21-year-old Jawwad Khan has been arrested by Tonk Police, Rajasthan after his social media post celebrating death of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) in the chopper crash tragedy on December 8.

Tonk Police in a tweet said that over derogatory statements, Jawwad Khan, son of Abdul Nakki Khan, has been arrested. Khan is 21 years old and lives in near Raj Talkies. Police further stated that on 8th December 2021 it was brought to their notice that Khan had made derogatory statements and four special teams were formed to arrest the accused. Since then, he has been arrested and further investigation is on.

Over 40 camels disqualified from beauty contest in Saudi Arabia for using Botox

Saudi Arabia authorities have launched the biggest-ever crackdown on ‘manipulators’ who have been giving Botox injections and other artificial touch-ups to their camels for the annual camel “beauty” contest. The organisers have said in a statement that they would impose strict penalties against those who had indulged in the acts of ‘tampering and deception’. Reports suggest that over 40 camels have been disqualified from the beauty contest.

Camel beauty pageant is a month-long festival that takes place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, which is located on the northeast side of the desert. The judges have increased their drive against the manipulators who have been artificially enhancing the camels using different methods to improve the looks of their camels. Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said on Wednesday that the judges are using specialised and advanced technology to detect the cases of tempering.

This year, the Saudi Authorities found out that many breeders have used hormones to improve the muscles of the camels. They have reportedly injected camels’ heads and lips with Botox to make them look bigger. The breeders also used rubber bands to inflate body parts and used fillers to relax their faces. In its report, SPA said, “The club is keen to halt all acts of tampering and deception in the beautification of camels”, and the organisers have decided to impose heavy penalties against the manipulators.

Apart from being unfair to artificially enhance the beauty of the camels for the contest, the botox injection and other methods used are also injurious to the animals. Reportedly, one camel had ruptured its lips after getting injected with Botox for another beauty contest.

King Abdulaziz Camel Festival of Saudi Arabia started earlier this month. The prize money for the contest is around $66 million. As per the regulations, Botox injections, facelifts, and other cosmetic alterations are strictly prohibited as they make the camels more presentable than usual. Several factors, including the shape of the camel head, necks, humps, posture and dresses, play a vital role in deciding the winner. The beauty contest is part of the massive festival that also features sales, festivities, and camel races.

The idea is to preserve the role of camels in the Bedouin tradition and heritage of the kingdom. Camel breeding in middle-east is a multimillion-dollar industry, and similar festivals take place across the region.

A day after Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, his Wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others lost their lives in an IAF chopper crash in Coonoor, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari arrived at the site of the crash.

On Thursday (December 9), Chaudhari accompanied by DGP of Tamil Nadu C Sylendra Babu reached the crash site near Coonoor in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu.

Besides, a team of Tamil Nadu Forensic Science Department headed by Director Srinivasan too has arrived at the crash site near to assist in the investigation.

Meanwhile, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Chandi Prasad Mohanty too has cut short his two days visit to Qatar and is returning to Delhi.

IAF starts a tri-service enquiry

The visit of Chief Air Chief Marshal is important since IAF has ordered a tri-service enquiry into the crash. Defence Ministry informed that the investigation will be headed by Air Marshal Manavendra Singh. The inquiry team reached Wellington on December 8 and has started the investigation.

Black Box recovered

Wing Commander R. Bhardwaj leading a special team of 25 recovered the Black Box of the ill-fated Mi17v5 helicopter of the Indian Air Force on Thursday morning (December 9). The search team had expanded the area of search from 300 metres to one km from the accident site to get the Black Box. It will help the investigative team to know about the final flight situation and other details.

Eyewitnesses recall the accident

A video of the final moments of that Mi-17 chopper has gone viral which was carrying General Rawat and others and the investigative team is ascertaining its authenticity.

Krishnaswamy, an eyewitness said that he saw a person who was up in flames. “He was standing and then he fell. Then I saw three or four other people who were fully charred. I heard a loud noise and I saw the chopper approaching. As the chopper was descending it caught on fire. I crashed into a big tree here and the area was engulfed in smoke,” he said.

