Islamists triggered after Grammy winner Ricky Kej shares video tour of Ram Mandir site in Ayodhya, says he can’t wait for the temple to be built

Ricky Kej, a two-time Grammy Award winner, recently visited the Ram Mandir construction site in Ayodhya. The composer was overjoyed and in awe of what he saw at the location. The 41-year-old musician took to Twitter to share his elation with his followers.

The musician posted a 40-second video tour of the site in which he described the magnificence of the upcoming Ram Mandir. He captioned his Tweet, “Visited the Ram Temple site in Ayodhya. Absolutely amazed 🙂 A monument that will last over 1000 years! We are the generation that saw it built 🙂 @narendramodi @ShriRamTeerth”

In the video, Kej remarked how grateful he is to be seeing the temple site. The musician continued by saying that he is looking forward to the temple.

“I am absolutely privileged and honoured to be at the Ram Temple site in Ayodhya. It is such a beautiful location. If you just look around over here, it is just unbelievable the kind of construction that is happening here. I can’t wait for this temple to be built,” Kej said in his video.

The ‘Divine Tides’ album’s creator can be seen wandering near the location where Lord Ram’s statue would be installed as part of the temple as he further tells his fans, “I am actually right at the place where the statue of Lord Ram is going to be erected. It is at the heart of the temple. I feel extremely privileged and I hope for everyone in the world to come and experience the temple and they get their blessings over here,” said Kej.

Islamists triggered after Ricky Kej shares video tour of Ram Mandir site in Ayodhya

Kej expressed his thrill and joy in witnessing the temple site in Ayodhya, however, his post left the Islamists on the microblogging site Twitter extremely triggered. An irked Twitter user named Khan_Khan commented that the land was received as charity. “Dan my mili land hai ye….. Always u n coming generations will remember the history of justice in Barbi masjid land.”

Another Islamist going by the handle @AyeshWaseem3 wrote in Hindi which translates to, “Oh God it hurts a lot”.

Kej’s video not only triggered the Islamists but many leftist ‘liberals’ also suffered a meltdown seeing the post. Suchitra Karthikeyan, a journalist with The Hindu responded, “Oh come on!!! India’s only multi-grammy winner becomes ‘Bhakt’ suddenly??”

Interestingly, this is not the first time Islamists and their supporters have been riled up; history has it that anytime in the recent past the Ram Mandir topic is raised, Islamists have had a similar meltdown.

Islamists suffer a meltdown over the issue of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya

In 2021, Islamists on social media continued to whine and cry for the second year in a row over the Supreme Court’s verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi. Hashtags such as #BabriMasjidVictimOfInjustice had trended on social media, pointing out that the judgment favouring Hindus was a form of injustice against Muslims.

In 2020, as well, when the entire country was in the festive mood on the occasion of the historic Bhoomi Pujan of the holy Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, the Islamists in the country continued their usual act of spewing venom against the Hindus on an auspicious day.

Suffering a huge meltdown on social media platforms, Islamists not only rejected the idea of constructing a Ram Mandir at the historic site but also discredited the Supreme Court judgement on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case to claim that site at which Ram Mandir is being built will always be ‘Babri Masjid’ to them, ignoring the reality that they failed to prove it at the court.

The Islamists had taken to social media to spread hate on this auspicious day by trending hashtags like #ReturnBabriLandToMuslims, #5AugustBlackDay and #BabriZindaHai.

Argentina expresses interest in buying Tejas fighter aircraft during EAM Jaishankar’s visit, bilateral trade in own currencies proposed

The demand for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas in the world military market is increasing due to their unique features. As equivalent aircraft from other countries are expensive and require high-maintenance, Tejas is gradually getting ready to thunder in the sky around the world. After Malaysia, Colombia and several other countries, now South American nation Argentina has shown interest in buying Tejas. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed this during his visit to the country.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar acknowledged Argentine interest in the Tejas fighter aircraft and highlighted the importance of the proposal in enhancing the strategic quotient of bilateral relationships. A joint press statement issued by both countries after the Joint Commission Meeting said, “EAM, acknowledging Argentine interest in the Made in India TEJAS fighter aircraft for Argentine Air Force, highlighted importance of the proposal in enhancing strategic quotient of the bilateral relationship.”

