Padma Bhushan

The Padma Awards, once criticised for rewarding loyalists and political affiliates, now reflect a broader spectrum of contributions, recognising those who have shaped India’s cultural, ideological, and social landscape through their work.

The Union government on Saturday released the list of Padma Award winners on the eve of the 76th Republic Day celebrations.

The awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher order), and Padma Shri (distinguished service)

Dr SL Bhyrappa has written 24 novels, four volumes of literary criticism, and books on aesthetics, social issues, and culture. Over the past three decades, he has been a Professor of Philosophy at NCERT.

Former UP CM and Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav was posthumously awarded with Padma Vibhushan.

Pichai accepted Padma Bhushan from India's Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, in San Francisco.

Pallonji Mistry joined his family business in Shapoorji Pallonji Group at the age of 18 and helped in expanding the business to Dubai, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi during the 1970s.

Ahead of Republic Day, the President approved 4 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 107 Padma Shri Awards

The President has approved 141 awards this year which includes 7 Padma Vibhushan, 16 Padma Bhushan and 118 Padma Shri Awards
