Nykaa’s Falguni Nayar is now five times richer than Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma with personal assets worth USD 4.9 billion

Days after the Reserve Bank of India restricted Paytm to add new customers on board while the company was ordered to conduct a comprehensive audit of its IT systems, Paytm shares tanked more than 24% after the company underwent negative press. Amidst this, there were news reports of its CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma no longer being a billionaire after his personal net worth fell decisively.

It has now been learnt that Nykaa’s founder Falguni Nayar whose personal wealth has soared multifold over the years, stands with USD 4.9 Billion personal net worth, as reported by Hurun’s Global Rich List for 2022. If that has to be calculated with the Paytm founder’s net worth, it turns out five times more with Sharma standing at USD 999 Million after the fall. While Paytm shares continued to fall after its market listing in November 2021, it resulted in the downfall of Sharma’s personal wealth from USD 2.35 Billion at the peak in November to now close to one billion. Sharma has been losing around Rs 88 crore daily since Paytm’s listing.

Falguni Nayar Shines in the day while standing at 556th spot in Forbes’ real-time billionaire’s list. She became the first self-made female billionaire in India starting her venture Nykaa, a beauty products brand at the age of 50. The company was listed as a unicorn last year with new funding of Rs 100 crore from an existing investor.

On Thursday, Paytm share price has closed at 594.25, with a fall of 6.28%. In contrast, the share price of FSN E-Commerce Ventures which owns Nykaa stands at Rs 1,553 with an increase of 3.8%. The 2022 Hurun Global Rich List added a record 490 new faces with 51 billionaires from India. The country stands at the third position in the number of billionaires in the list, comfortably ahead of the UK which stands at the fourth position.

‘Govt takes such actions very seriously’, MEA slams OIC for inviting Hurriyat Conference to its foreign ministerial meet in Pakistan

On Thursday, March 17, India came down hard on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for encouraging nations and organizations indulging in terrorism and anti-India activities. At a media briefing, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi slammed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for inviting the chairman of the Kashmiri separatist organisation, All Parties Hurriyat Conference, to attend its foreign ministerial meeting in Islamabad scheduled to be held on March 22 and 23.

It may be recalled that the Modi govt is mulling banning All Parties Hurriyat Conference as an “unlawful organisation” under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for their leaders’ involvement in terror financing in Jammu and Kashmir.

Bagchi while addressing the media said that India takes such actions, which are aimed at undermining the country’s unity and violating its sovereignty and territorial integrity, very seriously. “Govt takes seriously the actions motive of which is to destroy India’s unity & sovereignty. Hope OIC won’t encourage nations&orgs indulging in terrorism & anti-India activities. Unfortunate that it’s driven by single agenda: MEA on OIC inviting Hurriyat at Foreign Ministers’ meet,” ANI Tweeted.

It is regrettable that the OIC continues to be guided by a single member’s political agenda rather than focusing on important development activities, Bagchi said, referring to Pakistan indirectly.

“We have repeatedly called upon the OIC to refrain from allowing vested interests to exploit the platform for comments on India’s internal affairs,” he said.

Reports suggest that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has invited All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, to attend the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) being held on 22-23 March 2022 in Islamabad.

The OIC is a 57-member grouping of Muslim majority nations, including Pakistan. The body has usually been supportive of Pakistan and often sided with the terror state in its disputes with India. In September, following the abrogation of Article 370, the OIC had asked India to “rescind” its actions in Kashmir and abide by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Notably, last year in November it was reported how the Modi government may soon ban all factions of the Kashmiri separatist organisation Hurriyat Conference as an “unlawful organisation” under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for their leaders’ involvement in terror financing in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir government along with NIA had submitted input to the Home Ministry about the Hurriyat Conference financing terror in the state. The Home Minister had then sought additional information from NIA and the state govt. Sources had then claimed that the additional data that was sought had been submitted to the MHA and therefore, the decision to ban the factions may come soon.

Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee disallows shooting of films in temple premise, says will examine the script, purpose of filming first

0

On Wednesday, the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple committee announced that the shooting of films or songs will not be allowed in the temple premises looked after by the Committee. The production house or the film institutions will have to submit the purpose of the film in writing and the committee will give permission only after examining the purpose.

According to the reports, the written submission by the production houses will be examined by competent authorities of the temple committee, who will examine the movie script and the purpose of filming. This is probably after the locals in the area recently objected to a shooting of a song in the Narsingh temple complex of Joshimath.

