Wearing Hindu religious symbols like kumkum and sacred thread could get kids expelled in Kerala school

In a shocking incident reported by Mirror Now, the principal of the government school of Palakkad district of Kerala has issued a diktat, threatening the students with expulsion if they are found to be using religious symbols like kumkum on their foreheads or sacred threads on their wrists.

This bizarre bigotry by the Kerala principal has stunned the parents of the students. The principal has also told the parents of the students that a student attending school with any religious symbols attached will not be tolerated by the school authority.

This communal decision is opposed by most of the parents, who says that government schools cannot issue such type of diktats. The parents have also accused the principal of repeated behaviour and complained that the principal issues such controversial orders often. This time it has crossed the entire threshold when he issued the diktat of threatening the kids from termination and also to the circular in the parent-teacher meeting held in the school recently.

Earlier, a government school run by an evangelical Christian effected an order on girl students not to wear flowers and bindi.

While AAP has claimed credit for Punjab’s rise in the education sector, the timeline suggests the state’s improvement may have begun before the party came to power in 2022. The AAP government was sworn in in March 2022. But some key surveys or studies have cited the data prior to 2022. It raises the question: Does the AAP government deserve the actual credit, or are they riding on someone else's work?
