The tirade continues: Now, Mumbai Mayor says actress Kangana Ranaut is a ‘gift of Kans Mama’

Hours after actress Kangana Ranaut professed her love for the city of Mumbai and the State of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena politician and Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar took to Twitter to slander her.

Kangana Ranaut calls Mumbai, her Karmabhoomi

Sharing a screenshot of Twitter trends that displayed the hashtag #indiawithkanganaranaut at the top, the actress wrote, “No words to express my gratitude for my friends from everywhere including Maharashtra, they know my intentions and I don’t need to prove my love for my Karmbhoomi Mumbai who I always referred to as Maa Yashodha who adopted me, Jai Mumbai Jai Maharashtra.”

However, the Mayor of Mumbai was not impressed with Kangana Ranaut after she took Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut head-on. Replying to a news report by TV9 Marathi about the actress’ love for Mumbai, Kishore Pednekar wrote, “You are the gift of Kans Mama.” The headline of the Marathi article had read that Kangana said she did not need to prove her love for Mumbai.

The Itihasa behind the ‘Kansa’ reference

According to Ithihasa, Kansa was the ruler of Vrishni kingdom in Mathura. He was the maternal uncle of Lord Krishna and brother of Maa Yashoda. Kansa, often referred to as a demon king, overthrew his father to become the ruler of Mathura. Kansa killed 7 of Maa Yashoda’s children after a heavenly prophecy that he would be killed by one of them.

The tyrant king also put his sister Yashoda and her husband in prison. Later, when Kansa realised that Lord Krishna was the eighth child of his sister, he made several attempts to kill him. However, all his plans ended in smoke. But, ultimately, the evil king was killed by Lord Krishna. The day is celebrated as ‘Kansa Vadh’ by Hindus all over the world.

Shiv Sena threatens Kangana Ranaut, asks her not to return to Mumbai

Earlier, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, in an article in Sena mouthpiece Saamana, had asked actress Kangana Ranaut to not to travel back to Mumbai after she had expressed fear stating that that the city police force was more threatening to her than the ‘movie mafia’. Responding to his remarks, she had tweeted, “Sanjay Raut Shiv Sena leader has given me an open threat and asked me not to come back to Mumbai after Aazadi graffitis in Mumbai streets and now open threats, why Mumbai is feeling like Pakistan occupied Kashmir?”

Kangana Ranaut’s statements against Mumbai Police had come in the backdrop of a recent controversy after Commissioner of Mumbai Police Param Bir Singh had ‘liked’ a tweet which had asked for public shaming of the actress.

Showik, brother of Rhea Chakraborty, to be arrested, had confessed to procuring drugs on the instructions of his sister

0

The Narcotics Bureau has announced that Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda will be arrested in two hours and formal process for their arrest has been initiated.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty might be in for big trouble as well, after her brother, Showik, who was detained today by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to probe the drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, has allegedly confessed of procuring the drugs on the instructions of his sister. Showik, who was being grilled by the NCB since morning, during his interrogation, has basically named Rhea saying ‘he procured drugs for her’.

Moreover, as per NCB sources, he also claimed that Rhea had allegedly asked him and Sushant’s ex-house manager Samuel Miranda to procure drugs. He added that he was allegedly in contact with several other drug peddlers.

NCB sources also say that ‘they will quiz Showik further in this case’.

NCB raids Rhea Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda’s house

Earlier in the day, a five-member team of NCB raided Rhea’s house. According to reports, the NCB team also searched Rhea’s car, phone, and laptop. The raid was conducted a day after the Mumbai court sent alleged drug peddler Zaid Vilatra to seven-day custody of the NCB. Zaid had confessed that he used to deal with Showik regarding the buying and selling of drugs.

On the other hand, Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda was also detained and taken to the NCB office for interrogation after the team searched his house for over two hours.

Sources at the NCB revealed that Showik allegedly met drug peddler Basit Parihar at a football club in Bandra to gain access to drugs. Parihar was already in contact with another drug peddler named Sohail – who allegedly supplied Showik and Rhea marijuana. Rhea has already been issued a notice in the NCB case and is likely to be summoned.

NCB detains two drug peddlers

Yesterday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had detained the two men for selling marijuana in the Andheri area in Mumbai.