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Argentina Minister of Foreign Affairs Santiago Cafiero jointly presided over the Joint Commission Meeting in Buenos Aires. During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of bilateral ties in defence, nuclear energy, space, pharma, science and technology, yoga, climate change and economic cooperation.

It is notable that Argentina is the first Latin American nation to show interest in acquiring Tejas for its air force. Before this, several other countries including Australia, Egypt, the USA, Indonesia, and the Philippines have shown interest in buying the fighter made by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

India and Argentina discussed several other issues, and one of the most significant among them was a proposal to conduct bilateral trade in local currencies. The joint statement said that both countries will ask their Central Banks to carry out studies for the development of a payment mechanism in local currencies so that they don’t have to depend on third-party currencies like the Dollar and Euro.

The govt of Argentina also informed that India has expressed its support for the inclusion of Argentina in an expanded BRICS group.

During his South America visit, the External Affairs minister visited Brazil and Paraguay apart from Argentina. During this visit, S Jaishankar inaugurated the premises of the newly opened Indian Embassy in Paraguay and participated in Joint Commission Meetings (JCM) with his counterparts in Brazil and Argentina.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee named the LCA Tejas

Tejas is a single-engine light combat aircraft manufactured in India. It is a lightweight multi-role fighter jet. Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has designed Tejas in collaboration with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The ADA works under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited is an Indian state-owned aerospace and defence company.

In the 80s, India started the project of making Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) to replace the old MiG-21 fighter aircraft. In 2003, the LCA was officially named Tejas. It was named Tejas by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Tejas means brightness. It is the smallest and lightest of its class of supersonic fighters.

Different variants of Tejas

Tejas got approval for initial operations in 2011 and then final operations in 2019. The first squadron of this aircraft was ready for operation in 2016. Currently, India manufactures three variants of the fighter plane, including Tejas Mark 1, Tejas Mark 1A, and Tejas Trainer. Work is underway to develop another variant Tejas Mark 2 which is expected to be ready by 2026.

The Ministry of Defence had signed a Rs 48,000-crore deal with Hindustan Aeronautics in February last year to procure 83 Tejas for the Indian Air Force (IAF). Apart from this, the IAF’s top air fleet currently includes Sukhoi Su-30MKI, Rafale, Mirage, and MiG-29. In 2023, the delivery of Tejas to the Indian Air Force will start.

Salient features of the LCA

50 percent of the spare parts of LCA are made in India. It uses Israel’s anti-radar technology. It can hit 10 targets simultaneously. It needs a runway of only 460 meters to fly, due to which it can easily take off from any warship and land back on it. Its total weight is 6500 kg. Its maximum speed is 2205 kilometers per hour.

This fighter jet can be installed with anti-ship missiles. Equipped with laser-guided missiles, it can hit air-to-air, air-to-ground, and air-to-water. It can fly with arms and missiles equivalent to Sukhoi. It can reach an altitude of 52 thousand feet by flying at the speed of sound. Tejas can refuel in the air and be ready to fight again. This is much more robust than its counterpart China’s JF-17 and Korea’s fighter jets.

Delhi tops the list of fake universities in the UGC list, one of the fake universities even boasts of Arvind Kejriwal’s photo and signature on website

0

University Grants Commission (UGC), the regulatory body for higher education in the country, has released a list of fake Universities in India. The list contains the names of a total of 21 institutes from different states, out of them, maximum 8 institutes are from Delhi.

Following the release of this list, people have taunted Arvind Kejriwal that he has made Delhi number one in terms of fake universities. At the same time, opposition parties like the BJP have raised questions about the alleged education model of the AAP government.

In fact, the UGC has released a list of 21 fake universities across the country, which include universities in Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh apart from Delhi. UGC said that all these universities were being operated against the rules of the institution. Degrees from these universities will also not be recognized and they do not even have the right to award degrees under UGC rules. Uttar Pradesh is the second highest in terms of these fake universities after Delhi, at 4 such institutions.

All India Institute of Public & Physical Health Sciences (AIIPPHS) is one of such fake universities on the list from Delhi. When we opened the website of AIIPPHS University, we found a picture of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal there, along with a letter from him. The university has been termed as fake by the UGC. The letter, which appears on the fake university’s website, seems to be issued with the official signature of the Chief Minister of Delhi, and is dated December 18, 2016. There is a photograph of the Delhi Chief Minister as well along with the letter.