General Bipin Rawat was on a scheduled visit to Defence Services Staff College, Wellington to interact with the Student Officers. The chopper took off from Sulur Air Base at 11:48 am on December 8. It was expected to reach Wellington by 12:15pm. At approximately 12:08 pm, the Air Traffic Control at Sulur Air Base lost contact with the chopper.

A WhatsApp message is being circulated in which it is being said that a Twitter user with username draxler_77 changed his name from Anshul Saxena to Mustafa Riaz and abused Late CDS Bipin Rawat after his demise in the aftermath of the IAF helicopter crash on December 8. The WhatsApp message reads, “Remember how a Sanghi had abused Kohli’s daughter? The same thing happened again. Sanghi Anshul Saxena changed name to Mustafa Riaz (but forgot to change his username) and abused Gen Rawat! How low will Sanghi fall!?”

The WhatsApp forward, however, tells the story opposite to what has happened. The name was not changed to a Muslim name, but it was changed to a Hindu name, i.e. Anshul Saxena, from the earlier Muslim name, i.e. Mustafa Riaz. The person had written in his bio that he was from Hyderabad and studied/studying at Osmania University.

Interestingly, the particular user had earlier changed his name to Lakshay Bhavin before changing to Anshul Saxena and then later deleting his profile altogether. When we checked the cached version of his profile, we found out that his location was set to Peshawar, Pakistan and the name was ThePukhtunLad.

On searching more, we found a tweet from July 2020 in which he wrote, “I am from the yusufzai tribe and once my grandfather told me that we are bani Israel.”

In another tweet from February 12 this year, he had replied to IPS officer Pankaj Nain who published about an earthquake in Panchkula and wrote, “Here is Peshawar Pakistan too.” His three tweets and earlier location shows that the Twitter user draxler_77 is indeed a Pakistani who changed his location to Hyderabad, India and later changed his name to Hindu one just to mock and abuse Late CDS General Bipin Rawat.

Notably, Hyderabad Police had already taken cognizance of the tweet upon being reported by several netizens. Soon after Police got involved, the ID got deactivated.

The Kohli saga being used to whitewash crimes by Islamists

A couple of months back, when the Indian team lost to Pakistan in the T20 world cup match, a user had abused and given rape threats to cricket Virat Kohli’s daughter on social media. Earlier it was believed that he was an Islamist, but later a 23-year-old man identified as Ramnagesh Alibathini was arrested by the Mumbai Police in Hyderabad as the complaint against the abuser was filed in Mumbai.

The whole case is being used to whitewash the crimes that are being done by Islamists. There is no evidence that Ramnagesh Alibathini is a ‘Sanghi’, or a supporter of RSS-BJP. In this case, as well, the WhatsApp forward suggests that a Hindu man had changed his name to a Muslim one to abuse CDS Rawat. But in reality, the ID belongs to a person possibly hailing from Pakistan. The claim that a Hindu changed his name to Muslim and abused CDS Rawat is FALSE.

IIT Delhi takes cognisance of hateful tweet by student on Gen Rawat’s demise: Read how the ‘Hate Patroller’ is taking haters to the cleaners

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has taken cognisance of insensitivity displayed by one of its students, Ram Pabaharan, after the tragic helicopter crash that led to demise of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife and other top armed forces personnel on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

When the official confirmation of General Rawat’s demise came in, Ram tweeted, “GUYS that homophobic piece of trash DIED” and it was followed by celebratory emojis.

Responding to this, Professor V. Ramagopal Rao, Director of IIT Delhi, said that the institute will investigate the matter and take further action.

He also expressed disbelief that someone can do such insensitive in this hour of grief when the nation mourned the tragic and untimely demise of a brave soldier.

Professor Rao, in an email shared by Hate Patroller also said that they will take the action immediately.

Another such despicable tweet was by one Twitter user name Prabhal Chatterjee, who is currently employed in South Eastern Railways as per his social media profile.

Amongst other hateful posts by him, one was how he wished tragic death on all ‘fascists’. “Not a single fascist should not die a natural death. They should be held accountable for their war crimes and hanged,” he had posted on his Facebook wall.

