Hindu shopkeeper Shyam whose shop was gutted by a violent Muslim mob during Delhi Anti-Hindu riots needs your help

The Delhi Anti-Hindu riots orchestrated by radical Muslim mobs have resulted in 42 deaths, besides damage to livelihood and properties. On February 24, violence broke out in certain areas of North-East Delhi such as Chandpur, Maulpur and Brahmapuri.

Muslim mobs went on a rampage, amidst chants of ‘Allah Hu Akbar’ and ‘Nara e Taqbeer’ and engaged in arson, stone-pelting and vandalism. The visit of American President Donald Trump was overshadowed by a horrifying episode of unprecedented violence and rioting.

Social media is abuzz with heart-wrenching tales of Hindus who have been victimised by the mob, masquerading as Anti-CAA protestors. Shyam is one such victim of the Delhi Anti-Hindu riots.

Recounting the horror, the poor Chaiwala said, ” I was in my shop making tea on Monday. From the morning, the Muslims in the area were protesting against the CAA. Then I heard that a large mob, with thousands of Muslims, is proceeding towards this area, smashing shops and moving from Changbagh towards Karawal Nagar. We quickly pulled the shutter and escaped through the back door. But the mob did not spare my shop. They brought a sewing machine and broke the shutter with it. They first looted the shop, then ransacked it, broke everything that they could not take. Then a petrol bomb came from Tahir Hussain’s rooftop and burnt my shop.”

Shyam narrates that they were so scared that they spent the rest of the day and night holed up in a corner, hungry and thirsty. When police forces came the next morning, Shyam mustered the courage to come out and go towards his shop. When he reached and saw what had become of his shop, the means of livelihood, he broke down.

Neighbours told us that since that day, Shyam has neither changed nor have eaten a morsel of food. “I am ruined. I have no idea where to go or what to do.” He says that overall, he lost over 5 lakh rupees.

OpIndia is, therefore, organising a fundraiser campaign to help Shyam bear the damages of the Delhi Anti-Hindu riots and set up his shop once again. Here are the bank details (as verified by our team):

Shyam Sahni
Bank of Baroda, Yamuna Vihar, Delhi
Ac no- 44630100001671
IFSC- BARBOYAMDEL (Fifth character is the number ZERO)

The story of Shyam is a testimony of how political correctness and attempts to whitewash the dangers of radical Islamic extremism can have devastating effects on the life of a common man. It is in times such as this when the Hindu community should set aside its differences and be united to protect and safeguard the livelihood of one of its own.

JNU admin warns ultra-left dominated students’ body against giving shelter to alleged riot ‘victims’ after campus residents raise alarm

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration has warned JNU Students’ Union (JNUSU) for asking the alleged riot victims to take shelter in the campus. The varsity has asked the union to refrain from such activities.

In the notice, registrar Pramod Kumar, said, “JNUSU has no legal right to make the JNU campus a ‘shelter’. You are strictly advised against any such activity failing which appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against you.”

Jawaharlal Nehru University Registrar Pramod Kumar has also warned of disciplinary action against students found involved in any such efforts.

According to the notice, the JNU administration had received multiple calls from the campus residents who said they were feeling insecure due to the call given by the JNUSU.

However, the controversial students union, mainly comprised of ultra-wing elements, claimed that the JNUSU office comes under their purview and that “JNU has always been open for people in need. We had also provided shelter to the 1984 riot victims.”

The JNUSU in a post claimed that as part of their drive to ‘uphold social harmony’, they had given a call for volunteers. It had asserted while there are many rescue teams working in the city, ‘we would like to inform that our campus/JNUSU office is open to all people who need shelter.’ Their posters had the names and numbers of four JNUSU central panel members.

The anti-Hindu riots that engulfed the streets of Delhi have resulted in deaths of more than and more than 220 people sustained injuries in the violence that started on Sunday. The injured include around 70 persons from the security forces. 48 FIRs had been filed and 514 suspects had also been rounded up by the police. The cops have set up 2 SITs for investigating serious cases of offence that took place during the riots.

