West Bengal: Hindu activist murdered in Nadia, ‘killed because he refused to join TMC’, says family

A 27-year-old youth, worker of the Hindu Jagaran Manch (HJM), an offshoot of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, was murdered and his body was found with injuries on his head and neck a little distance away from his home at Kalyani in Nadia district of West Bengal, and the family has blamed TMC for the youth’s murder.

According to reports by PTI, the man’s body and his bike were found at the spot at around 11 pm on December 24, Tuesday.

The family said that the victim left the house in a hurry on receiving a phone call. Later the family rushed to the spot after being informed that his body has been found near the local primary school in their area.

The family claims that the murder was pre-planned. The victim’s elder brother said that local Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers had asked his younger brother to join their party and was murdered as he refused to comply with their demand.

Police informed that an investigation into the death has been launched.

Hindu Jagran Manch is an Indian Hindu activist group affiliated to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. It focuses on activism against religious conversion and works for the reconversion of Muslims and Christians to Hinduism.

West Bengal has always been a hotbed for political violence where TMC goons at the behest of their supremo Mamata Banerjee have been resorting to extreme violence. Recently, an RSS activist and a school teacher named Bir Bahadur Singh was shot at in Kolkata’s Metiabruz area in full public view.

In yet, another spine chilling incident, Bandhu Prakash Pal, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker, his pregnant wife and their six-year-old son were found murdered by unknown miscreants in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district on October 10.

Reportedly, Bandhu Prakash was a school teacher who worked in Gosaigram Sahapara Primary School. He also worked as an insurance agent in the locality.

More than 6,000 Christians killed by Islamic terrorists in Nigeria since 2015, 1000 in last year alone: Reports

0

In a shocking revelation, more than 6,000 Christians have been brutally murdered in the last four years and 1,000 of them in last year alone by Islamic terrorists in Nigeria, reports Fox News.

According to a report circulated by Christian news outlets, more than 1,000 Christians have been killed by Fulani herdsmen fuelled by Islamist ideology in the last year in Nigeria.

The Islamic terrorist group named Fulani herdsmen have murdered Christians as part of an aggressive and strategic land-grabbing strategy across the Plateau, Benue, Taraba, Southern Kaduna and parts of Bauchi state, said Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART), a British not for profit organisation.

The reports published on 18 November titled “Your Land or Your Body” mentioned that more than 6,000 Christians have been killed and 12,000 displaced by Islamic terrorists, members of the Fulani ethnic group since 2015 in Nigeria.

“They attack rural villages, force villagers off their lands and settle in their place — a strategy that is epitomized by the phrase: ‘Your land or your blood”. In every village, the message from local people is the same: ‘Please, please help us! The Fulani are coming. We are not safe in our own homes’,” the report read.

Nomadic Fulani herdsmen seek to replace diversity and difference with an Islamist ideology which is imposed with violence on those who refuse to comply. It is genocide according to the Nigerian House of Representatives, said Baroness Cox, member of House of Lords, who runs the non-profit organisation.

“Something has to change — urgently,” said Cox. “For the longer, we tolerate these massacres, the more we embolden the perpetrators. We give them a ‘green light’ to carry on killing,” he added.

As the population in the Sahara Desert continues to expand, there is increasing tension over land-scarcity and the predominantly Christian communities remain an easy target of land-grabbing attacks. Christians are also being targeted and killed by Boko Haram, a jihad terrorist group.

Reportedly, the Fulani herdsmen are responsible for the majority of the Christian deaths in Nigeria in 2019. About half of the Christian deaths this year occurred in five separate attacks in Kaduna between January and November, the report said.

“The attacks have, on occasion, led to retaliatory violence, as communities conclude that they can no longer rely on the government for protection or justice,” the report said.