In the alleged letter from Arvind Kejriwal, he says, “I am happy to know that All India Institute of Public & Physical Health Sciences (AIIPPHS) is bringing out its souvenir. I am sure that the souvenir will provide ample opportunities to students to exhibit their writing skills and inspire them for their better future. I extend my best wishes for success of forthcoming publication.” The “fake” university has also claimed the recognition of the Delhi government on its website.

AIIPPHS has also uploaded a certificate on its website, which is from ‘Delhi State Government Paramedical Council’. It is written in this certificate that this university is being run from its office. The official address is stated to be near the BDO office of Alipore. It is also written in the certificate that this university has also met the education standards of the council. It was recognized on April 7, 2021, and was again extended for a year after the completion of a year.

In fact, such letters are frequently used by such institutions so that their credibility is built among the people. It also shows the failure of the bureaucracy, showing that the authorities do not investigate thoroughly before issuing such letters. It may also happen that the education mafia has access to government departments and they are allowed to do such arbitrary things.

We also have to note that having such a certificate does not at all mean that the university is valid in all respects and is not fake. As evident, even if the university is fake, they can come up with such certificates and letters.

How Dainik Bhaskar reached out to a Pakistani man who issued beheading threats to Gyanvapi case Hindu petitioner, only to whitewash him

On Friday, August 26, Harihar Pandey, the first Hindu petitioner in the Kashi Vishwanath temple-Gyanvapi mosque dispute case allegedly received a life threat from a Pakistani number. The caller threatened to kill him and his family. Besides, to intimidate him, the accused also sent the Hindu petitioner a morphed picture wherein Pandey’s head was severed. However, a day after Harihar Pandey lodged a complaint about the threat with the Laksa Police Station in Varanasi, Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar interviewed the Pakistani accused, only to whitewash his crime.

The report by the Hindi media house was published on August 27, 2022. The headline of the report itself tried to absolve the perpetrator of the crime. The report’s headline in Hindi can be roughly translated to, “Bhaskar Exclusive: Conversation with the boy who threatened the Gyanvapi petitioner: 22-year-old Pakistani said – called thinking to be a girl, did not threaten him.”

The report published by Dainik Bhaskar on August 27

The exclusive report published by Dainik Bhaskar justified the crime committed by the Pakistani youth by explaining how he agreed that it was a small mistake on his part. The report stated that the youth named Fahad refuted the allegations that he had issued death threats to Harihar Pandey and his family.

The report read that the 22-year-old Fahad had told the correspondent that he got Pandey’s number from Facebook. He said that the particular number was posted on Facebook with a picture of a girl and he had dialled him thinking the number to be that of a girl.

The accused was quoted by Dainik Bhaskar as saying, “I want to apologize to him, but he has blocked my number. I don’t even know them, what will I get by threatening them? I didn’t even send him any photo.”

“I had merely sent Harihar Pandey a Whatsapp message that read “salam”. The moment I heard his voice on the phone I disconnected the call. I have deleted the message and the call record,” the Pakistani accused reportedly told Dainik Bhaskar.

The report further said that Fahad told the correspondent over the phone that his only mistake was that he called on that number thinking it to of a girl. “The people of India have turned me into a traitor. The issues of temple mosques are older than the independence of India. What can I do in this?” Fahad was quoted by the media house as saying.

Notably, this threat was the second such that Harihar Pandey has received. Last year too, he received a life threat over the phone following which he was provided security. Harihar Pandey, Pandit Somnath Vyas and Ramrang Sharma filed the first petition in the case on behalf of Swayambhu Jyotirlinga Bhagwan Vishweshwar in a civil court in 1991. Pandey is now the only surviving petitioner among the three.

How media whitewashes crimes committed by Islamists against Hindus

Such incidents are becoming exceedingly common where intolerant Islamists are opening issuing death and beheading threats to Hindus, or for the matter of fact going on a killing spree for alleged blasphemy. The Indian media, however, instead of condemning such crimes, have often tried to whitewash the crimes by either its biased coverage or by providing platforms to such Islamists.

One such example of the Indian leftist media’s biased coverage was that of the heinous murder of the 27-year-old Hindu youth Kishan Bharwad on January 25.

OpIndia reported how a horrifying tragedy befell a 27-year-old Hindu man, Kishan Bharwad when Islamists murdered him over a social media post that they believed was against Islam. Kishan had reportedly shared a video that had an image of Prophet Muhammad. The Gujarat police arrested the two bike-borne assailants-Shabbir (25) and Imtiaz (27), who shot the Hindu youth.

