Uttar Pradesh: Muslim woman alleges her husband allowed his brother and other men to sexually exploit her, threatens to convert to Hinduism if justice is not done

On Friday, the Uttar Pradesh Police registered a police complaint against a man named Alisher and his brother for sexually assaulting Alisher’s wife in the midst of her heavy pregnancy months. Alisher also allegedly sold her during her pregnancy to several customers for temporary sexual favours in exchange for money.

The Muslim woman has appealed to UP Yogi Adityanath for action in the matter and said that if she does not get justice, she will leave Islam and convert to Hinduism. The woman alleged that she was sexually exploited by her husband’s brother and many other men.

According to the reports, the incident is from the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The woman reached the office of Muzaffarnagar SSP to file a complaint against her husband and demanded action against him. She mentioned in the complaint that she was mentally tortured and physically assaulted by her husband Alisher and his brother. The duo raped the woman during her pregnancy and also allowed other men to sexually exploit her in exchange for money.

She also said that her husband used to abuse and assault her for refusing to sleep with other men. Reports mention that the woman filed a complaint against her husband at the local police station but was not paid attention to. After that, she reached the Muzaffarnagar SSP office with the complaint.

The woman accordingly has asked state CM Yogi Adityanath and PM Narendra Modi to look into the matter and has demanded justice. She further said that if the police do not take legal action against her husband, then she will leave Islam and convert to Hinduism. The Police have now registered the case and started investigating the matter based on the complaint.

As per the reports, the woman, a resident of Bijnaur in Afzalgad got married to Alisher, a resident of Kakrauli in Muzzafarnagar five years ago. Her husband Alisher is a quack doctor. Alisher and his brother have been mentally torturing and sexually harassing the woman since her marriage. They used to beat her if she refused. The torture crossed the limits when her husband started to invite other men to have sex with her for money, that too during her pregnancy. When she protested, her husband and brother-in-law attacked her with a knife and injured her neck and hand.

The 9-month pregnant woman met SP city Satyanarayan Singh and demanded justice in the case. She said that she would either commit suicide or convert her religion to Hinduism if she is not heard and assured justice. Commenting on the matter, Singh said that her complaint has been registered at the local police station and that investigation into the case is underway. He said that the woman has also complained of domestic violence and dowry against her in-laws.

‘Troubled to see Rahul Gandhi drooling over China’: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar slams Rahul Gandhi over his Cambridge speech

On Saturday, March 17, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi saying that it was troubling as a citizen to see somebody ‘drooling over China’. This comes days after Rahul Gandhi said that the EAM does not understand the threat posed by China to India.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave in New Delhi, EAM Jaishankar said, “I followed what all Rahul Gandhi said when he was in the UK, a lot of it was politics, so I am keeping that aside as there is some discount when it comes to politics. I am troubled as a citizen of India to see someone drooling over China and being dismissive about India.”

EAM Jaishankar also pointed out the ‘description’ used by Rahul Gandhi for China in his Cambridge remarks. “He puts his suo motu description of China in the Cambridge talk, you know harmony is the word that comes to his mind while talking about China. His one-word description of China is harmony and for India it is discord.

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that India is “afraid of China,” Jaishankar said, “Rahul Gandhi talks admiringly of China. He says China is the greatest manufacturer and says ‘Make In India’ won’t work. When you make Covaxin, the Congress party says Covaxin won’t work.

‘Rahul Gandhi was gushing over Belt and Road which violates India’s integrity’: S Jaishankar slams Rahul Gandhi for his ‘China-love’

Moreover, S Jaishankar said that there is nothing wrong with the objective assessment of the progress of other countries but undermining the morale of your own country.

“You are saying I am scared, I am asking why is somebody undermining national morale like this,” EAM Jaishankar said.

The minister also criticized the Congress scion for hailing China’s Belt and Road initiative and comparing it to the Yellow river in China. He outlined the fact that the ‘Belt and Road’ violates India’s national integrity and sovereignty, as it passes through the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“He is gushing over the Belt and Road and compares it to the Yellow river in China. The Belt and Road goes through PoK and it violates our national integrity and sovereignty and he does not a have a word to say about it,” EAM Jaishankar said.

When Panda huggers try to be China hawks, EAM Jaishankar stated, “It doesn’t fly,” in a stern rejoinder to Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi hails China and its Belt and Road initiative

It is worth mentioning that during his lecture ‘Learning to Listen in the 21st Century’ at the Cambridge Judge Business School earlier this month, the Congress scion heaped praises on China as his presentation slide noted the country as an ‘aspiring superpower’ and a ‘force of nature’.

“The Chinese value harmony in the same manner that Americans value individual liberty. As a result of severe tremors, immense suffering, a cultural revolution, and civil war, China does not place a high priority on individual liberty; rather, it places a greater emphasis on social harmony,” Rahul Gandhi said at Cambridge.

