On 31st July, a Muslim mob in Nuh of Mewat, Haryana, attacked thousands of Hindu devotees attending the Jalabhishek Yatra on Shravan Somvar. OpIndia accessed several FIRs registered in the case. This is a consolidated list of 7 FIRs revealing how rioters targeted police during Nuh violence.

Home guards Neeraj and Gursev succumbed to injuries

FIR was registered on the complaint of Inspector Ajay Kumar under Sections 147, 148, 149, 186, 342, 332, 353, 307, 302, 379B, 120B, 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25 of Arms Act. Inspector Ajay is posted as in charge at Khaddauli, Gurugram.

In his complaint, Inspector Ajay said he was posted in Nuh to maintain law and order during the Yatra. SI Devendra, PSI Arun, head constable Shera, constable Pawan Kumar, HGH Neeraj and HSH Gurdev joined him for the duty under DCP Manveer Singh, Manesar. IMT Police Station, Manesar in-charge inspector Devendra, Bilaspur Police Station in-charge Inspector Rahul Dev and Manesar QRT Team also joined them.

When they reached Cyber Police Station Nuh, a large number of rioters attacked them. They had deadly weapons in their hands. The rioters used large stones to block the roads and pelted stones at the police personnel. They also opened fire at the police personnel to kill them. Meanwhile, SI Ajay’s vehicle flipped due to the stones on the road.

The rioters attacked the police personnel using sticks, batons, rods and stones. They snatched mobile phones and wallets from the police personnel. They had to fire several shots in the air to save themselves.

Home guard Neeraj and home guard Gursev succumbed to their injuries. Constable Pawan, head constable Shersingh, SI Devendra and PSI Arun sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the general hospital Sohana for treatment.

Rioters attacked police while chanting Allah-Hu-Akbar

FIR was registered on the complaint of Inspector Pankaj Kumar under Sections 148, 149, 332, 353, 186, 307, and 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Inspector Kumar is posted as in-charge Crime Branch Sector 39, Gurugram.

In his complaint, Inspector Kumar said he was in Nuh on the instructions of his senior official. Constables Pokar Ram, Sandeep, Sanjay, Vikram and Gaurishankar were with him. They were posted at Adbar Crossing, Nug.

Inspector Anil Kumar of Sector 40 Crime Branch, Gurugram, was also posted at the same location with his associates.

A 600-700 strong mob of rioters charged at them from Tavadu while raising slogans of Allah-Hu-Akbar. They started pelting stones and opened fire using illegal weapons at the police personnel. Inspector Kumar and Inspector Anil made announcements requesting them to maintain peace, but they continued pelting stones and shooting at the police personnel. The rioters had stones, sticks, batons, bricks and illegal weapons in their hands.

One of the bullets hit Inspector Anil Kumar in the stomach, and he fell down. His associate ASI Jagbir Singh also sustained injuries due to stone pelting. SI Sanjay and other police personnel rushed them to the hospital. Meanwhile, Inspector Kumar and his colleagues used their government-allotted weapons, including AK47, to fire shots in the air to disperse the mob. He added that he could recognise the rioters. 

Rioters opened fire at police personnel to kill them

FIR was registered on the complaint of Constable Ravinder under Sections 148, 149, 332, 353, 186, 307, and 435 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Ravinder is posted as a driver at the Nuh City police station. In his complaint, he was posted at Jhanda Park, Nuh, with Inspector Ombir Singh of Nuh City Police Station to maintain law and order during Mewat Religious Jalabhishek Yatra.

When Yatra reached Jhanda Park, around 600-700 rioters of one community attacked the devotees and police personnel intending to cause fatal injuries. They had stones, sticks, batons and illegal weapons in their hands. The rioters were creating hurdles on the path of Yatra towards the Nuh Bus Stand on Alwar-Sohna Road.

Constable Ravinder, Inspector Ombir and other police personnel rushed to Gau Shala Road, Nuh and parked their vehicles on the side of the road. They went out to control the mob while Ravinder and an SI stayed inside the vehicle. Suddenly, the mob attacked the vehicle with sticks and batons. They pelted stones at the police van and fired shots using illegal weapons. SI opened fire using his govt allowed pistol at the rioters to save himself. The rioters then set the van on fire, intending to kill Ravinder.