Sharjeel Imam, columnist at The Wire, rabid Islamist and riot instigator, sent to judicial custody for 14 days by a Assam court

On Friday, JNU student turned radical Islamist Sharjeel Imam, who is also a columnist with Left propaganda website The Wire, was sent to 14-day judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. He was earlier remanded to 4 days in custody that was later extended to more 4 days until February 24.

Sharjeel was brought to Guwahati from New Delhi on February 20 via the Brahmaputra Mail. He was greeted with slogans like “Sharjeel murdabad” by a horde of protestors. Besides Assam police, Arunachal Pradesh may also seek his remand. A crime branch source said, “Unless no other state police want his custody, he will be lodged here.”

The Guwahati City Police Crime Branch had booked him under sections 153 (A), 153 (B), 124 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). and 13(1)/18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The Delhi police had earlier filed a charge sheet in court against Islamist Sharjeel Imam for instigating riots during the Anti-CAA protests at New Friends Colony near Jamia Millia Islamia University on December 15, 2019. He was arrested from Bihar on January 28 following his threat of “separating Assam and North East from India.”

The cops had mentioned Imam as an ‘instigator’ of the violent protests that had erupted on December 15. One of the Jamia Nagar violence accused, Furkhan, has reportedly claimed that he was provoked by Imam’s speeches.

While Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students levelled up their rants on January 16 shouting ‘Azaadi’ slogans and demanding the release of the Shaheen Bagh mastermind, Sharjeel Imam, the Patiala House court has handed over the radical Islamist’s custody to Assam Police on the strength of the production warrant.

Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had revealed that Islamist Sharjeel Imam has admitted during interrogation that he met Assam Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal at his Delhi residence prior to the anti-CAA protests which turned violent in the national capital.

Nevertheless, his Muslim supporters have been demanding his release. They have now painted Graffitis on Jamia walls demanding to free him. The poster apparently painted by one Meer Faisal has captioned: “Chakka Jam is not sedition”, and has a picture of the radical Islamist. It reads: “Sharjeel is the voice of dissent, you can’t silence it”.

93 flats in Muthi, Nagrota, Purkhoo, and Jagti camps made for Kashmiri Hindus illegally occupied, exercise under way to evict them: Read details

Several illegal occupants of apartments in neighbourhoods in Jammu built for Kashmiri Hindus have been served show-cause notices. This exercise has been undertaken to evict such squatters and accommodate genuine Kashmiri Pandits in the government-built flats, reports Hindustan Times.

Reportedly, 93 flats allocated to Kashmiri Pandits have been occupied in violation of norms. More than 300 applications are pending with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants) for allotment of accommodation to registered Kashmiri migrants families.

“We have issued a notification after we found that 93 flats have been occupied in violation of norms. It’s a beginning and we are trying to do a thing as per the law. These flats are locked out since long,” relief commissioner (migrants) TK Bhat said.

He further added that nearly 93 flats in Kashmiri migrant colonies and camps at Muthi, Nagrota, Purkhoo, and Jagti have found to be illegally occupied by persons who have not been allowed these flats.

Show cause notices have been served to such illegal occupants, who have been asked to file their response citing reasons as to why their allotments should not be cancelled. These persons have to submit their responses by March 10.

The migrants are Hindu Pandits who were forced out by Islamic terrorists from the Kashmir valley after the outbreak of terrorism in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Shadi Lal Pandita, president of the Jagti Tenement committee in Nagrota said only genuine Kashmiri Pandit families displaced due to terrorism from Kashmir should get these flats. There are many Pandit families who are dependent on cash relief for their sustenance and live in rented accommodation, he added.

Read: Saba Naqvi mirrors Jihadis, insinuates that re-settling Kashmiri Pandits in the valley is a part of the ‘Hinduisation’ project

Pandita said the people who had been allotted the flats do not live in them.