Keep petrol ready, set everything on fire: Watch Odisha Congress leader Pradeep Majhi asking protestors to go on rampage

A shocking video has surfaced in which Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Nabarangpur district, Odisha and former MP Pradeep Majhi is brazenly seen instructing his party workers over the phone to prepare for an arson attack. He is heard asking his party workers to keep petrol and diesel ready and wait for further instructions before setting everything on fire.

“Keep petrol and diesel ready. The moment you get an order set everything on fire. We’ll see what happens next,” Majhi was caught on camera while talking to someone over the phone in his native Odia language.

Congress has been observing 12-hour ‘bandh’ in Nabarangpur today protesting ‘police inaction’ in connection with the alleged gang rape and murder of a minor girl in Kosagumuda Police Station area of the district on December 14.

According to a report by Odisha TV, Majhi was staging a protest near Kaunriaguda Chhak in the morning when the Additional SP of Nabarangpur intervened and asked him to withdraw agitation triggering an exchange of words between them. An infuriated Majhi later reportedly called his party cadres and asked them to keep petrol and diesel ready.

In a related development, a vehicle was set on fire by some miscreants near Ambedkar Chakk in Nabarangpur Town. Though their identities could not be established, sources suspect the car was set ablaze after Majhi’s call.

Interestingly, Pradip Majhi is the same Congress leader who had courted controversy after a video of his intimate moment with a woman went viral on social media in April this year.

Later, speaking to Odisha TV, the Congress leader acknowledged that he had directed his party workers to set everything on fire. “I am not at all repentant over my outburst”, said the Congress leader to the channel.

Unremorseful of his action, the Congress leader said: “I don’t believe in democracy anymore. Women and girl children are being raped during BJD government rule and I cannot keep mum. First, a minor girl in Kundali was gang-raped by jawans. Now, another minor girl was gang-raped and murdered in Nabarangpur,” said Pradip Majhi.

“We are being forced to take law in our hands and the government has compelled us to do so. As Gandhian principles are no more helping us to ensure justice, we are bound to adopt the ideals of Subash Chandra Bose. We are forced to adopt violence to get justice. I don’t want to regret whatever I said over the phone. If I have to adopt violence to keep my mothers and sisters safe, I will not step back,” stated the Congress leader.

A 16-year-old tribal girl, who had gone missing from home on December 13 night, was found murdered after gang-rape in Gumundoli village in Nabarangpur district the next day.

Villagers found her dead body on the outskirts of the village in the morning. Her body bore multiple injury marks and police found two jeans trousers from the spot under Kosagumuda police station limits.

Koraput DIG Shefeen Ahamed said the investigation is on and the criminals would be arrested soon.

China plans to rewrite Quran and the Bible, Islamic organisation in Malaysia threatens China to ‘not cross the redline’

The Communist government of China has decided to rewrite the Bible and the Quran to fit socialist values, the Daily Mail has reported. Although the order by the Committee for Ethnic Affairs does not mention the texts specifically, it calls for a “comprehensive evaluation of the existing religious classics aiming at contents which do not conform to the progress of the times.”

The Chinese regime maintains that “Jesus Christ’s parables” will have to fall “in line with the Communist Party, failing which they run the risk of being purged from the bibles available to the faithful.” The regime wants a “sinicization” of the Quran and other religious texts. If some texts do not conform to the desired ideals, they will have to be “modified and translated again.”

The Daily Mail reported, “A group of 16 experts, believers and representatives of different religions from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China attended the conference in last month, according to Xinhua News Agency. The meeting was supervised by Wang Yang, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.”

It adds, “Mr Wang stressed that religious authorities must follow President Xi’s instructions and interpret the ideologies of different religions in accordance with ‘the core values of Socialism’ and ‘the requirements of the era’.” The officials were also asked to come up with ‘a religious system with Chinese characteristics’.

The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organization (MAPIM) has expressed outrage at the recent revelations. Its president Mohd Azmi Abd Hamid, in a statement, demanded an explanation on the matter from the Chinese authorities. “The re-writing of the Quran will be seen as a war against Islam and Muslims around the world will definitely stand up to rebuke this policy,” Hamid said.

