Bihar: Women ‘deliberately’ defecating in a farm at Bhagalpur, destroying wheat crops, farmer seeks help

0

On Wednesday, a bizarre incident was reported from the Bhagalpur district of Bihar. A farmer complained that a group of women from his village were deliberately defecating on his farm and destroying his crops. A farmer named Chandradev Mandal wrote to the Child Development Administrative Circle Officer stating that the women have toilets in home but still coming regularly to defecate in his farm as an act of animosity.

According to the Navbharat Times report, the incident is said to have happened in the Pirpainti village of Bhagalpur district, Bihar. Farmer Chandradev Mandal stated that several farms were around, but the women were selectively defecating on his farm to destroy the wheat crops. He also said in the complaint letter that he was assaulted by respective husbands of women on complaining about the matter.

As per the complaint submitted to the circle officer of Pirpainti, the women who defecate the farm have been identified as the wives of Rohin Mandal, Umesh Mandal, Damodar Mandal, Pappu Mandal, Police Mandal, and Ballu Mandal.

Chandradev reiterated that his wheat crops were getting damaged due to the defecation activities of these above-mentioned women and that they were deliberately doing so to destroy his crops. The appeal to the local administration stated that the act of defecation is being done just to harass him and damage his crops.

Reports mention that the administrative officials took cognizance of the event and ordered the women to not defecate on Chandradev Mandal’s farm and use the toilets at their own homes. But the women seem to be adamant about defecating on Mandal’s farm. Farmer Chandradev Mandal has demanded strict action against the women in the complaint letter submitted to the Child Development Administrative Circle Officer, Pirpanti.

Watch: BJP and AAP councillors clash over the election of Standing Committee members

On Wednesday (February 22) night, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) house witnessed a high-voltage drama as several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) councillors clashed amidst loud sloganeering. Several BJP and AAP members exchanged blows and hurled plastic bottles at each other.

The incident took place at around 11 pm on Wednesday night over the mode of election of the members of the standing committee. The BJP claimed that the council members were using their mobile phones to take pictures of the ballots while the voting was secret, which caused mayhem to break out during the election for the standing committee members on Wednesday. The BJP referred to it as a breach of the secret ballot and requested that the votes cast be discarded and fresh elections be held.

“Because members earlier brought their mobile phones to the voting booth area with the mayor’s permission, we have been requesting that a new election be held. We later asked to start the process over after she denied it when we objected, but the mayor was adamant,” BJP councillor Shikha Rai alleged.

Mayor Shelly Oberoi alleged that the BJP councillors tried to attack her during the proceedings.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, several BJP Councillors chanted ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ and raised slogans of ‘Jai Sri Ram’ over the delay in the election of members to the Standing Committee of MCD.

The House resumed early on Thursday morning and was adjourned for a fifth time. In the midst of the intense sloganeering and chaos, the House witnessed numerous disruptions when it first opened on Thursday morning. Council members began pushing each other and threw voting boxes into the well. The podium was also damaged during the clash.

Amidst heavy sloganeering and protests, the proceedings were adjourned again for an hour.

AAP’s Shelly Oberoi became the Mayor of Delhi after defeating BJP’s Rekha Gupta. While Shelly Oberoi received 150 votes, BJP member Rekha Gupta could get 116 votes only. It is noteworthy that the Aam Aadmi Party won the most seats in the MCD elections conducted in Delhi in 2022. Out of total 250 seats, AAP alone won 134 wards. The Congress party could win only 9 wards, while the BJP had to be content with 104 seats.

‘Genocide denier, puncture repairer, STSJ instigator’: Vivek Agnihotri slams Mohammed Zubair, who dog whistled Islamists against Nupur Sharma

On 22nd February 2023, film director Vivek Agnihotri slammed the self-proclaimed fact-checker and co-founder of propaganda peddling website Al News Mohammed Zubair. Vivek Agnihotri called him a genocide denier, a terror supporter who instigated beheading calls. Vivek Agnihotri essentially indicated how Mohammed Zubair was responsible for the death threats to former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and how he dog-whistled Islamists inside and outside India against Nupur Sharma.

Vivek Agnihotri tweeted, “Instead of metaphors, I should call you exactly what you are: Genocide denier, terror supporter, perpetrator of women harassment (Nupur Sharma) instigator of Sar Tan Se Juda (Kanhaiya Lal) & anti-truth pimp of Hindu’s enemies. Prepare yourself for qayamat when it comes. The end.”

Vivek Agnihotri’s remarks were in response to Mohammed Zubair’s earlier tweet that had raised the hackles of the ‘fact-checkers’ after being referred to as ‘puncture repairer’ by the ‘The Kashmir Files‘ director. Responding to Agnihotri’s tweet, Mohammed Zubair tweeted, “Words like “Jihadi” or “Puncture wala” against Muslims were earlier used by faceless Right Wing trolls, It’s now openly being used by Verified trolls like Vivek Agnihotri.”