Some of the rioters have been identified as Rizwan, Naeem, Shoukeen, Sarfaraz, Taufeeq, Irshad, Niwasiyan, and others.

Rioters of the Meo Muslim community attacked devotees and police personnel

FIR was registered on the complaint of SI Anil Kumar under Sections 148, 149, 435, 295A, and 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Inspector Kumar is posted as Sub-Inspector at Intelligence Department, Revadi.

In his complaint, SI Anil Kumar said he was with Police Officer Dinesh Yadav and Reader Babu Lal for duty at Mewat Religious Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh. When the Yatra passed through Jhanda Chowk, around 500-600 rioters who belonged to the Meo Muslim community attacked the devotees and police personnel. They had batons, sticks, stones and illegal weapons in their hands.

Police Officer Dinesh Yadav went down from the vehicle to calm the rioters, and SI Anil sat inside the car. Suddenly, they attacked the vehicle with stones, batons and sticks. SI Anil somehow managed to leave the van and save himself from the rioters.

Rioters burnt down a police vehicle

FIR was registered on the complaint of  Constable Bijendra Kumar under Sections 148, 149, 435, 295A, 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Constable Bijendra is posted at Intelligence Department Narnaul. He was posted at Nuh to maintain law and order during Mewat Religious Kajabhishek Yatra.

He was going towards the bus stand with Inspector Vishwajeet on Delhi-Alwar Road, Nuh, when 500-600 rioters started attacking vehicles and burnt them down. Inspector Vishwajeet went down the vehicle to alleviate the situation, but the rioters attacked their vehicle with sticks, batons and stones. Bijendra somehow managed to leave the van and save himself before the rioters burnt the vehicle.

Rioters attacked female police personnel

FIR was registered on the complaint of Constable Ramendra Singh under Sections 148, 149, 332, 353, 186, 307, and 435 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25 of the Arms Act. He is posted as a driver at Women ERV Durga Shakti, Nuh.

Khalid, Saakeer, Abraar, Sameeri, Badruddin, Aarif, Moen, Zishan, Ashfaq, Shahrukh, Sarfuddin and Niiyum were named as accused in FIR.

In his complaint, Constable Singh said he was on routine patrol with woman constable Pinki and staff in charge Anjuman at Maalab Polytechnique College.

When they noticed rioters charging at them from Maalab village, they took their vehicle and started moving towards Nuh City. At the old bus stand, around 700-800 rioters surrounded them with an aim to kill. They started pelting stones and opened fire at them. They somehow managed to leave the vehicle and rushed to safety. Constable Ramendra was injured during the attack. The rioters burnt their vehicles. There were important files and equipment in the vehicle that got destroyed in the fire.

FIR was registered on the complaint of  Constable Neeraj under Sections 148, 149, 332, 353, 186, 307, and 435 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 25 of the Arms Act. Fakruddin, Subeddin, Nasir, Mohammad Mustafa, Aalim and Aakib were named as accused in the FIR. Constable Neeraj is posted as CS Staff, Tauru. He was stationed at Nuh to maintain law and order during the Yatra with sub-inspector Kanwarpal, head constable Hari Prem and home guard Haasam Khan.

In his complaint, Constable Neeraj said when they reached the old bus stand, around 500-600 rioters from one community attacked the devotees and police personnel. They had stones, batons, sticks and illegal weapons in their hands. When SI Kanwarpal got out of the vehicle and tried to stop them, the rioters started pelting stones at their vehicle. Constable Neeraj was inside the vehicle at that time.

Rioters started shooting at the vehicle to kill the police personnel. While he managed to save himself, rioters burnt down the vehicle.

Maharashtra: Deputy CM Fadnavis to speak to DGP to create a standard operating procedure for police stations for cases of love jihad

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that will speak to the director general of police (DGP) to create a standard operation procedure (SOP) for police stations on love jihad cases. He said that the state is studying love jihad laws in other states to assess the applicability of the same in Maharashtra, as per a report in the Times of India.