He further stated, “We remind China not to cross the redline. The already massive repression of Uyghur Muslims has been heavily criticised by the international community and the Muslims will not tolerate such abusive policy to alter the most sacred text of Islam. We demand the truth of this report and if China refuses to respond we will follow closely if the policy will actually be implemented or the policy be revoked.” “We call again that OIC must not be silent on the plight of the Uyghur Muslims and Muslims in general in China,” Hamid added.

Chinese oppression of Uighur Muslims has been known for a long time. Earlier the Chinese police had imposed a dress code for Uighur women, under which the Muslim women are not allowed to wear long dresses. Last year photos had appeared on social media showing police cutting dresses of Uighur women for being “too long”.

It was also reported that Han Males are sleeping on the same bed as Uyghur Muslim women in China whose male family members, often husbands, are locked up in ‘reeducation camps’ in conformity with a diktat by the Chinese regime. It appears now that the Chinese regime is willing to go many steps farther and rewrite the entire Bible and the Quran.

Two weeks after his arrest, NIA raids Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Akhil Gogoi’s residence in Guwahati

0

The National Investigation Agency on Thursday carried out searches at the residence of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti leader Akhil Gogoi in Guwahati and seized Akhil Gogoi’s old laptop and several documents, including RTIs filed by him.

Akhil Gogoi’s wife, Karabi Gogoi said the NIA also took the diary he wrote when he was jailed the last time. He wanted to write a book on his experiences in jail. The activist who was arrested under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act earlier this month amid protests over the new citizenship law, has been accused of having links with a banned Maoist group.

Gogoi tried to use the anti-citizenship law movement in Assam to help the Maoists establish a base in the state, the probe agency officials have claimed.

Akhil Gogoi was arrested on December 12 amid widespread protests against the amended Citizenship Act across the state. Five days later, he was sent to the NIA custody by a special court in Guwahati. He was produced at NIA court after the NIA custody ended on Friday.

The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader has been protesting against the citizenship law since last year.

The activist had in January tried to instigate the people of Assam and threaten the government by his secessionist rant over the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The Marxist peasant leader had said that if Assamese sentiments are not respected than the state will have to secede from the Union Of India.

Akhil Gogoi was previously slapped with a sedition case on January 7, after he organised a rally and issued secessionist remarks at Guwahati on January 7, along with Sahitya Akademi winning litterateur Hiren Gohain and senior journalist Manjit Mahanta. The three were booked under sections of 120 (B), 121, 123 and 124 (A).

Akhil Gogoi is a Marxist peasant leader, who started his public life with anti-corruption campaigns. He formed the left-wing organization Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti in 2005. It was also part of India Against Corruption, under the leadership of Anna Hazare. But recently his activities are mainly targetted towards BJP. He is trying to follow the same path as Arvind Kejriwal, starting with an anti-corruption movement against the Congress government but gradually turning to become mainly an anti-BJP organisation. He is also suspected to have links with the Maoists.

Detention Centres are nothing like Concentration Camps, Congress built them in Assam too: Here is all you need to know

The Citizenship Amendment Act has brought out all the sectarian rabid bigots out of their closet. The Act, which seeks to provide citizenship to persecuted minorities from the neighbouring Islamic states of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, has witnessed violent protests against it with senior leaders of political parties leading the charge.

Simultaneously, the National Register of Citizens and the National Population Register has attracted great criticism as well. One aspect of these initiatives that have garnered the most outrage from cynics is the Detention Centers for illegal immigrants. An attempt has been made to conflate Detention Centers with Nazi Concentration Camps and fuel mass hysteria even though there are mountains of differences between the two. At the head of the campaign, again, is, of course, the Congress party.

Rahul Gandhi, former president of the Congress party, has attacked the Prime Minister over the matter on Thursday. Unfortunately, he is not the only one. There has been a calumny of protesters, many of them violent, who have been creating mass hysteria around detention camps.