Chairman of the Badarinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, Ajendra Ajay confirmed that the committee would sanction the permission only if the script and purpose of the shooting is authentic. “Many temples are looked after by the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee and we have found that several films and songs are shot in these temple premises without permission. Hereinafter, shooting will be allowed only after proper examination”, he said.

He added that he had already issued orders aligned to the decision to the Chief Executive Officer of the committee. Meanwhile, Ajay has written to the District Magistrate Rudraprayag to stop the unwanted movement in winters despite the closure of the doors of the third Kedar Tungnath among the Panch Kedar. He informed that local people had objected against the tourists who visit the Tungnath temple complex and spread plastic garbage inside the premises during winters. “Religious sentiments of the people are hurt”, the letter stated.

He further has asked the authorities to make arrangements in the Tungnath area in winter, so that the movement of tourists is not affected and the religious sentiments of the people are also not hurt.

Pakistan does a Congress as ‘resort politics’ and ‘horse trading’ reaches the neighbouring country: Read full details

It seems that the ‘resort’ politics is not just limited to Indian politics alone. It has reached Pakistan, where the current political turmoil has pushed both the ruling and the opposition lawmakers to hide inside resorts and guest houses as both sides fear intense poaching by their political rivals.

Amidst the vote of confidence motion scheduled against the Imran Khan-led Pakistan government, the opposition parties in Pakistan have alleged that the government is using its machinery to carry out raids in an effort to poach the opposition and rebel lawmakers.

On Thursday, the opposition party, Pakistan Peoples Party, accused the government of planning to attack the Sindh House in Islamabad after the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) claimed that the opposition parties were hiding some of its lawmakers inside the building.

The PPP members had issued a joint statement on Thursday alleging that Imran Khan’s government is hell-bent on carrying out terrorism and planning to attack Sindh House. They had claimed the PTI’s Tiger Force was planning the “assault” them. The PPP lawmakers also added that the government would be responsible for damaging Sindh House’s facilities.

The government had earlier claimed the opposition had detained some ruling party lawmakers at Sindh House ahead of the vote on the no-confidence resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan. Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi had claimed that around at least 12 PTI lawmakers were missing.

On Wednesday, Pakistan PM Imran Khan had alleged that opposition party leaders were sitting in Sindh House with “heaps of money” to purchase ruling lawmakers and had asked the election commission to take action against the alleged horse-trading.

“The lives of MNAs, including women members, are not safe as the PTI-led government is hell-bent on terrorism, therefore, we [MNAs] had requested the Sindh government to provide the Sindh police security,” the statement said.

The voting on a no-confidence motion against the Imran Khan government will take place between March 26-30. The Speaker of the National Assembly is expected to call the session on March 22.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan threatened the opposition parties that he would turn into to become a suicide bomber and blow up the entire opposition.

In a video that has gone viral on the internet, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan was heard saying that even though suicide bombing is forbidden in Islam, he would turn into one and blow up the entire opposition for attempting to bring down Imran Khan-led Pakistan government.

People in Dehradun had stopped shooting of The Kashmir Files hearing anti-India slogans in a scene, director Vivek Agnihotri confirms

An incident that had occurred while shooting the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ has now come into the discussions on social media. According to the posts by Twitter users, actor Chinmay Mandlekar who has played the role of an Islamic terrorist in the film was opposed by the people of Dehradun when he was shouting anti-India slogans for shooting a scene from the film in the city. The people made the whole crew to stop the shooting due to the slogans. The shooting was restored only after the people were assured that this is not an anti-India film.

Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has confirmed this hearsay to be true by sharing an image regarding this incident from his Twitter handle. He has written, “True story. The Kashmir files.” Attached with this caption is an image from the Instagram handle called Hindu Secrets. In this image, it is written that “Remember the starting scene of The Kashmir Files where Farooq Ahmed Bitta was shouting anti-Indian alogans! Shooting of that scene was done in Dehradun. Role of Bitta was done by Chinmay Mandlekar and the role of terrorists who were standing near him were the local people of Dehradun.”

The image further reads, “Locals happily participated in shooting scene but they soon forced the film makers to stop the shooting when they heard the anti-Indian slogans in the script! Filmmakers had to convince local people that this movie is not anti-Indian. Also Chinmay Mandlekar showed his previous Marathi movies to local people in which he played the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj!”

It is mentioned in the image that, “Finally locals allowed them to do shooting with the strict condition that filmmakers and especially Chinmay Mandlekar should shout the slogan Bharat Mata ki Jai once the shooting scene is over!”