WhatsApp chats of Rhea Chakraborty leads to two drug suppliers

The drug angle in the case had emerged after WhatsApp chats of Rhea Chakraborty with her acquaintances were recovered by the ED where they were seen discussion about the purchase of drugs. A series of WhatsApp messages which was allegedly sent from Rhea Chakraborty’s mobile phone revealed Rhea’s occasional use of drugs like MDMA, marijuana, etc. The chats were deleted and have been retrieved during the investigation by ED. The messages also contained communications with a drug dealer named Gaurav.

After recovery of the messages, ED had informed the same to the NCB, after which NCB had registered a case in the matter and started a probe.

The ED is probing the money laundering angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case while the CBI, which is probing the main death case, is expected to probe the connection of drug dealers with the film industry in Mumbai.

Two Democrat Mayors change residence after Antifa mobs reach their homes, blame Trump instead of cracking down on rioters

0

Democrat party mayors in Portland and St. Louis had to abandon their home after a legion of “Antifa” demonstrators gathered outside their homes, protesting against the elected officials.

After putting up with the demonstrators for some time now, the Democrat Mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler, communicated to his neighbours that he has decided to move out of his residence after a series of demonstrations targeting his building. The decision came a day after hundreds of “Antifa” protesters gathered outside the residence of the Mayor in upscale Pearl District of Portland, Oregon, setting off fireworks and defacing the building with graffiti and damaging its windows. According to the reports, one of the protesters also hurled an inflammatory substance inside the condo, after which the police took charge of the situation, arresting 19 demonstrators.

“I sincerely apologise for the damage caused to our home and the terror that you all had to witness and experience because of my position,” Wheeler wrote in the letter, according to a report published in The Oregonian. Defending his move to shift out of the residence, he added that it would be ‘best for him and everyone else’s safety and peace’.

Wheeler is not the only one dogged by the anti-fascist protesters. A large number of elected officials such as the mayors of Chicago, Seattle, Pittsburgh and St. Louis, have been facing persistent protests from the demonstrators outside their respective residences.

Spooked by the persistent hounding by the protesters, the mayor of the St. Louis decided to temporarily shift her residence, St. Louis-Post dispatch read. The mayor on Wednesday confirmed that she and her husband are currently living in a different apartment for the last two months.

Mayor Lyda Krewson said that the decision to temporarily shift to the new residence was taken to dissuade the protesters from gathering around their official residence and causing grave inconvenience for the neighbours.

Krewson is one among the many mayors who had to grapple with the demonstrators swarming around their homes in the wake of protests that erupted after the death of George Floyd, who is Black, while in police custody in Minneapolis.

US President Trump posted a tweet in solidarity with Portland mayor, saying despite being nice and respectable towards the protesters, the looters, anarchists and agitators have treated him horribly, claiming that criminals only understand the language of strength.

Democrat mayors blame US President Donald Trump for the Antifa protesters swarming their residences

Hitting out at the Democrat mayors, US President also tweeted that his administration will do everything in its power to prevent “weak mayors and lawless cities” from receiving Federal dollars while allowing anarchists to harm people, burn buildings, and ruin lives and businesses. Trump said that he is issuing a notice to them.

However, instead of calling out the perversity of the protesters, who have staged violent and often uncontrollable demonstrations outside his house, Wheeler instead mounted an attack on the US president, claiming the US president is threatening to withdraw funds at a time when the Americans are reliant on the safety net dollars to tide themselves over the coronavirus pandemic.

Slamming Donald Trump, the mayor of Seattle, Jenny Durkan, said that the attack against the Democrat mayors by the American President is attempt to distract attention from the bungled handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

New york Mayor threatened the American President with a lawsuit, saying Donald Trump is trying to recover the losses from his mishandling of the coronavirus crisis and making unconstitutional and political threat against them.

While the Democrat mayors were hounded and relentlessly pursued by the ‘Antifa’ protesters, leading several of them to change their residences, the elected officials have been cravenly tight-lipped against the mob, pinning the blame on the US President and exculpating the violent demonstrators.