Lauding the Belt and Road initiative, Rahul Gandhi claimed that a prominent Communist Party leader told him once that China would be in disarray if it could not harness the Yellow River. He adds China, therefore, examines energy, flow, and processes before it shapes them.

“So China looks at energy, flow, and processes and then tries to shape them. If you use this metaphor, you can see what Belt and Road is,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi has time and again expressed his admiration for China. Last year as well in a conversation with The Print columnist Shruti Kapila at the Cambridge University event, Rahul Gandhi praised Belt and Road and claimed that China wanted the countries around it to prosper.

S Jaishankar on US Ambassador Eric Garcetti

During his conversation with anchor Rahul Kanwal, EAM Jaishankar also spoke about Eric Garcetti, the newly appointed US Ambassador to India and his views regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Notably, Garcetti had said the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was discriminatory towards Muslims and that the law would be a core piece of his engagement.

EAM Jaishankar on being asked about Garcetti and his statements on CAA, Jaishankar said, “I explained to different countries to look at your citizenship criteria and tell me are you less specific in your citizenship criteria than we have.”

He cited various amendments pertaining to citizenship in the United States and European countries on the basis of language, culture, and faith.

When interrupted by Rahul Kanwal that India does not have one faith, EAM Jaishankar explained that everything cannot be seen from the point of view of political correctness.

“In many cases, people have nowhere else to go than India. Suppose if you are a Hindu in Pakistan who is oppressed, where else will you go if not India? You should not subject common sense to political correctness. On your question about the US Ambassador, let him come, Pyar Se Samjha Denge (We will explain it to him with love),” EAM Jaishankar said.

Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)

The Citizenship Amendment Act is a law passed by the Indian Parliament that is directed toward providing citizenship rights to people who belong to minority religions in the neighboring Islamic countries of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The Act also reduces the minimum term required to stay in India before applying for citizenship by naturalization to five years instead of 11 years. Thus, the law applies to Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, Zoroastrians, and Christians from the specified neighboring Islamic countries.

Is George Soros trying to influence Karnataka elections through his proxies? Here is what a report says

Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly elections that are scheduled to take place this year, a report by news outfit The Lede has reported attempts by Hungarian-American businessman George Soros and his Open Society Foundations (OSF) to influence the electoral process.

Journalist Sandhya Ravishankar, who covered the story in detail, has reported that OSF Vice-President Salil Shetty is sabotaging the political fortunes of the incumbent BJP government through his ‘Yuva Shakti’ mission.

Shetty, who met Congress scion Rahul Gandhi during the Karnataka leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, runs his youth-based organisation in Nelamangala and Doddaballapura in the State.

The Lede reposted a 2020 video of Salil Shetty wherein he discussed the objective behind the ‘Yuva Shakti’ mission in Bihar. “The state of affairs in the country has made us start this,” he was heard saying.

“About 30-40 of us got together from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru and we discussed that the country is in bad shape and we need to do something about this. There is a big crisis in the country and the financial condition of the nation is weak,” he claimed.

Shetty further insinuated, “The second issue is that religious tension and polarisation have increased. On top of this, healthcare, education & unemployment have come to a very critical state in this country. We discussed solutions. The future and the present are in the hands of youngsters. This is how Yuva Shakti was launched.”

According to The Lede Editor, Sandhya Ravishankar, the ‘Yuva Shakti’ mission is anything but an awareness programme about Indian Constitution and citizen rights.

She alleged that Salil Shetty and his aides, namely, Gagan Sethi, Biraj Patnaik, Amitabh Behar, Paul Divakar, and Namala Annie Namala, are focused on building political narratives.

She pointed out how the ‘Yuva Shakti’ mission in Doddaballapuratar regularly targets Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhak while the branch at Neelamangala co-opts Congress party’s slogan of ‘40% sarkar’ against the BJP.

Sandhya Ravishakar accused the Soros-affiliated organisation of orchestrating protests in Kalpi (Uttar Pradesh) and Nelamangala (Karnataka) in February 2021 at the time of farmer’s protest in the National Capital.

She alleged that Yuva Shakti is attempting to exploit fault lines in society, destroy social cohesion, and subvert the democratic process through undue interference in Karnataka elections.

Anti-India propaganda of George Soros

George Soros has several intellectuals on his payroll, including the former PM Manmohan Singh’s daughter Amrita Singh. Not to forget the curious case of ‘author’ and ‘social activist’ Harsh Mander who had been at the forefront of creating civil unrest during the Anti-CAA protests.

In 2018, George Soros-funded NGO, Sherpa, had attempted to thwart India’s defence deal with France and stall the delivery of Rafale fighter jets.

Moreover, Open Society Foundations (OSF) run by the billionaire had funded the Socio-Legal Information Centre (SLIC), which had been active in seeking the repeal of the sedition law currently used against anti-India elements.

In September 2019, George Soros also met Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan shortly after US President Donald Trump attended Narendra Modi’s ‘Howdy Modi’ event in Houston, Texas.