“Some of them have moved to Delhi, Bengaluru and other cities. Some of them have gone abroad. They have constructed their own houses and are living in them but at the same time, there are migrants living in rented accommodations and sustaining their lives on government relief. They are the deserving cases but are suffering. Genuine cases should be given the accommodation and not those having constructed their own houses,” he added.

According to Pandita, other than the 93 flats under illegal occupation, there were more than 100 other flats where people, after allotment, never occupied them. “In the past seven years, I didn’t see anyone in those flats. None came to live in them,” he added.

Pandita said migrant families that were initially allotted two-room flats comprising a room, a small lobby, a kitchen and a washroom, have also grown in size to eight to 12 members.

He added that it would be appropriate if the government allots those illegally occupied flats and the ones that were never used, to such deserving families. These are the families having old and ailing members and some among them are battling cancer, added Pandita.

Jagti Satellite Township constructed by the United Progressive Alliance government for Kashmiri Pandit migrants has 4,226 flats.

In September last year, the government ordered a re-verification of the quarters allotted to Kashmiri Pandit families living in various camps at Nagrota, Muthi, Purkhoo and Jagti. The step was taken after more than 200 flats were found locked for years together in Jagti.

As the coronavirus outbreak expands to more countries, it may have adverse effect on stock markets: Report

It seems the markets might not be away from the impact of the deadly Coronavirus. A report by Livemint showed that investors have been selling the stocks with Nifty 50 being down 7% from in the past six trading sessions.

On Friday, Bajaj Finance Ltd was trading 7% lower. Experts feel that the impact of the virus can potentially start a long-term global slowdown. The fall in the trade is also due to the present equity valuations which are already stretched.

The report further states that both domestic and global markets were already trading at record levels and extremely high valuations a month ago. Nifty soared to a price-earnings multiple of over 19 times on the financial year of 2021 earnings, which is quite worrisome. Any slowdown in the global markets will see the stocks getting re-priced at lower rates.

The larger concern remains to what extent will the markets be affected by the virus. Europe is now registering new cases while America has also seen a spike in cases. Global equity research firm Jefferies has warned that the outbreak of the disease can not just cause a problem for hospitals but also rattle the markets as well. Jefferies further noted, “If not managed correctly, this could significantly rattle markets.”

Tourism, as well as the airline sector, are in danger of shrinking if the virus remains rampant. Due to Wuhan being the origin point of this disease, prices of major metals are down. Sectors such as pharmaceuticals and upstream oil and gas companies are also vulnerable to a slowdown since China accounts for about 15% of the global economy.

Although India is not directly affected, a global risk-off mode means foreign investors will be shuffling their portfolios and gold to safe havens such as US Treasuries. So, prolonged uncertainty in the equity market cannot be ruled out until the impact of the virus can be quantified and curtailed.

The markets can regain itself, depending on the pace to which the virus can be contained.
According to Marc Faber, the coronavirus is just the catalyst to a decline which had started by ignoring the slowdown of the global economy since 2019. So the virus simply has enforced its impact. On Friday, the BSE Sensex plunged nearly 1,450 points amid rising concerns of the virus.

Temple desecration by Muslim mob triggered the attack on mosque: Eyewitnesses of Delhi riots

0

Communal clashes broke out in several parts of the National Capital earlier this week as anti-CAA rioters ran riot, clashing with the pro-CAA supporters and wantonly indulging in acts of violence, arson and vandalism. Soon, the clashes turned into full-blown Hindu-Muslim riots as large scale violence was unleashed against the Hindus.

In one such incident that captured the national attention, IB sleuth Ankit Sharma was mercilessly dragged by a ferocious Muslim mob operating from AAP leader Tahir Hussain’s building. A video of a frenzied Muslim mob standing atop the Hussain’s bungalow hurling petrol bombs and stones in the opposite lane had gone viral. The witnesses claimed that it was this mob which dragged Sharma and 2 other inside the bungalow. Later, Sharma’s badly mutilated body with hundreds of stab wounds was found abandoned in a ditch in Chand Bagh.