From the very beginning, it was clear that the Hindu youth was shot dead as some Islamists took offence to his social media post that they deemed insulting. However, the moment news of the brutal killing of Kishan Bharwad surfaced, the usual ‘left-liberal’ media houses like The Indian Express, The Print, TOI as well as many vernacular media houses totally whitewashed the murder since clearly in this case too, the victim was a Hindu and the perpetrators belonged to their favourite ‘minority’ section of the society.

Earlier too, Opindia reported about the media’s ability to give a ‘Hindu spin’ to crimes committed by Muslims. Be it the Hauz Qazi incident or the menace of forced religious conversions, leftist media has always tried to whitewash crimes when the perpetrator has belonged to their favourite ‘minority’.

Make in India: Luggage maker Samsonite to expand its Nashik plant to make India its largest manufacturing base

Samsonite, the well-known global luggage manufacturer and retailer intends to expand its production capacity in India by establishing the largest manufacturing operation in Maharashtra’s Nashik district. The corporation has two operating units in Belgium and Hungary in Europe.

According to Jai Krishnan who is the CEO of Samsonite South Asia Pvt. Ltd in India, the company expects the Indian unit to meet the company’s global luggage requirements as it works on its ‘China Plus One’ strategy to deal with supply chain disruptions.

“The unit at Nashik will be Samsonite’s biggest manufacturing base in this year itself. In the last two years, we had invested Rs 150 crores to double production capacity to cater to local demand. Now, we are planning to invest another Rs 100 crores to further expand capacity at the same location,” said Krishnan.

He also added that the Indian unit would help the company to meet the long-term requirements of the company globally. According to the reports, the company would install 10 machines and eight more assembly lines which would be ready for production by January 2024.

“Now we are again going for a second expansion, we will start construction most probably in January or February (2023). We will complete that in one year. So by 2024, we are going to be ready for that when it booms further. In three years it will keep doubling, that’s my view’, the CEO was quoted.

Krishnan stated that demand for the company’s products was increasing in India due to pent-up demands for marriage and luxury travel. In comparison to the first half of the previous year, growth in the first six months of 2022 was 109 percent. “In 2022, we are expected to grow by 35 percent as compared to our best year ever. 2023 will be better than this year and this trend will continue for one and half years. The Indian market has rebounded faster than expected,” he added.

Meanwhile, the company introduced a new, durable, and lightweight luggage collection made from recycled material named Magnum Eco. Reports mention that around 483 yogurt cups and 14 plastic bottles worth of recycled plastic trash is used to create one large Magnum Eco luggage.

“The Magnum Eco range help reduce carbon footprint while ensuring high performance and durability. The launch represents a significant innovation advance for the luggage sector and advances Samsonite’s efforts to become the most environmentally conscious manufacturer of travel and lifestyle goods,” the company said.

“Sustainability is built into our 112-year heritage. While products like Magnum Eco, and our new range of hard-side cases made with recycled materials are recent innovations, we have always used resources respectfully. We have always been focused on making durable, long-lasting, high-quality products and promoting product repairability as an alternative to disposal and replacement”, Krishnan was quoted.

Samsonite, the world’s largest luggage company and the second largest in India, has stated that the group’s sales in the first half of 2022 increased by about 40 percent over the pre-Covid high of 2019, and by 110 percent over the same time the previous year. Samsonite, which has a global history of 112 years, opened its first facility in Nasik in 1997. It has 21 branches in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, as well as four regional offices.

Meghalaya: Bangladeshi nationals, Misba Uddin and Badrul Alom, arrested along the Indo-Bangladesh border for aiding illegal infiltration

0

According to media reports, two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested along the Indo-Bangladesh border in the East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. Misba Uddin (31) and Badrul Alom (30) were detained by a joint police-BSF team.

Operating on information that a group of Bangladeshi nationals had been observed in the jungle next to the unfenced international border at Pyrtakuna village on Friday, the squad detained the duo while others fled back to Bangladesh, said Superintendent of Police Jagpal Singh Dhanoa. He stated that both of the arrested people were from the village of Darponagar in Bangladesh.