“To sensitize police stations to deal with such cases, an SOP needs to be formed. If timely action is taken, tensions within the communities can be avoided,” Fadnavis said. He also added that action will be taken against policemen involved if timely action is not taken in cases of love jihad.

On 2nd July, the deputy CM had also said that psychological help would be provided by the state to the victims of love jihad. In June, Fadnavis said that investigations into missing person complaints had led to the unearthing of a large number of Love Jihad cases in the state.

During a media interaction in Mumbai in June, Fadnavis said that his government is sensitive about the missing person complaints adding that “the detection rate in such cases was 90 to 95 percent in the state. Still, I agree that more efforts are required to stop the exploitation of innocent girls.”

The Maharashtra Home Minister had further stated that there is nothing objectionable in interfaith marriages, however, many cases have surfaced wherein women have been misled and lured with false promises by either married men or those belonging to the ‘other’ faith and subjected to love jihad. He also reiterated his government’s commitment to tackle the surging cases of love jihad and exploitation of women in the state.

In March this year, during the budget session, Devendra Fadnavis said that the Maharashtra government is studying the laws introduced by various states in this respect. He had said back then that information would be gathered from the various states that had already passed anti-conversion laws.

Notably, many BJP-led governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Haryana, have constituted laws against ‘Love Jihad’ in their respective states to tackle the problem of forced and illegal conversions of Hindus at the hands of their Muslim partners.

Rajasthan: Charred remains of a missing minor girl found burning in a brick kiln in Bhilwara, police suspect rape and murder

In the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, remains of a minor girl’s burned body had been found on Thursday, August 3rd in a brick kiln. The horrific incident has caused immense outrage and has sent shockwaves across the state. The police suspect that the girl was gang raped.

The girl’s body was discovered early this morning, which led to the discovery of the crime. According to reports, a 14-year-old girl from Narsinghpura village in the Girdiya Panchayat region of the Shahpura district went to graze goats on Wednesday along with her mother. The girl somehow was separated from her mother and could not be found.

The deceased girl’s family and the locals spread out to look for her when she didn’t arrive home till the evening. The family and the villagers rushed to the police to file a missing person report after they were unable to locate the girl, however, the police did not file a case, as per reports.

The girl’s bones were also discovered in a brick kiln in a field next to her home on Thursday morning after the locals searched for her again. The girl’s hand, silver anklet (some reports say bangle), and shoes were found burning in the brick kiln.

The police suspect that the girl was gang-raped before being charred to death. Three persons who were apprehended there have been arrested and are currently being interrogated.

At the scene, hundreds of irate people protested, calling for justice and prompt arrests. They claimed that the police requested her ID and birth certificate after responding tardily to their complaint about the girl going missing on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Senior BJP leader and President of Rajasthan Gurjar Mahasabha Kalu Lal Gurjar, Deputy District Chief Shankar Lal Gurjar also arrived at the spot.

BJP youth leader Vikram Goud to Twitter to slam the Congress government over its failure in ensuring women’s safety in the state, “Tragic! In Rajasthan, a minor girl was brutally raped and thrown in a brick kiln. Locals recovered her burnt body. Women’s safety in Rajasthan under Congress rule has become a joke,” Goud tweeted.

Meanwhile, Bhilwara Police informed that teams have been formed to arrest the accused persons.

Push for Make in India: Government restricts imports of laptops, tablets, and computers in a bid to boost local manufacturing

According to a notice from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, the central government on Thursday, August 3, restricted imports of laptops, tablets, and personal computers under HSN 8471 with immediate effect in a move intended to boost domestic production.

The notice stated, “Import of laptops, tablets, all-in-one personal computers, and ultra-small form factor computers and servers falling under HSN 8741 shall be restricted and their import would be allowed against a valid licence for restricted imports.”

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry informed, “The said restriction shall not be applicable to imports under baggage rules, as amended from time to time. Exemption from import licensing requirements is provided for the import of 1 laptop, tablet, all-in-one personal computer or ultra-small form factor computer, including those purchased from e-commerce portals through post or courier.”

Passengers who have the aforementioned devices in their luggage will not be subject to the restriction. The decision is likely meant to promote local manufacturing in India. The government also underlined that imports must be subject to paying any appropriate duties.