Chinmay Madlekar is a well-known Marathi actor, screen-writer and director. He is an NSD graduate and has acted in many films and plays. He is critically acclaimed for playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in films Farzand, Fatte Shikst and Pawankhind. All the three films are from the eight-film series by director Digpal Lanjekar based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

‘The Kashmir Files’, directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, has been declared tax-free by many state governments like Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Bihar and Uttarakhand. The film depicts the genocide of the Kashmiri Hindus by Islamic terrorists that happened in the 1990s and their subsequent exodus. The film is released on 11th March 2022 and within less than a week it has become a massive hit on the box office.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) chief also confirmed that since the repeal of Article 370 in 2019, there have been almost no incidents of stone-pelting in the valley. “It is not as if the situation is out of hand. He also claimed that the number of foreign terrorists infiltrating the country and carrying out attacks has decreased. Applauding the bravery and courage of his personnel, the CRPF DG further said that from March 1, 2021, to March 16, 2022, the CRPF neutralised 175 terrorists and apprehended 183 others in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the same time period, 415 weapons, 13,000 rounds of ammunition, 1400 kg of explosives, 225 grenades, 115 bombs, 615 IEDs, 2400 detonators, and 5336 gelatin sticks worth Rs 3.27 crore, as well as 25,775 kg of narcotic substances were seized, he stated.

Pakistan: ‘Unidentified object’ with tail of smoke falls from sky in Jamshoro, speculated to be failed missile test in response to the Brahmos accident

Days after India accidentally fired a Brahmos missile into Pakistan, an unidentified flying object was seen falling from the sky in Jamshoro in Sindh province today. After the object fell from the sky, it is being speculated it was a missile test might have failed.

A panic situation was created when people living in Aliabad of Jamshoro in the Sindh state of Pakistan saw an unidentified flying object falling from the sky. A video of the same immediately appeared on social media. It shows the object with a tail of white smoke flying in the sky and then falling straight to the ground.

Pakistani news channel ARY News reported that an unknown object fell from the sky, and the police are probing the same. They said that there was no sound of any explosion.

However, it is being speculaed that Pakistan might have test-fired a missile in response to a previous missile mistakenly fired from India. Pakistani news agency the Conflict News Pakistan speculated it to be such a test-fire which failed. They tweeted, “Jamshoro, Pakistan tested a missile in response of pervious Indian Brahmos missile. Pakistani missile failed to reach its target & fell down nearby.”

It is notable that a missile testing range is located in the area near Jamshoro, and possibly Pakistan tested an anti-aircraft weapon today, but the rocket failed and the missile fell to the ground.

In the meanwhile, a Pakistani defence analyst account called AEROSINT Division PSF has posted from its Twitter handle that this unidentified flying object seen in Sindh is nothing but Pakistani forces testing their fire range. They posted, “Aliabad, Jamshoro, Sindh. With regards to the video being published on social media, the own forces testing range near the vicinity of this town is active. No reason to create panic.”

They shared in the next tweet that the prior intimation announcing no fly zone in the test area was already issued. They said that “A NOTAM was already issued”, and attached the NOTAM issued to airlines, along a map showing the probable path followed by the projectile. In the NOTAM, the details of the testing schedules are specified in which the dates 17th and 18th March are mentioned.

Though there have been no reports of any damages, the people living in Jamshoro would certainly be worried for a while to see this unidentified flying object appear all of a sudden in the skies and fall down.

Earlier an Indian missile was misfired on Pakistan during its regular maintenance activities. India had issued a statement acknowledging that on 9 March 2022, in the course of routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile that unfortunately landed in an area of Pakistan. Fortunately, there has been no loss of life due to the accident. On Thursday, March 10, the Pakistani Army claimed that a ‘missile’ from India was launched from Hisar, violated the Pakistani airspace, and fell in Mian Channu city in Khanewal district of the Punjab province of Pakistan.

Retired IPS officer says the truth of brutalities in Kashmir is scarier than what The Kashmir Files has managed to show

Retired Indian Police Service officer and Author Dr NC Asthana has penned a heartfelt note after watching The Kashmir Files. He took to Twitter to affirm that the gruesome violence that haunted Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s is scarier than what has been showcased in the film. He has also listed out the massacres of Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir which happened years after the genocide of the Pundits broke out, and have been washed away in history.