Interestingly, he is also friends with prominent Congressman Shashi Tharoor, who also happens to have a Pakistani connection. In 2021, there was a hullabaloo in India over allegations of snooping by the Modi government through the use of Israeli spyware, Pegasus.

These allegations stemmed from a report by the leftist-propaganda news outlet, The Wire, which in turn was fed the story by ‘Forbidden Stories (FS). Coincidentally, George Soros’ Open Society Foundation (OSF) happens to be one of the donors of the organization.

George Soros had been unabashed in his attempt to fuel a dangerous anti-India narrative through media and ‘civil society. Organizations funded by him played a key role in creating chaos and unrest under the pretext of anti-farm law protests.

In 1999, the Open Society Foundation began activities in India by providing scholarships and fellowships to pursue studies and research at Indian colleges. Through the OSF, George Soros made significant contributions towards the spread of instability in India.

The Hungarian-American billionaire has also tried to use international institutions, which are funded by him, including Freedom House and  V-Dem (Varieties of Democracy) Institute to tarnish the image of India at a global level.

Maharashtra: Aman Sheikh, Salman, Taufik, 2 others brutally assault 4 Hindu activists in Manmad over social media posts, booked

On Friday, several members associated with a Hindu organization named Rashtriya Shriram Sangha were brutally assaulted by a mob of Muslims in Manmad area of Nashik district in Maharashtra. The Sangha members including its President, Yogesh Chuniyan were thrashed for posting social media status regarding the change of name of Aurangabad district.

On February 24, the Maharashtra government changed the nomenclature of Aurangabad and Osmanabad districts and renamed them as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and Dharashiv respectively. The members of the Rashtriya Shriram Sangh since then have been posting social media stories lauding the decision and praising the government.

However, on March 17, a mob of around 15 to 17 Muslims arrived at the Manmad office of the Sangh and assaulted its President and three other Hindu persons identified as Ganesh Inglae, Prasad Shirsat and Kanhaiya Pawar. The Manmad police filed an FIR in the case based on the official complaint filed by Chuniyan. The complaint copy has been obtained by OpIndia in which it is mentioned that the incident happened on March 17 at around 3:30 pm.

Complaint copy obtained by OpIndia

Chuniyan stated in the complaint that accused Aman Sheikh, Salman Pathan, Taufik Sheikh, Sameer Sheikh and Lalyya Pathan barged into the Sangha office at around 4 pm and began abusing him and other Sangha members for posting social media stories regarding the change of name of Aurangabad district to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Later they thrashed the Hindu members with iron rods and fighter weapon resulting in massive injuries and chaos. The Muslim mob also happened to vandalize the Sangha office before running away from the spot.

Dy SP confirms assault, files FIR

OpIndia contacted Deputy Superintendent of Police Manmad, Samar Singh who confirmed the incident and said that around 15-17 persons attacked the Rashtriya Shriram Sangha members and abused them over a social media story. “Around last week, one of the Hindu persons had posted a story regarding name change of Aurangabad district to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. The story was not well received by some of his friends from the Muslim community. It went viral and later the Hindu persons and the Muslims engaged into a brawl. Later the Hindus happened to repost the same story in which it was said that how changing the named of Aurangabad to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar is good for Hindus. The Muslim people then gathered and abused the Hindu persons who were engaged in some routine tasks outside the Rashtriya Shriram Sangh office. Then they barged into the office and assaulted the Hindu members. Around 4 have been reported injured,” he said.

Singh further added that the Police have filed an FIR in the case and have booked 5 Muslims identified as Aman Sheikh, Salman Pathan, Taufik Sheikh, Sameer Sheikh and Lalyya Pathan. “The FIR has been filed under the Atrocities Act and section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means). A detailed report will soon be made public,” he said.

Rashtriya Shriram Sangh President claims mob around 300 Muslims attacked

Meanwhile, OpIndia also talked to Yogesh Chuniyan, the president of the Rashtriya Shriram Sangha, Manmad, who was also assaulted by the Muslim mob. He claimed that there were around 300 Muslim people who arrived at the Sangha office and assaulted the Hindu members for posting Aurgangabad-related social media stories.

While exclusively talking to OpIndia over the incident, he said, “Manmad is a Muslim-dominated town and these kinds of incidents happen here frequently. On March 17, I was in a meeting and we all were preparing for the upcoming Ram Navami festival. Suddenly, around 5-6 Muslims entered the Sangha office and began abusing us for uploading Aurangabad-related social media stories. Later they used iron rods and weapons to hit us and threaten us. I am associated with Sangh. But I had called Prasad Shirsat for making Ram Navami banners ahead of the festival. Also, Ganesh Inglae and Kanhaiya Pawar had come to the office for some work. All of us were assaulted and have suffered severe injuries.”

