Pakistan Minister celebrates AAP victory in Delhi elections, tries to mock PM Modi

A day after Aam Aadmi Party won the Delhi assembly elections, the party’s success seems to be resonating in Pakistan as some section of the parody country’s ruling establishment have now expressed their delight over the Arvind Kejriwal-led party’s victory.

Fawad Chaudhry, one of the most deranged men in entire Pakistan, on Tuesday took to Twitter to express his happiness for Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party winning Delhi assembly elections, for some unknown reason. Not only Fawad Chaudhry celebrated the victory of AAP but also mocked Prime Minister Modi for BJP’s loss in the Delhi elections.

Taking to Twitter a day after Delhi elections were announced, Pakistan Science and Technology Minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhry tweeted, “Aww yeah Kiya Hua #BecharaModi”.

Pakistan, which has developed an annoying habit of poking its nose in India’s internal matters, unsurprisingly celebrates every time whenever any anti-Modi front wins elections in the country.

His strange obsession over the assembly elections of a semi-state in the neighbouring country was perfectly explained by a Twitter user through the video of a dog.

On Saturday, soon after voting to Delhi elections concluded and the exit polls predicted landslide majority to Aam Admi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal, Chaudhry had jumped into the scene to rejoice at the Delhi exit poll results and had appeared ecstatic over the defeat of the “extremist regime” of PM Modi.

The dull-witted Pakistani Minister has a strange habit of poking his face into India’s internal matters and deliberately getting mocked and embarrassed for his deranged acts, especially on social media.

Ever since PM Modi returned to power by winning a spectacular victory in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Pakistani minister has been lamenting over it. After the BJP won a massive mandate in the 2019 general election, Fawad Chaudhry was so anguished that he had stored his anger and had lashed out at the Congress prince months later, alleging that Rahul Gandhi was not ‘man enough’ to win the elections.

Fawad Hussain had tweeted, “Had you been a leader and a man enough would have taken a just stand on #Pulwama Today world would have been better sans #ModiMadness Your coward politics allowed India to become a prey of Fascism and Extremism”.

Fawad Chaudhary has time and again displayed that his IQ level is beyond redemption as for more than once now he has turned out to be the favourite bunny of Indian social media activists.

Umpteen number of times in the past, Hussain has entertained users on Twitter and those attending his rallies. The low IQ Pakistani minister had fallen for pranks many times. Indian Right Wing meme-makers have time and again played pranks on the poor Pakistani minister.

Even in his own country, Fawad Choudhry often becomes the butt of jokes and insults. A fellow parliamentarian had once called him a dog that was tied in his house inside the national assembly.

Shiv Sena MP introduces a Constitution Amendment Bill to check population growth

Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Anil Desai has moved a private member bill in the upper house proposing the introduction of incentives to promote limiting the number of children to two per family.

Reportedly, the Shiv Sena MP has introduced a Constitutional Amendment Bill to introduce a new provision – Article 47A into Part IV of the Constitution of India to incentivise people who keep their family limited to two children and seeks to withdraw every concession from people who fail to adhere to the small family norm.

“47A. The State shall promote small family norms by offering incentives in taxes, employment, education etc. to its people who keep their family limited to two children and shall withdraw every concession from and deprive such incentives to those not adhering to small family norm, to keep the growing population under control,” the new article 47A proposed by Shiv Sena MP reads.

Citing the frightening population growth in India as the reason for proposing the amendment, Shiv Sena MP in his bill said, “The fact that the population of India has already crossed over 125 crores is really frightening. The country has doubled its population in just forty years and is expected to unseat China as the world’s most populated country in the next couple of decades, by the year 2050.”

“As per the UN report, India, Nigeria and Pakistan are the countries which have the highest rate of growth of population. India’s current yearly growth rate is 1.02 per cent. The country as a whole has a population density of 416 people per square kilometre, which ranks 31st in the World. Despite the fact that we have framed a National Population Control Policy, we are the second-most populous country in the world,” the bill reads.

The bill further argues, “Population explosion will cause many problems for our future generations. We have to be concerned about the population explosion. The Centre, as well as State Governments, should launch schemes to tackle it. Our natural resources are extremely overburdened. The rate of growth of any country is directly related to the size of its population.”