The exemption from the licensing is offered for up to 20 of certain items per consignment for R&D (Research and Development), Testing, Benchmarking and evaluation repair and re-export, and product development reasons, as specified by the administration.

The ministry added, “Given imports shall be allowed subject to the condition that the imported goods shall be used for the stated purposes only and will not be sold. Further, after the intended purpose, the products would either be destroyed beyond use or re-exported.”

India has offered multiple incentives to businesses in the last few years in an effort to increase domestic output. A wide range of smartphone manufacturers have joined the campaign and now chipmakers and semiconductor producers are starting to make in India.

The $2 billion programme was introduced in May by the Narendra Modi administration to support indigenous manufacturers of gear including laptops, PCs, servers and related edge computing equipment. The plan was an improvement on the prior initiative, for which the government was prepared to pay $892 million.

Reacting to the development, Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of the Indian Cellular and Electronics Association, remarked, “This policy announcement seems to be based on the premise of providing secure digital access to the burgeoning number of digital citizens in the country.  We are confident that valid licenses will be provided to trusted industry partners which will enable Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and unrestricted access to trusted brands for digital consumers.”

Ghaziabad: 23-year-old woman abuses and assaults a 79-year-old man with a stick over feeding stray dogs

A 79-year-old man was harassed and beaten by a 23-year-old woman from a high-rise neighbourhood in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh after he urged her to feed a stray dog someplace else. The incident occurred at Panchsheel Society in the Crossing Republic. A video of the occurrence that shows Simran striking Roopnarayan Mehra with a stick and verbally assaulting him went viral on social media.

The incident took place on Tuesday, 1st August, at Panchseel Tower in Crossings Republik Township in Ghaziabad, when the man objected to the woman feeding stray dogs in the common area. In the video, the woman can be arguing with the man and hitting him with a stick in the presence of two other men who were trying to stop her but later gave up. A woman who was probable making the video commented that nobody was doing anything to save the man, calling her a ‘pagal aurat’ (mad woman).

The Assistant Commissioner of Police Saloni Agarwal stated that a case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the elderly individual. “The video is from the Panchsheel Society near the Crossing Republic. In the video, a 79-year-old man is being assaulted by a woman. The investigation is ongoing, and appropriate action is being taken. The case pertains to the feeding of street dogs.”

The footage was brought to the police’s notice after which action was taken and further inquiry is underway. Notably, there have been several dog-biting instances in the past couple of months in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) which have resulted in several fatalities and numerous injuries.

A seven-year-old was playing and a pet pitbull pounced on him, biting off his ear and leaving serious wounds on his posterior area in June at Crossings Republik township. Locals demonstrated outside a police station after the shocking episode and demanded action.

An earlier episode took place in May when a woman who resided in Brahmaputra Apartments at Noida’s sector 29 suffered a bite by the pet dog of a retired army major following which a complaint was launched against the former officer.

It is important to mention that reports of stray dog attacks are quite prevalent and come from all around the country. The most common targets of these assaults are women, children and old people.

Islamists viciously attacked hundreds of Hindu pilgrims on July 31 during the Jalabhishek Yatra on Shravan Somvar in Haryana’s Nuh district. Despite knowing that more than 80 per cent of those who perished in the Nuh violence are Hindus, the typical coterie of leftist liberals and Islamists, as well as their apologists, have been constantly at work to whitewash the attack and portray Muslims as the victims.

Some of these esteemed members of the anti-Hindu brigade went as far as using a half-unfinished statement of the priest of the Nalhar Temple, where thousands of Hindus took refuge to save themselves from the planned Islamist onslaught, to propagate their narrative.

They shared a 20-second clip from an interview wherein Deepak Sharma, the Nalhar Mahadev temple priest, could be heard saying that nothing happened in and around the temple. On the basis of this statement of the priest, the leftist media started concocting a web of lies, insinuating that the rioters did not attack the temple nor were the Hindus held hostage.

Notably, after the Islamist violence took place in Nuh, the leftist media portal Lallantop interviewed Deepak Sharma. In the video, which has garnered around 90 thousand views, the priest can be heard saying, “Nothing happened inside the temple. Whatever happened, it was about 1 to 1.5 km away from the temple.”

