Home Minister assures safety to health care professionals amid attacks, Indian Medical Association calls off ‘White Alert’ and ‘Black Day’ protests

0

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday assured the health workers of security on behalf of the Central Government amidst the incidents of attack on health workers in several parts of the country. While interacting with a group of doctors and Indian Medical Association (IMA) members through video conferencing, the Home minister appreciated the contribution of health workers in combatting the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic.

The Indian Medical Association had scheduled a symbolic protest named as ‘White Alert’ against the attacks and assault on health workers today onwards. But the home minister while assuring the security to the health workers appealed to them not to carry forward the symbolic protest. He said, “the government is with doctors”.

Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted, “Safety and dignity of our doctors at their workplace is non-negotiable. It is our collective responsibility to ensure conducive atmosphere for them at all times.”

After the meeting with the Home Minister, the Indian Medical Associated agreed to withdraw the symbolic ‘White Alert’ protest.

‘White Alert’ protest by Indian Medical Association

Amid the multiple attacks on health workers across the country especially during coronavirus epidemic situation, the IMA had scheduled protests against assaults on doctors and other medical staff while performing duties. The IMA had called for a nationwide symbolic protest and urged the doctors and hospitals across the country to light candles on April 22 as a mark of protest. The IMA is demanding the centre to formulate a law for the protection of Medical professionals from attack on duty.

A notice issued by IMA read as, “If the government fails to enact Central Law on violence against doctors and hospitals even after White Alert, IMA will declare Black Day on April 23. Our legitimate needs for safe workplaces have to be met. Abuse and violence should stop immediately. White Alert to the nation – All doctors and hospitals to light a candle at 9 pm on 22 April, as protest and vigil.” But after the meeting with the home minister, the protest was withdrawn by IMA.

A statement issued by IMA said that the home minister is very much aware and concerned about the attacks, and assured them that the govt is coming out with legislation to address the safety and dignity of doctors and other healthcare workers. Both the home minister and the health minister appealed the IMA to defere the symbolic protest during the meeting. Amit Shah also added that during such a period of global crisis, such protests will send out a bad signal of the unity of our country and damage the image of the country internationally.

Agreeing to the appeal of the union ministers, the IMA decided to withdraw the white alert protest on 22 April and Black day protest on 23 April to maintain unity and integrity of the country.

Assault on health workers

There have been several instances of attacks on health workers especially after the outburst of coronavirus cases due to religious congregation in Nizamuddin Markaz. There have been several reports of an assault on doctors in many areas, mostly in minority dominated areas.

After people who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat in March were quarantined, several members had misbehaved with doctors and others working in quarantine centres. They had spat on doctors, roamed around naked in their wards, and made vulgar comments towards female workers.

Later, healthcare teams visiting various localities in several states for coronavirus survey were attacked by locals. People in those places had resisted being checked by the medical teams, and had attacked them preventing them to transport Coronavirus positive patients or their close contacts to hospitals and quarantine centres. Dozens of such cases of assault on healthcare teams have emerged from several states in the last couple of weeks, where stones were pelted on doctors and police teams accompanying them, and ambulances and police vehicles were damaged by mobs.

Ordinance to end violence against health workers

In a related development, union government today brought an ordinance to end violence against health workers amid the Coronavirus outbreak. The new ordinance has provisions to punish those who attack health workers with jail term and penalty. An amendment in this regard will be brought to the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 making such a crime cognizable and non-bailable. The investigation in such assaults will be completed within 30 days and accused could face jail term from 3 months to 5 years with a penalty of Rs 50,000 which could go up to Rs 2 lakh.

Opportunities for the Indian economy after the Coronavirus pandemic

The world economy is changing and if we can adapt to the changing world after the Coronavirus outbreak, we can be in an advantageous position. Every new change opens up a pitfall for a few while bringing new opportunities for others. India as a country has done good work to develop and strengthen infrastructure. The Coronavirus pandemic is a game-changer which is bound to alter the economic situation of the world. I consider this pandemic as an opportunity for India rather than a setback. Definitely the pandemic has been a big loss for human society but we have to move on and make tough decisions not only to recover but to excel in this changing world.