Propaganda 101 – Lessons in propaganda from the Liberal playbook

0

Sometimes, when you come across a news item, an opinion piece or a simple tweet, does your jaw drop or eyeballs pop out of their sockets or are you are left shaking your head in disbelief? Does the farfetchedness and the sheer audacity of what is being peddled with the utmost confidence and pompousness, without an iota of self-doubt or remorse on the writer’s part leave you befuddled?

Fret not, like many of us, you may just have been hit by a propaganda item, from the liberal stable. Dictionary defines propaganda as “information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view”. For the uninitiated, propaganda is hard to recognize. Seemingly benign, it successfully camouflages itself as a piece of scholarly work or a lofty opinion or simply as a sample of (that very popular and fiercely protected specimen called) free speech, but then quietly goes about mischievously trying to influence the gullible public undetected.

But, once you attune your antenna to detect propaganda, it is very easy to spot it. Despite all efforts to hide, the wolf begins to shimmer through the sheep’s clothing. However, this article is not about how to detect and thwart propaganda. In fact, far from it! We in India have had some expert propagandists live and bless us for many years now. Very early on, perceiving propaganda as potent tool to sway public opinion, they embraced the art-form and perfected it over time.

The group I am referring to, is of course, the great Indian secular brigade, and I think there is lot to learn from them. A bit of history may set the context. It all started with the master propagandists, the British. With all the tools at their disposal, both men (eg. Thomas Babington Macaulay) and material (eg. AIT – Aryan Invasion Theory) they spread their wisdom to the unwashed Indian masses in an attempt to make them loathe their past, culture and their very existence.

While the majority fortunately rejected their attempts, Brits do seem to have taught a few of their brown subjects, especially the liberal elite that would go on to occupy influential positions in media, academia and government after independence, quite a few tricks of the trade. And then like Arjuna exceeding Drona in archery, eventually the students exceeded the masters themselves.

And produced an India, with the unique distinction of being the only country in the world in whose history books invading marauders were exalted and worshipped as benevolent rulers, while the true history of the land lay dismissed as mythology and bunkum. While I do admit that some practitioners of this art are currently undergoing existential crisis and losing touch, the art itself is very much alive and kicking.

With so much talent all around us, there cannot be a better thing to do than observe and learn. So, here is a carefully gleaned set of lessons, a masterclass of sorts in the art of propaganda straight from the liberal playbook.

Lesson #1: Never allow minor inconveniences, like facts, come in the way of a good story

Exhibit 1: India’s “non-scientific COVID mismanagement” story

It is true that COVID caught all nations by surprise, including India. But ever since the COVID outbreak started, Indian liberals with a section of foreign intellectuals had waited with extra eagerness and bated breath for the pandemic to wreck the country and for people to start dropping dead like flies.

Although their hopes were dashed (despite rising numbers, India continues to do very well in terms of both fatality and recovery rates) a glimmer of hope came in late July when due to sheer population size, the inevitable happened and India occupied one of the top 5 spots purely going by infection numbers.

It didn’t take long for the liberal media to rub their hands in glee, seize the moment and lump us with other “right-wing” countries like US and Brazil (whose leaders had openly called Corona a hoax) and attribute it to “anti-science” policy of the Modi government. Never mind that right from the start of the fight against COVID, Indian government had let medical professionals lead the show and had let the world know as much.

Exhibit 2: The Kashmir or the CAA story

Scrapping of Article 370 in 2019 was a long overdue, rational action to bring the state into mainstream and remove the blatant discriminatory laws that had existed – against Dalits, non-Sunnis and women. So was an act like CAA that was simply meant to help persecuted, fleeing religious minorities from neighboring Islamic countries.

Any reasonable individual could see that. But no such compunctions for the liberals when they opposed these humanitarian (and completely lawful) acts tooth and nail – most times blindly, wilfully, and irrationally, often riding a pile of lies and dramatizing their pronouncements to carry on their propaganda.

It didn’t matter to them that their sophisticated lies literally set the country on fire ultimately culminating in the bloody 2020 Delhi riots. Now why should facts be ignored? Because facts tend to be a dampener when you decide to sell your story. So do your best to avoid them at all costs.