“We have arrested two Bangladesh nationals who were actively aiding and abetting the illegal infiltration of Bangladesh nationals to India in the past couple of months through the Kuliang-Ratacherra axis,” said SP Dhanoa. Dhanoa stated that a case has been filed and that an investigation is underway.

Misba Uddin is also wanted in many other crimes in Meghalaya, according to Dhanoa. Meanwhile, the two Bangladeshi nationals have been charged under the Foreigners Act. A 443-kilometre international border separates Meghalaya from Bangladesh, 20% of which is unfenced because of the treacherous terrain.

Karnataka police apprehended seven illegal Bangladeshi nationals from the Ramanagara districts in July of this year. The Bangladeshi nationals were fraudulently residing in Karnataka and working at Link App Garments in Basvanapura village. Fake Indian IDs were unearthed with Bangladeshi nationals. The arrested illegal Bangladeshis were identified as Sohail Rana, Zulfiqar, Ujjal, Munazil, Mussa Shaik, Raheem, and Arif.

In October 2021, the Assam Police apprehended ten Bangladeshi nationals near the Assam-Tripura border at Churaibari, under the Bazaricherra police watch post. The Bangladeshis were apprehended on three consecutive occasions during routine vehicle inspections. The illegal immigrants admitted to working in several places in southern India and having previously travelled there from the Barak Valley.

‘Puri Shankaracharya didn’t allow Dalit MP to touch his feet’: Dalit lawmaker busts viral claim, demands strict action against fake news peddlers

A picture of BJP’s Dalit MP Dr Ramshankar Katheria paying his obeisance is seen bowing down to the ground from a distance to the Shankaracharya sitting on the sofa. Two such pictures are going viral in which it is being claimed that Shankaracharya did not allow Dalit BJP MP to touch his feet.

“This is the status of Dalits in Hinduism, whether he becomes an MP, MLA, DM or SP, he will remain untouchable. By touching the feet of a Brahmin Hindu Shankaracharya will become impure. Despite being an MP, he is sitting on the ground. Why did Babasaheb give reservations to Dalits in politics? He should have allowed them to be slaves,” a Facebook post that is widely being shared on social media said.

Source: Facebook

The picture, uploaded by Facebook user Ravindra Singh, instantly went viral on social media platforms alleging that Puri Shankaracharya discriminated against the BJP leader because he belonged to the Dalit community. Several users on social media shared the picture on the internet and accused the Hindu saint of practising untouchability against a Dalit leader.

BJP MP Dr Ramshankar Katheria busts fake news, calls claims of Puri Shankaracharya discriminating against him totally baseless and untrue

As the pictures went viral, Dr Ramshankar Katheria himself took to social media to address the viral claims being bandied around on the internet and issue a clarification on the matter. He rubbished the social media claims that Puri Shankaracharya discriminated against him and called them fake. The BJP leader also condemned the fake news and called for taking strict action against those responsible for spreading the misleading information.

Taking to Twitter, Katheria tweeted, “Shrimad Bhagwat Katha was organized at my place in Nagaria-Sarawa, Etawah, from 15th to 22nd May 2022, in which Dr Shyamsundar Parashar Ji of Vrindavan was the narrator. On 16th March 2022, I had gone to invite Puri Shankaracharya Ji Param Pujya Shri Nischalanand Saraswati Ji to attend the function.”

“During that time I was in his company for 1 hour and received his blessings. Whatever is being shown in the media, no such incident happened, it is completely untrue. I strongly condemn this and demand strict action against such people who are showing all this wrong,” the BJP MP added in a subsequent tweet along with a snapshot of the Facebook post that has gone viral on social media.

A similar falsehood was spread by AAP MP Sanjay Singh in August 2020, when he asserted that Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya was not invited to the Ayodhya Ram temple Bhumipujan because of being a Dalit, even though Deputy CM Maurya had already tweeted and told that he is present in Bhoomi Pujan. He had also released his pictures from the event.

Jharkhand: As Hemant Soren waits for his disqualification order, the CM and UPA MLAs leave Ranchi in buses, claim they are going for a picnic

Amid the political turmoil in Jharkhand following the recommendation by the EC to disqualify CM Hemant Soren, the CM and the MLAs of the ruling coalition left the capital Ranchi to an unknown destination today. The CM and the MLAs boarded buses along with luggage and reportedly could head towards Khunti, around 30 km from Ranchi. However, it is also speculated that they may move to a nearby ‘friendly’ state like West Bengal or Chhattisgarh. The move is aimed at preventing possible poaching of MLAs by the opposition after Soren is officially disqualified by the governor.