As per his LinkedIn Profile he is currently employed with the Indian Railways. However, Hate Patroller later confirmed that Chatterjee has been detained at Mathura.

Hate Patrol Squad has also sought help from Bengaluru Police as well as University Law College in Bengaluru to take action against one student who identifies himself as Tirthraj Dhar who was found linking the tragic helicopter crash with upcoming UP elections.

The Bengaluru City Police has also tagged other authorities and asked them to look into the matter.

The Hate Patrol Squad has put up a few cases where some of the hateful Twitter users had to face consequences for their action.

In December 2020, on the first anniversary of passing of Citizenship Amendment Act which fast-tracked Indian citizenship for persecuted religious minorities in three neighbouring Islamic countries, a Twitter user by the name Mughaliya had abused Hindus and justified killing of them over the years by barbaric invaders.

Because of tweets depicting genocidal thoughts, Hate Patroller team reached out to the employers of Mughaliya, Vereigen Media, and he was terminated from his job subsequently.

Hate Patrol Squad has also frequently shared videos of various conferences and incidents where so-called liberals are found spewing hatred on Hindus.

The Hate Patrol Squad, which is an anonymous collective, states in its Twitter bio that it works to bring who spread hate on social media to account.

Following the chopper crash tragedy, many Islamists and ‘liberals’ had taken to various social media to either celebrate the tragedy that took away General Rawat’s life or justified the same because of his ideological slant which they assumed to be pro-Modi because it was pro-India. Some, like a former soldier Col Baljit Bakshi (R), who suggested that the chopper crash was karma dealing with people.

Similar tweet was made by Congress mouthpiece National Herald Editor Ashlin Mathew where she said ‘divine intervention’ soon after the crash.

She later claimed her tweet was not about the tragedy, but did not explain what else it was about.

The Modi derangement syndrome has reached such staggering proportions that in their mad hate for the Prime Minister of the country, the ‘liberals’ and Islamists, most of who reject the very concept of nationalism, have lost their sense of reasoning and have started hating everything Indian and Hindu.

On the 9th of December, the Supreme Court made the West Bengal government withdraw all 4 FIRs against OpIndia Editor-in-Chief Nupur J Sharma. The Supreme Court not only express concern about the reducing level of tolerance to dissenting views but also said that journalists suffer the consequences of information that is in the public domain.

Nupur J Sharma and other editors of OpIndia were being represented by senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani and lawyer Ravi Sharma. While the state of West Bengal was being represented by Senior Advocate Siddharth Dave.

Dear readers,

This note might be slightly emotional, so please bear with me. In 2020, I was interrogated for hours over 3 malicious FIRs that were filed against me. The FIRs pertained to a report we wrote on Azan being played at a Durga puja pandal, a report on COVID handling in Bengal and one on the Telinipara riots where Hindus were attacked.

During that time, my husband, who has nothing to do with OpIndia was interrogated, my father threatened, and Rahul Roushan, our CEO, was summoned for questioning as well.

A year after the Supreme Court stayed those FIRs, the Bengal government resurrected another FIR that we had no idea about. The FIR pertained to three reports on the Telinipara riots. The case was swiftly handed over to CID by the Bengal government and the malicious campaign against OpIndia had continued.

The Supreme Court stayed this FIR as well and asked the Bengal government to respond.

In the meantime, after the stay, there were threats that came my way, resulting in me shifting permanently out of Bengal.

In an almost cathartic end to this saga, today, the Supreme Court has ensured that the Bengal government withdraws all 4 FIRs against me with scathing comments against the Bengal government.

I will perhaps write a longer article to express the journey so far, but in this note, I would like to thank our readers, who stood by us when I was doubting myself. I would like to thank the OpIndia team who stood rock solid and I would like to thank my friends who did not leave my side even when I was potentially losing my mind after leaving Bengal. For my family, words would fall short. My husband and daughter happily uprooted themselves so I could continue to fight for Dharma. It is a debt I will never be able to repay.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefs the Parliament on CDS General Bipin Rawat’s chopper crash: Here is what he said

A day after the tragic demise of India’s Chief of Defence Staff Bipin Rawat, his Wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others in an IAF chopper crash in Coonoor, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed both the Houses of the Parliament on the details of the incident.