As soon as the interview was released, several members of the leftist brigade descended on Twitter and began sharing a 21-second clip from this interview to whitewash the Islamist attack.

Alt News’ co-founder Mohammed Zubair, who dog-whistled Islamists against Nupur Sharma by sharing an incomplete video of her comments on Prophet Muhammad, also retweeted the 21-second clip from a Lallantop report.

The leftist news portal, The Wire grabbed the opportunity with both hands. It published a report on August 1, 2023, where it used Deepak Sharma’s statement to insinuate that the Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij lied when he asserted that around 3,000 to 4,000 people were held hostage by Muslim rioters at the Nalhar Mahadev temple.

Even while the leftist media and Islamist apologists continue to use the Nuh violence to portray Muslims as the victims instead of the Hindus, which is in conformity with their usual trope to shield Muslims and paint Hindus as the aggressors, the dilemma here is: Can a 21-second clip chosen from in-between an interview explain the priest’s complete argument? Did the left-wing media purposely cherrypick this particular segment of the interview because it suited their narrative so effectively?

To answer these questions and know the truth behind the 21-second propaganda video, OpIndia spoke to Deepak Sharma, the Nalhar Mahadev temple priest. In the conversation which lasted for about 30 minutes, Deepak Sharma, who is originally a native of Punjab, told us that he had been looking after the Nalhar Mahadev Temple in Nuh for the last two and a half years.

When we asked him about the clip that has been going viral, he said that statement is being misconstrued and misrepresented and that he in no way denied the occurrence of the violence. Explaining what he had intended to convey, Deepak said that he meant that he did not witness the incident with his own eyes as he did not come out during the attack as the administration asked them not to. He added to have listened to loud noises from inside and sensed palpable fear among the Hindu devotees.

Deepak Sharma further said that everything was normal until 2 o’clock in the afternoon, but suddenly after that, everything became chaotic.

The Nalhar temple priest further told us that there were CCTV cameras placed in the entire temple premises, however, only the CCTV placed in the sanctum sanctorum area of the temple in working. In other areas, cameras and cables malfunctioned due to bad weather.

He also voiced concern that some people might be exploiting his name for political purposes. Deepak Sharma added that he feels someone is trying to trap him.

When we questioned him about the viral footage of the injured in the temple, Deepak Sharma said that it was not possible for him to examine every area of the temple. He added that since the internet has been suspended in Nuh it was not possible for him to acquire the viral videos of the violence that took place inside the temple otherwise he could have examined those and clarified.

Sharma acknowledged hearing loud sounds of bullets being fired from the hills surrounding the temple on three sides.

The conversation OpIndia had with Deepak Sharma made it evidently clear that the left-liberal media used a half-unfinished statement of the priest, who did not come outside the temple at all when the violence took place, to propagate their narrative.

Moreover, a 21-second video cannot show the extent of the anti-Hindu riots that were unleashed by the radical Muslim mob in Nuh, Haryana.

Nevertheless, in the video where the Lallantop reporter shared the extent of the damage, he categorically said the attack appeared pre-planned. The likes of Zubair and The Wire, however, appeared to have missed the point completely in a hurry to save the Islamic mob that pelted stones and fired on Hindu devotees.

Meanwhile, the situation is currently returning to normal as paramilitary ITBP personnel are stationed in and around the Nalhar temple in Nuh, Haryana.

A day after former Rajasthan Minister Rajendra Gudha held a press conference and shared some specifics from the ‘Red Diary’ that allegedly contains details of CM Ashok Gehlot’s illegal financial transactions, Rajasthan police arrived at the sacked minister’s house to investigate an alleged POCSO Act case against him. However, Rajendra Gudha was not present at his residence at that time.

Although the police said that they had come to question Rajendra Gudha in connection with the said POCSO case, they did not share any specifics of the case against the sacked minister. 

The timing of police action raises questions as Rajendra Gudha, a former minister in Ashok Gehlot’s cabinet has been vocal against his own government on various issues like the safety of women and corruption. 