Reportedly, 44 MLAs of JMM, RJD and Congress boarded three Volvo buses and left for an unknown destination, guarded by security personnel in police vehicles. However, the government is playing the move and saying that the MLAs are just going for a picnic. Minister Alamgir Alam claimed the MLAs were going for a “picnic at Moments Resort in Latratu in neighbouring Khunti district”. Another minister Banna Gupta claimed that the MLAs were going to Latratu for refreshments and would return by evening. But media reports citing sources say that multiple locations in Chattisgarh and West Bengal had been identified to relocate the MLAs, and they would be kept in the same location.

The decision to shift the MLAs were taken after three rounds of meetings of the MLAs of the ruling alliance on Saturday 27th August 2022. The meeting was held at the Chief Minister House in Ranchi, and the UPA alliance MLAs had reached the meeting venue along with luggage, suggesting that the move to shift them out of Ranchi was already planned. Luxury buses were also already parked at the CM house, ready to shift the MLAs.

Congress MLA from Mandar Shilpi Neha Tirkey had said, “MLAs are asked to be prepared for every situation. So they brought the bag. If asked to stay in the CM House, they will stay there. There is no information yet. You have to do as told by the leadership.”

Earlier in the day, BJP MLA Nishikant Dubey had tweeted, “According to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha sources, some MLAs reached Chhattisgarh at 2 am. Most of the MLAs are reluctant to go and are waiting for the orders of senior JMM leader Basant Soren, some buses are parked in Ranchi waiting for MLAs.” Dubey also demanded mid-term polls in the state.

The notification to cancel chief minister Hemant Soren’s membership in the assembly can be sent to the Election Commis by Governor Ramesh Bais at any time based on the recommendation sent by the EC. After EC issues the notification cancelling Soren’s membership of the assembly after getting consent from the governor, the Governor can ask CM Hemant Soren to resign from the post of the chief minister. Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Ravindranath Mahato is likely to be apprised of the EC notification. In case Soren has asked to resign, his wife Kalpana Soren and father Shibu Soren are believed to be the frontrunners to replace him.

In view of the situation, the JMM has already got all the MLAs signed on the letter of support. These signatures have been made from the MLAs of both JMM and Congress parties. According to JMM sources, the letter of support of 42 MLAs has already been prepared.

Conspiracies to topple the Jharkhand government

On July 30, 2022, three Congress MLAs were arrested in Howrah with Rs 45 lakh in cash. Congress MLA Anoop Singh filed a written complaint against the three Congress MLAs in the police station and also said that the three MLAs had contacted him. Rs 10 crore and a ministerial post were offered to him to topple the Jharkhand government.

Mallikarjun Kharge says they would force Rahul Gandhi to become Congress chief again, a day after Ghulam Nabi Azad blamed him for party’s downfall

Congress senior leader and the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has said that the party would force Rahul Gandhi to return as Congress President as there is no one else in the party other than him who has a pan-India appeal. He added that Rahul Gandhi is needed for the unification of India.

The statement came a day after party veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, in his resignation letter addressed to the present party supremo Sonia Gandhi, blamed Rahul Gandhi for the party’s failure in elections and said that the Gandhi scion was the reason Congress lost its political space to the BJP.

Azad had catalogued the “childish behaviour, glaring immaturity” of Rahul Gandhi who he said has also demolished the “consultative mechanism within the party”.

In his letter, Azad had pulled up a ‘non-serious’ Rahul Gandhi for infamously tearing a copy of the ordinance, approved by the UPA Cabinet. The veteran Congress leader suggested that the decisions of the grand old party are now being made by the Personal assistants and security guards of Rahul Gandhi.

Only Rahul Gandhi has pan-India appeal: Kharge

While Azad squarely blamed Rahul Gandhi for the downfall of the Congress, Kharge could not stop singing accolades for the Gandhi scion. While speaking to the Press Trust of India on Friday, Kharge stated that anyone aspiring to lead the party should be well-known throughout the country and enjoy support from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, West Bengal to Gujarat, and he believes that the Gandhi scion is the only one in Congress who holds such wide acceptance.

“He should be a well-recognised, accepted man to the entire Congress party. So, nobody is there (in the party with such a stature),” Kharge opined.

