Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik had earlier called for a SIT probe into the Aryan Khan drug bust case and informed that he would meet Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and state Home Minister Dilip Walse-Patil on the matter.
Malik had called for the SIT probe after an independent witness in the case, Prabhakar Sail, claimed that NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede who led the arrest of Aryan Khan in the drug bust case demanded Rs. 8 crore for the release of Aryan Khan.
Prabhakar Sail stoked a massive controversy recently when he made extortion allegations against the NCB in connection to the cruise rave party drug bust case. He had claimed that NCB demanded Rs. 25 crore from Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan and Rs. 8 crore out of the 25 crore was to be paid to the NCB Zonal director Sameer Wankhede.
Malik had also said that an organized crime was being carried on in the city. He said, “Two cases are open and not even one arrest has been made in a year. People were being called and money was being collected from them. False cases were being raised. If probed, there will be more revelations. We will demand CM for this SIT probe.”
Nawab Malik had also alleged that Sameer Wankhede was involved in “extortion and terrorising the Mumbai film industry”.
Former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir has slammed those celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in T20 World Cup Match. Gambhir stated that people bursting crackers for a Pakistan win cannot be Indians.
Those bursting crackers on Pak winning can’t be Indian! We stand by our boys! #Shameful
He said, “Those bursting crackers on Pak winning can’t be Indian! We stand by our boys! #Shameful”. Consequently, he was attacked for his comment by liberals on social media.
Twitter has become that shithole where celebrities and people in power attack powerless minorities. They politicize even a cricket match with their gutter politics. https://t.co/Es4ZQfQFTE
shut the fuck up jackass as far as i care someone could come light a cracker right in the middle of your asscheeks and it wouldn’t make a difference to me https://t.co/rau1inxlcy
Virender Sehwag had also raised questions about the celebration of Pakistan’s victory in parts of India. Sehwag had tweeted, “Firecrackers are banned during Diwali but yesterday in parts of India there were firecrackers to celebrate Pakistan ‘s victory. Achha they must have been celebrating victory of cricket. Toh, what’s the harm in fireworks on Diwali. Hypocrisy kyun ,Saara gyaan tab hi yaad aata hai.”
In his tweet, Sehwag had also mocked the banning of firecrackers during Diwali when people in parts of India celebrated Pakistan’s victory.

It should be noted that Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed had termed Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 World Cup Match as ‘victory for Islam’. Rasheed had pointed out that Muslims all over the world including those in India supported Pakistan in the match. He said,”For Pakistan, today’s India-Pakistan match was the final.”
Violent protests again gripped Pakistan as more than 8,000 Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activists began a procession to Islamabad from Lahore on Friday, October 22, to stage a sit-in for the release of their party chief Saad Hussain Rizvi and the ouster of the French ambassador from Pakistan.
As police forces intervened, fatal clashes erupted which continued and increased the death toll to 10 on Saturday. Among those killed are three policemen and seven TLP workers.
“A total of seven TLP activists have been killed by the direct firing of police and over 700 suffered injuries in Lahore so far,” news agency PTI quoted Ibn-i-Ismail, a TLP official as saying.
The condition of many injured workers was critical, he added.
The Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar confirmed that three officers had been killed in the overnight clashes in Lahore. “The policemen were accorded the highest degree of martyrdom in the line of duty,” he said, and warned that the rule of law must be ensured “at all costs.”
Soon after the incident, the blame game started. Pakistan police spokesperson claimed that the TLP members hurled petrol bombs on officials compelling the latter to take action to prevent them from damaging public property. “The angry mob also used sticks and pelted stones,” he said. Another spokesperson told the Reuters news agency that officials had resorted to firing teargas at the protesters after they attacked a police checkpoint.
Meanwhile, the members of the banned radical Islamist party Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) alleged that police instigated the violence by targeting its workers while they were trying to leave Lahore for Islamabad. A spokesperson, in a statement, alleged that TLP workers had experienced the “worst shelling in history”. He added that hundreds of party workers had been injured and several killed.
Videos of the violence emerge on social media
Many videos of the incident that have emerged on social media show heavy shelling and the use of tear gas during the violent protest. Hundreds of TLP members raised slogans against the authorities while demanding the immediate release of their 23-year-old leader Saad Hussain Rizvi and the expulsion of the French Ambassador.