Lesson #2: Render intellectual heft to your story by using irrelevant references from outside India

I guess that’s what educates my wish for India this Independence day. I just want silence. This noise, this headsplitting, ear-bleeding barrage of hate and falsehoods and acid, needs to stop. Pablo Neruda’s Keeping Quiet comes
to mind. Maybe, that’s what we all need. A moment of silence. A moment to pause and ask ourselves what we have
come to. A moment to allow ourselves to heal.

Poignant lines from Harnidh Kaur’s 2018 article in thePrint. Of course, in reference to the abyss India had started descending into ever since it voted a non-intellectual government in 2014.

Or sample this:

Tweet by Sajjan Singh Thakur sharin g Sagarika Ghose’s article

What is the use of poring over all those South American and Russian novels and poetry if you cannot use them to randomly to prove your point? But one has to be mindful here. A communist poet or author from Russia or South America is Kosher (or should I say Halal). But horror of horror if you were to quote a Kalidasa or a Thiruvalluvar (not that their work would offer much scope for propaganda).

That would be tantamount to declaring yourself a rustic, rooted Indian – a strict no-no, of course. The only exception among Indians is Mahatma Gandhi or Chacha Nehru, who are allowed to be quoted. Quoting them, in fact, would lend a certain gravitas to your story and grant it some much needed secular creds.

Tweet by Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana

But when in the mood to be caustic, move away from South American intellectuals and Gandhi, to talk of that perennial favorite, North Korea to compare India with.

Tweet by Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra
Tweet by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap

Because secular governments as in West Bengal or Maharashtra that send the police after you for questioning their secular leaders, still are within Indian boundaries, you perhaps can get away with this comparison.

Lesson #3: It is always the fault of those, on whose side you are not

Democracy is a favorite weapon. As long as of course it aids your propaganda. The moment it stops doing that, it becomes just another tool in the hands of the undeserving. (So decidedly while fascists sometimes do get bored with tampering EVMs and lose a few elections for a change, do not get misled by that. They are probably busy plotting their next move)

The tweet was retweeted widely

So, when you lose, it is invariably because most people are fools…

Tweet by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor

Or immoral and evil

Tweet by propagandist Rana Ayyub

Or are simply helpless due to lack of options… (from Shekhar Gupta’s piece post Aug 5 Bhoomi Pujan)

From article by Shekhar Gupta

But don’t ever remotely consider the possibility of you having been ignorant, oblivious or plain stupid to notice obvious signs of loss. That possibility simply doesn’t arise.

Lesson #4: Every occasion, even a calamity, is an opportunity to propagate your story

Tweet by Shashi Tharoor
Tweet by Sagarika Ghose

Don’t forget to repeatedly hammer in your point, no matter what the situation is. Even better when efforts from your fellow ideologues are synchronised with yours. Coordinated reiterations will naturally amplify the effect. Called repetition technique this has been long proven as a successful method in advertising. This can be adopted and followed, quite “liberally” during propaganda.

Lesson #5: Oxymorons and Ironies – banish them from your dictionary

Remove complicated words like oxymoron, ironies and paradoxes from your dictionary (while at it, also remove words like shame and empathy).

Tweet by Shahid Siddiqui

Never mind what the word ‘uniformity’ actually means, make incongruous claims that bringing uniformity actually means favouring one community over other (through Hindu Rashtra).

Tweet by Communist leader Sitaram Yechury

Since secular icons donning skull cap and holding candle vigils is totally acceptable, just ensure that your sense of irony does not inhibit you from driving home your message of destruction of secularism in the country when Hindu ministers attend Hindu functions donning Hindu attire.

And finally,

Lesson #6: Relentlessness and persistence – your mantra for life.

Propagandists are nothing if not relentless and persistent. And loyally wedded to their cause, come hell or high water. So keep the cauldron simmering, however poisonous its contents maybe, even if it means tearing apart the already fragile social fabric of the nation and reviving painful memories of past trauma.

Tweet by Aakar Patel

But this could be a slippery slope. When overdone, it can backfire badly.

Tweet by Rahul Gandhi

So tread cautiously.

In conclusion, understand that propaganda never stops yielding result. Successful propaganda is why a brahmin, Ravana, ends up getting propped up and worshipped by a Brahmin-hating EV Ramasamy Naicker in Tamil Nadu. It is also why a secular India despite its flawless track record in minority treatment gets branded ‘Islamophobic’ or ‘Majoritarian’ by random ‘experts’ and assorted personalities.