Earlier banner containing photo of Lord Rama was allegedly vandalized

The victims were then shifted to the local hospital which recommended admitting them at the Nashik Hospital. Chuniyan talked to OpIndia while he was undergoing treatment at the district hospital. He added that there have been communal tensions in Manmad for the past 8 days. Earlier, on March 12, the Muslims happened to tear the banner of the Rashtriya Shriram Sangh which contained the image of Lord Rama. The Muslims also threatened the Sangh members to stop their activities. Yogesh Chuniyan then filed a police complaint at the local police station and said that the incident had hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus.

“We filed a police complaint. But the Police then did not heed us. Instead one of the officers said that I am a history-sheeter and that I should ignore such incidents. The Police have good connections with the Mulsim community and many of the community members hold administrative offices here. So they (police) asked me to forget and settle the incident. But I filed an official complaint. Though no action was taken in the case,” Chuniyan alleged.

Complaint filed by Chuniyan in the matter of banner tearing (Opindia copy)

He also suspected that the current incident was planned and supported by some of the police officers. “In the past, the police have filed several fake complaints against me. They have charged me for murder and also for indulging in illegal liquor sale. Last year during Navratri, I was in Puntamba for some Sangh associated work. We also performed pandal pooja there, footages of which are available. The Manmad police at that time raided a liquor store here and filed a fake FIR against me. They have also charged me for murder. I have asked them several times to show the evidences and proofs of my involvement but to no avail. All this is I think because I am a Sangh member,” he claimed.

Muslims threatening over social media

Chuniyan also stated that the accused Muslims have been targeting and threatening him over social media since he filed a complaint against tearing off the banner of the Rashtriya Shriram Sangha which contained the image of Lord Rama. He also shared audio messages of the threats in which one of the accused could be heard saying, “Iske baad ye jaati wale status dikhne nh mangta samjha kya. Itna marunga na gharme ghuske. Dikhna nh chaiye ye sab (Here onward you shall not post any religious status. Otherwise I’ll hit you very badly).”

Audio threats received by Chuniyan from his Muslim ‘friends’

The Rashtriya Shriram Sangha led by Chuniyan has demanded strict action in the case. He said that the accused members named in the FIR should be severely punished for assaulting, abusing and threatening the Hindu members. As stated by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Manmad, Samar Singh, five accused persons named Aman Sheikh, Salman Pathan, Taufik Sheikh, Sameer Sheikh and Lalyya Pathan have been booked under the Atrocities Act and the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations into the case are underway.

Calcutta High Court directs YouTuber Dhruv Rathee to remove all references to Real fruit juice from his video, says he crossed the Lakshamanrekha

The Calcutta High Court on 15 March directed AAP supporter YouTuber Dhruv Rathee to remove portions from a video that referred to the Real fruit juice brand of FMCG major Dabur. Dhruv Rathee had posted the video on YouTube on 13 February 2023 commenting on the claims of the health benefits of packaged fruit juices.

The court has asked him to remove all references to Real fruit juices from the video and has given 7 days to implement the order.

While Dhruv Rathee had masked the brand names while displaying packages of fruit juices, he had left other parts of the packaging clearly visible, and it was clear that he used images of Dabur’s Real fruit juice packages in the entire video, which landed him in legal trouble. The YouTuber also used advertisements of the brand, which was objected to by Dabur.

Two days after the video was published, Dabur had written to Rathee on 15 February, asking him to remove the video. However, he sent a reply on 17 February, refusing to remove the video, and went on to post it on Facebook on the next day. Following this, the company moved the Calcutta High Court seeking directions to remove the video.

According to the petition by Dabur, Rathee made unfair comparison between carbonated drinks and fruit juices, and also between packaged juices and fresh juices. The company said that the “overall impact of the impugned video is to generically disparage all packaged drinking fruit juices.”

The video claimed that consumption of packaged fruit juices is harmful as leads to type 2 diabetes, hair loss etc. Dhruv Rathee asked people not to consume packaged fruit juices and strongly recommended not to give packaged fruit juices to children.

Dabur further said that the “video makes a clear, direct and brazen reference to the products sold under the brand name ‘Real’.” The company noted that Rathee “deliberately and mischievously partially blurred the registered mark/logo “Real Fruit Power” and directly targeted the petitioner’s product thereby tarnishing its reputation.”

It was clear that Dhruv Rathee used images of Real fruit juice in the video. even though the brand was blurred

The plea added that he “also used slides in the impugned video from the petitioner’s promotional advertising videos which are easily relatable by the consumers at large to the product Real.”

The court agreed with the petition, and said that while Constitution guarantees freedom of speech and expression, it is restricted only to a limited extent.

The court agreed with Dabur that although Rathee blurred the brand name “Real”, its identity was clear, and therefore the video directly targeted the brand, even though the video was on the overall category. “The impugned video shows an earlier advertisement which had been aired by the petitioner in respect of its product Real and also shows the petitioner’s product Real in a blurred manner. The product of the petitioner Real has been repeatedly targeted both overtly and covertly in the impugned video. Any consumer would understand that the product shown in the impugned video is that of the petitioner’s product Real,” the court said in the judgement.