To understand the actions to be taken we need to first understand the socioeconomic changes bound to transpire after the Pandemic comes under control. Although there will be few hiccups in supply chain reestablishment and that also needs immediate attention but that will be short-lived. So let’s focus on macroeconomic, microeconomic, psychoeconomic and socioeconomic implications post COVID-19 outbreak.

Increasing criticism for China and a potential loss of consumer base

For any economy, the most important part is the faith of its customers but after the Coronavirus pandemic, China has lost the faith of the world where the countries for themselves are helpless at the discretion of China for medical and other supplies. Even the doubt that this virus was cultured in a Wuhan lab will always make the world look at China with suspicious eyes. This is for sure that now the world will be looking at a second option who can work like China in the manufacturing sector. India is already working with most of these international companies for fulfilling their IT and digital requirements.

Lack of press freedom and transparency

Now the whole world is looking forward to trading with countries which are apparently transparent in their actions rather than a country like China which doesn’t have unchained press/media. It’s not easy to understand the real situation of China by Chinese news agencies. Earlier the world was fighting with closed economies and closed markets so that all global business communities can have equal opportunities in the global marketplace, but now a new requirement has come up which is unchained media. Any country which does not have free news media can be potentially inappropriate to trade with and can prove vulnerable for the trading countries at any point in time. On the other hand, India is a vibrant democracy and it’s really easy to understand India through its news telecasts. I just mean to say that the countries who have less opportunity to hide something will be at advantage.

The ‘Just In Time’ philosophy will no longer work

The world was talking about ‘Just in Time’ but now they have realized that a substantial amount of inventory is required. Everyone has seen the importance of inventory and pipeline of finished goods. This will again push the global demand of products and industries like pharmaceuticals, Medical equipment, Food Products, Groceries, Sanitizing chemicals and equipment.  Although this requirement will be temporary, it will continue to affect the demand for at least two years which is positive news for countries which were worried about an economic slowdown

Psychology to overcome

The economic slowdown and economic growth both are bound by the psychology of the human population and business communities. When people start thinking that the economy is slowing down they stop investing and spending, this slows down the rotation of money and results in a recession and vice versa.  Most of the countries have faced a big setback due to the coronavirus pandemic and when there is a setback every business will work towards recovering the loss which can be utilized up to a large extent to boost the economy. This will bring a few challenges but big opportunities for countries like India.

Economic polarisation

There can be no possibility of China becoming a world power but one thing is sure, that China is definitely dreaming for the same. China is able to dream because it is continuously increasing and enhancing its capability to produce everything that has the potential to be sold anywhere in the world. This brings China at an advantageous position and if China and Russia together plan not to accept the US Dollar as a reserve currency then there will be a big change in the world economy because the world cannot avoid China at this moment. This is not my fantasy, even economic analysts like Charles Wallace are speaking on the same lines. After the Coronavirus outbreak, it is an alarm for western countries and the economists of these countries would be thinking on the same lines.

This will definitely bring up India as an option for becoming a manufacturing hub. To utilize this situation we need to compete with China on the lines of cost of production and quality because the world is an open market and political will can influence business up to some extent only.

Now what we need to do? and the answer to this question is present in following points:

Skill Development, labour management and government support

Here I want to start with a question.  what is the use of investing in any scheme which doesn’t uplift people’s lifestyle?  The government should support the change in people’s lives so that they can become self-dependent but schemes like MANREGA are rather focussing to reduce the challenges in people’s life by giving them no opportunity to grow and are making them more dependent on government support. Our focus should always be to bring up beneficiaries of government schemes to become contributors to the economy. We should develop schemes where the Government can provide skilled labour for industries. When we are already paying for the workforce and they are contributing to most of the unproductive work why don’t we provide these labour to industries? The situation of many industrial units is also worrisome because they are getting most of their labour from unorganized labour contractors. We cannot leave our workforce in the hands of unorganized labour contractors. Now the time has come when India should focus on complete labour takeover and industries will have to use the labour provided by the government.