Before that, Mohammed Zubair disparaged Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files in the name of fact-checking and said that the director hates fact-checkers. Vivek Agnihotri responded to Zubair tweeting, “No, my dear… I don’t hate fact-checkers, I hate when puncture repairers pretend to be fact-checkers. Because you are nothing but just a jehadi pimp of India’s enemies & I know very well who is behind you. The time for every jihadi comes and your time is coming soon, be careful.”

The Kashmir Files

The Kashmir Files is a film based on the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus. The film directed by Vivek Agnihotri got global acclaim during its world tour in 2021. The film was released in India on 11th March 2022. It became a massive hit commercially. But, at the same time, it carries a separate importance as it voiced the pain of the Kashmiri Hindus who were forced out of the valley in 1990.

Mohammed Zubair dog-whistled Islamists against Nupur Sharma

Bharatiya Janata Party’s former spokesperson Nupur Sharma was the target of the Islamists in the country for her allegedly insulting remarks against the Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate. It was Mohammed Zubair who in the name of fact-checking shared edited video clips of the debate and dog-whistled Islamists against Nupur Sharma. A series of stone-pelting and violence by Islamists under the garb of protests by Muslims followed for several weeks.

Those who supported Nupur Sharma on social media websites and messaging apps also became the targets of the Islamists. Kanhaiya Lal – a Hindu tailor in Udaipur – and Umesh Kolhe – a chemist in Amravati of Maharashtra were beheaded by Islamists. It was Mohammed Zubair who instigated this whole issue. Therefore, director Vivek Agnihotri slammed Mohammed Zubair in his tweet.

In Udaipur, Rajasthan, a Lord Parshuram idol was vandalized on February 20. After the incident, locals raised slogans against the administration and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. Following the filing of an FIR, the police started searching for the accused. BJP MP Arjun Lal called the situation in Rajasthan “worse than Syria and Iraq” and demanded stringent action against the perpetrators.

The incident reportedly took place in the Ravaliya Khurd village, which comes under the Gogunda police station. The idol of Lord Parshuram was installed in a temple where the villagers used to worship daily. On Monday morning, when locals arrived at the temple, they found the idol was damaged. The idol’s two hands were broken, and it was uprooted and thrown down the stairs. Devotees from nearby areas started gathering there after learning about the incident.

The police made repeated attempts to calm the outraged locals, but they instead staged a Dharna. The police then began searching for the accused after a case was registered. None of the accused, meanwhile, have yet been apprehended.

When BJP MP Arjun Lal Meena raised concerns about Rajasthan’s law-and-order situation. He said that the state was in a worse position than Syria and Iraq. According to Arjun Lal, Ashok Gehlot’s appeasement politics has made the lives of Hindus in Rajasthan difficult. The BJP MP called the accused a nuisance to society.

Meanwhile, the former chief minister of Rajasthan and Bhartiya Janata Party leader, Vasundhara Raje has also condemned the incident and raised concern over the deteriorating law and order in the state. “Vandalizing of Lord Parshuram’s idol in the Gogunda police station area of Udaipur district is highly condemnable. It is evident from this that there is no law and order in the state. Chief Minister should take strict steps,” a tweet by Raje in Hindi read.

Rana Ayyub fails to appear before Ghaziabad court in money laundering case against her: Report

0

In conjunction with its investigation into suspected irregularities and the laundering of cash she allegedly collected for humanitarian work, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint (similar to a chargesheet) against Rana Ayyub. The alleged journalist was asked to appear before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Ghaziabad Court in relation to the matter, but she failed to do so, according to a report by Times Now.

Previously, Ayyub had submitted a motion contesting the Ghaziabad court’s ability to hear the case within its territorial jurisdiction. However, earlier this month, the Supreme Court rejected her plea, paving the way for the court to hear the case. However, the court had said that since there is a serious factual dispute over the places where the offence was committed, this question should be raised before the Ghaziabad court.

The investigation agency Enforcement Directorate had started a money laundering investigation into Ayyub based on an FIR filed against her on September 7, 2021 by the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad under the Indian Criminal Code, the Information Technology (Amendment) Act, and the Black Money Act.

The FIR claimed that Ayyub had fraudulently obtained funds from the general public under the guise of charity by establishing fundraising campaigns on the crowdfunding website Ketto. The charge sheet stated that Ayyub broke the law regarding foreign contributions and used the money totalling Rs 2.69 crore for personal expenses.

The Enforcement Directorate said, “Rana Ayyub utilised these funds to create fixed deposits of ₹50 lakh for herself and also transferred ₹50 lakh to a new bank account. Investigation found that only about ₹29 lakh was used for relief work.”

“The investigation has established that Rana Ayyub had launched the fund raising campaigns with the sole intention to cheat the general public and acquired proceeds of crime in form of fixed deposits and balances in bank accounts projecting them as untainted,” it added.

The ED attached assets worth Rs 1.77 crores of Rana Ayyub under the Money Laundering Act in relation to the case. The ED has, in its attachment order said, “Rana Ayyub has cheated the general Public Donors in a pre-planned manner and with the intention to cheat the general public donors”.