It was clear that Dhruv Rathee used images of Real fruit juice in the video. even though the brand was blurred

The judgement further stated Dhruv Rathee violated section 29 (9) of the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the Copyright Act, 1957 by unauthorised use of packaging, label and logo of the product Real as it violates the trademark and copyright protection given to Dabur.

The court noted that even though the object of the video may not be objectionable, he crossed the “Lakshamanrekha or the Rubicon” by “making repeated direct and brazen references to the product Real”.

“In my view, the 5 petitioner’s product Real has been specifically targeted, denigrated and discredited in the impugned video,” the court of Justice Ravi Krishan Kapur said, agreeing with Dabur.

The court said that Dhruv Rathee is permitted to air the video “only after removing the offending portions in the impugned video which makes any reference to the petitioner’s product Real and also not to make any use of the trademark, copyright content, trade dress, packaging label and logo of the petitioner’s Real brand of products.”

Giving 7 days to implement the order, the court said that if it is not done, the court will direct the social media platforms to block the video. The next date of hearing in the matter is 22 March 2023.

Maharashtra: Undated photos of Uddhav Thackeray with bookie Anil Jaisinghani surface online, his daughter had tried to cheat Amruta Fadnavis

On 17th March 2023, photos of Uddhav Thackeray appeared in which he is seen with the absconding bookie Anil Jaisinghani. Anil Jaisinghani’s daughter Aniksha Jaisinghani was recently in the news for her attempt to cheat deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta Fadnavis.

In the photos that surfaced, Uddhav Thackeray is seen welcoming Anil Jaisinghani, who allegedly joined Shiv Sena in 2014.

Aniksha Jaisinghani’s father Anil Jaisinghani’s photo with Uddhav Thackeray is now going viral on social media. Anil Jaisinghani allegedly joined Shiv Sena in 2014, in presence of Uddhav Thackeray who was the party chief at that time. The photographs of this party-joining event have now surfaced. Anil Jaisinghani is an Ulhasnagar-based bookie who is wanted in various cases registered against him and is on the run since 2016.

Sanjay Raut’s remarks

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut talked to the media after these photos surfaced. He said, “If the BJP is doing politics of photos, it will also come out that with whom the chief minister, the deputy chief minister, and their families have photos. So it’s better not to talk about it. We don’t go after anyone’s family. We have never done politics that will hurt their families. But this bitterness was brought about by Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra and by Amit Shah-Narendra Modi at the Centre.”

Sanjay Raut added, “Even today Eknath Khadse’s son-in-law is in jail. Fadnavis should answer this. Me, Anil Deshmukh, and Nawab Malik – all of us went to jail. But what’s the reason? The allegations against us are true and the allegations against you are false? We have enough evidence that your family will go to jail. But we won’t go after your family. However, don’t make us open our mouths. Otherwise, there will be political explosions in Maharashtra.”

What is the Aniksha Jaisinghani row?

Anil Jaisinghani’s daughter Aniksha Jaisinghani allegedly established a trustworthy friendship with Amruta Fadnavis and later asked Amruta Fadnavis to help her accomplish the acquittal of her father through Devendra Fadnavis – the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. Aniksha Jaisinghani offered bribes to Amruta Fadnavis for this and later started blackmailing her.

Amruta Fadnavis filed an FIR against Aniksha Jaisinghani who blackmailed her and threatened to share her photographs. Aniksha Jaisinghani is allegedly a designer by profession. She also offered to provide Amruta with information on some bookies who can help her earn money.

Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis gave a clarification in this regard in the state’s legislative assembly on 16th March 2023, after the NCP leader Ajit Pawar asked for one. In his statement, Devendra Fadnavis shared the details of the bribe offered by the designer, the FIR filed by Amruta Fadnavis, action taken by the police on this FIR, and findings in the case so far.

He claimed that during the investigation, it was found that the accused designer was offering a bribe to Amruta Fadnavis for the acquittal of her father Anil Jaisinghani who is charged with many cases including betting, threatening, cheating, etc., and is on the run for the past few years and that the accused designer Anishka was simultaneously recording videos of her various meetings with Amruta Fadnavis to use the videos to blackmail if her attempt to bribe fails.

Devendra Fadnavis also claimed that according to the police investigations, the accused Anishka was doing all this exercise as guided by some politicians. He said that Aniksha Jaisinghani shared photos of her father with many prominent politicians from various political parties and tried to Devendra Fadnavis said that the accused also offered Amruta Fadnavis that she will expose the leaders from other parties if her father is freed from charges.

Aniksha Jaisinghani and her brother Akshan Jaisinghani both are arrested by police. Akshan Jaisinghani complained of chest pain when police reached their residence. He was therefore admitted to the hospital.