In order to determine the origins and severity of the attack, journalist Swati Goel Sharma and her colleague Sanjeev Newar canvassed the residents of the Hindu locality around the AAP corporator Tahir Hussain’s house.

According to the residents, the unruly Muslim mob perched on the top of Hussain’s building wildly flung bricks and petrol bombs at the opposite street, in order to attack a Shiv temple located there. A building adjoining to the temple was burnt down by the rampaging mob. The incessant attack on the temple structure had rendered the entire edifice rickety and tottering, on the verge of collapse.

In a Twitter thread, Newar shared the findings of his expedition around Tahir Hussain’s house. The streets, as well as buildings around the AAP corporator’s house, were strewn with bricks and the remains of petrol bombs.

Amidst the ensuing violence, a video of an attack on a mosque in Delhi’s Ashok Nagar had gone viral. The video was used by the liberal brigade to project Hindus as aggressors while Muslims as the innocent victims of the saffron onslaught. However, according to the eyewitnesses of the Delhi riots, it was the Muslim community who initiated the communal flare-up by first attacking a Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva.

“They are declaring through mosques the coordinated attacks on Hindus and their temples with date and time, specifically mentioning the number of temples in the area and threatening that not a single temple will be left. They had attacked a Shiva temple in Moonga Nagar, lane number 5 by hurling petrol bombs and stones at it,” one of the eyewitnesses said.

When asked if the attack on the temple in Moonga Nagar, lane number 5 had preceded the attack on a mosque, a video of which had gone viral, all the eyewitnesses replied in unison that the attack on the temple by Muslim mob happened before the mosque was attacked.

In another video attached by Sanjeev, an eyewitness corroborated the claim that Muslim mob had launched an offensive against the Shiva temple situated in the Moonga Nagar, lane number 5.

“The Muslim mob from Tahir’s bungalow were targeting the temple but because this furniture shop stood before the temple, they attacked this building as well and set it on fire. They had hurled petrol bombs and stones at the temple. The attack from the Muslim mob had rendered the building so weak and frail that it can collapse any time now. If you visit the terrace of the nearby building, you will see stones, bricks scattered all around there,” an eyewitness said.

After delaying for more than a year, AAP government gives permission for prosecuting Kanhaiya Kumar and two others in JNU sedition case

The AAP led Delhi government on Friday finally gave nod to prosecute former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar and others in a sedition case, in which the Delhi police special Cell had submitted 1200-page charge-sheet on January 14 last year. The application had been pending since then with the Delhi government.

The JNU sedition case had seen no proceeding so far due to the Arvind Kejriwal government’s refusal to give nod for prosecution. Accused in the case are Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and several others.

Finally, permission was given after Delhi Police wrote to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s government last week requesting it to expedite the process. That letter was sent hours after a court directed cops to send a reminder to the ruling AAP.

Kanhaiya Kumar welcomed the Delhi govt’s decision for approval for prosecution against him, saying that a speedy trial in the case is required so that the country can know how the sedition law is misused for political benefits and divert attention of people from basic issues. He thanked the Delhi govt for the decision, and urged the Delhi police and government lawyers to take the case seriously, wished that a speedy trial in the case is conducted in a fast-track court, so justice is ensured in a court of law instead of courts of TV channels.

While Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari welcomed the decision, he took a subtle jibe at Arvind Kejriwal over the delay in decision making. “Probably keeping the current political situation in mind, Chief Minister Kejriwal has finally given sanction prosecute Kanhaiya Kumar. We welcome the decision. We have been demanding (this)… let the law take its own course,” Tiwari said.

A case was registered against Kumar and the others under sections 124-A and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Vasant Kunj police station in 2016. A charge sheet was filed in connection with the case on January 14, 2019.

On February 6th 2019, the Patiala House Court had asked Delhi police to speed up the proceedings by obtaining Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government’s sanction for prosecution. It had also added that state government cannot delay the case by withholding nod for prosecution.

But it was revealed before the court that the Delhi government did not respond to the charge sheet after receiving it. According to Delhi police, first request to sanction prosecution was sent in 2016, and another request was sent in January 2019, without any results.

