BrahMos missile is not to attack others but to ensure no country has the audacity to cast an evil eye on India: Rajnath Singh

0

Defence Minister of India Rajnath Singh while addressing the public gathered in Lucknow on Sunday stated that India wanted to manufacture the BrahMos missiles not for attacking any country but to prevent the enemy forces from casting an evil eye on the safety and security of the country.

Rajnath Singh confirmed that the manufacture of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles was to protect India from external threats. The Defence Minister laid the foundation of a BrahMos missile manufacturing unit in Lucknow and stated that the BrahMos project was the proof of the defence cooperation existing between India and Russia.

Singh said, “The BrahMos missile and other weapons and defence equipment we are manufacturing are not to attack any other country. It has never been the character of India to attack any other country or grab even an inch of land of any country,” adding, “We want to manufacture BrahMos on Indian soil so that no country has the audacity to cast an evil eye on India,”

Rajnath Singh further mentioned the acts of terrorism committed by Pakistan against the nation. He said, “There is a neighbouring country. It got separated from India sometime back. I don’t know why its intentions vis-a-vis India are always bad. It committed acts of terrorism in Uri and Pulwama,”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the event and announced the acquisition of 200 acres of land by the government for the project.

Notably, BrahMos is an Indo-Russian joint project that formed out of the association between the DRDO and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya resulting in the formation of the multinational defence corporation known as the Brahmos Aerospace. Brahmos missile got its name from the names of two rivers, that is the Brahmaputra in India and the Moskva from Russia.

Recently, India successfully conducted the test-fire of the air version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which marked a ‘major milestone’ in BrahMos development.

Punjab & Haryana High Court allows minor Muslim girl to marry Hindu man as per Personal Law Board even though she married as per Hindu rituals

0

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the police to provide protection to a 17-year-old Muslim girl who had married a Hindu boy against the wishes of her family and relatives. The court, in its order, noted that being a Muslim girl, she was at liberty to marry anyone of her choice once she attained puberty, implying that minimum age law for marriage does not apply to Muslims in the country. The court further added that the guardian had no right to interfere.

The 17 year old Muslim girl had married a 33 year old Hindu man at a Hindu temple as reported by Live Law. However, she has sought protection under the Muslim Personal Law Board. In case of inter-religious marriages, if a person does not convert to the religion of the spouse, the same is registered under the Special Marriage Act. In which case, Muslim Law Board rules will not be applicable. Similarly, if the Muslim girl married as per Hindu rituals in Hindu temple to a Hindu man and if she had reverted to Hinduism, then the same shall be governed under the Hindu Marriage Act, in which case, too, Muslim personal law would not be applicable.

Justice Harnaresh Singh Gill said, “The law is clear that the marriage of a Muslim girl is governed by the Muslim Personal Law. As per Article 195 from the book ‘Principles of Mohammedan Law by Sir Dinshah Fardunji Mulla’, Petitioner No.1 (girl), being 17 years of age, is competent to enter into a contract of marriage with a person of her choice. Petitioner No. 2 (her partner) is stated to be about 33 years old. Thus, Petitioner No. 1 is of marriageable age as envisaged by Muslim Personal Law.”

He further observed, “The court cannot shut its eyes to the fact that the apprehension of the petitioners needs to be addressed. Merely because the petitioners have got married against the wishes of their family members, they cannot possibly be deprived of the fundamental rights as envisaged in the Constitution.”

The couple had approached the court to get protection

The petition was filed by one Nargis, who is 17-year-old and her 33-year-old Hindu Husband, in which they sought police protection as the family of the girl were not happy with the marriage.

The advocate representing the petitioner told the court that under the Muslim law, when a girl attains puberty, she is considered to be a major. Thus, keeping that presumption in mind, a person who belongs to Islam attains majority at the age of 15 years. The advocate further added that when a Muslim girl or a Muslim boy attains puberty, they have the right to marry the person of their choice and the guardian has no right to interfere in the matter.

He quoted Article 195 of the book ‘Principles of Mohammedan Law by Sir Dinshah Fardunji Mulla’ in which it was noted that “every Mahomedan of sound mind, who has attained puberty, may enter into a contract of marriage.”

Bill introduced to increase the marriageable age of girls irrespective of religion

It is noteworthy that recently Smriti Irani, Union Minister, Women and Child Development, introduced the Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill 2021. The bill sought to increase the marriageable age of girls to 21, equal to that of boys. Furthermore, while introducing the bill, the minister added that it would be applicable to every girl irrespective of religion.

Saregama to change lyrics and name of Sunny Leone starrer ‘Madhuban’ following outrage for hurting Hindu sentiments

Music company Saregama has announced that they will change the lyrics and name of its recently released music video Madhuban after a widespread protest against it. Hindu groups and social media users have been demanding a ban on the song, alleging that Sunny Leone’s sensual dance moves on the song on Krishna and Radhe hurts the sentiments of Hindus.