Cases against Anil Jaisinghani

Anil Jaisinghani is an infamous bookie who used to take bets worth many crores during IPL matches. He is an Ulhasnagar inhabitant who is infamous for luring police officers with large bribes, videotaping the cash handover, and then blackmailing the policemen. One of his victims was a deputy police commissioner, who subsequently resigned in despair.

Jaisinghani is said to have connections to betting syndicates in Dubai, Karachi, and Delhi. He used to inform the police about other bookies and arrange for their raids as part of his drive to become the top bookie. Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister, said the same thing about Jaisinghani’s daughter.

BJP demands a special committee to probe Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in the UK

Bharatiya Janata Party approached the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Om Birla, to appoint a committee to investigate if Rahul Gandhi’s comments in London were an insult to India’s democracy and whether he should be suspended from the Lok Sabha if he does not apologise in front of the House.

Nishikant Dubey, a member of the Lok Sabha, had requested that a special parliamentary committee be established in accordance with Rule 223 of the House’s norms of procedure and conduct of business to look into the Congressman’s ‘contemptuous’ remarks.

He stated, that in order to send a strong message and ensure that ‘no one takes the pride and respect of high institutions for a ride,’ the committee should consider suspending Rahul from the House. According to Dubey, he is pushing for the appointment of a special parliamentary committee similar to one formed to investigate the cash-for-votes scandal that occurred under the UPA-I government in 2008.

The Congress leader has denied the accusations and refused to retract his statements. He also met with the Speaker to request to be permitted to speak in defence of himself in the Lower House.

Breach of Parliament’s privilege

Constitutional scholar Subhash C. Kashyap, who served as secretary general of the seventh, eighth, and ninth Lok Sabhas, said, that what amount to a breach of Parliament’s privilege was up to the House to determine. “It can decide whether the member has breached the privilege or a contempt of the House has taken place. The House has full authority,” he said.

“In general, Rahul’s allegation that mics of Opposition MPs are switched off when they speak could be a matter for the Privileges Committee as it could be seen as an insult to the Chair. However, his statement, that democracy is under attack in India would probably not amount to a breach of Parliament’s privilege,” P.D.T. Achary, another former Secretary General of Lok Sabha. He added, that the House determines what constitutes contempt.

Legal basis for setting up the special committee

The House is in charge to decide the legal basis for setting up the special committee. Kashyap informed, “The House can set up a committee and decide its terms of reference. It is entirely within its power.”

Achary mentioned, that a resolution for the formation of such a committee and its mandate could lead to the creation of a special committee. “Before somebody can be punished for an offence, the offence must be defined. A committee similar to the one that was set up to investigate the cash-for-votes scandal in 2008 could be formed to investigate and punish an MP,” he noted.

Rahul Gandhi’s case

Given its dominance in the Lok Sabha, the BJP will hold a majority in any committee that is created. The committee can meet every day and call the Gandhi scion for an explanation. It generally turns in its findings within a month.

Wayanad won’t have a representative in the House if Rahul is suspended for a certain amount of time. There won’t be a by-election, which can only be called if the MP is expelled.

What had Rahul Gandhi said

On February 28, he at Cambridge University opined, that ‘everybody knows that Indian democracy is under attack,’ and ‘the institutional framework which is required for a democracy, Parliament, a free press, the judiciary, just the idea of mobilisation, are all getting constrained.’

On March 6, during a discussion in Chatham House, he said, “It is an Indian problem and the solution is going to come from inside. However, the scale of Indian democracy means that it is a global public good. If Indian democracy collapses, democracy on the planet suffers a very serious, possibly fatal blow. So it is important for you too.”

He, according to the BJP, promoted an ‘untenable narrative’ and made ‘denigrating, inappropriate comments’ about Indian institutions abroad as part of a ‘calculated strategy’ to damage them.

Delhi Police issues notice to Rahul Gandhi

Meanwhile, Delhi police issued a notice to Rahul Gandhi on the ‘women in Kashmir are still being sexually assaulted’ allegation, made during the Kashmir leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra in January and sought details of victims so that action can be taken. Taking cognisance of social media posts, police have sent a questionnaire and asked him to give details about women who approached him regarding sexual harassment.

Punjab: Pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh evades arrest after police launch a massive crackdown against him and his aides

0

On Saturday, the Punjab Police detained six associates of self-proclaimed radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh in a significant crackdown. According to reports, supporters of the Waris Punjab De leader shared unverified videos of police pursuing his convoy in Moga district, with the vehicle eventually speeding to Shahkot near Jalandhar.

Sources indicate that while en route to Bathinda, the police attempted to intercept Singh, who is believed to be a sympathizer of Khalistan, near Mehtabpur village in Jalandhar. Reportedly, six of his supporters were detained at Mehtabpur and the homes of other supporters were searched. Sources also indicate that the phones of Singh’s close aides were turned off. Amritpal was stopped near Mehatpur in Shahkot by the police, but he managed to escape, while his associates were apprehended.

As per social media users, internet services have been suspended in many areas in Punjab, in the wake of a police operation against Amritpal Singh and his aides.