Videos of the clashes between TLP workers and Pakistan police
These clashes are, however not new. In fact, it had begun in November last year after Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Saad Hussain Rizvi was apprehended by security personnel.
The background of dispute between TLP workers and Pakistan authorities
TLP is a banned radical Islamist group that was created in 2015 in order to block any modifications to the country’s current blasphemy law. A fundamentalist Islamic cleric named Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi founded the hardline party. His son Saad Hussain succeeded him as the Ameer of TLP after his death in November 2020.
According to sources, Saad Hussain was arrested as a result of the party’s ultimatum to the Imran Khan government to meet its four demands by April 20. The requests were first made in November of last year, following the execution of 46-year-old Samuel Paty in France by a young Jihadi terrorist and French President Emmanuel Macron’s subsequent denunciation of radical Islamists. TLP was also offended by the public display of cartoons of Prophet Muhammad in one French city.
On November 15, 2020, violence between TLP workers and police escalated to the point where the Pakistan government had to give in to their demands the next day. The Imran Khan government, through its Interior Ministry, issued a notification to release all TLP workers. On January 3 this year, the new successor of the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan Saad Hussain Rizvi threatened to launch countrywide protests if its demand of expelling the French ambassador is not met by February 17.
“If you have forgotten the promise, see our history… You have got time until Feb 17 to expel the French ambassador,” he had earlier warned. On February 11, the Imran Khan government reached a new agreement with TLP and assured that their demands will be tabled before the Parliament on April 20. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan had told TLP that no other PM had raised the issue of blasphemy on international platforms more than him. However, in his signature U-turn, Imran Khan failed to implement the agreement ahead of the April 20 deadline.
On Sunday (October 24), Pakistani journalist Mubasher Lucman sparked controversy after he alleged that fast bowler Mohammed Shami was made the ‘scapegoat’ by Indian skipper Virat Kohli during the T20 World Cup match against Pakistan. He made the remarks on his Youtube channel after Pakistan chased down the target (152 runs) set by India comfortably without the loss of a single wicket.
At about 8 minutes and 20 seconds into the video, Lucman claimed, “I was listening to the commentators and they were saying that Virat Kohli made Shami bowl the critical over. I began thinking as to why the Indian skipper did such a thing. I mean he had a lot of other bowling options. I was watching the match with my wife when I realised that it was done to make a Muslim player the target.”
He added, “I understood that Shami is a Muslim by his name. Kohli wanted him to bowl the last over so that he is targeted by the Indian media and its public. This will also ensure that the other top players are not questioned.” Mubasher Lucman had also dubbed the Indian cricket team as ‘Modi ki team.’
8) Pakistan Media also played major role.
After the match, Pakistani journalist Mubasher Lucman said that Mohammed Shami was made the scapegoat by Virat Kohli during the T20 World Cup match against Pakistan because Shami is a Muslim player. pic.twitter.com/bQSmTNvESE
Mubasher Lucman had also claimed that Pakistan’s victory was significant for Indian Muslims. “The victory is important in the context of the persecution, killings and atrocities on Indian Muslims. For them, the Pakistani flag is a ray of hope and freedom. The Indian Muslims, who did not migrate to Pakistan during the Partition, will today realise that the value of the victory of this Muslim-majority nation,” the Pakistani journalist had also claimed in his Youtube video.
It must be mentioned that Mohammed Shami bowled the 17th over of the match during which the Pakistan team managed to secure the win, with 13 balls to spare. Compared to other bowlers, Shami conceded the most runs (43) at an economy rate of 11.21.
It is also notable here that Md Shami is one of the most experienced and successful bowlers in the current Indian team. Also, Pakistan had not lost a single wicket through the 16 previous overs and was already looking for a comfortable win with enough balls to spare. Any cricket fan would understand that it is utterly stupid to suggest that that single over by Shami would have made any difference to the outcome of the match.
‘This was our final, Indian Muslims are also with Pakistan’: Pakistani minister
Earlier, Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad claimed that the victory of the Pakistani team in the cricket match against India was a victory for the entire Muslim world. “The Pakistani team had the emotional support of all Muslims of the world, including Muslims of India. This is the victory of the Muslim world. Pakistan Zindabad. Islam Zindabad,” he had concluded.
Dabur has issued an apology over the lesbian Karwa Chauth ad after it was condemned both by Hindus, for hurting their religious sentiments, and the woke camp, for using pride to promote a ‘regressive’ festival and product.
Dabur said in a statement on social media, “Dabur and Fem as a brand strive for diversity, inclusion and equality, and we proudly support these values in our organisation and within our communities. Our campaigns too reflect the same. We understand that not everyone will agree with our stance, and we respect their right to hold a different point of view. Our intention is not to offend any beliefs, customs and traditions, religious or otherwise. If we have hurt the sentiments of any individual or group, it was unintentional, and we apologise. We are also humbled by everyone who have showered their support for the brand and the campaign.”