In cases like JNU sedition row, Police has to solicit a sanction to prosecute from Delhi state’s law ministry. Then the file has to go to Lt. General. The court cannot take cognisance of charge sheet without state government’s nod.

In February 2016, the students of JNU had organized an event to mark the anniversary of terrorist Afzal Guru who had attacked the Indian Parliament. Many slogans challenging the Indian State’s sovereignty and calling for its balkanization were raised. At the event, slogans like ‘Bharat Tere Tukde Honge’ and Afzal hum sharminda hain, tere katil jinda hain’ were captured in news reports.

“Coronavirus outbreak has reached a decisive point now”, says WHO, urges action to prevent infection and save lives

The deeply intensifying health crisis caused due to the deadly epidemic of Coronavirus has put The World Health Organisation into anxiety. The death toll in China due to Coronavirus has climbed to a mark of 2788 as 44 people died of the deadly virus in one night whereas overall confirmed cases on coronavirus infection have reached 78,824 as per Chinese officials.

Various nations are applying different measures to avoid the epidemic. After China, South Korea is turning to be an epicentre of the CoVid-19 virus where it reported 315 cases in one day. The WHO has expressed concern saying, “Coronavirus outbreak is “getting bigger”, the scenario of it reaching multiple countries, “if not all countries” is something we have been warning about for quite a while.”

The World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom asked the nations to prepare for a pandemic. Tedros said, “This virus has pandemic potential. This time is not for fear. This time is for taking action to prevent infection and save lives.”

“We are actually in a very delicate situation in which the outbreak can go in any direction based on how we handle it,” he added.

The rapid spread of coronavirus raised fears of a pandemic on Friday, with seven countries reporting their first cases, the World Health Organization reported in a tweet. WHO said, “We are at a decisive point.”

There are cases of reinfection of some people who were cured. The global health body clarified that it is observing some people getting re-infected and there is need to look at how tests were taken, but in general, a person who had the deadly infection would be immune at least for a while.

Scientists say much remains unknown about the deadly virus, which can lead to pneumonia, and a vaccine could take up to 18 months to develop.

In the meanwhile, India has been declared out of danger of coronavirus epidemic by health officials. According to the recent reports, there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in India, after three confirmed cases were discharged from hospital after complete recovery. India is screening passengers at the airports to avoid the possible exposure of Coronavirus.

Farmers in Congress-ruled Rajasthan begin indefinite sit-in, demands revision of compensation against land acquired by government

0

Thousands of farmers in Congress-ruled Rajasthan started an indefinite dharna (sit-in protest) demanding for a review of compensation against land acquired by the government for two highway projects. The agitation has started in Jalore district in the state.

Bharat Bhoomi Bachao Sangharsh Samiti president Ramesh Dalal, who is leading the protest, claimed that nearly 3,000 farmers in the state have been affected by the land acquisition.

“We are demanding revision of compensation awarded against land acquisition for two highway projects,” Dalal said adding that nearly 10000 farmers are participating in the dharna at Bhagora in Rajasthan’s Jalore district.

Demanding strict and prompt action against guilty officers, the Bharat Bhoomi Bachao Sangharsh Samiti president alleged that there have been several irregularities in the process of determining compensation for the farmers whose land have been acquired for the highway projects.

Confirming that he has already held talks regarding the issue with a district administration official Dalal said: “We have given the officers an ultimatum and told them that the talks will be held at the dharna site only. Senior officials should come here and put forth the government”s side. Our demands are clear and we want the government to fulfil them,” he said.

Dalal added that the future course of action will be decided on Saturday if there is no positive response from the government.

Of the two proposed highways, one will pass from Rajasthan’s Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Barmer and Jalore districts, whereas the other will pass from Dausa, Alwar and nearby areas.

This is not the first time the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan is facing the ire of miffed farmers. Last year, the state of Rajasthan had witnessed sporadic incidents of farmer suicides on account of dubious promises of farm loan waiver made by the Congress-ruled government.