The Defence Minister said that CDS Bipin Rawat was on his way to Wellington where he was to interact with Defence Staff college students when his helicopter met with the tragedy. The IAF Mi17 V5 helicopter had left the Sulur airbase at 11.48 am and was scheduled to land in Wellington at 12.55 pm. The Sulur airbase traffic control lost contact with the Indian Air Force chopper at around 12.08 pm, informed Rajnath Singh.

He added that subsequently, a few locals spotted a fire in the forest near Coonoor and rushed to the spot where they observed the wreckage of the military helicopter engulfed in flames. Rescue teams from the local administration in the vicinity reached the site and attempted to recover the survivors from the crash site.

All those recovered from the wreckage were rushed to the Military Hospital, Wellington.

Latest reports have confirmed that out of the total 14 persons on board the ill-fated helicopter, 13 have succumbed to their injuries, said the Defence Minister

The deceased include CDS Bipin Rawat’s wife Mrs Madhulika Rawat, his Defence Adviser Brig Lakhbinder Singh Lidder, Staff Officer Lt Col Harjinder Singh and nine other Armed Forces personnel including the Air Force helicopter crew. Their names are Wing Commander Prithvi Singh Chauhan, Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh, Junior Warrant Officer Rana Pratap Das, Junior Warrant Officer Arakkal Pradeep, Havildar Satpal Rai, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitendra Kumar, Lance Naik Vivek Kumar, Lance Naik B Sai Teja.

Group Captain Varun Singh is on life support in the Military Hospital at Wellington and all efforts are being made to save his life.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh further informed the Parliament that the mortal remains of all IAF chopper crash victims will be brought back to Delhi by the evening today.

A tri-service investigation has been ordered into the IAF chopper crash incident. The probe will be led by Air Marshal Manavendra Singh, Air Officer Commander-in-Chief of the Training Command, the defence minister said, adding that the Chief of Defence Staff would be cremated with full military honour.

The Rajya Sabha observed a two-minute silence for CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife, and other personnel who died in the helicopter crash near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday.

Group Captain Varun Singh, the sole survivor of the IAF chopper crash on Wednesday, December 8, who had been undergoing treatment at the Military Hospital in Wellington is being shifted to the Air Force Command Hospital in Bengaluru.

According to reports, Singh is “critical, but stable at the moment”. The Shaurya Chakra awardee, who was admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries on Wednesday, is maintaining vitals.

Briefing Parliament today about the ill-fated chopper crash that comprised as many as four crew members, and nine passengers, including CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said: “Group Captain Varun Singh is on life support in the Military Hospital at Wellington and all efforts are being made to save his life.”

In August, the Air Force officer was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his bravery in piloting his plane when it suffered serious technical problems on a sortie last year. Despite the mid-air emergency, he had safely landed his Tejas fighter.

Group Captain Singh had gone to Sulur to receive General Rawat and escort him to the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. General Rawat was to address the faculty and students at the institute, where Group Captain Singh was Directing Staff.

IAF Mi-17V5 chopper crash

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other personnel died on Wednesday after the Indian Air Force chopper they were travelling in crashed around 12:22 pm on December 8 near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu.

The Mi-17V5 helicopter of IAF was on its way from Sulur IAF base in Coimbatore to Defence Staff College in Wellington when it crashed. 

Brigadier LS Lidder, the Chief of Defence Staff’s military adviser, staff officer Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh, Wing Commander PS Chauhan, Squadron Leader K Singh, JWO Das, JWO Pradeep A, Havildar Satpal, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitender Kumar, Lance Naik Vivek Kumar, and Lance Naik Sai Teja were among those killed in the crash.

CDS Rawat and his wife’s mortal remains will arrive in the national capital on Thursday evening, and their cremation will take place in Delhi Cantonment on Friday.