In a statement issued on Twitter today, Saregama said that they are changing the lyrics and name of the song due to the feedback the song has received. The statement said, “In light of the recent feedback & respecting the sentiments of our fellow countrymen, we will be changing the lyrics & the name of the song Madhuban”.

Saregama also informed that “The new song will replace the old one across all platforms over the next 3 days.”

The decision by the company was taken after Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra issued a warning to remove the song within three days. He had said that if Sunny Leone and music directors Shaarib and Toshi don’t withdraw the song within three days, they will face action and FIR will be registered against them.

“Some vidharmis are constantly hurting Hindu sentiments. Radha is our goddess. We worship her and have different temples for her. Can Shaarib compose such a song on his own religion? They are hurting Hindu sentiments. I am warning Sunny Leone ji, Shaarib and Toshi ji to understand. If they don’t remove the song after apologising in three days, then we will take action against them,” he had said.

The song sung by Kanika Kapoor and Arindam Chakraborty and starring actress Sunny Leone was released on YouTube on 22 December by the Music giant. The lyrics of the song is based on the song ‘Madhuban mein Radhika naache’ by Mohammad Rafi in the 1960 movie Kohinoor, and people were unhappy over the dance moves used in a song on love of Krishna and Radhe. Netizens had alleged that the song is against Hindu devi Radhe Ma, and mocks the Hindu religion.

The social media users had slammed the makers of the song for not seeing the mismatch between the dance and the lyrics of the song. After the song received lots of negative comments on YouTube, the comment section for the sone on YouTube was disabled.

After online protests, priests in Mathura in Uttar Pradesh had also come out demanding that Sunny Leone’s latest video album be banned. The priests had threatened to move court if the government does not take action against the actress and the music video.

Condemning the lyrics, the theme and the seductive moves of Sunny Leone on a song depicting Hindu goddess Radha, Akhil Bhartiya Tirth Purohit Mahasabha’s national president Mahesh Pathak had said that Sunny Leone has maligned the prestige of Brijbhumi by presenting the song in a “derogatory manner”.

‘Priyanka Gandhi told me that women who wear jeans, carry phones are not influenced by PM Modi’: Digvijaya Singh

On Sunday (December 26), veteran Congress leader Digvijaya Singh courted controversy after he claimed that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra told him that women who keep mobile phones and wear jeans do not support Prime Minister Modi. He made the contentious remarks in the presence of other Congress leaders at the Narmada Mandir Bhawan in Tulsi Nagar area of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

Digvijaya Singh said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had told him that only older among aged 40-50 years and above are influenced by PM Modi, and the women who wear jeans and use mobile phones are not influenced by the PM. Therefore, Congress should work on approaching these younger women, she had advised him.

While speaking to the Jan Jagran training workers, Singh said, “Priyanka Gandhi told me a remarkable thing that I did not think about. She said that women between the age group of 40-50 are somewhat under the influence of Modi. But the girls who wear jeans, carry mobile phones are not at all awed by him.”

Digvijaya Singh further added that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra told him, “We need to discuss this issue. Because these girls are the ones who are on social media. Try establishing a connection with them. I will suggest Mahina Congress to engage the youth so that we can take them along us.”

During the same event, he had peddled the lie that Veer Savarkar advocated Hindus to consume beef. “Veer Savarkar, in his book, said that Hinduism has nothing to do with Hindutva. He never considered cow as ‘maata’ and had no problem in consuming beef,” he had alleged. Singh was then slammed by BJP leader Rameshwar Sharma for defaming and conspiring against the Hindu community.

PM Narendra Modi lauds the Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan of Arunachal Pradesh to end hunting of wildlife

It turned out to be a special day for Mama Natung, the minister of Forest and Environment of Arunachal Pradesh, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised his initiative ‘Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan’ which is spinning a new hope of wildlife conservation.

Modi in his address to the nation in the 84th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on December 26, praised the people of Arunachal Pradesh for surrendering their air guns to save wildlife.

Narendra Modi said that Arunachal Pradesh has more than 500 species of birds. This includes some indigenous species which aren’t found anywhere else in the world. But now the number of birds in the forests of Arunachal Pradesh declined due to hunting.

Now to rectify the situation, an ‘air gun surrender campaign’ has been launched and people of all communities of Arunachal Pradesh have accepted it with open heart and they are participating in it.

‘Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan’ was launched in March this year in Arunachal Pradesh and according to PM Modi, so far 1600 air guns have been surrendered.

The initiative getting praise and a special mention by PM Modi left the Arunachal Pradesh minister excited.