In another statement hours later after the first, Dabur said, “Fem’s Karwachauth campaign has been withdrawn from all social media handles and we unconditionally apologise for unintentionally hurting people’s sentiments.”

The commercial had not gone down well with the LGBT community who accused the brand of promoting ‘regressive traditions’ such as Karwachauth. The ad was also condemned for glorifying fair skin and indulging in ‘colourism’. Hindus had opposed the ad for once again making a Hindu festival a platform for preaching moral sermons and social justice instead of conveying best wishes to people.
On Saturday (October 23), a Muslim woman was gang-raped by an Islamic cleric under the pretext of performing ‘Nikkah Halala’. The incident took place at a hotel in Transport Nagar of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
As per reports, the accused were identified as Maulana Sarfaraz and his two aides Hafiz Umaid and Riyasat. The victim (name withheld) was divorced by her husband about 6 months ago, under the banned practice of triple talaq. However, the duo got closer and wanted to remarry again. As per Islamic traditions, such a marriage could not be facilitated without the practice of Nikah Halala. The woman, a resident of Lisari gate, sought the help of Maulana Sarfaraz as he lived in the Shahjahan colony of Lisari gate.
The Islamic cleric convinced the woman that she could only remarry her first husband after the completion of Halala. He intimidated the victim into silence by claiming that it will be a matter of shame if others knew about it. He also vowed that his acquaintances would not contact them after Halala. Influenced by societal fear of judgment, the victim and her first husband agreed to the affair.
Victim gang-raped at hotel, managed to notify the police
For this purpose, Maulana Sarfaraz had called in his acquaintances Hafiz Umaid and Riyasat to Meerut on Saturday (October 23) from the Baghpat district. He had assured the victim that Hafiz Umaid would do the nikkah and leave in the morning after consummating the marriage. At about 9 o’clock in the night, the woman was taken to the hotel ‘UV-Inn’ that is located on National Highway-58 in Transport Nagar.
Under the pretext of ‘Halala’, Hafiz Umaid and Riyasat took turns to rape the woman. The victim somehow managed to contact her cousin and narrate her ordeal. On receiving information, the Transport Nagar police reached the hotel and arrested the two accused. Meerut SP City Vineet Bhatnagar informed that a First Information Report (FIR) was registered by the police against Hafiz Umaid, Riyasat and Maulana Sarfaraz on the complaint of the woman. The police have deployed teams to nab the Islamic cleric.
Islamic cleric still at large, cops launch a manhunt
The police have recovered the CCTV footage from the hotel and have recorded the statement of the hotel staff. During the preliminary investigation, it has come to light that Maulana Sarfaraz and his aides had earlier gang-raped several women in the name of Nikah Halala. He hails from Budhana in Muzaffarnagar and has been living in Lisari gate in UP for a long time. The absconding Islamic cleric and Hafiz Umaid would earlier teach at a madrassa in Milana village of Doghat.
Nikah-Halala is a practice of a divorced woman having to consummate the marriage with another man and then getting a divorce from him before remarrying her previous husband. In numerous instances, it has been seen that the woman is forced to have sex with multiple men by the husband after giving her the Triple Talaq. Despite their inhuman, exploitative nature, the practices continue to receive support from the AIMPLB.
Major services including medical emergencies and travel took a hit on Sunday in Rajasthan as the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government suspended internet services in several districts to curb ‘cheating’ in competitive exams.
Districts like Bikaner and Dausa, including capital city Jaipur, faced a 12-hour mobile internet shutdown from 6 AM on Sunday as more than 10 lakh aspirants sat for Patwari exams. The recruitment examination was conducted in more than 20 districts in the state over the weekend.
Emergency services impacted
As per a Times of India report, a startup operating in the medical space serving 10,000 people daily revealed that their medicine deliveries and instant doctor consultations were severely impacted by the two-day internet shutdown.
“In tier-II and tier-III cities, majority of the people depend on mobile Net. Because of shutdowns, people in need of medical attention could not book appointments with doctors. We serve about 8,000-10,000 people daily. The volume came down to about 2,000 on both the days,” said Shreyans Mehta, co-founder of Medcords.
People undertaking travel could not opt for web check-in for air travel, track train arrivals or book transport to airports, railway stations or hospitals.
Sanjay Kaushik, a tourism expert from Jaipur said, “Mobile internet is mostly used for communication. People travelling do web check-ins, track train timings and many other stuff. At hotels, restaurants, and shops, they pay digitally. They faced inconveniences. This does not send out a good image of the state.”
Another user unaware of the ‘masterstroke’ used by the state government as a clampdown on cheating Tweeted, “Recently learnt that Rajasthan shuts down Internet for the entire state during exams to ensure no cheating takes place.”