Singh has a kidnapping case registered against him at the Ajnala police station in Amritsar. It is unclear whether any further cases were filed against him after his supporters forcefully entered the police station on February 24, following the arrest of one of his associates. During the clash, the supporters protested and clashed with the police. The police have not disclosed any information regarding additional charges filed against Singh related to the incident.

Ajnala violence: Mob led by pro-Khalistan leader Amritpal Singh creates a ruckus

Notably, on February 21, Amritpal Singh issued a veiled threat to Home Minister Amit Shah saying that the latter will have to face a similar fate as that of Indira Gandhi. “Indira tried to suppress, what happened? Now Amit Shah can fulfil his wish and see”, he said.

The organization Waris Punjab De was established by Deep Sidhu, an actor-turned-activist. He gained popularity among pro-Khalistani elements during farmer protests. Sidhu died in a road accident in February 2022. Amritpal Singh was declared head of Waris Punjab De following Sidhu’s death. At that time, Singh was in Dubai. In September 2022, he returned to India and officially took charge of the organization. Since that day, he has been preaching Sikhism in Punjab and connecting with the youth. Armed guards accompany him everywhere, and there is a striking resemblance between how he preaches and how Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale preached Sikhism during his initial days as a Sikh leader.

After Newark said it was scammed by Kailasa of Nityananda, reports emerge that 30 US cities were conned with ‘cultural partnership’ by the ‘non-existent country’

A few days after Newark city in New Jersey said that it was scammed when it signed an agreement to become the sister city of the ‘Hindu nation Kailasa’ established by Swamy Nithyananda, because the nation does not exist, now reports have emerged that the ‘United States of Kailasa’ had established ‘cultural partnerships’ with over 30 US cities.

According to the website of Kailasa, there are more than 30 cities in the US that have signed a cultural partnership with it, including Richmond, Virginia, Dayton, Ohio, Buena Park, Florida and others spread all over the country.

Detailing the findings, Fox News anchor James Watters said, “We are finding out the supreme fake pontiff has a long list of cities he has duped.” He mentioned that certain American localities were contacted to gauge their opinions on concluding a deal with the fictitious country, “And so far most of the cities have confirmed these proclamations are in fact true.”

Jacksonville in North Carolina told the news channel, “Our proclamations with Kailasa are not an endorsement. They are a response to a request and we do not verify the requested information.”

Fox News slammed the cities for failing to ‘Google’ any information about the so-called country. “If someone wants a proclamation, someone gets a proclamation. They’ll just say you’re an exotic Hindu Island and they’ll name a street after you,” he said further.

The news channel revealed that those running the federal government were also falling for the faux country, not simply mayors or city councils. The anchor emphasised that two members of Congress, Congresswoman Norma Torres of California and a member of the House Appropriations Committee had also awarded Kailasa ‘special congressional recognition,’ according to the self-styled guru.

Earlier this month, Susan Garofalo, Press Secretary in the Department of Communications, City of Newark, stated, “We learned about the circumstances surrounding Kailasa, the City of Newark immediately took action and rescinded the sister city agreement,” on January 18.

“Based on deception, the ceremony was groundless and void. Although this was a regrettable incident, the City of Newark remains committed to partnering with people from diverse cultures in order to enrich each other with connectivity, support, and mutual respect,” she added.

Who is Nithyananda?

Nithyananda’s real name is Arunachalam Rajasekaran. He was born in Tamil Nadu, India, on January 1, 1978. He alleges that during one of his spiritual encounters with the mystic, Mahavatar Babaji gave him the name Nithyananda. In 2002, he began to make public appearances as a spiritual leader.

In 2003, the Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam Ashram was founded in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He gained a huge following due to his claims of possessing superpower abilities and being an enlightened soul.

A self-proclaimed godman, Nithyananda is the main accused in several cases in India, including rape, torture, kidnapping, and wrongful confinement of children, under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He is also being reportedly investigated by French authorities for an alleged fraud of $400,000.

He fled India in 2019 and created a so-called country known as the ‘United States of Kailasa (USK),’ also called ‘Kailasa,’ in the same year.

What is Kailasa?

‘Kailasa’ or ‘United States of Kailasa’ is a so-called independent Hindu nation established by Nithyananda, which is reportedly located off the coast of Ecuador. According to its website, it has its own passport, flag, and even a Bank named ‘Reserve Bank of Kailasa.’ Nithyananda even announced flights to his nation in December 2020. It is even offering free e-citizenship to people.

On the website of Kailasa, it is described as ‘the greatest Hindu nation’ on Earth. It is a ‘Nation without borders created by dispossessed Hindus who lost the right to practise Hinduism authentically in their own countries’.

It even claims to have established diplomatic relations with and has received recognition from nations, states, and world leaders across the globe. However, the website lacks a crucial detail, any physical address. It does not list any address, does not have any map showing its location on the globe, and does not mention its geographical location.