On the other hand, we are providing support to new manufacturing units in the form of subsidies on loans taken by these companies. Time has come when we should rethink the use of subsidies. The objective of most of these subsidies is to generate employment opportunities. Now, what if the Government starts supporting these industries by providing them with skilled and unskilled labour instead of giving them direct monetary benefits. This can be a big help to the industry during the phase of initial set up. This is also logical because the workforce is directly getting benefited by the same. Later on, after the initial phase, the labour wages have to be deposited to the Government agency and these labour forces continue working for the industry but getting a salary from the government. A complete working plan needs to be developed where all these funds of MANREGA and subsidies can be clubbed up and used for the same purpose. This way the government will actually be paying for employment generation rather than adding money to someone’s p&l.

Convertible loan Instruments

Banks can launch convertible loan schemes for new industries where banks will have the facility to convert their loan into transferable shares after a certain period of time. This will promote banks to take more risk which is important to boost Indian economy because this way they will be able to recover their NPA from successful ventures and options can be given to these successful ventures to buy back their shares on peariodical basis.

Banks’ involvement into Business

It is seen that most of the NPA happen not because of the failure in the planning of a venture but due to the change in the plan which is sometimes hidden from the banks. The funds are not actually used for the purpose they were given by banks. If banks have an option to employ an industry expert at their customers’ place, the banks are able to participate in day-to-day activities of the companies. Thus, they will have better control over their invested money. Where every bank can have asset management staff having expertise in certain industry segments monitoring the business and ensuring the minimal possibility of NPA, the industry will also be benefited by an experienced advisory from the banker. These asset managers will not only check but can also be of help when a company needs money for certain requirements and they can facilitate swift short term loans to boost the health of their customers.

Export oriented business

The government should promote export-oriented industries and also monitor the international demand and finding avenues for the consumption of manufactured products. We should be working on this with a very practical approach where we can produce whatever is in demand rather than a scattered approach where the business is started with the fantasies of a business person. If we have experts in government agencies their expertise should be utilized to make successful business people in the country and fulfil the demand of products. Export-oriented industries should be rewarded for their contribution to Indian ‘Balance of payment’ records.

Conclusion

If a discussion can be started on these lines then we can reach towards taking some concrete step. No doubt in-depth planning is required around this basic theory to convert it into a working plan, but if executed it has the potential to change the future of India and the world.

Modi govt brings an ordinance to end violence against health workers, upto 7 years imprisonment for attackers

In a significant measure to stop the attacks against the healthcare workers in the country, Modi Government has brought an ordinance to end violence against health workers.

Amidst the ongoing assaults on the frontline health workers, policemen during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, the central government has brought in a timely ordinance to deter the unruly mob. The new ordinance has provisions to punish the assaulters with imprisonment from 6 months to 7 years.

“Health workers who are trying to save the country from this epidemic are unfortunately facing attacks. No incident of violence or harassment, against them will be tolerated,” Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said while briefing the media. He further added that an amendment will be brought to Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 making such a crime cognizable and non-bailable. The investigation will be done within 30 days and accused could face jail term from 3 months to 5 years with a penalty of Rs 50,000 which could go up to Rs 2 lakh.

Union Minister Javadekar further added that the daily health briefings will be now shifted to four days a week. Press releases and cabinet briefings will be on alternate days.

Demand for a special law from IMA

Earlier, Indian Medical Association members had demanded a special central law against violence on doctors, nurses, health care workers and hospitals by an ordinance, and implement it on a priority basis.

Last week, the Resident Doctors Association of AIIMS had also written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah urging the government to implement the ‘Health Services Personnel and Clinical Establishments (Prohibition of Violence and Damage to Property), Bill’ amidst the ongoing attacks on doctors by unruly patients.

Even some states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala had brought in such laws to protect healthcare workers from mob attacks. An ordinance has been brought in and shall be implemented after receiving the President’s sanction.

Violence against healthcare workers, policemen

At a time when frontline workers are risking their lives to limit the spread of the Chinese pandemic, there have been concerted attacks against them by many mobs, many of who refuse to cooperate in the treatment. There have been reports of Tablighi Jamaat members molesting nurses in UP, defecating in corridors in Delhi and even spitting at the healthcare workers. The Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi’s Nizamuddin has emerged as a hot spot contributing to approximately 30% of coronavirus cases in India.

From attacking medical teams, policemen who were searching for Tablighi members who had attended the religious congregation to check them for possible infection, to spiting on doctors at isolation centres, to roaming naked in their ward and making lewd gestures for female staff, the some unruly patients have been displaying extreme crassness.