Congress set up Detention Centres in Assam

The Congress party and its senior leaders appear to forget that like the CAA, NPR and the NRC, the detention centres are not the brainchild of the BJP as well. In fact, detentions centres were set up by the Congress party in Assam while the UPA was in power. A statement issued by the government through the Press Information Bureau (PIB) in November 2011 confirms the same.

The UPA government confirming they set up Detention Centers

The statement says, “The Government of Assam has set up three detention camps, at Goalpara, Kokrajhar and Silchar to keep the declared foreigners/illegal migrants till deportation to their place of origin. A total of 362 declared foreigners/illegal migrants have been sent to these detention camps till November 2011. The number of foreigners/illegal migrants sent to detention camps are 221 persons in Goalpara, 79 in Kokrajhar and 62 in Silchar. Of this total, 78 persons have been deported to their place of origin till November 2011.”

The mainstream media, consistent with its nature of serving as the propaganda wing of the anti-BJP parties, has given the Congress party a completely free pass over the matter. The Telegraph, which has turned into a Trinamool mouthpiece of sorts in recent times, gave the Congress a free pass over the issue, in the same manner, that it has largely given Mamata Banerjee a free pass over the rampant violence that was witnessed in West Bengal recently. In a recent report on detention centres, The Telegraph did not mention even once that it was the Congress party which first came up with Detention Centers.

Is the Hysteria around Detention Centers justified?

One significant aspect to the whole matter that has escaped the attention of the cynics is the fact that there’s nothing about detention centres that ought to spark mass hysteria. Germany has migrant transfer centres, the United States of America has them and nearly every European country has them. Detention Centers are a feature of every functional country.

Detention Centers are necessitated by the fact that a country requires facilities where they can hold illegal immigrants or asylum seekers before their applications are processed and following the procedures, their applications are either accepted or they are deported. In the meantime, people need to be kept somewhere before they are either sent back to their country or accepted as citizens.

Read: “NPR is the first step to NRC”: Congress, not Home Minister Amit Shah, said it first back in 2011

Japan, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Ukraine, Greece, Australia, numerous developed countries have them because they are necessary. And there’s no hysteria surrounding them anywhere apart from the United States where the Radical Far-Left compares them with Nazi Concentration Camps, despite the fact that the detention centres are nowhere close to them. Unsurprisingly, Indian liberals, desperate for approval from the Americans, are making the same comparison.

Are Detention Centers really like Nazi Concentration Camps?

No one could argue that life in a detention centre is akin to vacation at a 5-star resort, however, they are nothing like concentration camps either. The authorities try their best to provide the basic necessities to the illegal immigrants at these centres, and often fall short off their mark. Sometimes, they are overloaded with immigrants, much more than they can hold and there’s only so much resource that a country can allocate to illegal immigrants. Moreover, the first priority for any government ought to be its own citizens.

The Leftists in the USA and liberals in India clearly do not believe in national borders or even nationalism but the government of any country must always prioritize its own citizens over illegal immigrants. Furthermore, there is a very easy way to avoid detentions centres. Do not come into the country illegally.

The hysteria that is being spread has no basis in reality at all. No one is trying to gas the illegal immigrants in these centres, no one is trying to exterminate them. Most importantly, no one locks up their own citizens in these detention centres. Therefore, Indian Muslims have nothing to be worried about at all, they will never be locked up there. And if the argument is that India is fascist merely because it hs detention centres, then every single country mentioned in the previous segment s fascist as well.

Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 and the hypocrisy of the opposition parties

In the first six months of the Modi 2.0 Government, a lot of path-breaking, far-reaching, and long-pending decisions were taken, many of which resulted in new enactments. Instant Triple Talaq, a regressive method of annulling a Muslim marriage, was set-aside by the Supreme Court and at whose suggestion a new Act was passed. Later the Parliament also abrogated Articles 35A and 370 by more than two-third majority.