In fact, even though Kaisala has a website filled with lots of information, there is no information about its location, and therefore there is no evidence that the ‘Hindu nation actually exists. While reports claim that Nithyananda bought an island near South America, there is no evidence of it. Moreover, while it is possible to purchase islands, such purchases don’t make them sovereign, the island continues to be part of the country that controls it.

Last month, the representatives of ‘Kailasa’ were even seen at two UN public meetings in Geneva in a bid to gain recognition and acceptance at an international forum, where they claimed Nithyananda is ‘persecuted’ by India.

A territory cannot be referred to as a country until it has a permanent population, a government, and the ability to interact with other countries, according to the 1933 Montevideo Convention, which is part of customary international law. Therefore, United Nations does not recognise ‘Kailasa’ as a country.

Studio owned by Karnataka minister to produce biopic of Vokkaliga chieftains who ‘killed’ Tipu Sultan, Congress and JD(S) call it fiction and lie

In Karnataka, a row has erupted as the film production studio owned by the state Horticulture Minister Munirathna has planned to make a biopic on, Vokkaliga chieftains, the killers of Islamist tyrant and erstwhile Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan.

Vrushabhadri Productions owned by the film producer-turned-politician Munirathna has applied with the Karnataka Film Chambers of Commerce to register Uri Gowda Nanje Gowda as the title of the said biopic. According to legends in the old Mysuru belt, Tipu Sultan was killed by the two Vokkaliga chieftains Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda, and the movie is based on this belief.

However, several historians dispute the claim made by some locals of the former Mysuru belt that Tipu was killed by the two Vokkaliga chieftains rather than the British. Congress and JDS also claimed that Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda never existed and they are fictional characters. However, the BJP opines otherwise, saying that they were real, and there is historical evidence to prove it.

JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy accused the BJP of “misleading” Vokkaligas by employing ‘fictional’ characters and claiming they were responsible for killing Tipu Sultan. He also claimed that there are ongoing attempts to defame the community. According to him, this is a part of the BJP’s “hidden agenda,” which includes a smear campaign to “insult and politically eliminate” Vokkaligas.

Calling Tipu Sultan a freedom fighter, he alleged that BJP is portraying the Vokkaligas as killers of a freedom fighter. “The BJP is trying to sow seeds of poison through lies and myth, and it has turned its attention on Vokkaligas. This is a hidden agenda by the BJP to insult Vokkaligas through a smear campaign. By attempting to make a film on Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda, attempts are being made to rob the Vokkaliga pride on the silver screen,” he tweeted.

H D Kumaraswamy said that by claiming that the Vokkaliga chieftains killed Tipy Sultan, BJP is attempting to make Vokkaligas look like villains permanently in history.

Rejecting the claims of the JD(S) and Congress on the issue, senior BJP leader and Union Minister of State (MoS) Shobha Karandlaje said that Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda were real, and there were historical references about them. She said that they fought Tipu to safeguard the family of Mysuru Maharajas and to protect the state, and their names are mentioned in folk plays and ballads. “The duo protected the Mysore royal family. Instead of feeling proud of their achievement, why is Congress-JD(S) feeling shy in accepting it,” she said.

BJP general secretary C.T. Ravi also said that the characters of Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda are historical truth. Revenue Minister R. Ashok said that the issue has nothing to do with politics, and it is wrong to bring a caste angle to it. He asserted that “BJP stands by history.”

Recently, the BJP workers installed arch gateways to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the inauguration event of the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway in Mandya on Sunday. The Karnataka BJP workers had erected an arch hailing Vokkaliga chieftains Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda. This, however, was replaced with that of late Vokkaliga seer Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji after outrage erupted.

Notably, in November last year, a play was staged in Mysuru wherein it was shown that Tipu Sultan was killed by the two Vokkaliga chieftains. This play was based on the book titled ‘Tipu Nijakanasugalu’ (Real Dreams of Tipu) authored by Rangayana director Addanda C. Cariappa.

On November 22 of last year, in response to a plea filed by the former chairman of the District Wakf Board Committee, the Additional City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru temporarily halted the distribution and sale of the book.

Back then, Carriappa had said, “When I try to introduce the darker side and the cruel side of Tipu Sultan, my voice is suppressed. This literary work is the result of extensive research and is based on numerous books. If critics think I am wrong, I am ready to have a debate.”

Shobha Karandlaje, a senior member of the BJP and the Union Minister of State (MoS), asserted that Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda were real people with historical references. She said that Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda are mentioned in plays and ballads and claimed that they fought Tipu to defend the state and the Mysuru Maharajas.

It is notable that the Islamic ruler Tipu Sultan is hailed as a freedom fighter by so-called seculars and many Muslims. Tipu Sultan is painted as the one who struggled against the British. But, the anti-Hindu Islamic barbarian acts of the 18th-century tyrant are not too old to be forgotten. This fact lands the Islamists in the middle of a controversy that keeps arising time and again.