He wrote on Twitter, “Those who have any problem with the censor-cleared Kashmir Files, are free to boycott it or make another film to refute it,” Fine. He narrated his experience in the valley when he was posted as an officer in the region. “I have worked in Kashmir in very sensitive and responsible positions since the early 1990s-I know the truth is scarier than what is shown,” he added. He lamented how being bound by the Official Secrets Act, he and many of his colleagues who happened to be Kashmiri Pundits are not in a position to narrate the truth behind the genocide. The Secrets Act restricts Government officials from sharing information related to security, defence, etc. which could hamper national interests.

“That is the tragedy of governance. The public can have only an artistic version, not an official one,” he added. According to him, The Kashmir Militancy has had three dimensions – The Military – which is reflected in attacks on security forces and the police. The second is Insurrectional – the one that intends to organize bandhs, strikes, etc. The Communal dimension covers targeted attacks on civilians and people from other communities, especially Non-Muslims.

The Islamic Militancy in Kashmir is a continuous project. The genocide of Hindus in 1990 is clearly not an isolated event. As recent as in October 2021, A principal and school teacher at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Srinagar were shot dead after Muslim and Non-Muslim teachers were segregated. When 68-year old Makhan Lal Bindroo was working alone in his pharmacy in Srinagar, he was assassinated by Islamic terrorists alongside two other civilians.

Asthana listed out massacres after the Kashmiri Hindu Genocide of 1990 in which innocent Hindus were made victims of Islamic violence in the J&K region.

Wandhama massacre of 1998

The winter of 1998 in Wandhama, a town near Ganderbal of J&K, saw brutal killings of 25 Hindus including four children and nine women. Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen took the responsibility for the act. According to a testimony, the gunmen dressed as Indian Army soldiers visited Hindu households to have tea and subsequently gunned them with Kalashnikov rifles. On the next day, when Kashmiri Hindus in Delhi stormed the gates of The National Human Rights Commission, at least eleven were hit by water cannons used by the Police.

Massacre of Amarnath pilgrims in 2000

The year 2000 saw killing of 89-105 devotees in Amarnath during the pilgrimage yatra on August 1-2. Including this, nearly 62 people were brazenly injured in the five different attacks coordinated by separatist militants in Anantnag and Doda districts. Later, on July 20, 2001, when the Amarnath Yatra had commenced in the month of Shravan, 13 people were killed and 15 people were injured at a pilgrim camp based near Sheshnag lake.

Attacks on Raghunath temple in Jammu

The ancient Raghunath temple in Jammu witnessed two fidayeen attacks in the months of March and November in 2002. On March 20, 2002, two suicide bombers attacked the temple. 11 people were killed including 3 security personnel who were shot dead at the entrance and 20 were injured. The temple was attacked for the second time in the same year on November 24 when two suicide bombers entered the temple hurling hand-grenades at devotees. 14 Hindu devotees were killed in the attack with over 45 injured.

Qasimnagar massacre of Hindus, 2003

In Qasim Nagar, at the outskirts of Jammu city, 29 Hindu labourers were killed by Islamic terrorists disguised as Hindu saints. The poor labourers who were killed by AK-47 guns included two blind beggars, 13 women and one child who were listening to an India-Pakistan match commentary on a radio set.

Nandimarg Massacre, 2003

The massacre saw the killing of 24 Kashmiri Hindus in the Pulwama district by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. The attack took place during midnight when terrorists came dressed in Indian military uniforms. Few Hindus who continued to reside in the region left the area after the massacre.

Doda Massacre, 2006

The Doda massacre saw the killing of 22 unarmed Hindus. mostly shepherds or their families who were lined up and gunned down by terrorists in Thawa village in Doda district on the night of 30 April 2006. On the same day, 35 Hindu shepherds were kidnapped and killed by terrorists in the neighbouring Lalon Gala village in Udhampur district.

The Kashmir Files continues to rule the Box Office on Day-6, surpasses earnings of Bollywood A-list movies

Vivek Agnihotri’s gut-wrenching movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ is steadily inching closer to becoming one of the biggest blockbuster movies of recent times. Despite the presence of big releases such as Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi in theatres, the Anupam Kher-Mithun Chakraborty starrer continues to outperform, eating into their share of the market.

According to film analyst and critic Taran Adarsh, the critically acclaimed film has broken records held by previous Bollywood blockbusters pre- and post-pandemic. On March 17, Thursday, the film analyst took to Twitter to compare The Kashmir Files’ performance on Day 6 to that of other post and pre Covid releases.

As per the data shared by Taran Adarsh, The Kashmir Files has surpassed the Akshay Kumar starrer Sooryavanshi, which had collected Rs 9.55 cr, to become the highest first Wednesday grosser among post-pandemic releases, with a staggering Rs 19.05 cr.