While the Parliament was busy in undoing some historical mistakes, the Supreme Court of India, decided on the title suit of Ayodhya / Ram Janmabhoomi case, paving the way to the construction of the very long pending Ram Janmbhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

In none of the above, there was any protest, no one took to the streets, though there was enough gunpowder to be ignited.

Why is there so much protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act? The answer is – Politics. The Citizenship Amendment Act simply fast tracks the citizenship of minorities from three neighbouring countries – Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. It does not affect any Indian citizen of any religious community, including Muslims. There is a deliberate attempt by groups with vested interests, to get people to hit the street. It suits political propaganda of a few who have lost or are on the verge of losing their political significance and power.

The plight of many communities, like Matua, Namoshudra, Raj Banshi, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, Parsis who took refuge in India due to persecution, for years and decades is well known to all. Over the passage of time, different political parties have voiced their concerns and some have even demanded a mechanism be created to solve the citizenship issue of these people.

On 18 December 2003 Shri Manmohan Singh, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha said “While I am on this subject, I would like to say something, about the treatment of refugees. After the partition of our country, the minorities in countries like Bangladesh have faced persecution, and it is our moral obligation that if circumstances force people, these unfortunate people, to seek refuge in our country, our approach to granting citizenship to these unfortunate persons should be more liberal. I sincerely hope that the hon. Deputy Prime Minister will bear this in mind in charting out the future course of action with regard to the Citizenship Act.”

In May 2012, the CPI(M) during its 20thParty Congress, highest body of the party, in Kozhikode adopted a resolution – the excerpts of which are:

‘This Party Congress calls upon the Central Government to honour the assurance given by the Prime Minister to sympathetically consider the legitimate demand of a large number of Bengali refugees to recognize them as citizens of India.  They had fled their country erstwhile East Pakistan and then Bangladesh.  A large number of these refugees belong to the Scheduled Castes, mainly namashudra communities and are living in different parts of the country.

This Party Congress demands a suitable amendment in Clause 2 (i) (b) of the said Citizenship Act in relation to the Bangladesh minority community refugees.’

On 22nd May 2012, the General Secretary, Prakash Karat, wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, which was printed in the People’s Democracy on 3rd June.

Quotes from the said letter:

“….citizenship problems of a large number of refugees from erstwhile East Bengal and then even after the formation of Bangladesh who had to flee their country in particular historical circumstances over which they had no control. Their situation is different from those who have come to India due to economic reasons.”

“However, in spite of the consensus on the floor of the House,

this was not done. For nearly a decade the matter has been pending.”

The case of Mamata Banerjee, leader of Trinamool Congress is even more revealing.  In 2005, as a Lok Sabha MP, she approached the Speaker’s Chair and in a high pitched voice protested against the Bangladeshi infiltrators who had come to West Bengal, changing the demography.  After protesting she threw a bunch of papers at the Speaker and staged a walkout. The same Mamata Banerjee, who is now the Chief Minister of West Bengal, challenges the Government of India to implement the Act, and dramatically says “only over her dead body“.

Doesn’t it show the hypocrisy of some political parties and politicians in India, who once portrayed themselves as the messiah of the persecuted minorities, but are today on the streets opposing the same law that is aimed at giving these oppressed people Indian citizenship? The CAA was passed by 311 to 80 in Lok Sabha and 125 to 105 in Rajya Sabha after being debated for more than 20 hours in the two Houses. Surprisingly 8 of the 22 MPs of TMC in Lok Sabha abstained from voting despite their party whip. To the best of knowledge, these 8 disobedient MPs were not even asked for show-cause. After all this Mamata Banerjee has now demanded a UN-monitored referendum.