A commuter who was caught by surprise by the internet suspension said, “I thought the petrol station would have wi-fi and the machines would be working. But after filling up my tank, I discovered that I have to pay cash as the machine is not working. I had to call up home to get money and pay for the fuel.”
Question paper leaked before the exam
Ironically, despite the curbs, the Rajasthan police on Sunday arrested 12 people from Bharatpur in connection with an alleged question paper leak of the Patwari recruitment examination.
The police nabbed a gang who allegedly received the question paper just ahead of the examination and leaked it amongst the aspirants.
Internet suspended for REET
This is not the first time that the Rajasthan government suspended the internet across the state as a measure to curb cheating in competitive exams. We reported how the state government in September had suspended mobile internet services, bulk SMS/MMS and social media platforms in Ajmer district in the wake of the Rajasthan Teacher Eligibility Test (REET).
The decision to suspend mobile internet services was taken a day after the Rajasthan police apprehended a gang of four members with Rs 5.60 lakhs in cash in an alleged attempt to make dummy candidates appear for REET 2021.
Congress national media coordinator Radhika Khera mocked Indians while celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in the T20 World Cup. Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets while chasing a target of 152. Radhika Khera was overjoyed with the victory and appeared to interpret it as a defeat for ‘Bhakts’ and not for India as a country.
In her first tweet, the Congress national media coordinator said, “What Bhakts? How’s the taste? You have managed to humiliate yourselves?”

In her next tweet, Radhika Khera targeted ‘stupid Bhakts’ and “Malviya’s 2 rupees trolls”. She was presumably referring to Amit Malviya, the IT Cell head of the BJP.

In another tweet, she just used fire and chilly emojis.

Earlier, people on social media had given the Indian cricket team plenty of brickbats for losing to Pakistan. Pakistan defeated India for the first time in a World Cup event on Sunday after they defeated India by 10 wickets in their opening match of the T20 World Cup. Pakistan chased down the target of 152 with 13 balls to spare. The men in green never looked in trouble and chased down the target comfortably.
Radhika Khera brazens it out
Even after over 12 hours, Congress National Media coordinator Radhika Khera has not removed her distasteful tweet even though she has been panned by many netizens for the same. In fact, she has now claimed that her tweet mocking ‘Bhakts’ right after India lost to Pakistan was not on India Pakistan match.
Yes, I will definitely take legal action.
My tweet has been twisted and turned.
There was no reference whatsoever to cricket, or any one losing or winning.
But lies and deceit is the Karma & Dharma of BJP & it’s sponsored media! https://t.co/JjtvXZwkbe
Khera has claimed she will take legal action against those who reported on her tweet. However, she has not yet clarified what ‘insult’ she was speaking about right after India’s loss to Pakistan in T20 World Cup match.
In fact, she has also taken to tagging employees of people who are condemning her distasteful tweet against Indian cricket team.
She also tagged Indian Express to complaint about another of their journalist who criticised her distasteful tweet.
Meanwhile, as one Twitter user pointed out, this tweet by Khera has drawn more attention to her than her actual election campaign.
She was the Congress candidate from Janakpuri West in 2020 Delhi Assembly Elections. The number of Quoted Tweets she has on this tweet is twice the number of votes she got in the election. ? pic.twitter.com/rpvd6WmbD9
As seen above, the number of quoted tweets, most of them critical of her distasteful tweet, are more than the actual votes she got in 2020 Delhi state assembly elections. Khera had contested from Janakpuri constituency where she got merely 2084 votes. She had even lost her security deposit. At the time of this report, she has over 4,121 quoted tweets, most of which are critical of her. This is likely the most popularity she has ever gained.
Indian cricket legend Virender Sehwag mocked those who celebrated Pakistan’s victory against India by bursting firecrackers after Pakistan beat India in the T20 World Cup. Virender Sehwag also questioned what was the need to ban firecrackers for Diwali when they can be burst to celebrate Pakistan beating India in cricket.
However, the former cricketer’s angered liberals on social media who accused him of inciting hatred against the minority community in India.
Punjab Youth Congress targets Virender Sehwag
The Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) targeted Sehwag over his tweet where he supported firecrackers for Diwali while condemning those who celebrated Pakistan’s victory against India.
The PYC said, “From colors of India to communal colors . Viru phaji, what hypocrisy is this when sons of farmers die on border and there fathers on singhu, do not get your attention but everything else including all this nonsense of bursting crackers. You were a role model once, not bjp model.”

