Agra: Video of Mohammed Yusuf and Mohammed Feroz harrasing scooty riding girl on the road goes viral, arrested

On 19th August, a video from Agra went viral on social media where a girl driving a sccoty was seen getting harassed by motorcyclists. Agra police were informed about the incident after which two accused identified as Mohammed Yusuf and Mohammed Feroz were arrested.

Details of the incident

On 18th August at around 9 PM, the victim was driving from Victoria Park to Belanganj. On the way, her vehicle ran out of fuel. She sought help from three men who were driving a bike. One of them pushed her scooty using his foot to the petrol pump.

On the way to the petrol pump, Yusuf and Feroz came on a bike from behind and started harassing the girl on the scooty. The three men helping the girl tried to shoo them away but they kept following the scooty and used derogatory language. They also tried to cause an accident by swirling the bike in front of the scooty multiple times. Meanwhile, traffic police constable Rajiv Kumar saw the incident and tried to stop Yusuf and Feroz. As Rajiv was in civil clothes, the men did not realise he was a police personnel and threatened him to go away.

Constable Rajiv sensed the urgency and rushed to the Belanganj police station. He informed the officials about the incident. A road blockade was created and both culprits were apprehended by the police. Chatta ASP Hemant Kumar said in a statement that Yusuf is a resident of Gudri Masoor Khan and Feroz is a resident of Heeng Mandi.

The girl refused to file a complaint in the matter as her wedding is scheduled in a few days. She did not want to get into a legal hassle. She was contacted by the police on 19th August. Police officials again requested her to file a complaint but she refused to do so. Hence, the complaint was filed on the complaint of Sub Inspector Prachi Chaudhary of the anti-Romeo squad at Chatta Police Station under Section 296 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Both of them were presented at the court and sent to custody.