In Uttar Pradesh, a person named Nawazish has been arrested for faking his identity and trapping a Hindu girl to exploit her physically and finically. As per reports, the victim has lodged an FIR at the Aliganj police station of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

Nawazish, who is now in judicial custody had introduced himself as a Hindu named Vishal Thakur and befriended the girl. He used to put kalawa on his wrist to convince the victim, as per the complaint.

Police seized his mobile phone and laptop and found pictures, contact numbers and details of multiple girls. Some objectionable photographs and videos were in his mobile phone and laptop and the Lucknow police suspect that the accused might have trapped many other girls in grooming jihad with similar modus operandi.  

The accused had allegedly extorted around Rs 2.5 lakh from the victim, besides sexually exploiting her under a fake identity, as per the complaint.

After the victim lodged an FIR on November 6, the case was transferred to the Gazipur police station for investigation. Police arrested Nawazish when he was trying to run away to Ambedkar Nagar. Lucknow Police is also looking for his three other friends and their suspected involvement in the crime is being investigated.

According to Inspector of Gazipur police station Anil Kumar, the accused is a native of Bakhsari of Ambedkar Nagar and he is pursuing B. Tech from a private college. He also does some odd works like KYC update and runs a shop.

The victim came in contact with the accused in August as she had to do her KYC update. After getting her number, the accused sent her a friendship message and introduced himself as a Hindu boy.

The victim has stated that Nawazish had given her a fake Hindu identity and even used to wear Hindu religious symbols and show off that he follows Hindu rituals, to convince her for the relationship. The victim has submitted that Nawazish fooled her claiming he is facing financial troubles and had taken around 2.5 lakh rupees from her under the promise that he will marry her soon.

HS Panag brazens out his distasteful tweet on Gen Rawat’s death, ‘liberals’ rush to defend him

On Wednesday, shortly after the unfortunate news of the IAF helicopter’s crash with CDS Bipin Rawat on board broke, Retd armyman Lt Gen Panag shared a ‘RIP’ tweet for the CDS. At that time there was no confirmation on the condition of the helicopter passengers or the number of injured or dead.

Panag’s tweet was shared almost three hours before the official announcement by the Indian Air Force. Since then, Panag has been facing criticism on a social media platform for not waiting for the official word and hurrying to score goals on social media.

Many on Twitter slammed Panag for his insensitive tweet, asking what was the hurry and why could not he show a bit of sensitivity for the families of the 14 passengers on board that chopper who might be eagerly waiting for any news. As the nation grieved for those fallen and prayed for a miracle, expecting Gen Rawat to be among the survivors, brazen and insensitive tweets by the likes of Panag and others only exposed how some people put their personal biases over the national interest.

Author and columnist Salil Tripathi came forward in Panag’s support and asked everyone to apologise to the ‘good General’ (though he retired as Lieutenant General). He said, “Will all those who abused Lt General Panag earlier today for his tribute to CDS Rawat before the govt was prepared with its storyline to announce the tragedy, and questioned his patriotism, now apologise to the good general?”

Tripathi again supported Panag and said as Panag and Late Bipin Rawat knew each other, and he knew something, it was okay that he ‘expressed grief and condolences’. Somehow, taking Panag’s side did not go down well with Panag, and he barged into the conversation and claimed no one has a monopoly on the news. Panag defended his tweet, claiming that

Panag said, “Do you always do that? Check your own timeline. In the information age, no one has a monopoly over the news. IAF itself tweeted about him being on board the crashed chopper at 1353 hrs. I tweeted RIP an hour later.”

Tripathi tried to calm down the situation and told him that he was on his side, not the other way around. He said, “Lt Gen Panag, I’m supporting your right to say what you did. I was appalled by the abuse you received, including insane references about your loyalty. Truly, it is that lot which is dividing India; you have defended India with distinction.”

Panag acknowledged Tripathi’s explanation and noted it with ‘regret’.

It is notable here that many individuals, some ex-Army officers like Panag, another Col Baljit Bakshi, National Herald editor Ashlin Matthew were among those who were seen sharing insensitive and insulting tweets over the tragic demise of Gen Rawat and others in the chopper accident.