His grandfather was RSS worker. But they always encouraged me to offer my namaz at their place by even covering photos of their deities. This new India is beyond recognition now,” he had said.
UP and Bihar students thrash Kashmiris in Punjab for cheering Pakistan
Kashmiri students at the Bhai Gurdas Institute of Engineering and Technology in Sangrur, Punjab were thrashed by students from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for cheering for Pakistan during their match against India in the T20 World Cup.
Sangrur SSP Swapan Sharma has said that both sides have offered their apologies before the Police and the matter has been settled.
A day after Congress accused RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav of using casteist slur against the AICC in-charge of Bihar, Bhakt Charan Das, the Grand Old Party resorted to attacking PM Modi with casteist slurs.
In its social media campaign against PM Modi, the official Twitter account of All India Mahila Congress used #TeliKiMaar hashtag to mark their opposition to the rising fuel prices. Teli is an OBC community, predominantly residing in northern India and traditionally occupied in the pressing of oil.
Source: Twitter
Along with the patently casteist hashtag, the All India Mahila Congress shared an infographic saying the prices of edible oil have skyrocketed by 34 per cent in the month of September.
While the casteist slur made by the Congress unit involved Teli community, it is worth noting that PM Modi belongs to the Modh Ghanchi caste, another OBC community just like Teli, and has endured countless casteist attacks launched by the Congress party.
Congress’ repeated casteist attacks against PM Modi
Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar had taken digs at PM Modi’s humble beginnings and called him a ‘chaiwalla’. He had also referred to Modi as ‘neech insaan’ which got him suspended from Congress. Sanjay Nirupam, another serial abuse has often used derogatory terms to abuse PM Modi by referring to him as ‘illiterate and uncouth’.
PM Modi’s humble background has always been a point of criticism for Congress leaders. After senior Congress leader, CP Joshi’s cheap casteist slur against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders of the BJP, Uttar Pradesh’s Congress Chief Raj Babbar had stooped to his lowest by pulling Modi’s mother into this muck and comparing the devaluing rate of the Indian rupee to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aged mother.
In 2014, Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil had alleged that Narendra Modi is a “fake OBC”. He had also claimed Modh Ghanchi caste was not in the OBC list before Modi became CM. At that time, the Gujarat government had issued a clarification saying that Modi’s caste was notified as OBC in 1994 itself.
Congress slams Lalu Prasad Yadav for his casteist jibe at AICC leader
Ironically, the use of casteist slur against PM Modi came a day after Congress had expressed strong objection to supposedly casteist remarks made by RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav against All India Congress Committee in-charge for Bihar, Bhakt Charan Das.
Addressing the media on Sunday over bypolls to Tarapur and Kusheshwar Asthan assembly seats, Lalu Yadav derided former ally Congress as he questioned the party’s usefulness as a poll partner. Lalu Prasad said if the RJD had left an assembly bypoll seat in the state for the Congress, the latter could lose even its deposit.
RJD’s decision to go solo in the polls elicited a sharp reaction from Bhakt Charan Das, who accused Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party of betraying Congress.
When asked about the allegation by Bhakt Charan Das that by turning its back on the Congress, the RJD was helping the BJP, Lalu Yadav quipped, “Bhakt Charan is a bhakchonhar (stupid person)”.
The controversial remark came ahead of his return to Bihar after 6 months of convalescing from his illness in New Delhi following release from jail on bail post-conviction in fodder scam related cases in April this year.
Lalu’s insulting remarks did not sit well with the Congress party, which accused the former Bihar CM of slighting the Dalits of the country. Bihar Congress spokesperson Rajesh Rathore said, “Lalu Prasad Yadav insulted not only Bhakt Charan Das but all the Dalits of the country. The brunt of leaving the Congress was in the 2009 Lok Sabha and 2010 assembly elections. RJD has suffered. RJD should take a lesson from this.”