In June 2019, a 45-year-old farmer ended his life at Thakri village in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district on Sunday, leaving behind a farewell video and a two-page note accusing the Ashok Gehlot government of failing to deliver its pre-poll promise of waiving bank loans.

Rahul Gandhi led Congress came to power in various states promising several sops of loan waivers, high MSP etc, but failed to deliver on its promises. The false promise of loan-waiver by the Congress party had taken several lives in Congress-ruled states of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

In addition to this, a farm loan waiver scam appeared to be brewing in the state of Rajasthan after non-existent names appeared on the list surfaced in Rajasthan after the Congress government initiated the loan waiver scheme. Scores of names appeared in the list of beneficiaries for the farm loan waiver scheme who had no loans against their names raising suspicion on the intention of the farm loan waiver scheme by the Congress government.

“International community cannot be misled by Pakistani hysterical reactions to malign India”: India at Human Rights Council

0

In response to various misapprehensions raised against India by Pakistan, OIC and Belgium, the Ministry of External Affairs of India exercised its “Right of Reply” at the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva to issue a strong-worded response to counter the propaganda surrounding Jammu and Kashmir, NRC and India’s democracy.

Earlier, Pakistan raked up the Kashmir issue at the session and demanded the lifting of communication blockade in Jammu and Kashmir, the release of all the political leaders and activists in the Valley, saying any “inaction” by the international community will only “embolden” India.

Pakistan’s Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari alleged that India continues to violate the human rights of the Kashmiri people and demanded the immediate repeal of all actions by India on August 5 last year in Kashmir.

However, describing Pakistan as “pernicious cradle of terrorism”, India slammed the neighbouring country for voicing concerns over human rights in Jammu and Kashmir while harbouring terrorism in its own backyard.

Here’s India’s response at the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council:

Mr Vice President,

  • India is exercising its right of reply to Pakistan’s statement under Agenda Item 2.
  • At the outset, we would like to inform the Council that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is fast returning to normalcy despite serious attempts by Pakistan to derail the positive developments through its active support to terrorist groups and related entities. Mr Vice President,
  • India’s time tested democratic institutions are robust and adequate enough to address any challenge including those instigated from outside, in order to safeguard the interests of all our citizens including minorities.
  • The international community cannot be misled by Pakistani hysterical reactions at all international fora to malign India. The world knows about the dismal human rights records of Pakistan and tight control cannot hide it all. Let us advise Pakistan for its own good and for the peace and prosperity of the South Asian region. First, end the illegal and forcible occupation and reverse the demographic changes in Pakistan occupied Jammu and KashmirSecond, stop terror funding and dismantle terrorist camps operating in Pakistan and territories under its controlThird, stop public advocacy and support for terrorists by Pakistani leadership at the highest level

Fourth, take structural reforms to develop a semblance of democracy in Pakistan

Fifth, end harassment and execution of minorities through the misuse of the blasphemy law

Sixth, end forced conversions and marriages of women and girls from Hindu, Sikh and Christian religions

Seven, stop killing and targeting political dissidents and legitimate criticism in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Eight, prevent enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of journalists and human rights activists by its security agencies

Nine, stop religious persecution against Shias, Ahmadiyas, Ismailia and Hazaras

Tenth, stop recruitment of children for terror activities including a suicide bombing in other countries And the list is endless

  • Blasphemy law against Aasia Bibi, persecution of Abdul Shakoor, an Ahmadiya, Jagjit Kaur, a minor Sikh girl subjected to abduction and forced marriage are the norms of the day for minorities in Pakistan.
  • As regards OIC, it has no locus standi to comment on the internal affairs of India. Jammu and Kashmir was, is and shall forever remain an integral part of India.
  • As far as Belgium’s comment on NRC is concerned, as a close partner of India, we wish, Belgium could have checked the factual position with us before coming to any conclusion on the issue. Our Prime Minister has clearly said that no discussions have taken place on NRC anywhere except following Supreme court directives in Assam.
