video was leaked has died. However, the Police denied the reports of death so far.

SSP Mohali Vivek Soni said, “There were some rumours that multiple videos were made by the accused. We are investigating the matter. There are no reports of any death so far. I would like to urge everyone not to spread rumours.” When asked about the leaked videos on social media, SSP said the Police are collecting evidence, and he would brief the media once he has more information on the matter.

As the students of the University came to know about the incident, they gathered outside its gates and started protests while demanding justice for the victims. As per reports, the girl who leaked the videos has been arrested by the Police, and a probe into the matter is underway. The girl was sending the videos to a boy in Shimla who leaked the videos on social media.

A case has been registered against the accused girl under Sections 354C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the IT Act at the Gharuan Police station. The Police said in a statement that the accused is a first-year MBA student at the University.

Following the reports of massive protests, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains urged the protesting students to maintain law and order.

He tweeted, “I humbly request all the students of Chandigarh University to remain calm, no one guilty will be spared. It’s a very sensitive matter & relates to dignity of our sisters & daughters. We all including media should be very very cautious,it is also test of ours now as a society.”

Female students learned about the leaked videos

The girl who leaked the videos allegedly sent them to a person from Shimla who uploaded the videos on social media platforms. Some of the girls came to know about the videos and caught the culprit. There are videos of the accused where she accepted that she made the videos and sent them to a man from Shimla. Upon questioning her, they found out that she recorded a video of around 60 girls.

Hundreds of students reached campus on Saturday night after the authorities at the University allegedly tried to suppress the matter. However, it is unclear if the reports of university authorities trying to cover up the incident were true or not.

As the students were agitated, the authorities called the Police. Reportedly students got irked when the Police tried to disperse the crowd and overturned PCR vans. The Police had to use lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.

Chandigarh University is a private University located in Mohali. It is not the Central Government-funded Panjab University that is located in Chandigarh.

Uttar Pradesh: Madarsa representatives to hold convention after Yogi govt directs survey of unrecognised Islamic schools

On Sunday (September 18), a convention of madarsas will be held at the Darul Uloom Deoband in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The development came days after the Yogi Adityananth-led-Uttar Pradesh government announced that a survey of unrecognised Islamic seminaries will be conducted across the State.

The convention was earlier scheduled to take place on September 22 but has now been preponed to Sunday (Sunday 18). According to the Vice-Chancellor (Darul Uloom Deoband) Abul Qasim Nomani, a total of 250 madrassa representatives will attend the programme.

“In this meeting the issue of government survey in non-aided and self-financed madrasas would be discussed in detail,” seminary spokesperson Ashraf Usman had earlier remarked.

The objective behind conducting the survey is to gather information about the basic facilities, teachers and curriculum taught at the unrecognised madrassas. Besides, information regarding the ownership of the madrassa, affiliation, funding, place of operations and availability of toilets, furniture, electricity, and potable water will be collected.

The survey is in line with the requirement of NCPCR (National Commission for Protection of Child Rights) to provide basic facilities to madrassa students. Following the Sunday convention, madrassa owners and Darul Uloom Deoband will together decide the future course of action.

Opposition cries foul, claims evil intent of BJP

On Thursday (September 15), the district administration of Lucknow and the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madarsa Education began its survey with the Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama in the city.

According to Lucknow minority officer Sone Kumar, a 12-point proforma has been created by the State government for the purpose of collecting information. The move has drawn the ire of the Opposition with BSP supremo Mayawati accusing the BJP of terrorising Muslims.

She claimed, “The complaints of the Muslim community being exploited, neglected and being affected by riots have been common since the time of the Congress, and now they are being oppressed and terrorised by the BJP who came to power by doing narrow politics in the name of appeasement. This is sad and condemnable.”

Mayawati added, “The BJP government has an evil intent on madarsas in Uttar Pradesh. The attempts to interfere in the private madrassas, which run on donations by the community, in the name of survey is inappropriate. They should focus on improving the condition of the government and government-aided madrassas,” she said.

The idea of surveying unrecognised madarsas has been criticised by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind as well.
