Enforcement Directorate seizes Lalu and his family’s under-construction mall

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized an under-construction mall in Patna on Tuesday which was being built by Lalu Prasad Yadav, convicted in the Fodder scam case, and his family. As per reports, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav and Lalu’s daughters, Chanda and Ragini are among the directors of the mall.

Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushi Kumar Modi, had alleged that Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and son of Lalu, had begun construction on the mall without getting clearances from the concerned authorities. Last year, the Union Environmental Ministry had put a halt on the construction of the mall asserting that approval had not been taken from the department for its construction.

Tejashwi Yadav has claimed that they are being unfairly targeted. He said, “There were attacks earlier as well there is nothing new in it, the matter will be clear once it is in the court.” The mall was slated to be the biggest mall in Bihar but the ED has attached the land after halting the construction.

Things haven’t been going well for the RJD with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s conviction in the Fodder Scam and news of rifts between his sons. Its leaders appear to have become paranoid with Tejashwi even claiming that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was trying to poison his food. The party also received a notice from the Income Tax Department for expenses incurred during a flop anti-BJP rally. Tej Pratap Yadav had also received a notice for allegedly claiming false ownership of a land for a petrol pump. Lalu’s daughter and son-in-law have also found themselves embroiled in a land scam.