Coronavirus in India

The Wuhan originated coronavirus which affects the respiratory system primarily spreads through droplets generated from an infected person is spreading rapidly across the world. In India, 19984 people have been infected by the Wuhan coronavirus so far. 640 people have died while 3870 people have been recovered and discharged.

The Modi government had implemented a complete lockdown till 14 April but taking into account the current situation because of the religious congregation of Tablighi Jamaat that led to a sudden spike in the total cases, the lockdown has been extended till May 3.

Uttarakhand: Kedarnath temple to open on 29 Apil, only 16 people including chief priest to remain present due to lockdown orders

Only 16 people including the chief priest will remain present at the opening ceremony of the sacred portals of Kedarnath Temple on April 29. Darshan for the devotees will not be allowed at the temple as of now, said Mangesh Ghildiyal, the District Magistrate of Rudraprayag.

The board of the temple will open as per the original mahurat (auspicious time) at 6.10 am on April 29, but owing to the novel coronavirus pandemic, only the head priest, Bhimashankar Linga, along with 15 others would be present then at the sacred portal while its gates would remain shut for the devotees. The decision was taken yesterday (April 21) in a meeting with temple committee officials attended by Kedarnath Rawal (head priest) Bhimashankar Linga, Senior Tirth Purohit, Vedpathis and Acharya and other important members of Panchagai Samiti at the Panchkedar Gaddisthal Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath.

On the other hand, the reopening date for Badrinath Temple will be May 15, as announced on Monday by the state government authorities, as the Rawal (head priest) of the shrine is still in Kerala due to the ongoing lockdown. As soon as he reaches the state once the lockdown is lifted, he will have to stay under quarantine for two weeks. Hence, the reopening date has been postponed.

Would Antonia Maino (Sonia Gandhi) have remained silent if Christian padres were killed? Arnab asks on news debate over Palghar mob-lynching of Sadhus

Mounting a searing attack against the interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the Editor-in-chief of the Republic TV, Arnab Goswami questioned if she would have maintained the silence she is exhibiting today had Christian padres been killed instead of Hindu sadhus in the horrifying lynching incident in Palghar.

The debate was aired on Republic Bharat. A YouTube video of the same can be watched here.

“I would like to ask the country, would the country had remained silent if Maulvis or Christian Padres would have been targeted the way Hindu saints were? Would Italy’s Antonia Maino (Sonia Gandhi) have remained silent then? I would like to tell you, if the victims had been Christian padres, Sonia Gandhi, who had come from Rome, would not have remained close-mouthed on the issue,” Arnab said.

Arnab further alleged that he feels Mrs Gandhi is deep down happy that Hindu saints have been killed by the frenzied mob in a state that is governed by her party. He also contended that Mrs Gandhi would prepare and send a report to Italy saying she had been successful in eliminating Hindu saints in a state where she had formed the government.

“I am telling you. She would prepare and send a report to Italy in which she would state where she had formed a government in a state, and she is getting Hindu saints killed there. And she would receive applause from there (Italy),” the Republic TV Editor-in-chief said to the panellists on his show.

Arnab Goswami, known for not mincing his words, also slammed the media channels who have fought shy of covering the gruesome murder of the Hindu sadhus by a rampaging mob in Gadchinchle village of Palghar. He questioned why the media outlets are silent on the cold-blooded murder of the Hindu saints.

Palghar Sadhus lynched

The blood-curdling incident happened on 16th April 2020 in Palghar, Maharashtra. Two Sadhus, 70-year-old Kalpavrishka Giri Maharaj and 35-year-old Sushil Giri Maharaj along with their driver 30-year-old Nilesh Telgade associated with the Juna Akhara were on their way from Mumbai to Gujarat to give Samadhi to another Sadhu. At Gadakchinchale village, a wild and frenzied crowd of over more than 100 people attacked them. The villagers deemed them as thieves and started attacking them. The police claim that their team which had rushed to the spot to rescue the 70-year-old man also came under the attack of the violent mob.

Horrifying visuals of the Palghar lynching incident where a mob of over 100 people killed two Sadhus and their driver even as the Police stood there as mute spectators, just letting the barbaric act unfold, had gone viral on the social media.