Rajendra Gudha held a press conference on Wednesday, August 2nd, where he read three pages from a red diary and disclosed details to the media about CM Gehlot, his and his accomplices’ alleged corrupt dealings. He said that these pages make evident the financial transactions and corruption-related information of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA). These allegedly authentic papers contain an alleged conversation between the Chairman of the Tourism Development Corporation Dharmendra Rathore and OSD Saubhag Singh of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. 

The “Red Diary” controversy started on July 24 when Gudha, an MLA from the Udaipurwati assembly constituency, waved it in the house following his ouster as a state minister for criticising the state government’s failures in protecting women. He carried the diary and approached the assembly speaker. He was expelled from the House for the duration of the entire session after the incident. 

Speaking in the assembly, Gudha had said that it should be accepted that the state government “failed” in women’s safety.

“It is true and should be accepted that we have failed in women’s safety. Instead of Manipur, we should look within ourselves why atrocities on women have increased in Rajasthan,” Gudha said.

US: Indian-American engineer files lawsuit for discrimination after getting fired for speaking in Hindi during personal call with dying relative

An Indian-American engineer working with a missile defence contractor in the United States was fired from his long-time job after one of his colleagues heard him speaking in Hindi. Anil Varshney was talking to his dying relative in India over a video call when a colleague heard him using his native language.

Varshney was working as a senior systems engineer with Huntsville missile defence contractor Parsons Corporation located in Alabama. He has since filed a federal lawsuit and charged that systemic discrimination contributed to his termination from his position in October of last year.

Anil Varshney received a video call from his elderly brother-in-law KC Gupta, who was close to death, on 26 September 2022 and wanted to bid him farewell. Varshney moved into an open cubicle and took the call aware of the bitter reality that he might never speak to the latter again. In accordance with the lawsuit, he made sure there were no classified items or work-related information from his employer or the Missile Defence Agency (MDA) close by before taking the call.

The two only had a two-minute conversation in Hindi on a video chat, per the petition, which was filed in June in the northern district of Alabama. He, however, was interrupted by another employee who questioned him about the conversation and instantly ended it after learning from him that video calls were not allowed. Unfortunately, this turned out to be his last conversation with his relative before he passed away.

The lawsuit stated that Anil Varshney “scared” his colleague because he couldn’t understand what the former was communicating. The coworker then “falsely and intentionally” reported the incident to the police, accusing the man of breaching security by either disclosing confidential information during the call or accepting the call while in the presence of confidential information or taking the call during a private meeting.

It affirmed, “Despite there being no policy prohibiting the call, and without any investigation, the defendants claimed Anil Varshney committed a serious security violation and fired him. Worse, they blackballed him from future (Missile Defence Agency) work, effectively ending his career and life of service to MDA and the US government.”

It further added, “There was no confidential or classified information anywhere near the call. The cubicle where Mr Varshney accepted the video call was completely empty with no office material or wall hangings in the cubicle, and there was no confidential information being exchanged nearby.”

Notably, Varshney was earlier honoured as the “Contractor of the Year” in systems engineering for his efforts to save USD 5 million on the ground-based missile defence programme. He provided engineering support for the creation of layered, integrated missile defence systems that protect partner troops of the United States and its allies against ballistic missile threats.

The lawsuit asserted that he wanted his privileges restored, his reinstatement to a position “comparable to his former position” and the cancellation (or removal) of any disciplinary records in his file. He demanded “front pay including benefits” if he is not reappointed to his previous position level. In addition, he sought attorneys’ expenses, punitive and liquidated damages and compensatory losses for “mental anguish and emotional distress.”

The violence against Hindus at Nuh, Mewat, has become a flashpoint for those who sympathise with the Islamists, in the media and otherwise. There has been a concerted attempt to whitewash the violence unleashed by Muslim mobs on the 31st of July against the Jalabhishek Shobha Yatra organised by VHP, in which thousands of Hindus participated. One of the most prominent tropes to shield the Islamists and their Leftists ideological is trying to paint a target on the back of Monu Manesar and blame him for the violence when he was not even present at the Yatra.

Right after violence broke out in Nuh with Hindus coming under attack, there was fake news being spread by Islamists that the violence broke out because Monu Manesar was present at the Shobha Yatra. OpIndia did a detailed fact check and found that many Islamists and Leftists were using an old video of Manesar to falsely claim that he was present at the Shobha Yatra.