There is no doubt that liberals have had an undue advantage in being the first movers in this territory and causing enough damage to the country and its ethos in their unchallenged long run. But it is now time for the other side to learn, and to use the venom to manufacture the nullifying antivenin.

This country deserves its healing.

We were assured of a safe stay in Jaipur by Priyanka Ji, we feel safe here in Rajasthan: Dr Kafeel Khan after his release

0

The BRD Medical College and Hospital Children’s death case accused Dr Kafeel Khan, who recently came out of jail on an order of the Allahabad High Court, thanked Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav and Communist Party in a press conference for lending their support to him.

Khan was arrested from Mumbai for allegedly making inflammatory remarks during the anti-CAA protests in the Aligarh Muslim University. In a press conference held by him in Jaipur Pink City Press Club today, he said that his family advised him to move to Rajasthan as there was Congress government in the state and therefore he would be safe there. “We were assured of a safe stay in Jaipur by Priyanka Ji who spoke to my mother and wife and said the UP government may slap other charges against me. We feel safe here in Rajasthan”, he said.

Khan alleged that the Uttar Pradesh government falsely implicated him and urged the CM Yogi to revoke his suspension. He said that he would challenge his suspension in the High Court if not revoked. Dr Khan was suspended after allegations of medical negligence was levelled against him in 2017 after 72 infants had died in BRD medical college in Gorakhpur due to lack of oxygen supply, and was arrested on that charge. Two years later, after a probe by UP police, the charges of negligence and corruption were dropped, but he was still charged with running a private practice and two other accusations. He was released in 2018 after spending 9 months in jail, and he still continues to be suspended from his job.

Priyanka Gandhi had Celebrated his Release

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took to Twitter to express her pleasure on the release of Dr Kafeel Khan. Vadra had also written to CM Yogi Adityanath to ensure that justice is done in Khan’s case. Speculations are ripe that Khan could be the Muslim face of Congress in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections.

Uttar Pradesh: Case registered against former BSP minister for making communally sensitive remarks

0

Agra’s Mantola police have filed an FIR against the former BSP minister Bashir Chaudhary, for one of his controversial videos where he is heard making some communally sensitive remarks. The minister is alleged to have incited religious sentiments by releasing videos on social media. He had won the assembly elections from Agra Cantt in 2002 on a BSP ticket.

The Mantola police which has called it a deliberate attempt to spread hatred between the two communities have booked the minister under IPC Sections 153A, 295A and 67 IT Act.

In what transpired, on August 29, Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha held demonstration across Mantola district against the illegal slaughterhouses operating in the area after the Hindu outfit’s volunteers caught two meat loaded trucks in the Hathi ghat area around 4:30 am on Saturday. The Hindu organisation protested, demanding that authorities take prompt action against the illegal cow slaughtering and smuggling carried out in the district unabated.

Following the demonstration, the former BSP leader released a video, in which he allegedly warned Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha workers against entering Mantola district in future. He allegedly made some communally sensitive remarks in his video. The video was widely shared and was condemned on social media sites as users felt that the minister attempted to incite and spread hatred between the people of two communities. After the video went viral, the Mantola Police took cognisance and booked the minister.

Former BSP minister Bashir Chaudhary booked for inciting Muslims against the police

The former BSP minister is not new to controversies. Last month too, a case had been registered against Bashir Chaudhary and others in the Mantola PS. The minister was booked for inciting Muslim goat vendors against the police. In a run-up to Bakri Eid, owing to the pandemic, the Mantola police had not given permission to put up the cattle market in the area. The minister had, however, intervened and ordered the goat sellers to continue doing their business. Disregarding police instructions, Bashir told the goat sellers: “No one needs to run away, no one is selling charas ganja here. No one can even touch you as long as I am here, “. A video of this had gove viral after which the minister was booked.

Was Jailed for domestic violence

He is the same minister who’s wife in 2018 had accused him of domestic violence. In 2013, the former BSP minister was jailed after his pregnant wife had lodged a complaint against him, accusing him of harassment over dowry, unnatural sex and intimidation. Nagma, who is the minister’s third wife, had also accused him of being involved in an illicit relationship with another woman. She alleged that when she objected to his behaviour she was beaten up badly.