People of the Sadhu community say that this village is tribals dominated and most of them are Christians while some are Muslims. Some even say that the police, out of fear of the tribals, handed over the Sadhus to the mob which later beat up those Sadhus to death with sticks. Reportedly, when the tribals of a particular religion started beating up the Sadhus, the police did not intervene.

TMC throws one troll under the bus, but is tight lipped about its most famous troll

On Tuesday, a TMC supporter, live on Republic TV debate, went on to insult the Marwari community by referring to them as ‘dishonest community that indulges in black-marketing’. However, hours after the debate was aired, TMC leaders took to social media to disassociate themselves from the said TMC supporter and condemned Republic TV for ‘misleading’ people.

TMC’s official handle also accused Republic of giving ‘fringe’ individuals space as TMC supporters.

Accept, while TMC threw the bespectacled TMC supporter under the bus for airing his views against Marwaris on national television, there is another TMC troll who regularly indulges in abusing Marwaris and Gujaratis, especially the ones living in Bengal on social media. Garga Chatterjee, who other than being a TMC supporter also identifies himself as ‘brain scientist’, has regularly indulged in abusing these communities. Some of his sample tweets are here:

TMC troll Chatterjee likes to give out cryptic clues to abuse communities. This is a regular feature. He refers to Hindi as ‘Gutkha language’. His hate for Marwari and Gujarati community has reached psychotic levels.

Amusingly, despite spending almost 60% of his waking hours hating on ‘Dhokla, Bhujia, Gutkha and Bania’, Chatterjee wants people to believe he doesn’t really think about them.

He likes to refer to PM Modi as ‘Dhokla in chief’. Following the TMC clarification, many on social media pointed out the hypocrisy that such tweets condemning the abuse are perhaps only on the surface since Garga Chatterjee continues to have a free rein.

TMC, however, has chosen to be quiet about Chatterjee. No condemnation of anything he says while hating on other non-Bengali communities on social media.

Who is Garga Chatterjee?

Garga Chatterjee, a vocal supporter of the TMC and an abusive troll has a habit of raking up issues to create polarisation on linguistic lines. Earlier, Union Minister Piyush Goyal had announced Kolkata city metro’s decision of including information in Bengali in its smart cards. Taking an opportunity to target ‘Hindi imposition’ Garga had interpreted the tweet as the ‘Hindi imperial centre’ had now sensed the power of ‘Bengali resistance’. He once appeared on an English news channel’s Hindi debate show and insisted on speaking in Bangla in response to others speaking in Hindi. This despite the fact that he knew the show was to be in Hindi. Recently, he was found spreading hate against non-Bengalis and giving thinly veiled threats of violence against them.

CID takes over the Palghar lynching case, Maharashtra home minister says no Muslim arrested in the crime

The Crime Investigation Department(CID) of Maharashtra police has taken over the investigation in the Palghar lynching incident of two Sadhus and their driver last week.

The Maharashtra government had earlier ordered a high-level probe and suspended two policemen who showed complete dereliction of duty. Yesterday, the National Human Rights Commission had issued a notice to DGP Maharashtra mentioning that the Palghar incident was indicative of complete ‘negligence’ by the public servant. NHRC asked for a detailed report within four weeks including the details of action taken against the culprits and relief granted to the kin of the deceased.

Meanwhile, a Public Intrest Litigation has also been filed in the Bombay High Court on Tuesday by lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava over the Palghar lynching incident. The PIL seeks a CBI/SIT inquiry and a time-bound trial in a fast track court.

Plaghar Mob Lynching incident

On 16th April 2020 two Sadhus associated with the Juna Akhara, 70-year-old Kalpavrishka Giri Maharaj, and 35-year-old Sushil Giri Maharaj along with their driver 30-year-old Nilesh Telgadewere were on their way from Mumbai to Gujarat to give Samadhi to another Sadhu. At Gadakchinchale village, a wild and frenzied crowd of over more than 100 people attacked them. The villagers deemed them as thieves and started attacking them. The police claim that their team which had rushed to the spot to rescue the 70-year-old man also came under the attack of the violent mob.