Read: Indian Muslims do not stand to suffer due to the CAA-NRC combo: Here are the laws and guidelines explained

The hypocrisy of the political class is out on the streets and is for everyone to see. They have tried to misguide the Indian Muslims by saying that the CAA would adversely impact the Indian Muslims and once the NRC is implemented the will lose their citizenship. In very crisp words, I would like to clear the myth surrounding this –

  1. The CAA does not affect any Indian citizen of any religion. This is for giving citizenship to those minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who have come to India facing persecution till 2014.
  2. The CAA is only applicable to minorities of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. This does not have any impact on Indian citizens including Muslims. Indian Muslims should NOT feel concerned.
  3. There has been no nationwide announcement of NRC. In the future, if ever there will be, due care will be taken that Indian citizens do not face any problem, as has been assured by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Home Minister of India.

Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar reveals how ex-cricketer Danish Kaneria was mistreated for being Hindu

Extremism and fanaticism against Hindus in Pakistan have been a well-established fact. The minority Hindus of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have always been treated as separate and unequal citizens in the country in a form of religious apartheid.

The country’s former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has once again exposed the plight of Hindu’s in Pakistan by making a revelation about ex-cricketer Danish Kaneria, who was the second Hindu after Anil Dalpat in the Pakistani cricket team.

While talking on a chat show titled ‘Game on Hai’ on a Pakistani TV channel hosted by cricket expert Dr Numan Riaz, the former pace bowler said that the Pakistani cricket team was “unfair to Danish Kaneria as he was a Hindu”. He was mistreated on the pretext of his religion and often the co-players refused to even eat with him because he was a Hindu, revealed Akhtar.

In the TV program, Shoaib said, “Danish had been Hindu. So it had been unjust to him. Some players had reservations about the reason why he consumes meals with us? ”

Despite being a bowler par excellence, Kaneria was never respected by the team members as he was a Hindu, said the former cricketer. Narrating an incident that transpired on a particular day in the Pakistan cricket team dressing room, Shoaib said that when his fellow players had resented eating food with Danish as he was Hindu, he got angry with them and said that he will throw each one out of the room for being such racists. He had then reminded the players that Danish was an excellent cricketer contributing immensely to the team and he should not be discriminated against because of his religion.

Danish Prabha Shanker Kaneria was the second Hindu and seventh non-Muslim overall to represent Pakistan in international cricket. Kaneria played 61 Test matches for Pakistan and took 261 wickets at an average of 34.79. He represented the team only in 18 ODIs taking 15 wickets with an average over 45.

After allegations of being involved in spot-fixing, Kaneria was given a lifetime ban by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), preventing him from playing in matches under their jurisdiction.

In 2016, the members of a parliamentary committee had also alleged that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not helping Danish Kaneria to fight his case against lifetime ban imposed by English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) “because he belongs to Hindu community”.

PML-N lawmaker Ramesh Kumar Vankvani was of the view that Kaneria was being discriminated against and the PCB officials were not assisting him like they had helped other cricketers in the past. Later Kaneria had himself also admitted that he was being mistreated because he is a Hindu.

Meanwhile Shoaib Akhtar during the chat show, also recollected how this societal prejudice had forced former Pakistani cricket star Yousuf Youhana to convert from Christianity to Islam and adopt the name of Mohammad Yousuf.

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif and Asim Kamal who also took part in a talk program on a Pakistan TV channel furthered that “Yousuf Yohana was bullied a lot. He was also a God-gifted player.” Shoaib also said, “Yusuf was to have 12,000 runs. But, we never guarded him”. Youhana, who was born a Christian, converted to Islam in 2005 after being a regular at preaching sessions of Tablighi Jamaat. His preachers included former Pakistani cricketer Saeed Anwar.

Karnataka: Congress leader DK Shivakumar lays foundation stone for world’s tallest Jesus Christ statue

Karnataka Congress MLA DK Shivakumar laid the foundation stone for the carving of the world’s tallest, 114 feet tall statue of Jesus Christ on the occasion of Christmas at Kapalibetta in Harobele village of Kanakapura taluk, Ramnagara.