Besides the dangerous fake news, it is also pertinent to note that even if Manesar was present, using that to legitimise mass-scale violence against thousands of Hindus only proves how committed the Islamists are to dehumanising Hindus. Unless allegations are proven against Manesar and he is arrested by the police, it is pertinent to note that there is no arrest warrant against him or a red corner notice. As such, he is as free to release a video or attend a rally if he so chooses. If the police believe he is guilty and has evidence to tie him to a crime, they should be arresting him. However, for the media to use a video by him to justify the violence by thousands of Islamists, armed to the teeth, against thousands of Hindu devotees only proves that Monu Manesar is merely an excuse. The Muslim mob unleashed violence in a pre-planned manner (as proven by media reports, an OpIndia investigation and even police investigation details that are now emerging). The rioters had weapons, swords, trucks of stones, knives, acid bottles, petrol bombs and more in their possession. They even took anywhere between 2000-2500 Hindus hostage in a Temple and murdered at least 5 Hindus. All of this is being justified because of a video by Monu Manesar, a man who was not even there at the Shobha Yatra and whose alleged role in the murder of two Muslim men has not even been proven yet.

Essentially, the ecosystem has claimed that Monu Manesar was involved in the murder of two Muslim men. The police are “yet to pinpoint his role” in the murders, mentioned in several reports, even reports from Leftist portals. With his role unproven, the Leftists are basically saying that simply because there are allegations against him, he has no right to say what he wants or go where he wants, to a point where if he does, then a Muslim mob can legitimately unleash violence against thousands of Hindus – even kill a few and desecrate temples.

This trope was furthered by several individuals in the media. Their sleigh of hand was obvious because they constantly harped about the violence in Gurgaon, however, failed to mention that the violence started when a Muslim mob attacked thousands of Hindu devotees for hours, pelted stones, burnt cars, held Hindus hostage, molested women, murdered some devotees, shot at them, stabbed them, slit their throat and ram rampage.

One of the proponents who furthered this dishonest trope was Ravish Kumar – a veteran propagandist of television media turned newbie propagandist YouTuber. In his inimitably annoying and dishonest style, Ravish Kumar released a video on his YouTube channel where he attempted to shame Hindus into not essentially “doing something” about Monu Manesar. In a strange video, he claimed that Gurgaon was an affluent neighbourhood and those who live in high-rise buildings are closing their eyes to the dangers of people like Monu Manesar. Further, he released a song. Yes. A song. Called “Monu Monu”.

While this tone-deaf attempt to shame Hindus after a Muslim mob went on a murderous rampage against thousands of devotees and desecrated temples was hilarious, and was summarily mocked on social media, there was one line in this pool of asininity that deserves attention.

After the “They are Monu, You are Monu” nonsense, Ravish Kumar says, “Find out Monu, Flush out Monu”. The phrase “Flush out” essentially means to ensure someone is drawn out of their hiding place, often, in common parlance, used during hunting when animals need to be flushed out to be killed.

Interestingly, The phrase ‘flush out’ is commonly used in discussions of police investigations and wartime strategies. The metaphor originates from bird hunting, where it is common to use a hunting dog to draw out birds from hiding, in order to hunt them and kill them.

It is pertinent to note that Ravish Kumar used this phrase after blaming Monu Manesar for the violence that had gripped certain parts of Haryana. The gist of what he said whitewashes the crimes of the Muslim mob, essentially holding Monu Manesar responsible for the violence unleashed by the Muslim mob. After that, when he uses the term “flush out Monu”, it would directly mean that the rioters should continue doing what they are doing because that is how Monu Manesar would be “drawn out in the open” for a hunt.

The use of the sentence, “Find out Monu, Flush out Monu” could, therefore, essentially mean that he is telling the rioters to either “find him” or ensure that they “draw him out” – both would essentially lead to him being hunted down.

