Prime Minister Modi while interacting with Senator John Cornyn’s wife yesterday after the ‘Howdy, Modi!’ event in Houston, Texas, apologised to her.

A video with a snippet from the event has been posted by the Prime Minister’s office, wherein PM Modi is seen directly addressing the US Senator, John Cornyn’s wife Sandy, for taking him away on her birthday. Apologising good-naturedly, he wished her a prosperous and peaceful future ahead.

PM Modi, in an amicable gesture, rested his hand on Senator Cornyn’s shoulder and apologised to the senator’s wife, who was celebrating her birthday on Sunday.

“I would like to say sorry because today is your birthday and your great life partner is with me so naturally, you must be jealous today,” Prime Minister Modi said. “Wish you all the best, wish you a happy life and very prosperous peaceful future for you. All the best,” he added.

Cornyn, who is a senator from Texas, was among a number of prominent Republican and Democratic lawmakers who attended the mega “Howdy Modi!” event in Houston on Sunday where Modi shared the stage with President Donald Trump. The mega community summit at the NRG Stadium was completely sold out and more than 50,000 people attended it.

Prime Minister Modi is visiting the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly and a host of other events. Modi received an overwhelming welcome as he walked across the stage in a packed Texas stadium to address the mega community summit on Sunday.