“Natural resources like air, water, land, woods etc. are subjected to overexploitation because of overpopulation. Today, there is a greater need to keep a strong check on the increase of our population.”

The Shiv Sena MP called for encouraging people to keep the family small by offering tax concessions, priority in social benefit schemes, and school admissions. “Today, there is a greater need to keep a strong check on the increase of our population,” said Shiv Sena MP.

He also suggests that measures may be introduced to discourage people from having more children, by withdrawing tax concessions, imposing heavy taxes, and by making other punitive provisions for violations.

Speaking from the ramparts of Red Fort about population explosion in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence speech last year had stressed on the issue of ‘population explosion’ and had urged the country to work towards family planning, smaller families to ensure that dreams of children get fulfilled.

PM Modi had insisted on necessary of population stabilisation in the country. PM Modi had said keeping families small is “an act of patriotism”.

“I want you to do proper family planning and you will naturally see that a smaller family can be happier and more content. Your family will be away from diseases, will have more resources,” the Prime Minister had said.

On the lines of PM Modi’s idea, the premier government policy think-tank Niti Aayog had also held a national consultative meeting titled “Realising the vision of population stabilisation: leaving no one behind” to discuss a roadmap for population stabilisation and to analyse key gaps in India’s family planning programmes.

NRC: Centre says excluded children won’t be sent to detention camps, provided their parents feature in the list

While answering a question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Nityananda Rai, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, informed the House that the children whose names did not find a place in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam will not be sent to detention centres, provided their parents are included in the final list.

The Minister of State clarified that there are approved standard operating procedures in place to deal with such cases. He added that specific provisions have been made for children whose parents have been included in the final NRC draft while they have been excluded.

Rai said in a written reply, “The Attorney General for India stated on January 6, 2020, before the Supreme Court that the children of parents included in NRC, Assam, will not be separated from their parents and sent to the detention centre in Assam pending decision on the application.”

While the initial NRC draft had identified over 40 lakh suspected illegal immigrants, the final draft in August had only over 19 lakh names.

NRC was conducted in Assam under the supervision of the Supreme Court. The final list published in August 2019 did not feature the names of 19 lac people. After the Citizenship Amendment Act was passed by the Parliament, the left-liberal Jamat cast aspersions in the minds of the people and fuelled the mobility of violent mobs and Islamic supremacist protests.

Delhi: Shots fired at AAP MLA Naresh Yadav’s convoy, 1 party volunteer dead

Hours after winning the Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed that unidentified men on Tuesday night opened fire on the convoy of its MLA-elect Naresh Yadav and volunteers while they were returning from a temple visit.

According to the reports, at least one volunteer Ashok Mann died due to bullet injuries and one has been injured, AAP tweeted on Wednesday.

Reportedly, the attackers opened fire at Naresh Yadav’s convoy while it was passing through Kishangarh area. Seven rounds were fired at the Mehrauli MLA-elect convoy.

Reacting to the attack, Naresh Yadav said the incident is unfortunate. “The incident is really unfortunate. I don’t know the reason behind the attack but it happened all of a sudden. Around 4 rounds were fired. The vehicle I was in was attacked. I am sure if police inquire properly they will be able to identify the assailant,” Naresh Yadav said.

Naresh Yadav, who was accompanied by volunteers, was returning from a temple visit from Mehrauli late last night when the incident happened. Naresh Yadav had won from Mehrauli assembly seat.

“The convoy of Yadav was attacked. Unidentified men opened fire at the convoy when Yadav was returning from the temple after results. A party volunteer Ashok has been killed,” senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said. Singh has slammed Delhi police and has called this attack the murder of law and order situation in Delhi.

The incident reportedly happened near Fortis Hospital. AAP spokesperson Ankit Lal has stated that miscreants from 1 car had fired shots and police was present in the area.

The Delhi Police on Wednesday registered an FIR in connection with the firing incident. Delhi Police said that investigation is on and working on all angles to find out the motive behind firing the shots at Naresh Yadav’s convoy.