Mama Natung thanked PM for praising the initiative and said, “acknowledging our wildlife conservation effort; Air gun Surrender Abhiyan in his Mann Ki Baat. It’s a big moral boost for us and could only be possible under our visionary chief minister Pema Khanduri.”

Arunachal Pradesh CM Prema Khandu said that PM encouraged people for their conservation effort by mentioning the same in his Mann ki Baat address.

In Arunachal Pradesh where hunting is a community practice, Mama Natung launched the campaign to win away people from hunting as the wildlife in the state was under threat. Arunachal Pradesh covers an area of 83,743 sq km, out of which 80 percent area is covered with forests where there are some 500 species of birds and animals. Ahead of the launching of the programme on March 17, the local administration, forest department, NGOs and community-based organizations launched an awareness drive.

When the programme was launched at Lumdung village in East Kameng district, as many as 46 air guns were surrendered and the government gave them appreciation letters. So far 2000 air guns have been surrendered.

Earlier hunting was a sessional activity but with the proliferation of air guns and rifles, found freely in markets, hunting posed a threat on the wildlife and often authorities found it difficult to enforce the Wildlife Protection Act.

Initially, people either opposed or remained reluctant to drop air guns and stop hunting but gradually they were convinced that the safety of wildlife was equally important for them. Hence in no time, the campaign gained momentum and people are coming forward to save birds.

“We need to change our mindset of looking at birds and animals only as a source of meat, as hunting isn’t a necessity in today’s date. We also need to understand the important role that wildlife plays in balancing the environment,” minister Natung had said at an ‘Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan’ programme in Yingkiong last week. 285 locals of the Upper Siang district had surrendered their airguns on the day.

‘Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ slogan by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is silly and self defeating

Someone has to say it.

“Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon” slogan Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been using for upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections is silly.

First of all, if taken out of political context, it perpetuates stereotype that girls are always into catfights and always indulging in fights.

And second of all, granddaughter of Indira Gandhi should be the last person to say this – the ‘ladki’ so to say, waged a war against Pakistan and won. So even before Priyanka Gandhi Vadra came with her baby steps on the political ground with the lame ‘Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ slogan, her grandma had been there, done that already.

With all her flaws, Indira Gandhi ruled the country with an iron fist and let us not forget the Emergency. For 21 month period. Lost elections and then won back with a landslide.

And then she is also daughter of Sonia Gandhi. Who is the longest serving President of the Indian National Congress.

While the party has now been reduced to the family business of the Nehru-Gandhi family, it is the Grand Old Party of India which has been in power for the better part of independent India. Does Priyanka Gandhi know that her mother was made party president within just 62 days of becoming primary member? Does she know how the ‘ladki’ that her mother was ‘fought’ and became the party president the first time? Let me do the honours.

In December 1997 Sonia Gandhi joined Congress formally and addressed her first election rally in Tamil Nadu. Soon, Sitaram Kesari, who was the Congress party president, was being forced to step down to make way for Sonia Gandhi to become the party president. At 82, Kesari wanted to stick around as party president a little longer.

On March 14, 1998, Congress Working Committee decided to ask Kesari to step down so Sonia could take over. He was reportedly locked up in the bathroom at Congress headquarters in Akbar Road so he could not stop Sonia from entering the office with her supporters to take over as party president.

Fair play, eh?

So, Priyanka, you come from an extremely privileged background. That there were people like Congress leader from Prayagraj Haseeb Ahmed rooting for you and asking you to take over the reins of party as well as country even before you had taken the plunge in politics says a lot about your privilege. All you’d have to do, should you choose to contest elections for Assembly, which I doubt you’d do because Gandhis never go below MP elections, you would have to ask and someone will vacate a ‘safe seat’ for you.

In context of Uttar Pradesh, the one who should actually use ‘Lakdi Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ slogan would be Mayawati. She has served as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in four separate terms. As a Dalit leader, she has had to put up a fight where caste equations matter the most: In Indian politics. Do you know she was the first female chief minister of India from a scheduled caste?

She may have had her flaws and political career muddled with allegations of corruption, but then isn’t your own brother Wayanad MP out on bail?

For ‘Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’, you’d have to give up on your family name, fortune, money and manpower and fight and win elections and prove it was not served to you on a ready platter like your brother and other members of the family. Till then, your slogan is as empty as your sibling’s beautiful mind.

Nagaland govt said it is grateful to Amit Shah for taking the matter with utmost seriousness and appreciated the union for taking necessary steps to ensure justice and responding to the voice of the people.

Amit Shah earlier assured that action would be taken at the highest level

On December 6, Home Minister Amit Shah addressed Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on the Nagaland firing incident in which 13 civilians lost their lives. HM Shah said that the security forces had got a tip-off about insurgents movement in the area.