Requesting Rahul Gandhi to “come and fight”, Kharge recounted how all senior party leaders “forced” Sonia Gandhi to join and work for the party.

“You tell me the alternative. Who is there? (in the party other than Rahul Gandhi)”, Kharge asked.

In response to claims that Rahul Gandhi is unwilling to take the reins, Kharge stated that he will be urged to do so “for the sake of the party, for the sake of the country, for fighting the RSS-BJP and to keep the country united”.

Further referring to the party’s upcoming “Bharat Jodo Yatra”, Kharge said that Rahul Gandhi is needed to “Jodo Bharat”.

“We will ask him, we will force him and request him (to return as Congress President). We stand behind him. We will try to pursue him”, Kharge added.

Condemning Ghulam Nabi Azad remarks’s against the Gandhi scion, the LoP in Rajya Sabha further added, “Attack on Rahul Gandhi is not right because you know all members of that family personally. Sonia Gandhi has always taken advice from you. You were a part of CWC meetings & Core Committee meetings.”

Notably, the Congress Working Committee, the party’s top decision-making body, will convene a virtual meeting on Sunday to finalise the dates for the Congress president’s election. The CWC meeting will be presided over by Sonia Gandhi. Several politicians have publicly urged Rahul Gandhi to return to the helm of the party. However, according to some party sources, Rahul Gandhi is sticking to his position that he will not be Congress chief.

It may be recalled that the Congress was due to elect a full-fledged party president by June 2021 end. However, the CWC in its meeting held on May 10, 2021, had deferred the election citing the second wave of COVID-19. The party has since then not fixed a timeline for the next election.

Power seesaw between Congress and its president

Rahul Gandhi was the party president during the 2019 general elections but he had decided to ‘step down’ taking ‘moral responsibility’ of the party’s defeat as well as his own humiliating defeat in the Nehru-Gandhi family bastion, Amethi to BJP’s Smriti Irani. Rahul Gandhi contested from two seats and managed to win the Wayanad seat.

The post of Congress president remained vacant since party leader Rahul Gandhi resigned after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Since then, Sonia Gandhi is leading the party as interim president.

She was also the party president for nearly twenty years before handing over the business to her son Rahul Gandhi.

Interestingly, in 2021, during a key meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), Sonia Gandhi had attempted to put herself forth as the only viable contender for the position. In her opening remarks at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Sonia Gandhi said: “I am, if you will allow me to say so, a full-time and hands-on Congress President.” Sonia Gandhi added that in the last two years since she has taken up the role of the interim president she has never let any issue of public importance or concern go unaddressed.

In the meantime, Rahul Gandhi has also said that he will consider becoming the Congress party president again.

Chennai: Drunk man makes hoax bomb threat, Indigo’s Dubai-bound flight carrying 180 passengers delayed, arrested

0

On Saturday, the Chennai Police arrested a man who made a fake call to the city police station to inform us that there was a bomb planted in the Indigo flight flying to Dubai. The man was in an inebriated state when he made the hoax bomb threat.

According to the reports, the incident is said to have happened on Saturday morning when the Indigo flight was scheduled to depart at 7:20 am. The city resident who called the police wanted to prevent two of his family members who were travelling to Dubai.

Following the threat call, the security agencies at the airport were alerted and conducted a severe check-in and around the flight to ascertain if any explosive items were planted in the flight. However, no such explosive items were found on the aircraft, with security officials and others heaving a sigh of relief.

There were around 180 passengers on the flight who have been provided accommodation in the city. The airport authorities confirmed the incident and reported that the flight will be proceeding toward its destination later in the day.

Meanwhile, the Chennai police officials tried to trace the caller who wanted to stop his relatives from flying to Dubai. He was promptly picked up by the police and was interrogated. He confessed that the call that he made was fake and that he wanted his family members to stop leaving Chennai.

A similar incident was reported from Karnataka’s Bengaluru district on August 9 when a threat note was found in the airplane’s lavatory. The note read, “Land na karna, is flight mein bomb hai (Don’t land, this flight has a bomb)”. Later the threat was declared a hoax after a bomb squad, canine squad, and personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) probed and gave the clearance.

In the current case, the Police have arrested the individual and are investigating the case further. The flight that has been delayed due to the incident will be proceeding towards its destination later in the day.