As per latest reports, Delhi police has stated that Yadav was not the target of the shooter and the killer had come to specifically kill the man (AAP volunteer Ashok Mann).

The AAP won in 62 constituencies with a voting percentage of 53.57, while the BJP got eight seats with a vote share of 38.51 per cent. The Congress drew a blank for the second successive assembly elections in Delhi.

Dalit man converted to Christianity alleges girlfriend’s family made him convert to Islam and undergo circumcision as a precondition for marriage, later disown him

A 25-year-old Dalit man who had embraced Christianity, Bobbili Bhaskar, has alleged that his girlfriend’s family made him convert to Islam, undergo circumcision and changed dietary habits only to have his marriage proposal turned down by girl’s father. A resident of the Vikarabad district of Telangana, Bhaskar, now known as Mohammad Ahmed Hunain, has approached the State Human Rights Commission complaining about the girl’s family.

In a letter to the State Human Rights Commission dated 18 January 2020, Bhaskar has appealed to question the girl in its presence, and direct the police to lodge a first information report (FIR) against her family. The letter says that the station house officer (SHO) of Vikarabad police station isn’t taking any action against Nikhath Sultana (his girlfriend), her father Saleemuddin, and three men who beat him up, namely Asif, Siraj and Lateef.

It further said that after Bhaskar and Nikhath, who knew each other for the last 11 years, turned major, Bhaskar approached her father. He accepted the relationship but asked Bhaskar to convert to Islam. When Bhaskar approached her family for the wedding after his conversion and fulfilling all the pre-set conditions, they “behaved with me as (if) I am a stranger to them and don’t know them”, wrote Bhaskar in the letter to the Human Rights Commission.

Bhaskar approached some elders in the Muslim community for intervention. They asked the two parties to meet them together for an amicable solution, but the girl’s parents did not turn up. Three men from her family also thrashed him in a public park, the letter says.

According to a report by Swarajya Magazine, Bhaskar, went on to obtain a religious conversion certificate from a local Muslim organisation. He then underwent the circumcision.

The conversion certificate, dated 10 June 2019, was issued by one ‘Muslim Welfare Association Tandur’ (Tandur is an area in Vikarabad). It mentions Bhaskar’s “Islamic name” as Mohammed Abdul Hunain.

Speaking to Swarajya, Bhaskar divulged that the circumcision was carried out by a Muslim surgeon in a Vikarabad-based hospital. He told that he regretted the decision as it has left him in perpetual pain and trauma.

“It was traumatising. It still hurts,” said Bhaskar who asserts that he would have never taken this step had this not been a precondition set by the girl’s family.

The atrocities, however, did not stop at this. The girl’s family further demanded that Bhaskar, who was a strict vegetarian should now become a regular meat-eater. In hope to get married to his lover, Bhaskar, from a Church-goer, readily became a five-time namaazi.

So committed Bhaskar was to win over his girlfriend’s family that he would shoot videos of him reciting Islamic prayers and send them to her family, divulged the devastated man to Swarjya.

However, four months after his conversion when Bhaskar approached the girl’s father, the later refused to even recognise him. Though Bhaskar gave ample proof that he had been religiously observing the Muslim way of life, he could not convince the girl’s father for getting the two married.

Bhaskar kept persuading him for weeks, but the father continued to be unresponsive towards him, he says. Three men from their family beat him up when he tried to get the community involved. Bhaskar approached the local police, but the cops refused to intervene, he says.

Left with no other option, Bhaskar has now approached the State Human Rights Commission.

Pictures of ‘Baby Kejriwal’ donning AAP’s white cap and muffler take internet by the storm

As the counting of votes continued in Delhi Tuesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) tweeted a photo of a toddler dressed as Party chief, Arvind Kejriwal describing him as ‘Mufflerman’.

Besides wearing the AAP white cap, the child donning Kejriwal’s trademark spectacles, a fake moustache, a maroon sweater and a muffler, replicating the popular winter wear ensemble of Kejriwal, took the internet by the storm as social media users could stop gushing about the toddler.

The one-year-old, identified as Avyaan Tomar, is the son of a businessman Rahul Tomar, and his wife Meenakshi. Both are reportedly AAP supporters. The child was spotted at the AAP’s ITO headquarters in Delhi with his parents early in the morning.