Aside from Sooryavanshi, The Kashmir Files outperformed other releases such as Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, which earned Rs 6.21 crore, and Ranveer Singh’s 83, which earned Rs 5.67 crore.

Interestingly, Gangubai Kathiawadi, one of the biggest recent Bollywood A-list releases, took Rs 57 crore in its first five days of sales last month. Whereas, Vivek Agnihotri’s small budget movie, The Kashmir Files’ box office collections has passed the Rs 79 crore mark and counting. Since opening on Friday the Kashmir Files has gone from being shown on 400 screens nationwide to more than 3,000 screens now.

Meanwhile, comparing The Kashmir Files Day-6 box office collection to that with previous Bollywood blockbusters of pre-pandemic times, it has outperformed Ajay Devgn starter Tanaji, which earned Rs 16.72 crores and Ranveer Singh’s sports drama ’83’ that had made Rs 7.73 crore by the 6th day.

The Kashmir Files is based on true stories about Kashmiri Pandits. It transports viewers back to 1989, when conflict erupted in Kashmir as a result of rising Islamic Jihad, forcing the vast majority of Hindus to flee the valley. Between February and March 1990, approximately 100,000 of the valley’s total 140,000 Kashmiri Pandit inhabitants migrated, according to estimates. In the years that followed, more of them fled, until only about 3,000 families remained in the valley by 2011. The unspeakable brutality and trauma the Kashmiri Hindus had to face during that time is what Vivek Agnihotri has tried to bring to the fore through his film, which is steadily on its way to becoming the biggest blockbuster movie.

Robert Vadra’s brother in law says his statements were misconstrued, claims that sex with industrialist’s wife while he watched was part of ‘reality gig’

Days after Sonia Gandhi’s son in law Robert Vadra’s brother in law Tehseen Poonawalla had confessed to having a sexual encounter with the wife of a top industrialist in the country, the Congress party sympathiser has taken a U-turn to claim that his statement was misconstrued, and it was nothing but a part of the “reality show gig”.

Speaking to news agency IANS, Tehseen claimed that the secret is age-old and holds no relevance in today’s day. He added that the incident was 20 years back, and it was only a reality show gig for me.

“I sportingly revealed a secret because it was a fun part of the format of the reality show, and in the end, it’s a game,” he added.

He made the revelation following his ouster from the reality TV show ‘Lock Upp’ on Saturday.

In the ‘Lock Upp’ episode streamed on Saturday, March 12, Tehseen had revealed that India’s topmost industrialist once asked him to have sex with his wife while he watched. Without naming the businessman, Tehseen Poonawallah had claimed that the wealthy individual booked his nightclub for two nights and asked Tehseen to sleep with his wife in industrialist’s own presence.

As per the show rules, Tehseen Poonawalla was given a chance to save one of the contestants from being eliminated by revealing a personal secret. It was then that Robert Vadra’s brother in law decided to bite the bullet for his trans friend Saisha Shinde (formerly known as Swapnil).

He remarked, “I was given an offer by a top industrialist of India to sleep with his wife. And for that, he booked my entire nightclub for the weekends. His condition was that he wanted to see me having sex with his wife.”

He also claimed that the sexual encounter with the industrialist’s wife took place prior to his marriage to jewellery curator Monicka Vadera. Monicka Vadera is a cousin of Robert Vadra, son in law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The Congress loyalist said that he confessed about the same to his now-wife while they were dating.

Tehseen had added, “Saisha is a friend, and I felt that my secret was very small in front of her story that she wants to tell the world as a transgender, which is why I did not think twice about revealing any of my secrets and used the opportunity for her benefit.”

On being asked by show host Kangana Ranaut about his sexual encounter, Poonawalla claimed, “I absolutely enjoyed it. The industrialist was at a distance. He was only watching. My only condition was he would not touch or intervene. It wasn’t a threesome. He had only watched from a distance.”

“He had certain fantasies which his wife and I played out for him. I don’t mind even sharing that because there’s nothing wrong. He wanted me to treat his wife like my property and he wanted to watch and enjoy the experience. I didn’t care about it,” Tehseen Poonawalla justified his act and said that he did not regret it. You can watch the full clip here (at around the 1-hour mark).

The reality show ‘Lock Upp’ has 16 contestants, who are kept in pairs in different make-shift jails for a period of 72 days. During that time, contestants are seen fighting amongst themselves and striving to eliminate the other. “The show is very intense and dramatic, with contestants getting challenging tasks to survive in the lockup,” reads the synopsis of the show.
