DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat confirmed that the organisation is fully prepared to develop the next-generation Agni-VI intercontinental ballistic missile once it receives government clearance.

The move has fanned speculations that the test might involve the latest variant of the Agni series ballistic missiles. India has successfully tested five nuclear-capable ballistic missiles in the Agni series.

The Indian Air Force is considering acquiring Israel’s air-launched LORA missile, known for its 430-km range and radar-evading high-trajectory attacks. The move aims to complement BrahMos and strengthen India’s airstrike capabilities while boosting domestic defence production under 'Make in India'.

In a statement ISPR DG said, “I have shocking news to share. India has just fired six ballistic missiles from Adampur. One of these ballistic missiles has hit Adampur itself, while the remaining five missiles have hit the Amritsar area in Indian Punjab.”

Oreshnik missile can carry "dozens of homing warheads," reaching temperatures of 4,000 degrees Celsius.