But later videos emerged which completely debunked the claim of police, as it was seen that the sadhus were in the custody of the police, but the police personnel handed them over to the mob. The mob then proceeded them to beat them to death in front of the policemen.

Arrests made in the case

The authorities on Sunday filed an FIR against the villagers and 110 people including 9 juveniles have been arrested so far. 101 have been sent to judicial custody till April 30 while the juveniles have been sent to the juvenile shelter home.

Today Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh released the list of 101 adults arrested in connection with the case. He also mentioned that he is specifically releasing it to those who were trying to make it a communal issue, perhaps responding to some allegations that the sadhus were attacked by Muslims.

The home minister sad that they were arrested within eight hours of the incident. He also added that rumors child lifters roaming in the area were doing the rounds, implying that the them locals may have attacked the sadhus assuming them to be child lifters.

Central government team fears that 42,000 people in Mumbai will contract coronavirus by April 30: Report

0

According to a report by Marathi news channel ABP Majha, the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) that visited Mumbai on Tuesday fears that by the end of April, 42,000 people in the financial capital of the country are likely to be contracted with the coronavirus infection.

The grim prediction comes a day after the team of Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visited Mumbai to take the stock of the situation in the metropolis. The team visited Kasturba hospital and the headquarter of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to oversee the medical treatments of the patients and preparations undertaken by the authorities to combat the novel coronavirus. The central team’s biggest concern is to contain the epidemic before monsoons as it fears that the rainy season in Mumbai can exacerbate the situation in the country’s financial hub.

As per a Maharashtra government official, a team led by Manoj Joshi, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing and Industries, visited Mumbai to review the measures initiated by the local and state government to battle the coronavirus.

Another IMCT team comprising of 5 members and led by Sanjay Malhotra, Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Power, reviewed the COVID-19 situation in Pune, another Maharashtrian city worst-hit by the coronavirus outbreak.

Read- Changed BMC test strategy could make the number of Coronavirus cases in Mumbai appear artificially lower

According to health minister data, with 5218 positive coronavirus cases as of 8 AM today, Maharashtra continues with the highest number of people infected with the Chinese virus. Out of if, 3,451 cases have been reported from Mumbai city and Mumbai suburban areas. The total coronavirus positives in Mumbai Metropolitan Region is 4077, which includes nearby areas like Thane, Raigad and Palghar. Pune has 716 coronavirus positive cases.

Mamata Banerjee relents after intense standoff against IMCT team

Amidst the deadlock over the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT)’s visit to West Bengal, the Mamata Banerjee government on Tuesday finally agreed to permit the central team to make an on-ground assessment of the situation in the state. The permission from the TMC supremo came almost after 30 hours since the Central team had reached Kolkata.

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee had written a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which she alleged that sending of the inter-ministerial central teams (IMCT) into several districts–Kolkata, Howrah, Medinipur East, 24 Parganas North, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri–is tantamount to a “unilateral action” by PM Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah.

Rajasthan: Migrant workers paint walls of quarantine centre in return for good hospitality by villagers

In a heart-warming gesture, migrant workers made use of their isolation time in innovative activities such as sprucing up a quarantine facility where they are residing amidst the nationwide coronavirus lockdown. Migrants labours from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and other places of the country were so pleased with the hospitality provided by the villagers in Rajasthan’s Sikar that they started painting the walls of the school building which was turned into a quarantine centre to house them.

According to the reports, migrant workers in Palsana, Rajasthan, wanting to utilise the excess time at their disposal in productive activities, decided to take up the initiative of adorning the walls of the school and set an example for others to follow. The workers staying at the quarantine facility wanted to do something in return for the generosity bestowed by the villagers and the village sarpanch for them during their stay in quarantine.

To reciprocate the good arrangements made by the villagers, the migrant workers set out to beautify the quarantine facility they were staying in. They asserted that they wanted to add a good memory to the quarantine centre in such trying times and thus decided to airbrush the school with new colours. The sarpanch of the village and the school staff arranged colours on their request. The labourers then started painting school.

Reportedly, the school was not painted for the last nine years. The workers who decided to embellish the school with revitalising colours refused to take money for their services. They said that it was a goodwill gesture by them for the services and good care they have received by the locals and the authorities at the quarantine centre.