According to the reports, the statue will come up at Kapalibetta where DK Shivakumar had got 10 acres of land sanctioned by the state government for the Jesus statue. On the occasion of Christman, DK Shivkumar handed over the documents relating to the land to the trust that will shoulder the responsibility of installing the statue. The statue will be made from hard granite.

Reportedly, the total height of the statue will be 114 feet, 13 feet of the statue would be comprised of steps, which have already been laid. The foundation stone laying process was done by worshipping the stone on the right foot segment of the Lord. Christ The Redeemer statue in Rio Di Janeiro, Brazil stands at 98 feet, excluding its 26-feet pedestal.

Nearly 99 per cent of Harobele village population comprises of Christians. They expressed gratefulness to Shivakumar and his brother DK Suresh, who is the MP from Bangalore Rural for undertaking this initiative. MLC S Ravi, Chinnnaraju who represents the trust, and others were present.

Karnataka Congress leader and MLA DK Shivakumar is currently out on bail in connection with the money laundering case. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 3 after undergoing four days of interrogation in relation to the case. The ED had cited Shivakumar’s non-cooperation during the questioning as the reason for his arrest.

The alleged money laundering by DK Shivakumar came to light after raids by the tax officials on August 2, 2017, on Shivakumar’s residence in New Delhi, which led to the seizure of unaccounted cash worth Rs.8.59 crore without evidence of its source of income.

The tax agencies had filed cases against Shivakumar and four other persons associated with him under Sections 277 and 278 of the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Sections 120(B), 193 and 199 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Fake News peddlers again lie about Amruta Fadnavis, claim Axis Bank wrongly benefited due to her being wife of former Maharashtra CM

Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is an accomplished woman in her own right. She is the Vice President of Axis Bank and she assumed that position on 31st October, 2014. An allegation that has been made time and again, without any evidence, is that the Maharashtra Police’s salary accounts were transferred to the Axis Bank during her tenure as VP.

The same baseless allegation was repeated by Gaurav Pandhi, a ‘political activist’ close to the Congress party. He shared a news report by the Mumbai Mirror to peddle the narrative, which said that the Maharashtra government was only now considering a move to the State Bank of India for the same.

The same lie was spread by compulsive hatemonger Nikhil Wagle, who is known to harbour a deep seated casteist hatred against Brahmins.

People associated with the Congress party want the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI to investigate the matter.

The allegations, obviously, could not be further from the truth. The Axis Bank has been managing the salary accounts for the Mumbai Police since March 2005, at least six months before Devendra Fadnavis even married Amruta Fadnavis and over nine years before the BJP leader’s wife became Vice President at the bank. Therefore, to claim that it was the Fadnavis Government in Maharashtra that transferred the salary accounts to the Axis Bank because Amruta Fadnavis is the VP of it is a clear and malicious lie and a political attack that has no basis in truth.

PTI report from August 2019

The PTI report mentioned above says while quoting a senior official of Mumbai Police, “The bank also has the salary accounts of employees of Kendriya Vidyalaya, the Urban Development Department of the state government and the Charity Commissioner’s office for long, he said. The state government decided to disburse the salaries through nationalised and private banks in 2005, and UTI Bank was among the 16 banks selected for this purpose, he said. In 2007, UTI Bank changed its name to Axis Bank.”

Read: Amruta Fadnavis vs Shiv Sena: Wife of Former Maharashtra CM slams the party for crass demonstration

It is entirely up to the Maharashtra Government to decide whether they wish to continue employing the services of Axis Bank or not but for political hacks to make dubious allegations against those perceived as political opponents is disingenuous. Quite clearly, it is a flight of fantasy to claim that Axis Bank ended up handling the salary accounts of Mumbai Police due to Amruta Fadnavis’ relationship with the former Maharashtra CM. The Axis Bank has been handling it since even before the two were even married.
