Mathura Police debunks anti-RSS propaganda being peddled on social media claiming attack on Christians

The police have asserted that based on the complaint filed by Jogendra Singh under various sections, all the accused who were threatening him and his family have been arrested and sent to jail.

A Twitter user who goes by @NotMukerji had yesterday shared a macabre video in which a burned couple was seen being rescued by the local people even as the son was heard wailing in the video. The Twitter user alleged in the post that a Christian couple in Uttar Pradesh was set on fire by “Hindu radicals RSS after they resisted the forcible occupation of their land”.

The post instantly went viral with as many as 5500 retweets as of now and several thousand likes to the post.

However, today morning Mathura Police posted a tweet refuting the allegations made by @NotMukerji in the post. Debunking the claims made by the anonymous Twitter user, Mathura Police rubbished the allegations that the couple was set on fire for opposing the forced occupation and asserted that the news is completely untrue and baseless. The police further clarified that both the sides are Hindu and none of them is a Christian.

Furthermore, the police said that the incident is from August 28, 2019, when a couple-Jogendra Singh and his wife Chandravati along with their son Mohan Singh came to Surir police station and set themselves on fire after pouring petrol over themselves. The police personnel present at the occasion rescued them from the engulfing fire and immediately rushed them to the primary health centre nearby.

It is alleged that the couple had tried to commit suicide in protest against the police inaction on their complaint. The couple had lodged a complaint with the police that they were being harassed by a local influential man, who had illegally occupied their house and was repeatedly threatening them.

The police have asserted that based on the complaint filed by Jogendra Singh under various sections, all the accused who were threatening him and his family have been arrested and sent to jail.

The Mathura police have strongly repudiated the fake news of “Christian Couple being set on fire for opposing appropriation of their land” that is being proliferated by many on social media to give a communal flair to the incident. An unfortunate self-immolation attempt by an aggrieved couple was twisted and distorted by propagandists to further their propaganda of vilifying RSS and Hindus.

The origins of the separate electorate can be traced back to British India, when the foreign regime acquiesced to the demands presented by the Islamists to facilitate their communal agenda. The British Parliament's Indian Councils Act 1909, also referred to as the Morley-Minto Reforms, proposed the creation of distinct electorates for Muslims.