The photo of ‘Baby Kejriwal’ was used extensively by the microbloggers who could not hold back from swooning over the toddler.

Avyaan’s sister Fairy, who is now nine years old, was also spotted dressed as Kejriwal after the Delhi assembly elections in 2015. She had attended Kejriwal’s swearing-in ceremony, donning a muffler and glasses.

The Tomars have supported Kejriwal since the time he was involved with activist Anna Hazare in 2011. “I want my daughter to become like Kejriwal and have the same qualities that he has —honesty, integrity, compassion… We used to bring her to Anna’s (Hazare) rally here and when Kejriwal came to the forefront of the anti-graft struggle, we made our daughter the mascot of that effort,” Meenakshi told PTI at the time.

The Aam Aadmi Party has secured a massive victory for itself in the Delhi Assembly Elections. Arvind Kejriwal has succeeded in fending off a strident challenge from the BJP and he is set for a third term as the Chief Minister. However, things were not all bad for the BJP. It has managed to increase its vote-share significantly but Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years before being voted out in 2013, looked on the path to draw a blank yet again in the 2020 Delhi election results.

Indian Railways launches “wake-up call” facility to alert passengers 30 minutes before reaching destination

The Indian Railways in its continued effort towards convenient travel for passengers has provided a much-needed service of “Wake-up call” that will get the passengers on their toes before 30 minutes the scheduled arrival of destination.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal also took to Twitter to inform about the much needed facility.

Railways will free you from worrying about missing your station, he tweeted while informing people about the ‘wake-up call’ facility being launched by the Indian Railways. This way, the passenger will be able to get ready before they arrive at their destination.

The “wake-up call” facility is launched by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation in-association with Bharat BPO. The facility can be available by calling on helpline number 139.

In December 2019, this was marked as a biggest achievement of Indian Railways after data revealed that there was zero passenger death in the fiscal year 2019-20 took place. The data revealed that the total numbers of consequential accidents – collisions, fire in trains, level crossing accidents and derailment – have decreased by nearly 95 percent over the last 38 years.

Despite losing, BJP candidate from Hari Nagar Tajinder Bagga pledges to fulfil his poll promises to voters

Though BJP candidate from Hari Nagar constituency, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has lost the recently concluded Delhi assembly elections, he has, nonetheless, pledged to fulfil the promises made by him during the elections.

Undeterred by defeat in the recently concluded Delhi assembly elections, Bagga took to Twitter to express his commitment in fulfilling the promises made by him in the manifesto.

Bagga had promised to open a Defence Coaching Centre for girls in Hari Nagar. Now, Bagga has pledged that he will fulfil his manifesto promise within the next 30 days in his personal capacity. He has also added that he would do his best to accomplishing promises made by him during the elections.

Conceding his defeat to AAP’s Raj Kumari Dhillon, Bagga echoed the poem quoted by late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said that he is not afraid to win or loss and accepts whatever he got after the struggle. Bagga also thanked the people of Delhi and extended his compliments for Arvind Kejriwal and AAP workers.

The lines shared by Bagga is from a poem authored by Shivmangal Singh Suman, which was frequently shared by former PM late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Delhi Elections 2020: The BJP’s vote-share has increased and so has its number of seats, the results cannot be extrapolated to fit larger anti-BJP narratives

The Aam Aadmi Party has secured a massive victory for itself in the Delhi Assembly Elections. Arvind Kejriwal has succeeded in fending off a strident challenge from the BJP and he is set for a third term as the Chief Minister. However, things were not all bad for the BJP. It managed to increase its vote-share significantly and by the looks of it, it will certainly win more seats than it won the last time around.

Some intellectuals, however, have lost their sense of proportions and are attempting to portray a completely different picture from what the results actually represent. It needs to be mentioned here that the BJP has not formed the government in Delhi since 1998, which is more than 20 years. Therefore, any analysis of the results must be made on the backdrop of this information.

The Delhi results have certainly sparked a renewed hope among ‘intellectuals’ that AAP has emerged as an alternative pole in Indian politics and that they represent a form of politics that could potentially succeed at the national level.