In 2002, Bashir Chaudhary was elected MLA on a BSP ticket from the Agra Cantonment assembly seat, and later rose to become a minister in the state cabinet. He got married to Chaudhary Ghazala Lari, an MLA from Deoria and switched loyalties to the Samajwadi Party which gave him a ticket in the following assembly elections, but he lost to a BSP candidate.

Chaudhary then switched over to the Congress. But when he was denied a ticket from Agra South, he contested the 2012 assembly election as a candidate for the Rashtriya Samanta Dal but lost.

Gauhati High Court lifts Assam police’s ban on Assamese TV show Begum Jaan, which allegedly promoted ‘love jihad’

0

Days after the Assam police ordered the ban on the airing of a contentious TV serial ‘Begum Jaan’ for a period of two months, the Gauhati High Court has reportedly set aside the directive by the city Police Commissioner.

In its order, the Assam police had informed that the ban was imposed under the Cable Television Network (Regulation) Act, 1995 for outraging the ‘religious sentiments’ of a particular section of the society. The police intervention came after one Gunajit Adhikary and Hindu groups such as All Assam Brahmin Youth Council, United Trust of Assam and Hindu Jagran Manch filed complaints against the Assamese TV show alleging that it promoted ‘love jihad’.

Procedure not followed while imposing the two-month ban

Following the ban on the TV serial, the channel moved the Guwahati High court seeking quashing of the order. The channel argued that the latest guidelines of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting were not implemented in passing the order. In their defence, the petitioners highlighted how the district-level monitoring committee, which recommended the ban, did not have any representative from the channel. Besides, the channel highlighted that while the Central government can pass such orders, the monitoring committee is a statutory body capable of making ‘suitable recommendation’ after hearing both sides.

The counsel appearing for the channel argued that the authorities did not send complaint copies to the channel before imposing a ban on the airing of Begum Jaan. Taking cognisance of the petitioners’ arguments, Justice Suman Shyam on the Guwahati High set aside the order. He noted that the committee’s decision violated the Cable Tv Networks (Regulation) Act, 1994, and it did not accommodate the views of the channel owners.

Begum Jaan can be retelecast after deletion of objectionable content, rules Court

The Court further directed the channel owners to go ahead with the telecast of the show, after they remove the ‘objectionable content’. The order said that When the managing director of the channel “reaches his personal satisfaction to the effect that any content of the serial which is deemed to be universally objectionable on the ground of violation of communal harmony or which may contain anything that may harm the religious sentiment of any community, is deleted… Subject to observation of the above condition, it would be open for the petitioners to telecast the TV serial ‘Begum Jaan’ in accordance with law”.

Derogatory portrayal of Hindu society, argues civil society and Hindu organisations

The civil society at large and Hindu rights organisations have come forward to express their displeasure regarding the content of the show aired on Rengoni TV, an Assamese general entertainment channel. In a letter addressed to the Tezpur Sadar Thana, a concerned citizen had complained about the alleged derogatory portrayal of Assamese culture and the Hindu religion in ‘Begum Jaan’.

The letter pointed out that the show has tried to legitimise and transmit the ‘epidemic’ of love jihad. “I suspect that the makers of the TV show had received funds to create social unrest. As a citizen, I want the show to be banned and an investigation to be initiated against the director, producer, and writer of the show,” the letter had emphasised.

According to the state chief of Hindu Jagran Manch, Mrinal Kumar Lashkar, the show did not depict the Assamese culture and the Hindu society in the right manner. “It belittles the Brahmins, in the Assamese society already love jihad is there and this serial can trigger it more,” he was quoted as saying.

Chennai: 10 acres of Temple land restored by Collector after encroachment by local mosque committee, mystery over pond continues to persist

Ten acres of land belonging to the Arulmigu Sundara Varadharaja Perumal temple at Virugambakkam locality in Chennai has been recovered by the Collector from a local mosque committee, Swarajya has reported. The recovery was made after two decades of struggle by devotees and temple activists, the report said.

