Authorities have recovered fake Aadhar cards from “illegal Myanmar Muslim immigrants” in Manipur as reported by the state’s Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren:

As seen above, CM Biren claimed that apart from “illegal Myanmar Muslims” an individual from Chennai too was caught with fake Aadhar cards. This as per him was not a one-off case, and earlier Rohingyas had been arrested with fake documents in the town of Moreh.
Owing to such arrests, the CM, as a result, sought the immediate attention of PM Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, BJP’s National General Secretary Ram Madhav among others.
Times of India too reported on Tuesday that the Manipur police had arrested 10 individuals in connection with two fake Aadhar card manufacturing rackets which were operating in the towns of Moreh and Jiribam. Out of those arrested, nine are believed to be illegal immigrants belonging to Myanmar and another arrested is Paritha Begum – the wife of certain Mohammed Mohideen, who hails from Tamil Nadu.
The arrest in Moreh was made on Sunday following a tip-off received by SP (Tengnoupal), which led to the interception of two vehicles. The police later conducted an inquiry and raided the house of Md Tomba, thereby seizing two laptops, four Aadhar cards, printer, lamination machine, among other goods.
As a result of these arrests, CM Biren has decided to set up a special check post in the Imphal airport to catch illegal immigrants.
Incidentally, another North-Eastern state of Tripura too has had to grapple with the menace of fake Aadhar cards. We had reported how, 24 Bangladeshi youth with suspected terror links were arrested in the state on 10 May, all of whom were reported to be carrying fake Aadhar card.