This would qualify as a direct call to action by Ravish Kumar. Pertinently, this is not the first time that he has blamed Hindus for violence committed by Islamists. Ravish was one of the frontrunners in calling the Delhi anti-Hindu riots an ‘anti-Muslim pogrom”. He had convinced himself of his lies to such an extent, that shooter Shahrukh Pathan, who was captured in a photograph drawing a weapon at a police constable, was named “Anurag” by Ravish on national television.

In his show ‘Prime Time’ on 26th February 2020, Ravish Kumar resorted to spreading half-truths and full lies about the horrifying spate of violence that had engulfed the national capital. In pursuance of what appeared as his agenda to tarnish Hindus and portray them as the aggressors of the riots, Kumar identified Mohammad Shahrukh alias Shahrukh Pathan, who fired at Delhi Police personnel on February 24, as one ‘Anurag Mishra’.

For the 26th February 2020 show, Ravish claimed that police had not yet arrested him while he was arrested on 25th February itself, good 24 hours before his show premiered. “Police ki haalat yeh hai ki abhi tak giraftar nahin hua hai. Police saaf kehti hai ki Shahrukh hai magar aap social media mein dekhiye Anurag Mishra bataya jaa raha hai. (Situation of the Police is such that they have not yet arrested him. Police say his name is Shahrukh but if you see him on social media, he is called Anurag Mishra),” he spoke in his characteristic drawl during the show. Naturally, it was quite a revelation since no one had yet referred to the shooter as “Anurag Mishra” till then.

He then asked Delhi Police to speak out on his identity again. He then played an undated speech of his reporter who appeared to be asking Delhi Police personnel about Shahrukh’s arrest. Slyly, Ravish Kumar then played the videos of BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Kapil Mishra and Pravesh Verma addressing rallies ahead of the Delhi elections to cast aspersions that their speeches were responsible for stoking riots a month later.

Phrases, words and sentences used often have a socio-political context. For example, “Final solution” is an innocuous phrase, however, it will, forever, be attached to Hitler and his genocide of innocent Jews. Similarly, after whitewashing the crimes of Islamists and blaming Hindus for their own persecution, when Ravish Kumar wants Islamists to “Find out, Flush out” Monu Manesar, it is not a far-fetched deduction that he is asking for Monu Manesar to be hunted. If Monu Manesar is guilty, he should be dealt with in accordance with the law, but those who sit in judgement of the morality of others calling for violence against a man simply because he fights to save cows is a travesty that deserves to be called out.

NGT forms joint committee to probe alleged illegal mining by Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has formed a Joint Committee to verify the factual position and take appropriate remedial action on allegations of illegal mining by BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district.

The NGT formed a panel to investigate allegations made by Raja Ram Singh who claimed that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a Member of Parliament from Kesar Ganj, was involved in illegal mining in villages such as Majharath, Jaitpur, and Nawabganj in Tehsil Tarbganj and District Gonda. Singh also alleged that over 700 overloaded trucks were used every day for the illegal transportation, storage, and sale of about 20 lakh cubic meters of minor minerals. Additionally, he claimed that the Patpar Ganj Bridge and Road were damaged by these overloaded trucks. The bench of Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi (Judicial member) and Dr A Senthil Vel (Expert Member) on August 2, said that “Prima facie, the averments made in the application raise questions relating to the environment arising out of the implementation of the enactments specified in Schedule I to the National Green Tribunal Act, 2010.”

The bench said that “in view of the averments made in the application, we consider it appropriate that a Joint Committee be constituted to verify the factual position and take appropriate remedial action.”

The NGT seeks a factual and Action taken Report to be submitted within two months, while fixing the matter for the next hearing on November 7, 2023.

“Accordingly, we constitute a Joint Committee comprising the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) and District Magistrate, Gonda and direct the same to meet within one week,” NGT bench said.

The NGT also directed the Committee to visit the site, look into the grievances of the applicant, associate with the applicant and a representative of the concerned project proponent, verify the factual position, and take appropriate remedial action by following the due course of law and giving the project proponent the opportunity to be heard.

“The Committee may particularly clarify compliance with Sustainable Sand Mining Management Guidelines, 2016 and Enforcement and Monitoring Guidelines for Sand Mining, 2020, including remediation/rehabilitation of mined areas and damage caused to the river Saryu,” said the NGT bench.