If the results indeed reflect a defeat of the politics of ‘communal polarization’, then it begs the question as to how did the BJP’s vote-share increase so significantly from the last time around? An increase in the number of seats accompanied by a significant increase in vote-share cannot be interpreted as a rejection of a particular brand of politics.

Furthermore, it is not the case that the Aam Aadmi Party refrained from indulging in communal politics. Amanatullah Khan, the AAP candidate from Okhla, was spotted leading a riot against the Citizenship Amendment Act in the Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal was prancing around reciting the Hanuman Chalisa on national television to ensure that he did not lose too many Hindu votes. All of this does not indicate a defeat of the politics of ‘communal polarization’.

Some others believe that “a political campaign that focused on Governance issues trumped one that was divisive”. Even that isn’t entirely true as the BJP highlighted the failures of the Arvind Kejriwal government greatly but at the end of the day, it just wasn’t enough. It’s true that Shaheen Bagh affected the elections disproportionately and it is understandable why but it is just wrong to claim it was only one party that focused on Shaheen Bagh and the other on governance issues. That is simply not how election campaigns are run.

Others believe that the AAP’s victory suggests that running a ‘clean modern government’ works in winning elections. Well, the AAP’s governance wasn’t ‘clean’ by any measure. It was plagued by scams and malfeasance of one variety or the other but it hasn’t affected its electoral prospects all that much.

All in all, the BJP did suffer a defeat in the Delhi Assembly Elections, but not much can be made of the results. Polarization did occur but it wasn’t enough to win them the elections. It also seems that having a known Chief Ministerial candidate has worked in AAP’s favour and when combined with the welfare scheme promised and implemented by the incumbent Delhi government, it was enough for the AAP to register a thumping victory.

At the same time, the increase in BJP’s vote share and the total collapse of the Congress party in Delhi cannot be ignored. It is safe to say that had the Congress not collapsed to this extent, the BJP would have won a lot more seats than it has. The BJP hasn’t won Delhi in 20 years and another defeat in the Union Territory cannot be interpreted as some verdict on matters of ideology and larger narratives on how a government ought to be run. The defeat of BJP in Delhi in 2015 did not affect the larger national narrative in any manner and it is unlikely that it will after AAP’s victory in 2020 as well.

Matthew Cherry’s prophesy about winning Oscars came true 8 years later, through ‘Hair Love’

Former NFL pro and movie director Matthew Cherry saw his 8-years-old Oscar-winning prophesy coming true when he won an Academy Award this year for his movie ‘Hair Love’.

Cherry won his first Oscar on Sunday for the animated short film ‘Hair Love’, which narrates a story of a black father learning to style his daughter’s hair. Apparently, in 2016, Cherry predicted that he had an ‘Oscar-worthy’ idea, calling out 3D Artists on his Twitter timeline to get in touch with him.

“Nailed it”, Cherry tweeted after winning an Oscar award for a movie based on an idea that he had envisioned 4 years back in 2016.

In 2012, Matthew Cherry posted a tweet declaring that he would one day be nominated for the much-coveted Oscar awards.

Cherry, in his acceptance speech, stated that he had dreamt of creating an ode to black hair to increase their representation in animated films. He said that ‘Hair Love’ was done because he wanted to normalise black hair and see it get more representation.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNw8V_Fkw28]

The 6-minute short animated film depicts a beautiful story of familial love. A daughter struggles to set her hair because he mother, who usually did it, is in hospital, getting treatment for cancer. The father, though he initially struggles, finally learns to do his daughter’s hair just like his wife used to do, by learning from his wife’s tutorial videos.

Through his movie, Cherry brought to fore Crown Act, that seeks to proscribe discrimination based on hair colour and texture. Cherry brought along with him DeAndre Arnold, a teenager who was not permitted to attend graduation without cutting his dreadlocks, to the awards ceremony.

“There is a very important issue that’s out there. It’s the Crown Act and if we can help this get passed in all 50 states, it’ll help stories like DeAndre Arnold, who’s our special guest tonight, stop happening,” Cherry said.