However, the Collector has not responded to a plea to retrieve the pond belonging to the same Temple that could have occupied 2.5 acres. The report says that the pond desilted in 1997 but vested interests made an attempt to take over the pond and the adjoining land, amounting to approximately 14 acres. The land was donated by the Sunguvar Brahmin community.

The report says that the local mosque committee managed to register 3 acres of the occupied land under its name with help from government staff. Soon, Hindu Munnani and temple activists got involved in the matter. A PIL was filed by Temple Worshippers Society President T R Ramesh in the matter and the Madras High Court accepted his arguments and cancelled the registration. The verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court.

The Collector was also asked to investigate the matter. However, representatives of the Mosque Committee did not appear when summoned and the investigation did not yield any fruitful results even after two years. Temple activist Jebamani Mohanraj petitioned the High Court to retrieve the Temple’s pond, unaware of these development.

The judge hearing the matter happened to be the same who had given the earlier ordered an investigation into the Temple land issue. Subsequently, the Collector was directed to immediately complete his investigation and determine whether a pond existed there. Since then, the matter is dragging on in the Courts.

The Collector had delivered a ruling whereby the land was restored to the Taluk Board, which was shown to have ownership of the land as per records dating to 1910. Although the ruling does not restore the land to the Temple, it is seen as upholding the ownership of the temple. However, no ruling has been passed with regards to the pond. Swarajya reported that Mohanraj has again petitioned the Madras high Court over the matter.

Court grants bail to radical Islamist and Newslaundry ‘journalist’ Sharjeel Usmani based on ‘good academic record’

0

Radical Islamist and Newslaundry journalist Sharjeel Usmani has been granted bail by a local court in Aligarh on Friday.

According to the reports, the AMU student Sharjeel Usmani, who was arrested on charges of instigating riots during the anti-CAA protests, was granted bail by a sessions court in Aligarh. He was arrested by the UP police on July 29 for his alleged role in violent anti-CAA protests.

Special Judge Narendra Singh, granting bail to Usmani, noted that the AMU student had a very good academic record and was not arrested from the scene of the crime. According to the judge, no incriminating evidence was found on him at the time of the arrest.

The court not only took his academic credentials into cognizance but also noted that the accused had also written articles while granting bail in two cases.

“Keeping the accused further in jail will definitely serve no purpose at all. Therefore, in consideration of the undergone period in jail by the accused and his academic records, inter alia, the case is fit and proper to grant bail to the accused,” Judge Narendra Singh, Aligarh said according to Bar and Bench.

“The academic records of the accused manifests that he has been a bright student. He has written many articles which are also available on records”, the judge said.

The court also granted bail to Sharjeel Usmani as one of the other accused in the case had already been granted bail in the past.

Sharjeel Usmani’s propaganda war to tarnish India’s reputation abroad

Sharjeel Usmani, one of the main architects of the anti-CAA riots in AMU, was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on July 10. Usmani is accused in different cases under various sections of the IPC in connection with the anti-CAA protests at AMU in December last year.

Newslaundry columnist Sharjeel Usmani, in the past, had also glorified Islamist Shahrukh Pathan, who is accused of opening fire on Delhi police during the anti-Hindu riots that had broken out in the national capital in the last week of February this year.

Earlier, Usmani had no qualms in associating himself with those accused of making provocative and seditious speeches under the pretext of carrying out peaceful protests against the CAA. The ideological compatriot of Sharjeel Imam, Sharjeel Usmani, has announced his intentions of using Muslims as the fifth columns in the country to undermine Indian interests.

Shortly after Imam’s arrest, Usmani waged a propaganda war on the country to smear its India’s image abroad. Sharjeel Usmani announced that he, along with two of his friends, will put English subtitles on the videos of ‘hate crimes’ against Muslims in India to circulate them among social media influencers for wider global reach.

After the incendiary speeches of Sharjeel Imam had gone viral on social media, Sharjeel Usmani had rushed in to defend him. He had urged Muslims to not disassociate themselves from the JNU scholar and declared that he was ‘in this together’ with the radical Islamist. Sharjeel Imam also played a critical role in organizing the Shaheen Bagh protests and weaponizing blockades in order to make the state bend to Islamist demands was his idea.