A battalion of 21 Para Commandos had laid down an ambush to attack the insurgents on December 4 evening. During that time, a vehicle was passing by that was asked to stop by the security forces. Instead of stopping, the driver tried to escape the scene. The security forces suspected there were insurgents in the vehicle, and they opened fire. Six out of eight people died. Later it was found that it was a case of mistaken identity. Learning about the incident, the enraged villagers attacked the security forces, and in retaliation the soldiers opened fire on them, killing and injuring more civilians. One personnel was also killed in the mob attack, and some more were injured.

HM Shah said that on the evening of December 5 after the incident, a mob of around 250 people attacked the operating base of Assam Rifles in Mon and vandalized the base. They also set COP’s house on fire. The Assam Rifles personnel had to open fire to disperse the crowd that resulted in the death of one more civilian. Another Civilian got injured. HM Shah added, “Additional forces have been deployed in the area to ensure law and order is maintained. In a press note, the Army has expressed regret over the death of civilians.”

P Chidambaram insinuates TMC and AAP are vote-cutter parties, says they will split non-BJP votes in Goa

Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram in a recent interview with news agency PTI stated that non-BJP votes in the forthcoming elections in Goa will be fractured by Trinamool Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, according to reports. The former finance minister of India further mentioned that whether the splitting of the non-BJP votes in Goa will benefit Congress or BJP remained to be seen.

Chidambaram, who will play the part of Congress senior election observer for the coming Goa elections, when asked about the defection of Congress leaders to the opposition parties said, “99 per cent of Congress workers remain with the Congress. I am not unhappy that Mr Reginaldo Lourenco defected to the TMC. The TMC has taken a losing candidate from our hands and, if it fields him in the election, he will remain a losing candidate”. A few days back, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco had defected to Trinamool Congress after resigning as a Congress MLA.

On the speculations about TMC and Aam Aadmi Party posing as B teams of the Bharatiya Janata Party, P Chidambaram stated that he would refrain from commenting on the motives of any party and noted, “In a straight fight between the BJP and the Congress in 2022, the Congress will emerge as a clear winner.” adding, “The TMC and AAP are fracturing the non-BJP vote. Whether that will benefit the BJP, I cannot say,”

Furthermore, according to Chidambaram, Congress is the only party with deep roots in all the Goa constituencies. He said, “There is an overwhelming desire for change. The only party that has deep roots in all the 40 constituencies of Goa is the Congress. The people know that it is only the Congress that has the capacity to defeat the BJP despite the latter’s money power and misuse of state power. We hope to do well in the 2022 elections,”

Recently, a number of Congress leaders from the Porvorim assembly constituency with the support of independent MLA Rohan Khaunte submitted their resignation from the Congress party. Some even claimed that the Congress leadership in Goa lacked seriousness to contest the upcoming Goa elections. Gupesh Naik, the former Zilla panchayat member heading the Porvorim group made similar claims to the media where he alleged that the Congress party lacked seriousness for the coming elections.

Earlier, 5 Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders had left the party for playing vote bank politics. Names of the leaders who had quit TMC included Ram Mandrekar, Kishor Parwar, Komal Parwar, Sujay Mallik, and former MLA Lavoo Mamledar. These leaders expressed their dissatisfaction in a letter addressed to the West Bengal CM Banerjee where they claimed TMC did not understand Goa and Goans.

Girls chant Modi-Yogi at Priyanka’s rally in Uttar Pradesh, viral video shows them getting assaulted: Details

On December 26, a group of girls that were attending a marathon-cum-rally of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi at Jhansi chanted Modi-Modi and Yogi-Yogi. Several videos of the girls raising slogans favouring Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Congress’s rally went viral on social media platforms.

Shweta Bhattacharya, Journalist, Times Now, said in a tweet that Congress workers misbehaved with the girls that led to the chants of Modi-Yogi at the rally. She said, “These pictures are of Priyanka Gandhi’s Marathon in Jhansi! when Congressmen misbehaved with them, the girls told them ‘Ladki hain lad sakti hain’ and protested against Congress by raising slogans Modi-Modi, Yogi-Yogi.” Notably, “Ladki hun lad sakti hun (I am a girl, I can fight)” is a political slogan Priyanka Gandhi is using in her UP campaign.

Another video from different angle was shared by Vikash Maheshwari who echoed the similar statement that the Congress workers misbehaved with the girls.

It is noteworthy that BJP leader Priti Gandhi shared a video where the girls were seen being trashed. She wrote, “On one hand, @priyankagandhi Ji, you raise slogans of women empowerment, and on the other hand, your workers beat up girls in your program!! Very shameful incident!!”

A man could be seen snatching some bands from the girls in the video.

Apparently, tens of thousands of girls were called to participate in the ‘Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon’ marathon where Congress workers reportedly misbehaved with the participants who chanted Modi and Yogi slogans.

The Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are scheduled for early 2022.
